1x06 – Hangover thoughts
Wow… that was one wild office party… puts all the ones I’ve been at to shame!
Also, that’s a lot of potential witnesses they need to interview(!).
Morgan using the DJ/karaoke soundtrack to piece together the timeline of the death was interesting.
Diverting away from the main case for a hot minute because flirty janitor, janitor is flirty. Is this a potential romance on the horizon? Using smudged windows was absolutely an excuse to talk to Morgan. Tom is cute. If this is her first “situationship” since her and Ludo broke up then I can’t see it being a serious thing but I enjoyed the flirting.
The victim Elaine was an absolute piece of work. And sadly reminiscent of a lot of bosses everywhere.
I loved Samantha the assistant. I had my fingers crossed the entire way through that she hadn’t killed Elaine even though mounting evidence and her convenient amnesia was damning but yay my faith paid off! Big sigh of relief. It was pure self-defence and thank god Elaine was paranoid enough to leave hidden cameras in her office or that could have gone the other way.
Karadec pulling out the affair whamy on Elaine’s husband and her former assistant was a bit meh. Why an affair? Couldn’t they have done something a little less – I don’t want to say predictable but affairs are so common place in potential murder plots, it wasn’t surprising they added that particular twist.
Eh nevermind. It was a solid episode. One thing I’ve discovered with this series is even when its not the most imaginative plot twist, its still very engaging to watch.

6x04 – Going Once, Going Twice thoughts
Cousin Patrick is as pleasant as ever I see.
If Frank spent as much energy helping Debbie by earning some cash as he does finding her a dying guy to pawn her off to, she’d probably be much better off. I’m not surprised Debbie’s gonna follow Frank. She’s not got support elsewhere.
Ian raises a valid point – why does Fiona call family meetings but then make all the decisions anyway? I get she’s the oldest but she’s not the only legal adult anymore.
Svetlana paired up with Kev and Veronica is actually a much more amusing trio than I anticipated. They work incredibly well together and it’s nice to see Kev and Veronica have plots entirely separate from the Gallaghers. I’m guessing this is a consequence of losing Sheila and Mickey as regulars.
Sean didn’t look that enthusiastic about the idea of living with Fiona. That’s not a good sign for them long-term, is it? Also, he killed someone while high? I’m liking him less and less as this season goes on, honestly.
Helene crashed and burned at her seminar. What a shame…
The Gallaghers losing the house was not a shock. It’s a fun plot that’s brought them all back together to work towards one goal so I expect another ep or two out of it. Reminds me of the earlier seasons.
Oh. Chucky’s back. Kinda forgot he existed. Sammi’s not coming back is she?!
WTF Yanis set himself on fire?! Where are Ian’s gay fireman crew when you need them?!

2x13 – Houses of the Holy rewatch thoughts
This is easily one of my favourites from the season.
Even funnier to watch in hindsight because I’ve seen eps with the angels, and they’re absolute dicks and hardly angelic celestial beings!
I’d forgotten that the idea angels were warriors was presented in this early in the series.
I do love the notion presented here that Dean believes in what he can see, while Sam can have faith in the possibility of something else being out there. Very in keeping with their personalities.
I loved Sam and Dean’s church scene so much. Dean sharing Mary’s ritual of telling him angels were watching over him was sweet. Sam just latching onto anything Dean shares about Mary, trying to build a picture of her is poignant. Beautifully acted as always. And hey, Mary wasn’t wrong, it was maybe just not quite how she expected considering how manipulative of Sam and Dean angels are down the line.
Father Gregory believing himself to be an angel was a bittersweet plot. A restless spirit unable to accept an untimely and brutal death with no comfort of last rites, trying to do some good was a lovely concept. The passing of spirit was so peaceful and moving.
The ending was interesting when Dean chased down Sam’s target and karma quit literally got him before Dean could. Sam lost a bit of faith that it wasn’t really angels intervening but in return Dean gained some after seeing a guy get what he deserves.
Dean liked that vibrating bed way too much…

6x03 – The F Word thoughts
Oh Yanis isn’t dead! Just paralysed. This is the kinda Kev and Veronica antics I missed last season while they were separated.
Frank’s genuine confusion over who Fiona is dating/married to is relatable. I can’t keep up either!
Ian’s gone from busboy to janitor to rescuing a woman trapped in a burning car. He’s keeping himself busy!
It was fun to see a good old-fashioned Lip and Ian fist fight. I gotta side with Ian on the whole “prof” thing. It’s so lazy. Just say professor!!
Frank’s sudden interest in Debbie and his future grandbaby made a lot of sense halfway through the ep. Payouts! Welfare cheques! His kids are growing up, he can’t cash in on them anymore but another little Gallagher in the house gives him an opportunity.
Carl is interested in a girl whose father is a cop. This could end badly!
Fiona giving Debbie the same speech she gave Lip when Karen was pregnant is in keeping with her attitude to babies in the house. She doesn’t want any part of it. Not that you can blame her.
The Gallaghers are getting evicted? What did cousin Patrick do? He still owns their house, right? Or maybe not now…

