CHAPTER EIGHT - AVATAR OF MAYARI, PROTECTOR OF THE NIGHT.
As you stepped into the threshold of your manor house, the chill of the evening air clung to your skin. The soft glow of lamplight greeted you, casting warm shadows across the hallway. You cannot help but let out a huge smile on your face, still on high from the wonderful dinner night you’ve spent with Steven Grant. He was a very easy pick from the pool of candidates you’ve had for the tour guide position, and you look forward to letting him know that he will start working with you from next week.
“Good evening, Lady Carter”, Bill greeted you at the doorway, taking the liberty of taking your coat. “How is your evening?”
“It went pretty well, Bill”, you smiled serenely before your phone suddenly chimed from your bag. You got it and slid the lock screen open, immediately reading the text message you’ve received from an unknown number as it lit up your screen.
Hey, Marc Spector here. I’m really sorry to do this, but something urgent came up for me and Steven tomorrow. Rain check on our coffee lunch?
You frowned, your heart sinking as you read the text. But you did not allow that feeling to consume you, trying to focus on the fact that it might be a real, personal emergency that he needed to attend to. Your thumbs moved deftly over the screen as you tapped out a reply, the disappointment hiding behind your understanding words.
Of course, Marc, I hope it’s nothing too serious. We can definitely reschedule, just let me know. It's no problem at all.
You tossed your phone back to your bag and sighed, feeling a twinge of disappointment. But before you have the chance to dwell on it further, a familiar voice echoed in your head, a gentle, ethereal whisper that pulled you from your thoughts.
"Mira, aking tapat na lingkod" the echo of a haunting voice reverberated in your mind - the voice of your patron goddess, Mayari. “Sinasamo kita”
Mira, my faithful servant. I summon you.
“Bill”, you called, prompting your trusted companion to stand at attention. “I’m being summoned by my patron goddess. Please advise the staff and tell them I am not to be disturbed at the third floor”
“As you wish, Lady Carter”, Bill nodded, well-aware of your nightly duties as the avatar of Mayari. He knew the drill well and would ensure your privacy while you attended to your divine obligations.
With a sense of duty and curiosity, you excused yourself from the entryway and made your way up the staircase, your steps echoing through the dimly lit corridor. The study awaited on the third floor of your grand ancestral home, with its balcony overlooking the moonlit garden. You pushed open the ornate wooden door, entering the room as your surroundings were bathed in a soft, silvery light.
The room itself is a repository of ancient knowledge, lined with shelves filled with dusty tomes, relics, and artifacts from generations long past. It serves as your tranquil sanctum, a harmonious bridge between the ancient traditions of Filipino indigenous spirituality and contemporary living. In one corner, an altar stands adorned with images and statues of your ancestral spirits and indigenous deities, where flickering candles and offerings of fruits and incense create a tangible link to the spiritual realm. Throughout the room, an array of healing tools, from crystals to rattles, bear witness to your transformative practices.
With a deep breath, you close your eyes and summon your powers. A warm, soothing energy envelops you, as if the very essence of the moonlight seeps into your being. You can feel the presence of Mayari, the ancient moon goddess who has chosen you as her vessel. It's a connection that transcends time and space, and you revel in the privilege of being her earthly conduit.
You open your eyes, and the transformation begins. Your ordinary attire fades away, replaced by the ceremonial robes of your past life as a punong babaylan (head priestess). Intricate patterns of maroon and silver thread adorn the black fabric, glinting like stars in the night sky. A headdress of woven fabric and moonstone crowns your head, a symbol of your divine lineage.
Kneeling on the floor, you turn your gaze toward the balcony as you await her arrival, the night air cool against your skin. You can hear the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of crickets, all harmonizing with the symphony of the universe. It's a moment of profound tranquility, a connection between the mortal and the divine.
“Diwatang Mayari”, you begin to utter the sacred words, the incantation passed down through generations. “Tinatanggap ko ang iyong pagsamo bilang isang tapat na lingkod”
Goddess Mayari, I accept your summons as your faithful servant.
And then, as if the heavens themselves have heard your call, Mayari descends from her celestial abode. She appears as a luminous figure bathed in silvery light, her presence filling the room with an otherworldly grace. Both her blind and good eyes, like twin moons, fixate upon you with a mixture of wisdom and compassion.
"Mira, aking anak" she says, her voice like a gentle breeze, "Tumindig ka at magbigay galang”
Mira, my child. Rise and pay your respects.
With great reverence, you stand before the moon goddess, the weight of your role as her avatar sinking in as you lower yourself in a deep bow.
"Ikinagagalak ko ang iyong pagparito, Mayari”, you say, your words imbued with sincerity. "Anong maipaglilingkod ko sa inyo, aking diwata?"
I am humbled by your presence, Mayari. How may I be of service to you, my patron goddess?
Mayari's gaze softens, and she gestures for you to rise. "Isang mortal ang nangangailangan ng iyong pagtatanggol. Siya ay minsan mo nang natulungan sa isang dayuhang lupain, at ngayo’y muli niyang kakailanganin ang iyong tulong”
There’s a mortal who needs your protection. You’ve helped her once in a foreign land, and now, she requires your aid once more.
Your heart quickens as you absorb her words. "Nasaan siya, Mayari?"
Where is she, Mayari?
“Nakikita ng aking balintataw na siya’y nasa isang madilim na kalye sa parte ng Tondo”, the goddess's radiant form seems to shimmer as if she's peering into the threads of fate. “May mga masasamang loob na nagnanais wakasan ang kanyang buhay”
I see in my divine eye that she’s in the dark streets of Tondo, pursued by nefarious beings who seek to end her life.
“Paroroon ako ngayon din”, you spoke next, actively tracing her location through the protection spell you’ve placed, which has now been activated.
I will be there right away.
You summoned a portal with your moon magic, and it opened before you like a rip in reality. Stepping through, you found yourself in the dimly lit alleyways of Tondo, where the witness was cornered by her pursuers.
As you arrived at the scene, the air was thick with tension, and the flickering street lights cast eerie shadows on the narrow alleyway. Your heart pounded in your chest as you surveyed the situation. The witness, a young woman, cowered against the graffiti-covered brick wall, her eyes wide with fear. The assailants, three menacing figures clad in dark attire, closed in on her.
You took a deep breath and focused your energy, tapping into the ancient power that flowed through your veins. Moonlight bathed the scene, and you began to weave your moon magic. With a wave of your hand, you exerted your will upon the assailants, seizing control of their bodies. Their movements became sluggish, as if they were fighting against an invisible force. They soon stumbled and fell, their weapons clattering to the ground.
Summoning your own ceremonial suit of armor, you adorned yourself in the traditional garments of an ancient warrior from your own time. Your white and gold baro and tapis magically wrapped around your body, while the baluti (metallic breastplate scale armor) started to materialize and clung to your form. Your hand woven headpiece cloth was secured around the base of your head, and your ebony hair streaked with white blonde highlights was meticulously arranged in a low bun.
With your dual yantok (escrima sticks) held firmly in both hands, you approached the witness's assailants, your heart pounding with the adrenaline of battle. Moon magic flowed freely from your weapons through the intricate carvings on its surface, infusing your strikes with a celestial power. Still under the influence of your moon magic, the assailants moved awkwardly, their bodies betraying them. You moved with grace and precision, your training in the ancient martial art of arnis evident as your weapon sliced through the air and striked with lethal accuracy.
The first assailant lunged at you, but you effortlessly sidestepped their attack, delivering a swift blow to their chest. The assailant crumpled to the ground, unconscious, as the moon's magic flowed freely from your weapon. The other two assailants, realizing they were facing a formidable adversary, tried to regroup and attack simultaneously. They came at you from both sides, their movements still sluggish under your control. With lightning-fast reflexes, you parried their strikes and deflected their blows. You countered with a flurry of strikes, hitting them with calculated precision. One of them stumbled back, clutching their arm in pain while the other collapsed to the ground, unable to withstand the relentless assault. The moon's magic surged through you, infusing your every move with strength and power.
Finally, the alley was silent, save for the ragged breaths of the fallen assailants as they were knocked out. You turned to the frightened young woman, who gazed at you with a mixture of awe and gratitude. She recognized you as the interpreter that assisted her in your previous assignment.
“Sino ka? Paano mo nagawa iyon?” her voice trembled as she asked.
Who are you? How did you do that?
You offered a reassuring smile and spoke with a calm, soothing tone. "Ako ay sinugo ni Mayari, ang diwata ng buwan," you replied. "Narito ako upang protektahan ka"
I am an avatar of Mayari, the goddess of the moon. I am here to protect you.
The young woman's fear began to ebb away, replaced by a sense of relief. "Maraming salamat," she said, her voice filled with genuine gratitude. "Pero papaano sila? Masusundan ba nila ako ulit?"
Thank you. But what about them? Will they come after me again?
You considered her question carefully, knowing that your actions had consequences. "Hindi," you said firmly, your voice filled with conviction. "Hindi ka na nila muling masusundan."
No. They will not come after you again.
Her eyes held a glimmer of hope, but there was a lingering concern. "Matatandaan ba nila ang mga nangyari ngayong gabi? Matatandaan ba nila ako?"
Will they remember what happened tonight? Will they remember me?
You gazed down at the unconscious assailants, your brow furrowing in concentration. With a wave of your hand, you extended your moon magic to erase their memories of the night's events. Their unconscious minds were wiped clean, and any knowledge of the witness and their sinister intent was gone.
"Wala silang matatandaan," you assured her. "Ligtas mula sa kanilang mga kamay ang iyong katauhan at ang mga naganap ngayong gabi"
They will remember nothing. Your identity and the events of tonight are safe.
The young woman nodded, her gratitude evident in her eyes. "Maraming salamat muli. Hindi ko na alam ang mangyayari sa akin kung hindi ka dumating."
Thank you, again. I don't know what I would have done without you.
