Been away from tumblr so long yall. BUT i have a new coloring about my #spidersona

Ive been spending my time to write her lore etc. Sen is her alternate name. Serena reduced to "Sen".

Serena Taira or Sen Taira, is the one and only Spider-Ronin in Earth-2208. Her universe was a post-apocalyptic one. Unlike other spider person, she obtain the role after the spider god encountered her dying in a ditch.

Its almost like moonknight lmaoaoaoa.

She who wished to live, accept the role of high priest of the spider god and atp, said "High-Priest" is just a merc. With the special Nodachi, she slain evil for the web of destiny.

But is she a destony slave? No. She believes that mortals have choices for a reason. And fate is just another lie. All variants of Serena will always die early. And her current existence is the proof of her belief. She lived, defying the "Canon".

Her existence opposing Miguel's.

Alain is a human being, his own human being. He isn't Alejandro. He shares the face, the body and the voice but he IS NOT Alejandro. He's his own person with a life outside of pleasing people in one community that he and others are trying so hard to stay open to.

And doing things like harassing and trying to tear down someone he really loves and cares about says more about them than anything else.

Alain is not yours, he will never be yours, he never was, and he has his own life.

Kay so this one actually collecting dust in my gallery since i was so scared to post shits on any social media.

But!

I just want to establish her swinging patterns. She looks a lot like a dancer when shes swinging around. Maybe because her attire looks more like a traditional dancer rather than a wicked Miiko.

And to confirm something, the reason why her family name is Taira was just to give readers a sense that she is a member of a certain clan in japan. Well, she is. Although they're not THAT important anymore to the emperor. When i heard about Kenshi Takahashi, i was so happy because i can actually have more lores to fill in the blank.

Okay now about her webbing technique, she can disarm people and turn them into her very own combat marionette. Like puppet strings. She hate using such technique, so normally, she will focus on dropping her targets as fast as she can. And if the killing order come, she will do it as swiftly as she can.

Unless the target was an awful criminal.

Being a sword to her current master, her purpose to exist originally to be a well needed variable to create a more interesting story for the said God. The Spider God grew bored with all the story the spiders has weaved.

He wants more than "Serena Taira always die young.", "Ben died and then peter parker strived.", or "Peter Parker is the friendly neighborhood spiderman."

He wants "stories". And he give Serena all the spices she will need.

Death.

Growth.

Love.

Regret.

And then Grief.

When i first thinking about making a spidersona and the lores, i wanted it to be a dark yet hopeful story about grief and acceptance. I want her to influence something in Miguel's way of thinking. I want her to be a wounded woman and strive forward AFTER she mend herself up.

Rather than writing her as a hero. I want to write her as a human. With all of her compassion and willingness to try. To be the one who inspire people to appreciate small things in life. And to be the one who appreciate pleasant surprise like Miles existence as a spiderman.

And finally, the Spider God can truly appreciate how limitless the humans capacity to love each other.

Thats all for now folks. This might change when i decided to actually write it down.

Discussing Spanish/Mexican Terms w/ Miguel O'Hara

In my old blog I already discussed this. I took a quick dive into the Spanish terms writers use when writing about Miguel and... it was mildly disappointing. Not the writing itself, of course not, but rather the Spanish nicknames they use with Miguel. While it isn't a big deal, everyone's allowed their freedom, whatever, this is what our founding fathers died for, I personally, personally, find it a little annoying.

Personally.

It's an opinion.

As we all know, from the comics, Miguel is half-Mexican and half-Irish. In the comics, Miguel appears mostly 'white,' with his spider suit spider symbol resembling a Día de los Muertos-themed spider skull... or something like that. As far as my knowledge goes, the comics don't really do his Mexican heritage justice.

However, in the movie, that's something else, and in a good way. The animators/creators/whatever clearly did justice to his Mexican heritage. They gave Miguel more 'Mexican'/Latin features - darker hair, darker eyes, darker skin, etc - and put a huge emphasis on his Mexican heritage while practically ignoring his Irish side (which is another post on its own.) They even fixed up his spider suit - gave him a more high-tech suit and fixed up his dumb little spider symbol. It still resembled a skull-themed spider but made it more 'futuristic' and abstract, which is pretty cool in my opinion, as it still gives a nod to his comic suit, his Mexican heritage/culture, and the fact that he's from the future so it's more, well, futuristic.