2x12 – Nightshifter rewatch thoughts
I adore season 2 but this is another ep I have no memory of? It’s another police heavy ep though so I’m sensing a theme here…
I liked Ronald. Ronald did not like Sam though which made me giggle. Sam’s usually the less confrontational one so nice switch up to have Dean connecting with the guest character of the week.
The Whoovian in me grinned at the Cyberman poster.
Ronald charging into the bank announcing it was not a robbery was funny.
Then he had to go and die. A shame really because he had good instincts, he was just way out of his depth. Not sure what his future would’ve been after holding up a bank at gunpoint but a sad death all the same. Collateral damage might describe it best.
I think Ronald might be one of my favourite guest characters for a while. Not memorable apparently but he was a nice addition for the plot.
I am discovering I really like plots with shapeshifters. As I couldn’t remember this ep, I had no idea who it kept changing into and I love that about them. Really adds an element of intrigued and distrust to absolutely everyone.
Sam and Dean are absolutely screwed after this and I can’t remember what happens to resolve this point of them being on the FBI’s radar now – don’t tell me, either, it’ll be a nice surprise later down the road!

2x11 – Playthings rewatch thoughts
What is it about dolls that makes them so creepy?!
The doll house replica was admittedly beautiful. If you ignore the fact the dolls reenacted the deaths of several guests in the hotel.
The long running gag of Sam and Dean being mistaken for a couple continues. Always amuses me sometimes how they either get annoyed, brush it off, or play into it. Entirely depends upon how their relationship with each other is at the time.
Drunk Sam appears in my favourite scene of the ep. And possibly favourite Sam outfit too.
Sam and Dean are unwilling passengers on this road with Sam’s powers. Sam doesn’t want to cause harm but he doesn’t know if he has any choice in the matter. Dean just wants his brother alive because they’ve already lost so much.
Sam extracting a promise from Dean to do what John asked was pretty mean – John and Sam showing how alike they are again by asking the impossible of Dean - but I guess Sam knows if he has to die, Dean would at least make it painless for Sam.
So much angst, I love it!
It was clever how they set up Megan this ep. She was never outright ignored even if people never interacted with her so the reveal she was dead was kind of a surprise on my first watch. I liked the plot overall though. Rose dying so her sister had some company in death was very bittersweet.
The Fred and Daphne reference this ep made me laugh because although I haven’t seen it yet, I know there’s a Scooby Doo crossover at some point.

1x05 – Croaked thoughts
The laser printer says it’s murder and I’m inclined to believe it!
Morgan shot Karadec… with a tranquiliser gun but still! Not sure how this will improve their working relationship!
Although in fairness, Karadec did say in ep 2 (I think) that they need to listen to each other. Karadec wasn’t listening to her. Drastic measures were necessary.
Oz is adorable with kids. Getting the description of the guy by using Marvel characters as a comparison was clever. I do really like this supporting cast in Oz and Daphne. I hope to see more of them and how they interact with Karadec and Morgan going forward.
Morgan and Ludo during the discovery of Ava’s birth control pills was a funny scene. Both were right in what they were saying.
It’s nice to see an ex-couple get along and co-parent. So many times they say that’s what they’re doing but unnecessary drama crops up. Not with these two. They’re actually doing it together. Very refreshing.
This never happens so I am absolutely going to brag but I was right about the vet! As soon as one of her clients said his rare exotic spider passed away in her care, I knew it would be a fake out death and she was selling them on for a profit! I’m glad the guy got his spider back but I feel so sorry for the pet owners that never got theirs returned.
Ha, Karadec actually wore the shirt Morgan recommended for his date.
I snorted my drink when Morgan called a child a potato because she was hungry. That’s a mood right there.
This was a good murder plot and had some fun twists and turns with the adoption plot.
No one really won, there were a lot of lives ruined with this scheme. Probably my favourite ep so far. It was fun, not too heavy but engaging.