You offered her a reassuring smile before turning back and starting to walk away. Before you could take your leave, the young woman's curiosity got the better of her. "Sandali, makakalimutan ko din bang nakita kita?"
Wait, will I forget seeing you too?
You hesitated for a moment, contemplating how much to reveal. Protecting your identity was paramount, but a sense of trust had been established. "Patnubayan mo ang guhit ng kanyang kapalaran, aking diwatang Mayari." you replied cryptically, leaving her with the same parting words as your last.
Guide the lines of her fate, my goddess Mayari.

Rain belted against the window as snowflakes drifted down, coating the ground and the tops of the trees in a sea of white. A heavy mist filled the air shielding the night sky above and creating an eerily beautiful scene. The melodically haunting howl of the wind echoed as it slipped through the crack under the wooden door.
You stood staring out beyond the glass at the wild weather. The soft crackling of the flames from the open fireplace was almost as calming as the warmth that radiated throughout the room. You pulled your thick cotton shawl further over your shoulders, breathing in the scent of fire, wood and the remaining berry tea you’d made for yourself earlier.
“There’s my sweet love.” A low and soft voice murmured into your ear as you felt hands slowly snake around your waist.
“Bucky.” You whispered, leaning into his embrace and closing your eyes as he rested his head upon your shoulder.
Both of you stood in content silence for a short time.
“How are we feeling tonight sweetheart?” He asked like the gentleman he was, nustling into your neck lovingly.
You giggled softly at the sensation, your eyes still resting on the outside world in front of you despite your attention being drawn to the super soldier behind you.
“I’m alright.” You replied quietly.
He raised an eyebrow, aware that you’d see it through the reflection of the window. “Just alright? Well, that’s not good enough, we can’t have that now can we.”
It was a rhetorical response as Bucky lifted his head off your shoulder. He then skilfully and gently spun you around so you were facing him, being careful not to hurt you with his metal arm as he did. All the while not breaking his hold.
“I can help, if you’ll let me.”
He stared down at you with his soft but utterly mesmerizing steel blue eyes that in all your years of knowing him never ceased to steal your breath away. You were completely entranced by his gaze. All thoughts that had previously occupied your mind were now a distant memory.
Life tended to move fast, so much so that neither of you had ever had a chance to just stop and enjoy it. Since Bucky was no longer at war and had regained control over his life you had decided to take him on a little winter getaway. Just the two of you, in hopes that it would help ease his ever racing mind and soothe some of his pain. Even though you had checked the weather before coming, it had only spoken of the cold so nothing had prepared either of you for the brutal storm that had blown in unannounced. You were lucky to have remembered to have stocked up on food and warm clothes.
The wind kicked up again and a draught slipped in through the crack under the door breaking your concentration on the soldier and causing you to recoil slightly with a shiver.
A frown passed over Bucky’s face and he stepped away from you, taking your hand while his vibranium one gently pressed against your back as he guided you over to the soft velvet couch that sat in front of the fireplace.
“Wait here.” He uttered as he sat you down before leaving your side and disappearing upstairs.
You pulled your legs up close towards your chest, snuggling down into the corner of the couch. Your fingertips traced meaningless shapes into the velvet.
Just as quickly as he’d left, he returned holding a large blanket and an old draft stopper which he placed by the door, pushing it with his foot to ensure it was secure. He then wandered back over to you and wrapped the blanket around you, stroking your hair before placing a light kiss on the top of your head.
“Thank you dear Bambi.” You mumbled, watching as he dropped his gaze to the floor, a soft smile appearing on his face. The out of pocket nicknames you seemed to come up with for him always made him chuckle.
It warmed your heart to witness that smile knowing too well how rare it was with all that he seemed to carry on his shoulders which often left him with a heavy weighted stare that scared and intimidated anyone who didn’t know him.
You tapped the empty spot next to you, “stay with me?” You asked quietly.
“Of course darling, I’m not going anywhere.” He muttered gently, flopping down beside you with a relieved sigh.
You manoeuvred your body so you could curl up against him. He rested his arm over you and at the same time his vibranium arm dangled over the armrest.
A few moments later, without any warning the wind made the door of the cottage bang aggressively against its hinges causing Bucky to startle, panic rising inside of him as his head snapped up in the direction of the sound. You happened to have your hand resting against his chest so you felt his heart rate spike.
You sat up a little, “hey, it’s alright Buck.” You reassured him.
He returned his gaze back to you, noticing the look of concern in your eyes. He was hit with a pang of guilt. “Scuze,” (sorry) he whispered, switching almost instinctively to Romanian.
“No no, don’t apologise my love. After everything you’ve been through you’re allowed to be scared.” You raised your hand to gently caress his cheek with your fingers. Feeling him lean into your touch you smiled. “You’re safe, you don’t need to be a soldier right now. It’s just us. You can just be Bucky.”
He slid his arms back around you once again, pulling you close to him. You rested your head against his chest, listening to his heartbeat as it steadied with every breath.
You could have stayed like that for hours and really there was nothing stopping you.
The combination of the wind outside and the rain falling against the roof sounded almost like a song. The fire crackled and illuminated the room in a soft orange glow. It was actually the sound of the kettle whistling that pulled your attention away. You looked up at Bucky knowingly and without a word you sat yourself up to allow him to stand.
“Would you like some more tea, pebble?” He asked, looking over at you.
“Yes please.” You replied with a gentle nod.
Bucky disappeared into the kitchen. Only to return a few minutes later with two cups of tea. He carefully gave the one in his metal hand to you, holding it so you could grab the handle.
“It’s hot sweetheart, please be careful.” He cautioned.
You nodded and smiled gratefully at his concern. There was literal steam rising from the surface of the liquid and so you placed the mug down on the table to let it cool for a bit. You leant back into the couch, tugging the blanket around yourself as it had slipped down when you had moved.
You rotated your head to stare out the window from where you were sitting, a gentle sigh leaving you. In all honesty, this hadn’t been exactly what you’d had in mind when you had suggested spending some time away. You’d been hoping for some down time, sure, but also the thought of a peaceful walk through the wintery woods had been your driving reason for coming—besides Bucky of course—you had always been one to enjoy being out in nature rather than being confined indoors. So this really was no picnic for you.
Bucky must have noticed your slight shift in mood because he uttered, “you know. There might be a storm right now but think of the pretty angels and snowmen we can make once it’s over.”
You turned to look at him, your eyes glistening with excitement upon hearing his words.
“I’m sure we can spare a carrot or two for a nose.” He continued with a soft grin. “And we’ll find some sticks to make arms.”
“And pebbles for eyes!” You added with a light giggle.
Bucky laughed softly before taking another sip of his tea, his eyes never leaving you as he did. There was just something about you that left him all giddy like a love struck puppy.
You leant forward, picking up your cup of tea off the table. You brought it up to your lips and took a tentative sip to test the temperature. It was sweet like berries with a hint of honey and mint just the way you liked it. You gulped down more with a satisfied sound, feeling the tea warm your insides.
You stole a glance over at Bucky seeing that he’d put his mug down and was still staring at you. All of a sudden you felt hyper aware. “What? Why are you looking at me like that?” You whined defensively, clutching your mug close to you.
“No reason, you’re just really cute.” His eyes were beaming as brightly as his smile.
You looked away quickly before returning your gaze back up at him again. You felt a faint heat rising on the tips of your ears and across the back of your neck as you softly bit down on your lip. You had choked on any remark that you had wanted to make. It wasn’t often that you got flustered but when you did it was always because of Bucky.
Taking one more sip of your tea, you put the mug back down.
A rumble of thunder echoed off in the distance signaling an incoming storm. You had barely noticed how the sounds of the current storm had calmed down over the past twenty minutes.
“I’m not cute.” You mumbled insistently, shooting Bucky a soft disapproving glare but dropped it shortly after, finding yourself unable to hold his dazzling blue gaze.
The sunshine smile on his face morphed into what you could only interpret to be a flirtatious grin as he placed a hand under your chin gently forcing you to look up at him causing your stomach to flip as your heart skipped a beat.
With a slight growl he muttered, “you are.”
You melted right there and then.
He left no time for you to argue because he pulled you into a kiss. The hand that had previously rested on your chin, now slinked down to your hip. He paused for a moment as if silently asking if you were okay, but when you gave him no objections he used his vibranium arm to support himself as he guided you to lie down. He climbed on top of you, causing you to giggle adorably as his eyes remained locked on yours.
“How are you feeling now, sweetheart?” He recalled his question from earlier.
This time you held his gaze unwaveringly, the light heat had spread to your cheeks.
“Better, t-thanks to you.” You stammered.
It continued to confuzzle him as much as it did you to think about how he’d become so lucky to have you in his life. He could never seem to understand, no matter how hard he tried.
“Я тебя люблю, Y/N.” He murmured.
Of all the people in this universe and you chose him.
A thunder rumble louder than before echoed across the sky causing the room to vibrate as the rain began to fall again just as fast as you had for the soldier above you.
“I love you too Bucky.”
He smiled warmly at your words, using his right hand to gently tuck a strand of hair behind your ear and out of your face. “Y/N?”
He looked away from you for only a moment as if reconsidering.
“Yes?” You prompted him, furrowing your brows softly in curiosity.
When he looked back, you searched his eyes, trying to get a sense of his thoughts which you were usually good at doing but there was something behind his eyes that you couldn’t quite read. Even when he spoke his next words, all you could feel was the weight of importance.
“I’m with you ‘til the end of the line.”
He knew you would never understand the true meaning behind what he’d said, but it didn’t matter. He meant every word now, just as he had the first time he’d said it to the best friend he’d loved all those decades ago.
You stared at him for a minute, taking in his words before grabbing the front of his shirt and pulling him into another kiss.
“As am I. It’s just us, til the end of the line.”

“Hi, Bucky.”
Instantly, he sputtered over his mouthful of cereal, eyes watering from his food going down the wrong way.
