Beliefs, limiting beliefs and self-belief
It is another great day and an opportunity to share about a challenge faced by many of us. We hope you were enriched with our last post on know thyself . We at WAFEMS mentoring, acknowledge your comments and your commitment to making changes in your lives. Today we address the idea of Beliefs and identify how certain disempowering beliefs stop us from moving forward or simply causing us to feel stagnated or stuck as we know it.
A belief is simply a convenient assumption. To some it is an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially without proof. Others see it as assumptions we make about ourselves, about others in the world an about how we expect things to be.
An important question to ask yourself is, does the belief nourish, nurture and challenge you. Put simply is this belief empowering you or hindering you from going forward in life and achieving what you have envisioned? If the answer is no, then it is what we call a limiting belief.
What then does believing in yourself mean?
Believing in yourself is simply trusting in your abilities and being open to learning and growing in areas that would help you achieve your objectives or help you live an extraordinary life. Self-belief is critical to success and even more critical than your actual capabilities.
It might be important to ask at this point, how many things you have left undone because you didn’t believe you could?
Self-belief implies that you’ve got all it takes to accomplish anything you set your mind to. Yes there would be a learning curve, challenges and unfamiliarity, which requires a little bit of mastery to be able to accomplish.
Studies have shown that your belief about your capabilities is a more accurate predictor of success than your actual capabilities. Why you might ask? It is simply because we all act in a manner consistent with our beliefs.
Are you having trouble believing in yourself and your capabilities?
A very helpful tip would be the notion that if you saw someone do something you’ve always wanted to do and are sure you could do a better job, then that is enough to fuel the process of self-mastery.
In our next post we would look at strategies for boosting self-confidence and self-belief.
Wanting to connect with like-minded people and engage in the journey of total self-discovery?  Book a session with WAFEMS mentoring today.

Why we exercise?
Regular physical activity is good for you, but do you know how good? From boosting your moods to improving balance of life, improving sex life as well as longer healthy life style mentally and physically.
The health benefit of regular exercise and physical activity is hard to ignore. It will increase your stamina, improve balance of well being, increase your mental capacity, physical and spiritual well being. It has benefits for all ages, sex or physical ability.
1. Exercise Controls weight
Exercise can prevent obesity in both children and adult alike or help maintain weight loss. The more intense the activity the more you burn calories. But you don't have to put aside a huge chunk of time, it can start with a simple 15 mins to 30 mins per day, whether it been walking or weight training on the gym floor or just being active throughout the day, by taking the stairs instead of the elevator during your shopping for example or by doing your household chores or by taking the dog for walk, it doesn't matter what it is, as long as you are active.
2. Exercise combats health conditions and diseases.
No matter what your current weight, being active boost high density lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol and decrease unhealthy triglycerides. It keeps your blood flowing smoothly, which decreases your risk of cardiovascular diseases. It helps to prevent high blood pressure, high cholesterol, strokes, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, depression, certain types of cancer, arthritis and falls.
3. Exercise improves mood
If you want to blow off some steam after a stressful day at work? A workout at the gym or a brisk 30 mins walk can help. Physical activity stimulates various brain chemicals that may leave you happier and more relaxed. You feel better about your appearance and yourself, it will increase your self confidence, and self esteem.
4. Exercise boosts energy
Regular exercise or physical activity can improve muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise and physical activity delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lungs work more efficiently, you have more energy to go about your daily chores.
5. Exercise promotes better sleep
If you are struggling to sleep or stay asleep? Regular physical activity can help you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep. Allow yourself to wind down after exercise, a few hours before bed or you may be too energised to fall asleep.
6. Exercise puts the spark back into your sex life
If you feel too tired to get physical intimacy with your partner? Regular physical activity is the go, to help you feel better about yourself and more energised, which has a positive effect on your sex life. Regular physical activity can lead to enhanced arousal for women and men who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction than men who don't exercise.
7. Exercise can be fun
Exercise and physical activity can be a fun way to spend a day out with families and friends alike. It gives you a chance to unwind, enjoy the outdoors or simply engage in activities that makes you feel happy about yourself. No matter what it is as long as you feel good about it, you can take up a class or just meeting friends in the park and go for a walk. The choices are there for the taking.
Bottom line on exercise.
Before you start this journey make sure you check with your local GP. Especially if you haven't exercise for a long time, have chronic health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes or arthritis, or any concerns that you may have.