6x02 – Abortion Rules thoughts
Fiona’s own version of spiralling apparently involves micromanaging and rallying the family to persuade Debbie to have an abortion. I’m not on the receiving end of it and the nagging is annoying!
I’m with Ian. You can’t tell someone what to do with their own body.
Carl has standards for selling weapons. Freaking out your asshole brother isn’t good enough but protection is fine. Interesting. Where is he getting all of those?!
Ian’s drifting through life right now. Not a surprise really. Be interesting to see what he ends up doing.
Fiona’s reaction to Sean’s relapse annoyed me though. The first thing she does is ask if this is another thing for her worry about? What? She came across as very self-centred.
Why is Kev trying to turn Amy and Gemma into the next Williams sisters?
And the Alibi now has karaoke. Gotta give it to Svetlana. She gives the hippies what they want.
Fiona and Debbie’s fight was hysterical. Lip was brave breaking them up.
Fiona’s pregnant now too?! What the hell is in the water at the Gallavich house?
OK Kev might just have killed Yanis by cutting his breaks on the bike…

2x10 – Hunted rewatch thoughts
I love this ep, it’s easily one of my favourites of the season.
Sam’s in danger, Dean goes out of his mind with worry, Sam kicks Gordon’s ass, Dean in protective big brother mode? What more do you want from a SPN ep?
Dean literally begging Sam to step away from hunting shows just how terrified he is. All he knows for certain right now is that there’s something brewing with the demons that Sam is at the centre of and he’s doing the only thing he knows which is protect Sam and if that means stepping away, he’s gonna do it.
I love Ellen. Her screw the universe, family comes first attitude is so in keeping. She was absolutely right to tell Dean where Sam is. Sam’s being stupid.
I liked Ava – obviously I like her a lot less in later eps but that just goes to show how YED twists his special children up and corrupts them.
Dean’s worst fear about hunters getting wind of Sam’s powers and just deciding to do their job nearly comes true here. It was brilliant to watch him slowly loose his mind, not gonna lie.
Even Sam is more on edge, constantly nervous because he’s not got his brother watching his back.
Dean never stops pleading Sam’s case to Gordon. He absolutely refuses to believe Sam’s capable of what Gordon thinks he can do.
Sam’s tried running from hunting before. I think this is the first time he admits getting out the game won’t protect them.

6x01 – I only miss her when I’m breathing thoughts
Fiona and Sean are now a couple? OK no more beating around the bush for them I guess. Not sure how I feel about that? Kinda lost interest in them since it took so long for the writers to decide what to do with their relationship last season. I’ve gone cold on them.
Lip, don’t take photos of your sleeping professor in your bed in what is clearly your dorm room after a night of obvious debauchery. For a smart guy, Lip sure is stupid. I assume this “relationship” (which I hate as much as I did Ian and Kash’s) will be exposed at some point. Just a question of when.
Frank’s mourning of Bianca is… a lot. He managed to get through like 5 religions in one day! I suppose we should be glad he didn’t call Monica like he did after his mother died.
Wait, Carl was released from juvie for good behaviour?! Wonders never cease! Super excited he’s back though and with a plot that looks like it could be decent? How’s he gonna be on the outside with all those connections he’s made in gangs. Nick especially looks scary huge but I’m getting vibes of Lenny from Of Mice and Men about him.
The Gallavich scene was super depressing. I know Mickey returns – not sure if its for more guest spots or as a regular again – but this was still a painful scene.
Debbie’s gonna be a single mom after Derek splits. Show of hands who didn’t see that coming? Predictable but I’m gonna give it time. Maybe this plot will surprise me in some way.
This season opener feels like a more direct continuation of last season than the previous. Doesn’t feel like there’s been a significant time jump.

2x09 – Croatoan rewatch thoughts
This is always a weird ep to watch. The plot of the demon virus thing isn’t actually all that important beyond learning Sam’s immune. We already know YED did something to him and the other kids. Nothing new really learnt there.
It’s an insanely emotional ep to watch though. All the worries Sam and Dean have just come pouring out.
I have to hand it to Jared and Jensen. They knocked this ep out the park. Especially that scene where Dean refuses to leave Sam. You know he’s serious when he just hands over his car keys.
The implication Dean has nothing to go on for if Sam’s not there is gut wrenching.
And also insane. Sam might be turning rapid because of a demonic virus and Dean is just "you go, I go too".
I’ve seen Swan Song but not season 6 so I’m not sure how Dean copes without Sam at that point. If it’s anything like Dean at this point in time is implying, it sounds like he’d just be doing an imitation of going through the motions. Be interesting to see if I’m right.
This ep always leaves me feeling unfulfilled. Not in a bad way. There’s just no resolution to the plot. And even Dean and Sam’s conversation ends on a cliffhanger.