Bucky knew that melodic voice before his gaze even reached its owner. You entered the kitchen, wiggling your fingers at him in greeting.
Clearing his throat, he swiped his bowl to the side, his breakfast now forgotten about, and directed his attention solely onto you. “Hi—um h—hello, doll.”
The muscles of your cheeks lifted up to your eyes in a smile that made Bucky swoon. Hard.
Your eyes fell to Sam then, who stood in the corner, fresh from a workout with a shit eating on his face. “Good morning, Samuel.”
“Mornin’, beautiful. How did you sleep?”
Bucky fought the growl rising in his throat, the unprecedented possessiveness caving its way through its internal barriers in your presence.
You grabbed a bottle of water out of the refrigerator and closed the door, leaning your back against it to take a big gulp.
“Not bad at all.” You licked your lips, ridding the dryness that came from a long slumber before your eyes lit up. “Oh, by the way! I drank some of that tea you recommended. It’s helped a bunch—”
Bucky zoned out while you continued to express your gratitude to Sam. He couldn’t help the way his eyes dilated as he rested his head in the palm of his vibranium hand, a lovesick sigh escaping his lips. You were just so gorgeous – a deity in human form right in front of his own very eyes. Bucky had never considered himself so lucky in all his time on earth to be within your vicinity.
In his own world of oggling, Bucky didn’t notice how the conversation fell short between you and Sam. Neither did he realise how the two of you were staring at him; you with concern and Wilson smothering his laughter with his hand.
“Bucky? Sweetheart?” He finally registered that you were speaking to him and almost choked, again, on his own spit.
“Mhm?” Bucky murmured, drunk off your attention.
You smiled once again, so devastatingly beautiful that his left arm whirred in stupor. “Are you okay? You feeling alright?” Not waiting for a response, you walked over to him and Bucky almost let his eyes roll to the back of his head when you lifted your wrist to his forehead. “Jeez, you’re a little hot, Buck.”
Sam keeled over in hysterics, unable to keep his composure any longer. Meanwhile, a bright red blossom of colour rose up from the skin of Bucky’s neck all the way up to his cheeks.
Had Bucky not been embarrassingly infatuated by you, the throwaway comment wouldn’t have had any effect on him. But this was you. The woman who had the ability to make him melt on the spot.
While logic and a basic level of common sense screamed at him that you were talking about his temperature, his mind could only conjure up the fact you had called him hot.
Bucky saw your mouth moving, however he couldn’t concentrate on the sound of the words coming out of it. You were still touching him, patting his cheeks and sweeping the tendrils of hair that had fell out from behind his ears out of his face. The close proximity of your bodies threw him through a loop and without even realising, his thighs spread further, subconsciously begging you to forego all boundaries and smother yourself against him.
Gently tapping his nose three times, you managed to gain his full attention again. “You seem out of it, sweetie. Maybe you should go down to the medbay. See if you’re coming down with a fever or something.”
Sam blew out a breath of air. “Yeah, because that’s what’s wrong with him.”
You threw a lighthearted glare his way before bringing your eyes back to Bucky. “Promise me you’ll get seen to?”
How could he refuse when you asked so sweetly? “Anything you want.” He vowed sincerely.
Scrunching your nose, you chucked his chin and whispered under your breath, “Good boy.”
Bucky almost whimpered when you withdrew your hands and stepped back. He so desperately wanted to follow you and nudge your arm until you paid attention to him once more. Your touch was fire and a cool breeze all at once. Electricity that created static across his stubbled cheek, yet also stoked a warmth through his entire body.
Peace. He’d never felt anything like it. Never before felt drunk from just the delicate essence of a perfume or experienced the loosening of his limbs, relaxing until his legs felt like jelly whenever you so much as cast him a glance.
You grabbed a piece of fruit from the table, ready to go down to the gym and train. “Catch you later, Sam,” you called over your shoulder. Meeting Bucky’s eyes a final time, you winked while you headed for the elevator. “Bye, sweetheart.”
Bucky’s gaze was glued to you, following you out hopelessly until you were completely out of sight.
He was fucked — well and truly out of his depth.
Sam crossed his arms and smirked. “You are down bad, man.”
Bucky swiped a hand over his face, sighing deeply. “Fuckin’ tell me about it.”
“This is serious.” Sam sobered up, his lips softening into an honest smile.
With an embarrassingly loud thud against the island countertop, Bucky let his head drop. “I have no idea what to do, Sam. I thought this crush would have passed by now but it’s been months.”
“Well,” Sam raised an eyebrow. “Have you even tried asking her out?”
“And why would I do that?” Bucky asked, genuinely confused.
Sam sputtered over his words. “What do you mean—Because that’s what people do when they like someone, you dumbass!”
Bucky had lost enough braincells daydreaming about you constantly. He didn’t need to be told what he already knew. But the pressure of asking you out to then have a chance of being rejected? He would never come back from that. “Yeah, no thanks,” he mumbled.
“Come on, man. What’s the worst that could happen?” Sam asked.
Bucky lifted his head up and huffed sarcastically. “Oh, I don’t know. Maybe she could turn me down and rip my heart out into little pieces, so much that I would hide out in my room for the rest of eternity never to be seen again?”
“Now you’re just being dramatic.”
Bucky sighed longingly. “Let me wallow in my misery alone, Sam.”
“Why? So you can spend your days staring at her with your googly eyes and drooling over her.”
“I have never drooled over her,” Bucky snarled.
A twinkle shone in Sam’s eye, a mischievous grin donning his face. “Then what’s that on your chin?”
Bucky’s eyes widened and he quickly brought his hand up to his face to check if he did in fact have any wetness coating his mouth. Finding none, he looked back to Sam with a scowl. “I hate you.”
Sam shook his head with laughter. “You shouldn’t make it so easy to tease you, loverboy.”
With a growl, Bucky lifted from his seat and stormed out of the kitchen.
The irritating voice followed him. “Don’t forget training tomorrow morning, loverboy!”
Tumblr media
The sun was shining over the compound the next morning and so came the bright idea from Steve that all exercise activities should be held outside. While the recruits in training buffed up on their sparring with the Captain, the rest of the avengers worked out as they saw fit.
As usual, Sam took any opportunity possible to annoy Bucky, which brought them together, running laps around the outdoor track.
“When are you gonna man up and ask her out then, Cyborg? Pretty girl ain’t gonna be available forever.”
Bucky wasn’t entirely sure why he didn’t run ahead of Sam. It wasn’t as if he couldn’t. Maybe the pace he kept alongside Wilson allowed him to stare at you so clearly in your tight workout leggings and sports bra as sweat sensually rolled over your skin. Maybe.
“I’m not asking her out, Sam. Drop it.”
Sam huffed out an annoyed breath. “Listen, man. It’s not as if you’ve got nothing going for you. As much as you’re a grumpy shit, you’ve got them blue eyes the chicks love. Gets them all gooey when you give them intense eye contact, y’know?” He reluctantly added, “And they dig the brooding, bad boy, leather jacket vibe.”
Bucky let out a rare smile within the presence of Sam. “You tryna hit on me, Wilson?”
“Look, all I’m saying is you have a chance.” Sam slyly glanced over the field. “And if you don’t quit fuckin’ around, that chance is gonna disappear.”
The smile instantly dropped from Bucky’s face. “What do you mean by that?”
Sam’s signature smirk came back with vengeance. “Your girls lookin’ kinda cute today. So I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but you ain’t the only one who’s got their eye on her.”
Naturally, Bucky followed his instinct and let his eyes look over at you. You were a fucking wonder, of course he knew that. But heeding Sam’s ominous warning, Bucky allowed his gaze to venture out, only allowing you to blur into the background for a couple of seconds while he took stock of the other male, and female, recruits.
Low and behold, plenty of other people wantonly stared at you while you completed your circuit, almost salivating over their barely concealed pining. As much as Bucky hated to admit it, the fucker was right. You were the pinnacle of everyone’s attention.
With the way you were bending over, squatting and looking like an angel amidst the perspiration the sun brought on, Bucky wasn’t sure if he could actually blame anyone for it.
That didn’t stop the ugly, green eyed beast within him that wanted to tear everyone’s eyes out for daring to glimpse at you.
It was silly, he knew he had no right to feel any sort of possessive nature for you. Unfortunately, you didn’t belong to him. Still, he couldn’t control the deep rooted urges that whispered the kinds of fun he’d have gouging out eyeballs that looked where they weren't supposed to.
Knowing he had stirred the pot enough, Sam figured it was time to try and hit the final nail in the coffin in order to make his friend move his ass. “Y’know what gives you an advantage though, man?”
Bucky continued to death stare the surrounding agents, while keeping up with his steady jog. “What’s that?”
“Guess who’s making eyes at you right now.”
At breakneck speed, Bucky snapped his head back around to you, only to indeed find you staring at him with a fire in your eyes and your bottom lip trapped between your teeth.
A violent shudder ran down his spine and for a moment, the whole world stopped on its axis, allowing Bucky to revel in a daydream brought to life.
That was until his mind snapped him back into the present. The super soldier was majestic on his feet in a fight, graceful yet utterly dangerous out on the field even with the pressure a mission came with.
However to his utter bewilderment, you happened to be the most dangerous being he had ever come across, because in all of his years as a trained, professional assassin, Bucky had never, never, tripped over his own feet.
And so, inevitably, Bucky’s face ungracefully met the asphalt of the outside track with an audible thunk.
A collective of gasps, oo’s, and ah’s, rang around the large group. Bucky could physically feel the coating of red, hot embarrassment climbing up to his now scratched cheeks.
Bucky couldn’t see the look of shame and pity on Sam’s face as he dropped his head into his hands. All he was capable of was fantasizing faking his own death and moving far, far away where no one who witnessed his fall could ever find him.
With a painful, deep groan, Bucky managed to roll himself over. He couldn’t bear to open his eyes and allow himself to accept reality yet and so he kept them closed, waiting for the ground to swallow him up or for the beaming sun to slowly incinerate him, melt him into the ground with his shame and dignity.