So in ATSV, they put more emphasis on his Mexican heritage, whether if it's because they wanted to bring it out, wanted more representation, or all the above. Or any other reason. Whatever it is, it worked. Motherfucker's one of the most, or possibly even the most, popular character from ATSV.

Miguel speaks Spanish and has been known to curse throughout the movie, usually in Spanish (or futuristically, such as 'shock,') as well as just use some plain old Spanish terms/words/phrases. Which is still cool.

No puedo más, no puedo más/I can't take it anymore, I can't take it anymore - Literally what it means. Used to express frustration or annoyance, or both, at someone or something.

Qué maravilla/wonderful - From where I'm from, Mexican's don't generally use this term/word/phrase. Or, at least I don't. Maybe other Mexicans/Latinos use it, but I don't. Like, at all. If you wanted to express that something is 'wonderful,' or express amazement/enthusiasm/etc, you'd use the word '¡Órale!.' Typically a slang used by Mexicans to express amazement/enthusiasm/etc, but I imagine if you used the right tone of voice/context, you could use it in a sarcastic way.

Coño/cunt - Coño is not at all a curse Mexicans use. Like, at all. No one in my life has ever said before, so it's most definetely not a slang for us. However, after some light researching, the word might just be a nod to Oscar Isaac - who we all know voices Miguel - and it's also a slang used in other Latin countries, such as Cuba, Venezuela, and Colombia. I think, correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe in some region of Mexico they use it, but from the people I know and my own personal experience, the majority of Mexican's don't, if ever, use this word. If anything, a better swap for this phrase might be 'Ay, ¡chingado(s),' which loosely means 'oh, fuck/shit.'

So Miguel's vocabulary is very colorful. Classic for a Mexican man. (I say this as a Mexican man myself.)

Now, let's talk about Spanish petnames writers use when writing about Miguel.

I would like to preface this by saying that everyone is allowed to write however they want. That's the art of writing - expressing yourself in whatever way suits you. Your writing style is yours to merge, to mold to your liking. That being said, everyone is allowed to dislike and like whatever they want.

And I fucking hate it when people use the word 'cariño' as a term of endearment 😭

A large majority of Mexicans don't use the word 'cariño.' Or at least the people I know don't. Maybe some Mexicans do, but I don't, and the people I know don't. It's a Spain word, I think, fucking Spaniards, always taking over shit.

Here's a list of petnames Mexicans use, or at least a better substitution for fucking 'cariño':

Mi vida - used by couples, literally means 'my life.' Used for any partner, not gendered.

Mi cielo - used by couples, literally means 'my sky.' 'Cielo' means sky, but it's also used for Heaven. In this context, you'd be calling your SO my sky, my Heaven. Used for any partner, not gendered.

Mi amor - used by couples, literally means 'my love.' This is the MOST common petname in Mexico, and I imagine in any other Latin country and in Spain. Another variant may just be 'amor.' Used for any partner, not gendered.

Mi corazón - used by couples, literally means 'my heart.' Other variants may be 'corazón,' 'corazoncito' (little heart.) Used for any partner, not gendered.

Now, a quick lesson.

Spanish words are gendered. Typically, it is the male gendered words that are used to refer to a group, whether it contains males or females, if that makes sense. It's not as confusing, you can search it up yourself for a better explanation but to keep this short (and for this section,) most words ending in 'a' are feminine, words ending in 'o' are masculine.

Guapa/Guapo - used by couples, not as commonly used as the above, but still used. These terms are gendered. Literally means 'beautiful,' 'handsome.' 'Guapa' is feminine and means 'beautiful,' and often used for female partners. 'Guapo' is feminine and means 'handsome,' and often used for male partners.

Gorda/Gordo - used by couples and family/friends, very common. These terms are gendered. Literally means 'fat' 😭. These words are used by pretty much everyone, whether couples, family, friends, strangers - literally anyone. If you're fat or have some pounds on you, chances are you've been called this name before. However, depending on who's calling you this, it could be a term of endearment or an insult. It all depends on the context, tone of voice, and/or person. But between couples - or at least from my experience - it's a term of endearment/teasing. 'Gorda' is feminine, and 'gordo' is masculine.