2x08 – Crossroad Blues rewatch thoughts
Ah the wonderful crossroad demons arrive! And the hellhounds of course. Can’t possibly forget them. Who’d have thought these two plot points would’ve ended up being so important?
This ep is a great introduction for them both.
I only really liked the guy who made a deal to save his wife. Everyone else made the most selfish deals they could. Even that guy who painted made it for his own gain ultimately even if the deal didn’t turn out exactly as he expected.
Importantly though Sam and Dean finally now know John did strike a deal to save Dean’s life.
Ironically Dean mentions this ep did any of them ever stop to think about the person who’d be left behind… He was constantly questioning what made them even consider dealing with a demon. I get his annoyance with the greedy ones but that guy did it to save the woman he loves. Perfectly sets up the finale for me with the foreshadowing that Dean will go to the same lengths to save Sam.
I really did love Dean this ep. I don’t think he’s just mourning John, I think he’s mourning the loss of their family. The dreams of what came after they killed the YED, when the Winchester family could finally be done with revenge. Dean pictured the 3 of them together.
Sam was absolutely right when he told Dean John’s legacy is his sons. Everything he taught them, all the people they’ve saved (and will save) is John’s legacy. Killing YED is just a bonus.
Ugh a Myspace reference… makes me feel old remembering the days of having one of them!
For how important the lore is that gets introduced in this ep, I’m always amazed at how unassuming the ep actually is. It just let’s the idea of demon deals and hellhounds sit in the back of your mind as foreshadowing that there’s probably more to come from this since crossroads are all over the place …

1x04 – Survival Mode thoughts
Ah the mandatory child kidnapping arc. Lots of procedural shows tend to do these. This particular one hit all the traditional plot points but it still felt fresh!
And tense! So much tension! Did a great job building the suspense.
I was feeling that insomnia mood Morgan was going through. I have had many, many nights like that.
I didn’t think for a minute that the father was responsible for his kids disappearance. Someone generally concerned about environmental impact and wanting to leave the planet a better place for kids like he was depicted was never gonna have hurt them.
Karadec grabbing a trowel rather than digging through the dirt like Morgan was a fun continuity nod. I’m glad they remembered he doesn’t like dirty hands.
Karadec broke protocol by not going through Soto to issue an amber alert? I mean, she didn’t seem mad but big step for Karadec!
The CPS woman is super stupid. She wrote a fake report, took bribe money, told Ashford that Wendall was gonna out his scams… I’m with Morgan, what exactly did she think was gonna happen?!
I like that Karadec immediately shouldered the responsibility for going ahead with the ransom. He could’ve laid the blame at Morgan but nope. He felt ultimately responsible for the choices too.
This ep did a great job showing Karadec and Morgan are slowly starting to trust each other’s instincts and actions. They had some good team work and rescued the girls! Who were admittedly very clever to use their father’s taught knowledge of the wilderness and saved themselves until they could be rescued.
I wasn’t expecting it to be the family driver… probably should’ve done in hindsight since there were no other characters introduced. The reveal was fun at least.
Morgan finally got some shut eye!

2x07 – The Usual Suspects rewatch thoughts
I have absolutely no recollection of watching this ep? And I know I’ve watched this season at least 3 times all the way through so I have seen it before.
Not exactly a memorable one but I can see why I think?
It’s not bad. It’s just sort of there. Shoehorned in between the breakdown of the Harvelle ladies and the Winchesters, and the introduction of the crossroad demons (that obviously play a huge part of later arcs).
I enjoyed the storytelling aspect of this – the going back and forth between Sam and the detective and what happened in the run up to their arrest.
Sam and Dean’s complete lack of care that they’d been arrested was funny. It was just a minor inconvenience for them!
I adore how Sam and Dean communicate with each other in various codes. They have a fail safe for literally any situation in case they get separated. I loved their lawyer’s reaction to them, he had no idea what to make of them! Both of them calling him Matlock was funny!
Unsurprisingly, the detective was very willing to hear Sam and Dean out once her own life was in danger. I liked her. She was engaging, and knew something wasn’t right and followed her gut.
The spirit being a death omen seeking justice rather than a ghost seeking revenge was a nice change of pace.
I’m not a huge fan of the police heavy eps because the police being sceptics about the supernatural is immediately expected and the guest actors who play the police are often a bit hammy and go OTT with their performances.
But like I said, I enjoyed the actress this ep – who I think was the poltergeist actress.