But instead of either of those, a shadow casted over him, the harsh brightness behind his eyelids dulling down. Slowly, he peeked an eye open, only for mortification to kick him in the gut when he found you standing over him.
“You alright there, Soldier?” Your hands were set on your hips, those deliciously curved grooves of your body that he had shamelessly stared at one too many times during gym sessions.
“Mhm,” he gulped, his Adam’s apple bobbing roughly. “Just peachy.”
Even though you’d just seen him eat dirt, in front of hundreds of learning recruits and the rest of the avengers, your smile was kind as you held out your hand. “Need some help?”
Bucky took your offering, sliding his clammy palm into your dry one and hoisted himself up with your grip. He hadn’t needed your help, he was a super soldier with a metal arm; an agility and strength beyond normal human ability. But he wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to feel your soft skin against his.
He couldn’t look you in the eye as he stood up, aware of your gaze glued to him. “Th-Thanks.”
“It’s not a problem,” you said. “Although, you’ve got a few nasty looking cuts on your cheeks.”
Bucky brought his left hand up to his face, hissing when the cool vibranium stung the open wounds. “Ah, it’s nothin’—don't worry about it. Nothing a few hours won’t fix.”
You shook your head fondly. “Well, how about I walk you to the infirmary and we get some ointment on them? It wouldn’t hurt to be cautious.”
Bucky choked on his own spit and snapped his eyes to yours. “W-We?”
Your smile was blinding — so beautiful with an ability to stop time. At least for him anyway. “Yeah, why not? It looks like you could use a hand—y’know, since you’re a little clumsy on your feet today.” The cheeky smirk that followed your words almost sent him to an early grave.
His cheeks blazed. Bucky was sure he looked utterly stupid, with his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. But he couldn’t help the effect you had on him. “I um—I— ha, I guess.”
Your eyes glinted mischievously. “I’ll take that as a yes?”
Not trusting his voice to hold steady, Bucky simply nodded.
“Great,” you approved. “Just one question though, are we going to keep holding hands on the way?”
Looking down to the space between you, Bucky felt his mouth dry when he saw that he hadn’t yet released his hand from yours. “I’m—oh fuck—I’m so sorry.”
Still, he made no move to slacken his grip.
You tightened your lips, and he knew you were willing yourself not to laugh for his sake. Sam would have a fucking field day with this.
Though to his surprise, instead of pulling away like he expected you to, you began pulling him along, hands still interweaved. “Let’s go get you cleaned up, Bucky.”
His name on your lips was akin to a siren singing her song; dragging helpless seamen to their deaths. A thought crossed his mind then, that he didn’t think he would mind so much if he sank to his reckoning, not if your voice was the last thing he ever heard.
“Okay.” Bucky followed you blindly, eyes glued to your conjoined hands and disbelieving of his luck.
Tumblr media
You had led the way towards the medbay and found a cozy, private room that the doctors used for small injuries. Bucky sat impatiently on the side of the medical bed, twiddling his thumbs and fidgeting restlessly. Never had he been so close to you, alone.
Bucky internally prayed with all his faith that you couldn’t hear the rapid staccato of his heartbeat. He was sure if he was hooked up to a monitor, the doctors would be thoroughly concerned about his health.
Finally having gathered all the supplies you deemed necessary along with a first aid box, you walked back over to the bed and dumped everything next to him.
“So,” you began, an uneasy conspiratorial tone to your voice that weirdly reminded him of Sam. “Wanna tell me what happened out there?”
“I—,” Bucky sheepishly scratched the back of his neck while his cheeks bloomed crimson red. “I must’ve just tripped over my own feet.”
He tried to shrug off his nonchalance, but he knew by your raised eyebrow you didn’t believe him. “Somehow, I have a hard time believing a big, strong super soldier such as yourself has any trouble finding his footing.”
Before Bucky could muster up any other excuse but the truth, you ripped open the packet of a medical wipe and warned him, “I’m sorry. This is gonna sting.”
“Nothing I can’t handle,” he said with bravado.
Bucky wasn’t prepared for the twinkle in your eye as you mumbled under your breath, “I’m sure it isn’t, Sargeant.”
The breath got knocked out of his lungs. Oh did that do things to him.
Suddenly, vivid images of you spread out on his bed wearing nothing but his old army hat while you screamed out his rank ran wild in his mind.
Luckily, you were too preoccupied with cleaning the dried blood of his wound to notice him discreetly palming the bulge in his athletic shorts, trying to hide the effect you had on him.
“Are you certain there is absolutely no other reason as to why I’m playing nurse right now, then?” Your feline grin was sexy and scary. “No possible distractions that led you off path?”
There was no way you could read minds, right? Bucky doubled down on his denial, shaking his head from side to side and letting the length of his hair hide the truth in his eyes.
“I’ll take your word for it then.” You finished up and reached for the healing gel. “I know the serum enhances your ability to repair the cuts, but I’d still like to use this.” Looking into his eyes, you asked, “Only as long as you’re okay with that, of course.”
Time stopped and the two of you were caught in the other’s gaze. It was such a small gesture, one you probably didn’t even realise meant the world to him. But you asked him for permission on something that would affect his autonomy and if Bucky didn’t already have a hundred ways he was falling for you, that would have been the cherry on top.
“Yeah,” he breathed airily. “Yeah, I’m good with it, doll.”
Unseen to him before, you ducked your head and sweeped your hair behind your ear and if Bucky didn’t know any better, he was sure you were shy.
He couldn’t help the large grin he sported. He was always so enamored with you, quick to falter in your presence and become unsure of himself. Right now though, a small bout of bravery returned. “Ready when you are,” he cheekily murmured.
You hastily rushed to compose yourself. Clearing your throat, you squeezed the tube of gel, allowing a small drop of the cool liquid on the tip of your finger and stepped between his legs to gently dab it onto his cuts.
“Okay, you’re all fixed up now.” With a last swipe of his forehead, you smiled. “Don’t worry, Buck. You still look handsome.”
He tugged his plump bottom lip between his teeth. “You think I’m handsome?”
You giggled. “I would be blind if I didn’t.”
Bucky blinked at you slowly, still processing your words and trying to calm the excited bubble rising in his throat.
You rolled your eyes playfully. “Oh, don’t act all coy, Bucky. You must have heard the whispers of the recruits. They stare at you all the time, whispering and giggling to each other.”
With the most confidence he had ever mustered up, he responded, “Truthfully, I’m too busy staring at someone else to notice, doll.”
The shock of his sudden boldness was glaringly obvious on your face — it was you this time who held your mouth open, lost for words.
Bucky’s body screamed at him to tell you that he was in fact head over heels for you. That had he known falling over in front of the full compound would lead him within a hair’s breadth away from you, he’d do it all over again.
But you seemed to recover after a couple of seconds, clearing your throat and making yourself busy to avoid his eyes. “So, I’ve got another question.”
“Oh?” Bucky cocked his head.
“Yeah.” You smiled while placing everything back into the first aid box as you found it. “I’ve been hearing a few rumours around the compound recently.”
Bucky’s stomach dropped with dread.
“You wouldn’t know anything about those, would you?”
“I—” Bucky swallowed the lump in his throat. “I have no idea what you mean.”
“Oh,” you hummed. “So it’s not true then? You don’t have a crush on me?”
Fuck.
Panicking, Bucky scoffed, though it came off sounding too pathetic, too breezy. “Me? Have a crush on you? That’s—Ha! Nope. No way. Not at all.”
He watched as you nodded to yourself. Internally, he was begging for the floor to swallow him while he cringed at his own stupidity.
“Well,” you shrugged. “That’s a shame, I guess.”
Bucky’s head shot up, eyes wide and shock written over his features. “E-Excuse me?”
“Oh, it's nothing really.” There was a sparkle in your eye that screamed trouble. “You said you didn’t have a crush on me, so it doesn’t matter.”
Within seconds, Bucky jumped off the bed and leapt towards you, not even noticing how he had grabbed your hands. “Doll, please. You can’t leave a guy hanging like that.”
Playfully rolling your eyes, you dramatically exhaled and decided to put him out of his misery. “Leave you hanging? Damn, Buck. It’s not as if I’ve been waiting patiently for you to ask me out for months or anything like that.”
The air became humid and stuffy and suddenly the clothes attached to Bucky’s body felt too tight and restricting. “You—What now?”
You rolled your lips inwards, trying to smother your laughter. “Bucky, honey,” you gently murmured. “I’ve heard what the others have been gossiping about. I’ve definitely heard Sam telling the team about your crush on me.”
Bucky squeezed his eyes shut and groaned. “That fuckin’ punk.”
You squeezed his hands reassuringly and offered him a warm smile when he looked at you. “I’ve just been waiting to hear it from the horse's mouth himself.”
Bucky’s eyes darted between yours, trying to find any hint of decievement. “You’re serious.”
“Mhm,” you whispered. “Deadly.”
It took him a couple of seconds to let the new information sink in. Clearing his throat, Bucky untightened his fierce grip on your hands and hesitantly slid them down to latch onto your waist. “So,” he mumbled. “Say if I asked you out to dinner tonight… You wouldn’t tell me I’m a fool and break my heart into a million pieces?”
Butterflies erupted in Bucky’s stomach at the sensation of your hands sliding over his chest to rest against his neck. “No, Bucky,” you chuckled. “I would tell you that I’m looking forward to our first date, tonight. Nowhere fancy, just casual. Six o’clock sharp.”
Bucky smiled, all beaming and ecstatic. “I wouldn’t dream of being late.”
“Good.” You leaned up onto your tip toes and ghosted your lips over his ear. “See you very soon then, Sargeant.”
Tingles shot down Bucky’s spine and his eyes rolled to the back of his head. He fought tooth and nail to crush the moan that rose up his throat and in his internal struggle, he missed how you’d sneakily slipped out of his hold and started to saunter towards the door.