Chaparra/Chaparro - used by couples, and in some instances, by family/friends. Literally means 'short.' So if you want Miguel to call you 'shorty,' use 'chaparra/chapparo' (or call him 'chaparro' if you're taller than him ;;wink wink;;.) Same as before, these words are gendered; 'chaparra' is feminine, 'chaparro' is masculine.

Vieja/Viejo - used by couples, but can also be used for family (parents.) 'Viejo' literally means old, but it's also used to refer to as 'old man.' 'Vieja' is the feminine term and used to refer to someone as 'old lady/woman,' and 'viejo' means 'old man.' Depending on the context, tone, and/or person, this can be seen as a term of endearment or insult. As a little warning, don't go around saying this word to anyone older than you, as it can and will be seen as an insult, and some parents may also take insult to this, as well as partners. Typically, it's commonly used for more older/mature couples than the younger ones, typically used between married couples.

I remember a while ago I stumbled across a fic where Miguel called his S/O 'mija'... dude.

It all varies from person to person, and I know there's some parts of Mexico where 'mija' is an acceptable term of endearment, but personally? You'll never catch me using it 😭 'Mija' is a colloquial contraction of the words 'mi' (my) and 'hija' (daughter), similar to 'mijo' ('mi' and 'hijo' (son)). Older people, especially those who have daughters/sons/children of their own will call younger people/children 'mija/mijo,' even if they're strangers.

So using 'mija/mijo' isn't weird because people do use it as a petname for their S/O, but I just wouldn't. I just think it's weird, but whatever.

So I think that's all. Maybe I'll update this if I forget anything, maybe not. Feel free to spread this shit around.

Yeah i made my own spidersona.

INTRODUCING!

SERENA TAIRA, a 29 years old spider spirit (or ronin? Idk still contemplating)

Her lore is still in progress but i want to make her get her power from a God instead of a radioactive spider. I mean, Pavitr too aint got his powers from spider as well.

In the alternate universes, she always die young. Becoming a person who live a long life is almost an anomaly for Serena Taira. So originally, in Miguels way of thinking, she is an anomaly. Because her death caused many important upcomings. Like a narrative development.

Speaking of the devil, she was once the spider society's best member with Jess and Ben. She and Miguel works close and hold each other dearly as a friend. Sorta like Miles and Gwen. They keep something about themselves but still share something else.

But in her case, she hid her true identity. She never said her true name and hide behind "Sen Taira". Miguel's Technology couldn't recognize her because something has happened before they meet and She plead for her dimension Doctor Strange to erase "Serena Taira" existence and rewrote it. Only Serena herself and several chosen person that could keep her memories alive.

In Miguel dimension, Earth-928B, Serena Taira has died as a canon event. Because she is a police captain and his close friend. She left a fully developed AI for him as a file manager about her entire cases. Its her final gift to show her support on him to become the hero Nueva York need.

In Spider Ronin's dimension, Miguel too has died as her canon event. In this dimension, he is her love interest. Im still contemplating whether i should just make them a thing or ALMOST a thing. Because i want it to HURT.

When they meet each other again, never even ONCE Serena has take off her mask. Not even in lunch time or dinner. She even asked miguel to take off all security cameras in her room back in HQ. And Miguel, being respectful, agreed. He has never nagging her to reveal her identity.

Miguel dont know that she is his alternate version of his deceased captain.

Or... His deceased anchor.

So... Angst ensues👀

The characterization of Miguel as "the bad guy". News flash; He's not.

I keep seeing people talking about Miguel as if he's the villain of ATSV. Y'all. This is NOT true. People are paying too much attention to the train scene and not enough attention to his words and actions that are the main points of his characterization.

First of all, Miguel was NOT trying to hurt Miles in this movie.

The main reason why people think he was going to hurt Miles was because of the train scene, where he basically slammed Miles into the side of the train, but if you look into this scene more closely, Miguel wasn't genuinely trying to hurt him.

Miguel starts off with his claws extended, trying to climb up the train toward Miles. HOWEVER-

The moment he lunges at Miles, trying to grab him, his claws retract. Why is this?

Because he's not trying to hurt Miles. He's trying to catch him.

This happens again later in the movie.

See the difference? Miguel uses his claws to rip open the Go-home machine, but immediately retracts them as to not harm Miles. If you watch the actual scene, you'll see the claws slowly retract. Its not an animation error. It was purposefully done.

