So, I just saw the Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2, and I've got some thoughts. First, the bad: That was a rough presentation on a technical level. The video and audio were desynced and at one point the video froze while the audio kept playing. They tried to fix it, but over corrected and replayed the video too far back from where the audio was. Oof. That being said, this is the only complaint I have concerning the Direct. Here are what I liked. The Good:
We got a release date, June 5th, 2025. Get your wallets ready. All Switch titles will be playable on the Switch 2, with some even getting a Switch 2 specific upgrade. For example, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will be getting an upgrade pack that will improve the performance of these games. Data transfer has been confirmed, move games and save data from your Switch to the Switch 2. Performance wise, it does seem to be on par with a Sony PS4, seeing as how Yakuza Zero and Street Fighter 6 seemingly played well. That's another thing, multiple companies that have partnered with Sony in the past are moving their titles onto the Switch 2, with the likes of Elden Ring and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade being available on Switch 2. New Hyrule Warriors game coming out, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment. Love the continued use of the "Age of" subtitle, I feel that helps open up a whole new venues of Zelda stories to tell in future Hyrule Warriors titles. Also, more central focus on Zelda during TotK. Switch 2 console features look interesting. Love the idea of the dock having it's own cooling system, this will help put less strain on the Switch 2. Bravely Default getting a remastered version on the console, haven't played the original 3DS version, so I'm looking forward to that. Game Cube being added to NSO, and the first game they showed was Wind Waker. Unfortunately I think this means the Wind Waker HD version will not be coming to the Switch 2, and forever isolated to the Wii U... which is fine for me because I have a Wii U, so... eh. There seemed to be a little more emphasis on open world play in some of the titles, with the new Mario Kart and Donkey Kong games looking likely to be prime examples. Guess BotW didn't just open the door to that concept, but ripped the damn thing of the hinges. So those are my thoughts on what I saw. Technical difficulties aside, if you look at what was actually shown, you'll see that there are a lot of promising things to look forward to with this new console. Now, if only they get off their asses and release Metroid Prime 2 and 3 already. They gave us hope with Prime 1, STOP TEASING US, NINTENDO!

Imagine it's been a long day. A VERY long day. The attempt on the chancellor's life by the Jedi, the assault on the temple, the end of the war. Imagine you're reading the news after everything that has happened and you see a list. A list of names, of traitors, of the Jedi. You read the paragraph before the list, saying to report to the office of the Imperial Security Bureau should you encounter a Jedi. You scan through the names listed. All of them fought in the war, all of them led their troops into a rain of blaster fire and smoke, all of them held the Republic's best interests at heart. Or should have. You guess the Jedi are gone in more ways than one The people, the religion, the ideals. Much like how the Clone Wars ended, so too did the Jedi. As you scan the list, a small thought enters your mind. Some small nagging idea that you can't get rid of. Someone's name isn't here. You think on who it might be, crossing off names from both the list in front of you and in your mind. Plo Koon? No Mace Windu? No Luminara Unduli? No Who? Who was missing? Who can't you remember? And in a flash, you realize. A small plucky kid in that one exciting Boonta Eve race who then became a Jedi and war general. Anakin Skywalker. His name's not on the list. Excitement takes you as you begin to look up his feats and achievements, hoping to find something proving he's alive. He was the first human to win that race, he then went from being a slave on that dust ball of a planet to something great when the Jedi meant something. He, out of all of them, didn't deserve to go out like that. But as you spend time going through the publicly available archives, an unease knots up in your gut, confusion furrowing your brow. You can't find him. You can't find his name. For the second time that day you cannot find his name anywhere. The public archives have no mention of Anakin Skywalker. Even in fights where you KNEW he led the Republic to victory, his name had been wiped away. Sentences that began with "Led by Jedi General Anakin Skywalker" were now replaced with some variation of "Led by our brave military generals". You search and search, rereading articles you've gone over a dozen times, reading the same sterile edits in each and every one. A horrid realization settles in you. This was deliberate, this was planned. Your galaxy's history was revised and edited, and you don't even know why. And because of those edits... He was gone. Like he never even existed. As you sit back, letting the excitement of your little mission ebb away, you look out the window. As you do, another small yet just as persistent thought lingers in the back of your mind. A thought that brings dread and remorse. It's only going to get worse. More will disappear like Anakin.
Imagine you’re some pod racing enthusiast watching the Boonta Eve Classic and some literal child enters with the shittiest scrap pod you’ve ever seen. He built it himself. He then proceeds to absolutely demolish every other professional racer. The kid never enters a race again but his legacy lives on in the hearts of the pod racing community.
About 10 years later, you tune into a news stream to catch some news about the Clone War. The announcer is talking about a particularly pivotal battle, saying something about “Jedi General Anakin Skywalker”
YOU MEAN THAT KID FROM THE BOONTA EVE CLASSIC???

So with Xenoblade Chronicles X DE a week away, I have to ask. We've had confirmation that Xenoblade and Xenosaga are connected, but has there been any confirmation that Xenogears is connected to these games? I had a though on how that would work out.

If you haven’t already, I would strongly encourage you to start following what’s going on with your state and local politics.
State and local politics are so important, especially nowadays with what’s going on with the federal government.
Find out who your city’s mayor and city councilors are, go to city council meetings, find out who your governor is, find out who your state representatives and senators are
State and local politics are more important than ever now.

So I was wrong
I initially thought that Trump was going to be the number one threat to this country, that he and J.D. Vance were going to do everything they can to burn this nation to the ground. But I was wrong. Elon Musk has become enemy number one to this country. He is the biggest threat we face. I have made multiple points about how stupid Trump is, Elon is that and more. A brain barely functioning due to copious amounts of drugs, the mistaken belief that he is still a spry twenty something with energy to match, and the complete lack of morals to plan his actions to. I am genuinely afraid of what is to come. I think we all are. But we cannot let such fear dictate our actions straight to apathy. Instead we need to let it be reason for us to stand up and resist. That is how we will win. That is how we will live.

It's going to get rough
Trump just instigated another trade war with our allies, Canada and Mexico. Why, you may ask? Because he's a malicious idiot. He may be dumb, he is also a vindictive little shit, and that is a terrible mash up for all. But enough about Trump, Canada and Mexico responded in kind with their own tariffs. But they were smarter, which isn't really saying much because I'm comparing them to Trump. This isn't a high bar to get over, it's literally on the ground. Canada and Mexico put tariffs on products that specifically come from RED STATES. Red States are being targeted by Canada and Mexico in this trade war and they are not ready to handle it. The last time Trump started a trade war, Red States were still hurt disproportionately more than Blue States, and are still feeling the effects of that first trade war to this day. These next four years, as I have said before, are going to be bad for everyone. But when you compare Blue States and Red States at the end, it's going to be night and day. Red States will be a fucking mess in all facets of life. People will suffer, but that's what happens when you get a gun, load it with a single bullet, aim it at your foot, and then pull the trigger, while you're still healing from the bullet you put in your other foot back in 2016.