He almost begged you to come back; the thought of having to wait for you until the evening was unbearable. But those pesky butterflies that invaded his stomach came back strong and fierce as his gaze became glued to the sway of your hips and the sweet perfume that lingered in your exit.
“Oh,” you stopped suddenly at the doorway and looked over your shoulder. “One more thing. Don’t go tripping over again, you hear me?” You raised an eyebrow and grinned. “Can’t have you falling for me.”
Your damn smirk was intoxicating and Bucky thought himself the luckiest fella alive to be the one taking you out. He licked his lips and crossed his arms over his chest. “I’m afraid I’m gonna have a little trouble with that request, Ma’am.”
The clench of your thighs was unmissable. The way your eyes dilated called to him. Bucky had more game than he realised and he kept that new information tucked safely into the corner of his mind for a later date.
You didn’t reply. You didn’t need to. Your actions told Bucky everything he needed to know and so he wiggled his fingers with a huge grin locked onto his face and watched you longingly as you left his sight.
The minute he couldn’t hear your footsteps any longer, Bucky pumped his fist up into the air and began dancing on the spot.
In his own bubble of happiness, he didn’t hear the footsteps of a new person entering the hallway. Only when an amused clearing of the throat echoed from the doorway did Bucky abruptly stop his dancing and slowly swivel to the intruder.
Sam stood there, all cocky and mirthful with a shit eating grin on his face. “About time you bagged the girl, man. Dont’cha think?”
Instantly, Bucky growled and grabbed the closest apparatus. With a pair of medical scissors, he charged towards Sam, who was quick to wipe the smirk off his face and skid out of the room with a scream.

Every Part of You
Pairing - Grumpy!Bucky Barnes x Sunshine!Reader A.N. - Alright, I've been asked to write about Bucky and Sunshine's first time many, many times. And the thing is, like sure, I could write that, but also I want us to take a moment to consider trying to build up to that. There's so many firsts buried in there that I think need to be navigated through before they even get there. This is one of those firsts. Like the first time you see Bucky's shoulder.

Tumblr media
"You're just- " You stop speaking, searching for his lips again. Though you're breathless, you can't bring yourself to pull away from him, "You're so pretty."
You shudder as you feel his hand slip under your sweater. The occasional graze of the cool metal on your skin enough to send shivers down your spine.
His lips trail down, nipping at your jaw, "I'm not pretty."
Your hands, winded in the hair at the nape of his neck, glide down his neck, to clutch the fabric of his henley. The moment he feels your fingers toy with the collar of his shirt, his heart hammers against his ribcage. Not in the sort of way that he usually feels in these moments with you. He feels a sense of dread, of panic. It wraps around his spine like a python. It feels like he can't breathe.
"You're so -"
He wrenches away from you, his chest heaving, "Stop, stop, stop."
You freeze, immediately dropping your hands. Panic starts creeping up your throat, coating your words. "Did I - did I do something wrong?"
He gulps, silently shaking his head. It takes him a moment to regain his composure, to regain the ability to speak clearly, "No, no, you're - you're perfect."
Guilt starts to eat at him. He can see you doing your very best to keep your own feelings off your face. He can see the sting of his rejection in the way your lips press together in a tight line. The embarrassment in the pallor of your once flushed cheeks.
You two have worked so hard to overcome your own personal issues and traumas, to build trust in each other, moments like these hadn't come easy. And he so callously pushed you away, it makes him feel worse. And what makes his heart ache even more, he sees nothing but concern for him shining in your eyes. You just look so worried for him.
Your hands rest in your lap. You twist and untwist your fingers. "If you don't want to, we don't - we don't have to do anything. I'm really sorry -"
"No, no, please don't be sorry." He reaches for you, gently squeezing your hand. It soothes him as much as it does you. "I want to. You don't know how much I want to."
"But?"
His eyes squeeze shut. He can't bring himself to meet your eyes. "You haven't seen it before - my arm, my shoulder."
"Oh."
He drops your hand. That feeling takes over him again. It feels like there's not enough air in the room. He slides away from you, closer to the edge of the tiny couch in your apartment. "It's - I am not pretty."
It breaks your heart, watching him pull away from you. You can only imagine how many people have turned away from him before. "James..."
He fervently shakes his head, refusing to open his eyes, "No, no, I know what you're gonna say, but it's bad. A lot worse than you're thinking."
"How do you know what I'm thinking?"
"It's bad," he insists. "I see it every day and I can barely - it's just bad, okay?"
You take his hand, squeezing it tightly. "It's okay if you don't want me to see it. I understand."
He finally opens his eyes again as his eyebrows pull together. He still doesn't meet your eye. "No, no, I want to - I trust you with this, I do. I just - I want you to be prepared."
In that moment, you realize that it's not really about preparing you. Not at all.
He thinks you're going to react badly. He thinks that this will make you turn away from him for the first time ever. He's worried that the love and adoration in your eyes will turn to disgust and repulsion.
It's less about preparing you for the scarred flesh, and more about warning you that he couldn't take a bad reaction. He's not sure he could take it if you turned away from him too.
"I love you," you promise him. "There's nothing that you could show me that would change that. I hope you know that."
There is no response to that. And you know that he won't believe it until he sees it. It takes him a moment. His hand toys with the hem of his shirt. His hand grips the hem, only to let it go.
"I love you," you remind him.
He takes a large gulp of air, pulling off his shirt with one quick movement.
You weren't really sure what you were expecting. You knew the story. You knew how Bucky lost his arm. He even confided the bits and pieces he remembered from getting his vibranium arm.
Your eyes trail over his skin. The shoulder is scarred, scars jut in every direction. Each scar is etched into his skin. It's clear it was a painful, violent experience for him. The metal plate protrudes from the scar tissue in a way that you're sure was painful when first placed. You look on with curiosity, you're not really sure how this, a sign of survival, a badge of resilience, could ever make anyone turn away from him.
He's as breathtaking as you could ever imagine.
Your eyes flicker up at him. He looks at the blank wall of your apartment, scared to watch your facial expressions as you take it in. "Can I?"
He nods, barely able to look you in the eyes. He sucks in a breath when your fingers make contact with the scar tissue surrounding the metal plate.
You immediately pull your fingers back, worried you've accidentally hurt him. "Does it hurt?"
"No," he answers reflexively.
You know he's lying. "I've seen you holding your shoulder before - holding it like it hurts."
"Sometimes," he amends. "The doctor said there's a lot of nerve damage. Things they can't fix."
"Does it hurt now?"
"No."
You run your hand over the plate, over his scars, down to his shoulder blade.
"Still think I'm pretty?" he sarcastically remarks.
You press a gentle kiss to his bare shoulder. "I'll always think you're pretty. Every part of you."

“So, do you know yet what your costume’s gonna be for the omega kappa beta party?”
“Alice,” you looked to your friend leaning against the opposite side of the kitchen island, “I don’t even know if I’m going.”
“Oh, come on,” her head tilted, “you have to!”
“Yeah,” the blonde to your right then teasingly suggested, “you could go as an angel since you’re already just as sweet and pure as one.”
With each passing moment, the end of October crept ever nearer. You were at a slumber party with a few of your friends, who unlike you, didn’t still live at home with their mothers, but instead in a sorority house on campus.
The door to the kitchen then swung open and one of the other girls came waltzing in, “hey, look what I found!” she held what looked like a faded board game above her head.
“Oh my god,” Alice gasped, “is that what I think it is? Where did you even find it?”
“The attic,” she plopped the box down on the table and the lid popped off, letting everyone spot the old Ouija board inside, “so, anyone up for contacting some ghosts or what?”
When everyone around you swiftly agreed in the spirit of the season, you were the only one who didn’t, although the teasing that quickly drowned you, about you being a scaredy cat, pressured you into joining despite your initial fear.
Most of the girls leaned into your amusing anxiety and made the game more dramatic than it needed to be, taking every chance they got to make you jump in your seat. But none of their attempts rivalled the one towards the end when one of them spooked you so fiercely that your body shrivelled up and a shrill scream tore its way out your lungs. They all laughed at your reaction and abandoned the board, too entertained by the success in scaring you to continue and wrap up the pretend ritual in the proper way.
However, during every second of the eerie game and even ever past that, you felt the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, though it wasn’t just because of how scared you admittedly were, as there was someone else, something else, that caused that sensation to bubble up within you.
For the entirety of the rest of the night, you felt as if you were being watched. However, what you mere mortal didn’t know, was that the group of you college girls hadn’t been successful in communicating with any spirits on that autumn eve, but instead had been successful in cracking open a door, just wide enough for a demon to slip through.
From the second the sliver of him slipped through, Bucky felt drawn to you and instantly became completely and utterly entranced by you. Your soul was so bright and pure it nearly blinded him as he felt himself grow stronger merely from your presence.
Who would have thought such luck would have been on his side, for with a perfect and potent little virgin like you in his gasp, an entity such as he would be able to restore his full power in no time.
And when you eventually fell asleep on the couch and he greedily let his spectral touch ghost across your form, sliding off your blanket and coping a feel over your pyjamas, each caress he ravenously claimed felt to him like his lungs once again expanded and filled with oxygen, like he became a little more corporeal and regained just a little bit of his powers the longer and the fiercer he groped you.
Though what he truly needed to regain his full potential, unfortunately, had to wait, as his demonic grip caused you to stir from your slumber just enough for you to roll over into a new position and fall asleep again, never to think more of it than just a light slumber. But perhaps if he kept it up long enough, he’d soon regain enough of his prowess to make sure you wouldn’t rouse no matter what he stole from you in order to return to the grand demon he used to be.
Tumblr media
The home you returned to the next day was just as empty as expected with only a kind note stuck to the fridge as an echo of your mother, reminding you that she wouldn’t be back from her business trip till far into the coming week.
When darkness fell upon the town and the moon rose up high in the sky, you went up to bed and swiftly drifted off into sleep.
