Hi! I'm Sarah and I'm here to bring you updates on the Anti Amendment One Movement. North Carolina voted on Amendment One on May 8, 2012. The measure defines marriage in the state as between one man and one woman. Same-sex marriage is already banned in the state of North Carolina. The proposed measure, however, adds the ban to the state constitution. Help NC fight against discrimination! Follow on Twitter! https://twitter.com/NOonAmendment1

A lot of you have been asking me "so...what's next in the fight against Amendment One?" Well...here you go! :)
"Most ads for marriage equality feature a bunch of pleasant talking heads saying soothing things about their nice families and the importance of treating people fairly. They are very polite and maudlin and zzzzzzzzz…
This is not one of those ads.
Smarting from a harsh loss on Amendment One, which imposed a constitutional ban on the freedom to marry, Equality North Carolina is now going on the offensive. Turns out, they’re kind of scary when they’re mad."

It's Official: Chick-fil-A COO Dan Cathy Comes Out as Antigay
Dan Cathy, the chief operating officer of Chick-fil-A, said there is no denying that his company opposes marriage equality.
Cathy said that he does not feel right billing Chick-fil-A as a Christian business because, as Christian business mentor Fred Roach once said, "There is no such thing as a Christian business ... Christ never died for a corporation."
However, Cathy told the Baptist Press he aims to operate the restaurant chain "on biblical principles." When asked whether his company had an established position against marriage equality, Cathy said, "guilty as charged."
He added, "We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that. ... We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

Nobody loves Chickfila's deliciously tasty chicken morsels of heaven (nuggs) more than me, but I say to myself "Sarah, if you can't keep yourself from giving your money to a company that donates money to anti-gay organizations then you've got a real problem. Go on a diet you fattycake." lol So no Chickfila for me. But that's just what I say to myself. You guys do what you want ;) haha

Google's "Legalize Love" campaign officially launched in Poland and Singapore on Saturday, July 7. Google plans to expand the initiative to every country where the company has an office, and will focus on places with homophobic cultures where anti-gay laws exist. Google's Mark Palmer-Edgecumbe outlined the initiative at a Global LGBT Workplace Summit in London: "We want our employees who are gay or lesbian or transgender to have the same experience outside the office as they do in the office. It is obviously a very ambitious piece of work." Google's Mark Palmer-Edgcumbe notes that the company has, on several occasions, wished to place a highly skilled gay employee in a particular country, but couldn't because of that country's anti-gay policies. Palmer-Edgcumbe singled out Singapore for special criticism. "Singapore wants to be a global financial center and world leader and we can push them on the fact that being a global center and a world leader means you have to treat all people the same, irrespective of their sexual orientation." Although North Carolina voters passed a constitutional ban on gay marriage 60-40 in the state’s May 8 primary, opponents of Amendment One are still making their voices heard.
Randy Gillis, a gay medical coder from Sofia, walked almost 100 miles from his hometown to the state’s capital Thursday to deliver a bundle of letters expressing residents’ opposition to the ban. After leaving the letters at the office of Sen. Peter Brunstetter (R-Forsyth), one of the amendment’s key sponsors, Gillis celebrated his accomplishment on a Raleigh street outside the legislature.
With President Barack Obama’s May 9 announcement of his support of gay marriage, the issue will likely impact the way many North Carolinians vote in November’s election.

Specifically I'm talking about Romney supporters yelling at David Axelrod at a press conference so loud that he couldn't really be heard with a mic and then in response to it Romney said that they did good by doing that.
Well...I think it's pretty ignorant for anyone to behave that way, whether they're in support of Romney or Obama. When people threw glitter at Santorum, I rolled my eyes because it was completely defeating the purpose. You're not going to change someone's mind by attacking them and it makes you look like a bully.

this isn't really about amendment one or the issues of gay rights, but what do you think about the lack of respect that is being shown in this years presidential race, especially lately?
Hmm...to me it seems pretty typical of any presidential election (sadly). What specifically are you talking about?

What about us in the middle of Eastern NC? Not South. Not North.. just kinda in the middle...
I'm not sure what the question is. It'd be easier to answer your questions if you came off anonymous and I could respond privately.

Patrick Wooden, Peter LaBarbera: Nobody Wants Their Kids To Be Gay
Pastor Patrick Wooden and anti-gay rights activist Peter LaBarbera are certain that nobody wants their kids to be gay.
Wooden, a pastor at Raleigh's Upper Room Church, appeared Wednesday on LaBarbera's Americans for Truth Hour radio show, media watchdog RightWingWatch.org reported.
A strong supporter of North Carolina's gay marriage ban, Amendment One, Wooden predicted that young people who support marriage equality will change their minds when they become parents.
“Young people grow up and it's amazing what happens when you become a mom or a dad yourself. It's amazing what happens when, all of a sudden now you are entrusted with a young life and that kid looks just like you and all of a sudden now it's your little boy or your little girl. No one wants their son to be a homosexual. No one wants their daughter to be a homosexual,” Wooden said.
LaBarbera agreed: “The liberals are now saying, they are going around saying how happy they would be if their son came home, or their daughter, and said 'I'm gay' And it's almost like they are arguing against nature that they are trying to persuade themselves because honestly I don't think many would be happy, and it's not something to be happy about to know that your son or daughter is entering an aberrant and immoral lifestyle. And yet, that's what they keep saying.”
“Well, they're saying that be we know that's not true. No one, no one would want their child – even the homosexual father doesn't want his son to be homosexual; the lesbian mother does not want her daughter to be lesbian,” Wooden added.

And here I was thinking that parents wanted their children to grow up and be happy...silly me.