Sure, he was being aggressive. Yes, he was definitely gonna rage on Miles about this, but he was not going to hurt him.

Miguel is not the bad guy in this movie.

Miguel believes that canon events are real. He believes that he is really the only reason that the multiverse hasn't collapsed yet and he believes that he needs to stop Miles from saving his dad because otherwise, millions of people in his dimension will die.

Second of all, Miguel is not normally an aggressive guy.

Before I start, we don't know this for sure, but this is what I believe from what I've seen in the movie and online about him. I don't believe that Miguel is normally an aggressive person.

Since we're talking about the go-home machine, lets use that as the first piece of evidence that he's not normally an aggressive person.

Look at Peter's reaction to seeing Miguel tearing up the Go-home machine. He is petrified.

Now, if Miguel was normally the type of guy to do this, Peter would not have this kind of reaction to him going after Miles. The entire society stands back and watches Miguel demolish the machine because its never happened before. None of them have ever seen Miguel act up like this before, and its shocking. Thats why nobody reacts. Thats why they all stay silent when he's done.

For the second piece of evidence, we have how Miguel acts when explaining canon events to Miles. He is extremely calm compared to how he is in the chase scene. He is genuinely trying to relate to Miles and comfort him because he's not normally an aggressive person.

Look at his expression. Look at how his hands are up in the air, trying to calm Miles down. He's not trying to hurt Miles. He's trying to make Miles look at it from his point of view. Because from his point of view, the impacts of breaking a canon event are disastrous. He believes that every single person in Miles universe is going to die. And he believes that letting Jeff die instead, is the only way to stop it.

Miguel is a good person who's been through a lot.

To us, his ideas are ridiculous, but to him, someone who's lost so much, they're the only thing keeping everything together.

Miguel is not the bad guy in this movie. Miguel is not the villain in this movie. We already have an established villain, and its not him. Miguel is simply an antagonist. And he's definitely going to get the chance to redeem himself in the next movie.

This was kind of short. If I think about other stuff he does, I'll add on, but these are like the main two reasons I didn't think he was the villain when I watched the movie. It just wouldn't make sense for him to be the villain. He's literally Spider-man.

Well in my case, i was in high school when my school provided us students extra hours to study for upcoming national final exam and they got me real good with all sleepy hours to kept on reading and asking questions. as much as a love the works you’re all writing, a lot of people really don’t know how to write a scottish character (and that’s ok !!!! we get like no rep so) so as a scottish writer, i figured i should help you guys out a little bit.

dialogue

johnny has a VERYYY strong accent as i’m sure anyone can work out

however this doesn’t mean he’s suddenly speaking a different language

yes, a lot of slang is used and for a basic definition of scottish slang and how they should be used; use this ! if you have no idea of slang i’d recommend reading through every word

although we like to use slang, i can promise you that if we’re with someone that wouldn’t understand a word of it / someone who’s first language isn’t english, we wouldn’t speak fully scot (for example if johnny was speaking to alejandro or rudy)

there’s absolutely nothing to suggest he can speak gaelic. yeah i know this is an obvious one but i have seen a few people slip gaelic into his dialogue and that’s super duper inaccurate

barely anyone in scotland speaks gaelic (unless you’re up very high north or maybe in the isles). it’s actually almost an extinct language because the english pretty much wiped it out when we got colonised.

something i love to see is when he mumbles little scottish things under his breath. accurate af.

we say shite more than shit. and never ever will a scottish person say ass. it’s arse all the way.

we don’t call people (especially if you’re sleeping with someone !!!!) lass. or lassie. we call kids that.

pet names are normally along the lines of love, hen (my personal fave), sweetheart, little lady, bonnie (sometimes)

in scotland we’re all kind of touchy, like we’ll greet people with a hug and stand weirdly close to each other so if that’s something you’re writing about it’s important to note that our personal space is really small

not sure where people get this idea from but scotland isn’t all sheep and highlands and fairies and like little huts

yes we have that but we’re a really modern nation and wayyy to many people have a weird perception of scotland

my man is literally from like glasgow (his accent sounds glasgow but don’t quote me on that) he’s not a farmer or anything

KILTS. not skirts, very common to wear in scotland to events like weddings, christenings, anything formal really.