As Bucky leaned down over your slumbering form, he smiled as he let a finger trace the edge of your face before he bent down and pressed his lips to your own.
Now, it wasn’t just a kiss he gave you, but a fiendish hex that forced your frame to keep on sleeping, no matter what, until the sun once again crested over the horizon.
“As much as I’d love for you to wake up and have you witness everything I’m about to do to you,” he brushed some of your hair out of your face, “we can’t have that,” his broad thumb briefly stroked your cheek, “at least not yet…”
Ripping the duvet off, he watched as goosebumps rose and dotted your skin from the chilly night air, how your nipples turned into pebbles beneath your thin nightgown.
While his consuming gaze raked down your form, his grasp pushed your sleepwear up and let it bunch around your hips, granting him a view of how the cotton of your underwear moulded around your soft centre.
A smirk twitched at the corners of his lips as he let himself drift back down, closer to your slumbering frame, “let’s see if we can fix this little problem…” before he pressed a hot kiss to your covered core, briefly running his split tongue over the fabric as the effects took hold.
When he tilted back, it wasn’t just his own saliva that now drenched your panties, but also your own juices as he had successfully scrounged up enough of his power to force your pussy into a state of desperation, making it extraordinarily leaky and sticky with cream and quite literally drool for him.
With a primal growl, the throbbing between his legs swayed him to dig his grip into your underwear and tear them off, tossing the shreds off to the side before he spread your legs wide.
Enclosing his fist around the base of himself, angry and flush in his grip, he offered himself an ouch of relief as he stared down at you.
“Hell… what I wouldn’t give to hear you moan and scream for me… to see fear arise in your mortal eyes at every little thing I’ll offer you… but that’ll have to be another time… can’t have you wake up and ruin the ritual…”’
As he rubbed his fat cock against the mess he’d made of you, he couldn’t help but smile at the staggering difference as his unholy length weighted down upon you, making you look so tiny in comparison, so easy for him to just break.
“Would you beg me to stop? Would you cry about how big this devil dick is? Whimper about how you couldn’t possibly take it, not even if you weren’t a pure little prude? Yeah, you probably wouldn’t even be able to take it then…” a dark chuckle then crackled within his broad chest, “good thing I don’t care,” before he ruthlessly slammed his cock inside, stretching your poor pussy out beyond belief.
He let out a deep moan at just how incredible you felt around him, how he had to strain himself to work past your strangling tightness and bury himself completely in your haven.
“Oh, well would you look at that…” a sly smile crept up on his lips as he glanced down at how you struggled to take him and spotted the tinge of crimson that stained his fat girth as he momentarily retracted, pulling out just till your cunt only clung around the bulbous head of him. His digits floated down to swipe some of your virginal blood up onto the pads of his fingertips before he brought them up to his lips and groaned as he let himself taste your ruined purity, letting himself regain even more of his vigour, “you are just fucking perfect…”
As he let his frame drift down closer to you, he draped himself over your slumbering form as he thrust mercilessly into you, watching you closely at the way his efforts caused you to writhe and tremble in your sleep.
Nibbling at your neck, his lips wandered further down as he ruthlessly rutted into you, splitting you open like the savage monster that he was, and eventually sank his sharp teeth into your shoulder.
With a low growl, he pushed himself back up, though even as the movement threatened to let his colossal cock leave the warm embrace of your tiny hole, his hands roughly found your hips and brought you back down onto him.
“Fuck…” he lifted your hips off the mattress and made your back arch obscenely as he used you like a toy, “you’re such a little whore and you don’t even know it yet…” his possessive grip dug into your hips so fiercely that his nails drew blood and left angry scratches in their wake.
His black eyes then found the dull bulge that rhythmically appeared in your lower belly at each and every one of his thrusts, “can’t wait to see how you react when you wake up tomorrow morning, all sore and swollen, wondering why you’re so sensitive. If only you knew that some big bad demon followed you home and tortured your pussy all night long…”
Perhaps his brutal fucking had forced your slumbering form to orgasm more than once, though it was hard for Bucky to ignore it when you came this last time as you squirted all over his fat girth.
“Fuck, you’re so perfect,” he chuckled and kept up his ruthless rhythm, never pausing once as he made your gushing pussy give him each and every drop, “I knew it was true that virgins pack the most powerful punch for us unholy folk, but damn…” he slammed you down against him hard enough for his bullying tip to bruise your cervix, “you’re even better… I might just have to keep you after this…”
And when he soon tumbled over the edge and pumped your little pussy full of his demonic seed, his ethereal form flickered till it wasn’t at all ghostly any longer, till his full power regenerated and he now sat on your bed clear as day with his spent cock limp against his thick thigh and horns protruding from his temples.
Briefly, he swept his broad hand up your stomach before it scooped down to where you leaked with his essence.
“Look at you,” he pushed two fingers into your mess and pumped his hot cum that much deeper inside of you, “you’re still so fucking tight…” he struggled to force another thick digit in beside the others. As his cock began to twitch and swell once more, he quietly groaned, “guess that just means we aren’t done yet… you might have helped me with my little problem, but this ain’t over,” he tried and failed to slip his picky finger in beside the rest, “I haven’t finished breaking you in yet, little human,” his free hand found himself in silky strokes, “I won’t stop till you’re fucking gaping for me, till I fit my whole fist up in here,” his thumb quit its attempts at sneaking inside and instead extended up to crudely strum your puffy pearl, “till you’re utterly ruined and completely perfect for me…”
Tumblr media
The bassy music rumbled the entire frat house like an earthquake as you leaned over to whisper to Alice that you’d be right back from your libation location mission.
Though when you stumbled into the kitchen, the crooked feathery wings on your back brushing against the doorframe as you passed, a loud sigh escaped you as your eyes scanned the various bottles lined up on the messy counter and discovered them all to be empty, “argh, seriously?”
That was exactly what you needed.
To be at a wild Halloween party without any alcohol in your system to make the obnoxious people more bearable and make you forget how you’d rather just go home and try to sleep as none of your efforts all weekend had granted you any ounce of rest, only left you more exhausted than the day before and bizarrely enough also making you sore in the oddest of ways.
But then as all hope seemed lost, a voice echoed from the corner of the kitchen, “hey, you like tequila?” and you glanced up to see a man in an elaborate demonic costume holding up a full bottle for you to spot.
“Thank you,” your tense shoulders dropped slightly as you offered him a smile and stepped closer, “though I don’t know if an angel like me should accept a drink from a devil like you,” the joke slipped out of you as you neared him.
As a bright grin crept up on the man’s lips, he light-heartedly squinted down at you and played along, “hm, yeah, you’re probably right. We demons are an untrustworthy lot. But, I am your only chance at getting drunk and numbing these dumbasses out,” he seized a plastic cup and began to twist the cap off, “so, what do you say?”
“What’ll it cost me? To make a deal like that with a devil?” you kept up the gag, “just my soul or do you want my firstborn or something?”
Naturally assuming that the handsome stranger was still just joking around, you saw him smile as he poured you a drink and uttered, “oh, your soul will do just fine, sweetheart.”
As he handed you the cup, he joined you as you raised the hard liquor up to your lips, taking a sip of his own straight from the bottle, though he somehow didn’t make a face like you did when the harsh booze poured down your throat, in fact he didn’t even blink as he tipped the bottle back and kept his intense stare glued to you.
“Your costume is really amazing,” you complimented as you let your gaze wander over his burly frame, “your coloured contacts? And those horns? I’ve never seen prosthetics as good as those before.”
You thought the flattery would have pushed him to elaborate, but instead, the mysterious man just murmured, “thank you,” and didn’t entertain the subject any further.
“I don’t think I’ve seen you around here before,” you uttered and noticed the few grey hairs that faintly speckled his scruff, “are you a professor?”
“No, I’m not,” he shook his head.
A shiver ran down your spine as his stare continued to stay glued upon you, “then what are you doing at a frat party? No offence, please don’t take this the wrong way, but you just look a bit too old to be a student. Not that you couldn’t be, maybe you are–”
“I’m not a student,” he cut you off, “I just haven’t been feeling that well lately and the person who helped me get better is here, so that’s why I went out tonight, to this college party of all places, to thank her properly and hopefully make her all mine…”

"Whatcha gettin' ready for, doll?" Bucky leaned on your bedroom doorframe, watching you straighten your hair in the mirror on top of your dresser.
"I have a date." You smiled, not noticing the slight drop in Bucky's smile.
"Oh, with anyone I know?"
You shook your head. "His name's Nash. Someone Sam set me up with," You explained. "He's supposed to pick me up in twenty minutes."
Bucky internally rolled his eyes. The guys Sam hung around with were nice, yes. However, he never got the guts to take you out on the date you deserved. A date with him.
"Are you sure you want him picking you up?" Bucky asked, making you look back in confusion. "I mean you don't know him that well... You could meet him there or uh, I'll drop you off." You let out a small laugh, "Yeah Buck, I'll just have my male roommate drop me off at a date, that'll go over well."
Bucky shrugged. He walked away from your bedroom to grab a beer from the fridge before sitting on the couch. He turned on whatever channel didn't require him to use the remote too much before slouching into the cushions.
Twenty minutes passed by when you slipped out of your bedroom, shutting the door behind you.
"Wow, doll. You.." Bucky's eyes widened slightly, "You look great."
You grinned, looking down at your outfit. It was basic but it was the most comfortable yet fashionable outfit you had. Black flared leggings with a sage green sweater and some white sneakers. It was simple yet appropriate for a late-night-diner date.
And to top it all off your makeup had cooperated for once. Both eyebrows looked like twins and not sisters. Your highlight was perfect, shimmering, but not too much. And you had the perfect lipgloss that made your lips look sunkissed. Perfect.
"He should be here any minute!" You sprayed some perfume, your favorite vanilla scent, and went to sit in the armchair across from the couch.
Bucky hummed, keeping his eyes on the Tv, taking another sip of beer.
However, twenty more minutes went by and Nash hadn't texted you, hadn't called, and hadn't shown up. Bucky was starting to feel bad and you could tell by the pity looks he kept throwing your way.
"He uhm," Bucky cleared his throat, "Maybe he hit traffic. You know, with it being New York and everything." You nodded, trying to hold onto at least a small bit of hope. "Yeah, traffic." But then another forty minutes went by and he still hadn't even texted.
And then another hour.
And another hour.
By the time Bucky finally turned off the Tv it was three and a half hours since the time Nash was supposed to come pick you up.
You were still sitting in the armchair, having dozed off with a couple tears streaked down your face. Ruining your once-perfect makeup.
Bucky sighed, silently cursing Sam even though he knew it wasn't his fault.
"Alright, doll," Bucky whispered, placing his metal arm behind your back, and lifting your legs with his right. You groaned awake, holding your phone in your palm as you wiped your cheek. "What time is it?" Your eyes shoot open, "Did he show up?" Bucky placed you in your bed, handing you one of his t-shirts you had stolen a while ago. "No, doll. I'm sorry." You stripped your shirt off to change as Bucky went into your bathroom, grabbing a couple of makeup wipes.
"Here." He softly spoke, hating your distraught and disappointed expression.
You wiped your makeup off, shedding a couple more tears in the process. The tears dripped from your cheek to the grey henley Bucky had given you. "It's okay. Maybe he was just busy." Bucky wanted to roll his eyes. He wanted to tell you that any respectful man, any gentleman wouldn't have done what Nash did to you. But he kept his mouth shut, opting to hum in your favor, and threw the makeup wipes in the trash when your face was completely bare.
"Goodnight, Doll." He placed a kiss on the crown of your head as you hummed in response. "Goodnight, Buck."
---
A couple days later, you finally got a text back from Nash.
"Bucky I was right!!" You came sliding into the kitchen, your socks making it easy to ice-skate on the smooth wood floor.
Bucky chuckled at your ability to skid so gracefully without falling. He had tried it once but vowed to never do it again after he slid into the dining room table. You would never let him live it down.
"Right about what, doll?" Bucky flipped the pancake, adding some vanilla to the dough.
"About Nash! He actually was busy!" Bucky quirked an eyebrow. Wondering why he had waited this long to text you back. Six days to be exact. "Did he say with what?" Bucky turned back to making breakfast.
"He said he got busy with work, and that something at work pissed him off so he didn't wanna see me while he was upset." You explained what Nash had told you.
Bucky had never wanted to hit someone in the face so hard.
Well, actually that wasn't true. But he did want to sock Nash in the face for standing you up and giving you a half-ass excuse days later.
"I mean that explains things, yeah..." Your brows furrowed at Bucky's flat tone. "Do you not believe it?" Bucky sighed, pulling the milk and eggs from the fridge as you sat on the countertop. "It's not that I don't believe it, it's just that it kinda seems like he forgot and or didn't wanna see you so he made up an excuse a little less than a week later to not seem like a dick." You nodded, taking in the information. Bucky couldn't sense your reaction quite yet, seeing how you were just staring at the ground with your hands in your lap, swinging your legs in the air.
"I mean, I'm seeing him tonight. If everything goes well after then I'll know it really was true."
"You're seeing him again?" You nod, "But this time I'm meeting him at the fourth corner Bakery. And I'm meeting him earlier this time, around noon."
Bucky looked over at the clock, seeing it was already 10:45. "Well you better go get ready," He said almost reluctantly, "Breakfast will be done before you need to leave."
You smiled, hopping off the countertop as you gave Bucky a quick kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, Buck. You're the best!"
He smiled, but then remembered he's only making you breakfast before you go on a date with a guy who's already stood you up once. Rolling his eyes, he scrambled the eyes, listening to your music in the other room.
---
You had already left for your date three hours ago when Bucky decided to go over to see Sam. His excuse was wanting to discuss the next mission they were due to go on in a week. But he just didn't want to sit at home all day, thinking about how you were on a date with another guy.
However, before he could reach Sam's he had to pass by the bakery where you were meeting Nash.
Yet when he looked through the window, there you were, sitting all alone at a table for two, eating a piece of cheesecake. No Nash in sight.
An internal war started in Bucky's mind. Should he go in and see if you were okay? Or should he believe Nash was in the bathroom and you were just sitting by yourself for a minute or two?
But then he noticed the solemn look on your face. The way your fork poked at the half-eaten cake. And that was your favorite kind. Bucky mumbled a soft curse, opening the door to the bakery and making his way over to you.
Without words, he sat down, his gloved hand resting on the table in front of your plate. You kept your head down, not quite looking at Bucky but knowing he was there.
"He didn't show, again." You mumbled. If Bucky didn't have super soldier hearing he doubted he could've heard what you had said.
"I know, doll. I'm sorry." You finally looked up, tears in your eyes which made Bucky's heart clench. "Why me, Buck? Why am I the one who's alone?" Bucky stayed silent, knowing you needed to vent.
"Am I unlovable? Is that what it is? Why does every single one of my friends get to find the one? Get to fall in love, get married, and have kids and I'm the one without someone?!" Your outburst made some other customers look over in concern.
You groaned, resting your head on your hand and hiding your face from the rest of the bakery. "I- uh, I'm not sure, doll. But I know one thing.. you're not unlovable. You just haven't found the one who wants to take the effort to show you how effortless you are to love."
You looked up at Bucky, fresh tears gleaming in your eyes. You had never seen him look so vulnerable before. He usually grumped his way through emotions. But not with you, not anymore.
He gave you a sad smile, clearing his throat before he stood, "Y'know what, doll. Let's go." He held out his hand. You looked around, "Where are we going?" Bucky took your palm in his gloved hand, "It's a surprise." You laughed, before standing and throwing the rest of your soggy cheesecake away. "You know how I feel about surprises." "Okay, I'll give you a hint." Bucky opened the door for you, making sure to walk on the side of the road with the bustling cars and traffic. Bucky called a taxi, opening the door for you. "You're about to have the best date of your life." You stared at him in awe before laughing and climbing in the taxi. Bucky's knees barely fit as he scooted in next to you. The driver asked where to go as Bucky licked his lips, "Brooklyn, please." You smiled, "Brooklyn?"
Bucky nodded, throwing an arm around your shoulder. "I may be old but I still know some good spots to take my best girl on a date." A blush rose to your cheeks as you looked over to him. "Your best girl?" Bucky nodded, picking up your hand with his metal one before leaving a soft kiss on your knuckles. "Always and forever, doll."

The Sokovian Language (from WandaVision)
Now, before we start, some introductory remarks:
I am a native speaker of Serbian (Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin may or may not be the same language, depends on who you ask. Trust me, you don’t wanna go there. The point is, by speaking Serbian, I speak all of them).
I also speak Polish (I’m supposed to be at some B1-B2 level, but it’s gotten a bit rusty) and Slovene/Slovenian (B2-C1 level). I also have a theoretical knowledge of Russian grammar, but I haven’t actually spoken the language in a while, so that’s why I won’t say I speak it, but some passive knowledge is there. I’ve also had some contact with Czech, Slovak and Ukrainian, but on a very basic level. As for the other Slavic languages, I’ve read about them and compared and contrasted them so I know some bits and pieces. That being said, all speakers of Slavic languages, feel free to add your observations and comments to this.
Slavic languages overlap, sometimes to a great extent, so if I say that something is (for example) Russian, that doesn’t necessarily mean that feature is exclusively Russian, it can appear in other languages as well, especially the ones that are closely related, such as Ukrainian and Belarussian.

The best Christmas ever.
"Reindeer Games!! the lights have to be at least six inches away from each other!" Tony shrieked as he nearly ran into Steve who was carrying in another christmas tree with Bucky.
The sixth christmas tree in the freaking living room!
"Calm down man of iron" Loki grumbled as he pulled the lights further apart with the help of Natasha.
"Do you not know how to hang ornaments"?! Iron man freaked as he turned the small ball a few degrees the other way "go you disgust me"! He yelled at Sam before chasing after him with his small note book.
"Yep he's definitely gone insane" Natasha said with a nod as she and Loki climbed down from the ceiling where the lights hang.
"I have to agree with Lady Natasha" Thor mused while he made sure the lights were secured tightly.
"Who even put him in charge?" Rogers asked as he pushed the christmas tree upright.
"you did Cap" Clint said with a laugh from the vents where he was keeping watch so you wouldn't walk in on them decorating yet.
"...Right"
just then Peter literally fell from the ceiling with a shriek leaving Loki to catch him and put him back on his feet "Y/N is in the elevator to this floor"!!
Since it was a surprise that they were decorating the tower to give you the best Christmas ever, Loki quickly cast a spell to make all the decorations go invisible and they all dived into a hiding spot.
Somehow Sam managed to dive almost on top of Bucky who let out a groan and shoved him off "Damm it Samuel"!
Everyone shushed him and stayed hidden just as the elevator doors opened, you walked out with your headphones on listening to music and walked into the kitchen to grab some left over pizza.
"we need to distract her until we are done" Nat whispered to Loki as they sat crouched behind a couch.
"I'll distract her, you guys finish decorating" He whispered back with a grin, being the God of mischief and lies gave him quite the advantage on knowing your ticklish little secret and he was more then happy to finally use it.
Loki stood up and walked up behind you, tapping you on the shoulder and successfully making you jump in fright.
"Jesus Christ Loki! You scared the living daylights out of me" You said with a hand on your heart as you took off your headphones.
"My apologies, i simply wanted to ask if I could retrieve my book from your room?" He said hiding his grin.
"Yeah of course, I'll show you where it is" you said with a nod and walked off with your plate of pizza after kicking the fridge door shut.
Loki trailed behind you as you both stepped into your room, but before you could utter 'abracadabra' he tackled into your bed and pinned you underneath him.
"Loki what the hell" you said confused which quickly turned into a surprised giggle when he traced your ribs.
"Sorry for the scare darling, it's just that I heard some interesting information about you" He said with a mischief smirk as he continued to trace your ribs and tummy.
"And what would that behihihi?" you giggle nervously.
"Sargeant Barnes told me about your little ticklish secret" Loki mused as he ghost tickled your tummy which sent chills all over since you were incredibly sensitive.
Your eyes widen before bursting out in giggles as you trashed around, he dug into your ribs and softly traced your tummy at the same time, driving you into madness.
"NOT THEREHIHIHIHIHI" you screamed in laughter as you arched your back to escape him which only gave him more access to your sides.
"Then I'll just switch places love" Loki grinned as he scratched lightly over your neck before suddenly blowing a raspberry on your tummy.
"GHAHHAHAHHAHA" you laughed loudly until your laugh turned silent and he let up, pulling you up to lay your head on his chest.
"Shall we watch some movies for the rest of the afternoon love?" He asked as he played with your hair.
You hummed in agreement as you settled against him, curling up content.
And that's how the afternoon went, every time you tried to get up to grab something from the kitchen Loki latched onto your sides and reduced you into a giggly mess to keep you in your room.
When it got dark Steve and Tony walked in, smiling when they saw you two.
"Come on kid, we have a surprise" Tony said as he pulled you to your feet and guided you out of the room with his hands over your eyes, the other two quickly following to make sure you didn't fall.
After an interesting walk downstairs (Tony almost walked you straight into a wall and got his head smacked for it) you arrived in what you believed was the living room.
Tony took his hands from your eyes and you gasped.
The entire room was full with lights of all colours and in every corner stood a christmas tree, which was decorated to perfection with presents underneath it, you looked up and saw even more fairy lights around the ceiling. It was absolutely stunning.
A smile made its way to your lips as happy tears gathered in your eyes, you felt a pair of arms around you and soon you were engulfed by the team.
"You guys did all this?" You asked as you wiped your tears away.
"Of course we did, we wanted to make this your best ever christmas" Nat smiled as she threw her arm around your shoulders.
"Why?"
"Because we wanted to make you feel at home, loved and happy, we knew how much christmas means to you" Clint said as he appeared next to you.
"Well you guys certainly made that happen" you chuckle as you still looked around in wonder.
"Merry Christmas Y/N" Bucky said with a soft smile.
"Merry Christmas, you guys are the best family I could've asked for" You smiled brightly and you were once again engulfed by the team.
It was safe to say that this was the BEST christmas ever!!

i was rewatching wandavision and you know in the last episode when wanda has to correct the reality she’d created? well i had it in my head that there was scene where the boys are alone together comforting each other before they disappear. when the episode finished i was so confused as to whether they’d cut it out or something…
yeah turns out that was just a scene from a fanfic i’d written about that episode 💀

steven
you lean over the gift shop counter, eyes wide as you ask, “can you pretend to be my boyfriend?”
poor steven is just confused at first.
“pretend to be—wait, what do you mean—?”
he doesn’t get a chance to finish that thought because the man who’s been trying to flirt with you all day suddenly rounds the corner, and you’re out of time.
“there you are!” a smarmy grin, eyes looking you up and down. it makes your skin crawl. “I was worried that you might’ve left before I could get a chance to talk to you again.”
“yeah, wouldn’t want that, now, would we?” you mutter.
it clicks in steven’s brain then, though not exactly fast enough for him to come up with a retort other than, “right, yeah, right.”
the man’s attention doesn’t waver from you, however, and you squirm on the spot. time for a hail mary, you suppose, turning back to steven. “are we still good for lunch, babe?”
“oh, yes, lunch—right, of course, love,” steven nods, more confident. “I just need to finish up some last things here, if you’re willing to wait a bit?”
you’re ready to say no worries, take all the time you need when the guy scoffs, barely sparing steven a glance. “a sales clerk? really?”
“better than the wet tissue you are, bruv,” steven snaps back, so fast that he surprises himself a little. something simmers under the man’s expression, but steven’s faster. “do I need to call security?”
that finally gets to the guy, who just mutters curses under his breath before finally pissing off. your smile is genuine now when you look at steven. “thanks for that.”
“no worries—are you alright?”
“I’m fine,” you nod. “don’t suppose you’re actually free right now, are you? the least I could do is buy you lunch as thanks.”
luckily for the both of you, he is, and he rounds the counter with a wide smile on his face before you lead the two of you out.
marc
he’s just waiting to place his order at a coffee shop when you walk in, some guy hot on your heels and prattling on despite your obvious discomfort.
“oh, hey, babe!” he doesn’t even realize you’re calling out to him until he meets your gaze, and the pleading look in your eyes is all he needs to understand what’s going on. “sorry I’m late.”
“it’s all good.” marc knows the drill, injecting warmth into his smile as he walks up to greet you. he gives you a small nod, letting you know that he’s got your back as he slips his hand into yours. “was worried about you for a minute there.”
“wait, are you two…?” the man looks between you, eyebrows furrowed.
“mhm.” he keeps his tone light, but is secretly watching like a hawk for any signs of escalation. when the guy’s mouth twists into a scowl, marc subtly tugs you behind him.
“you never said you had a boyfriend.” the venom in the words is terrifying, but marc doesn’t flinch.
“no need to cause a scene, man,” he says, tone amicable, but you take a peek at his face and his expression is as hard as stone. “now, if you’ll excuse us.”
marc leads you back into the line to order, squeezing your hand gently to stop you from looking over your shoulder. there’s the heavy stomping of feet before you hear the bell ring over the door as the guy leaves.
the relief is palpable. you finally let go of marc’s hand, face warm as you smile sheepishly at him. “thanks for the help. let me buy you a coffee?”
“don’t worry about it.” he shakes his head, but you offer again and, well, if you insist. he doesn’t mind spending the rest of his afternoon with you at all.
jake
he’s the one to notice your discomfort from across the pub, how you subtly shift away from the man leaning in close to speak directly into your ear.
when you meet his eyes, you mouth, help? and jake doesn’t even think twice before downing the rest of his drink and making his way to your table. he slaps a hand down onto the guy’s shoulder, making him jump. “think you’re in my seat, hombre.”
the man’s greasy smirk twitches, obviously thinking that jake is interrupting his ‘game’ or whatever the fuck. “nah, man, I’m just—”
“trying to hit on my girl, yeah, I can see that.” jake grins at him, but you get the impression that he’s baring his teeth more than anything. he looks to you, and his gaze softens. “you okay, there, baby?”
“better now,” you say, and it’s not a lie.
the guy turns to jake fully, sizing him up. “you think you’re so tough, huh?”
jake doesn’t even blink, just raises a single eyebrow as if daring for him to suggest taking the matter outside. it’s not even a competition, because the man backs off a moment later, angrily slipping out of the booth without looking back.
you don’t breathe until the guy finally leaves the building, at which point a heavy sigh falls from your lips.
“the nerve of that guy,” jake mutters, clicking his tongue.
“right?” you shake your head, then gesture to the now-vacant seat beside you. “care for a drink? I think I owe you after your help back there.”
“you owe me nothing,” he corrects, but slides in beside you anyways, taking your offer with a smile.

Melting Fears
Elphaba x Glinda
Warning(s): Angst, fluff, comfort tckling!
Word count: 2.9k
Summary/Prompt: Elphaba’s fears are catching up to her and she seeks Glinda’s comfort in the middle of the night.
A/N: YO it’s 1:30AM!! This was inspired by my wicked hc I have where Elphaba does in fact pay Glinda at least one secret visit after she becomes a fugitive, of course Glinda hides her. It’s not specified how long it’s been between the end of Act 1 and the start of Act 2 but I suspect it’s about 5 years or more. This is set somewhere just after the end of act 1. Also they haven’t yet confessed their undeniable yet suppressed feelings for each other and so they’re still best friends! Two oblivious witches 😭
⋆ ━━━━━━━ ༺❀༻ ━━━━━━━━
Tumblr media
Rumors and gossip traveled fast in Oz. Despite being in hiding Elphaba had become painfully aware of all the horrible things that were said about her as well as the various ways they wanted to kill her.
She had acted tough when she’d chosen to leave, claiming that no one would ever bring her down. But of course there came a time when all the pressure got too much to bear. In between her time flying around and helping out the Animals keep their voices in exchange for food and shelter she’d spent too many sleepless nights meddling over every word spoken about her, fighting to keep herself from giving into believing them. She’d find herself fearing they would be successful in their search and capture her. It brought on this constant exhausting weight in her chest that never seemed to ease.
She needed to find solace.
So, during a cold darkened night Elphaba slipped out of the den where a family of foxes had given her a place to stay for the past week. She wrapped her black cloak around herself as she mounted her broom and launched into the starry sky, wincing at the burning sensation of the wintry night air as it blew against her face. She flew off in the direction of Emerald City where she knew her one and only friend lived.
When she finally reached the city’s borders, Elphaba remained high, using the night sky as cover and hoping the moonlight would make her green skin blend with the palace. She was aware that Glinda had been moved there after she’d been appointed to help the Wizard. Fiyero had been promoted to Captain of the Guard and tasked with finding the Wicked Witch of the West but Elphaba didn’t know that part.
Elphaba took precautions to avoid being detected by the flying monkeys that she was sure would be guarding the city. She eventually came to a stop by the shimmering emerald green palace, hovering her broom next to a window hesitant to make another move. Even though she had scouted out Glinda’s room she was starting to think that this was a terrible idea until the latch clicked and the window opened.
“Elphie?!” The blonde witch gasped quietly, looking understandably surprised by the unexpected arrival of her best friend.
Neither of them broke the other’s gaze. It had been only five months since Elphaba had left and they hadn’t seen each other since.
Elphaba released one hand from the broom to give a shy wave. “Hi Glinda,” she murmured before looking down to the terrifying drop below then behind her before finally returning her gaze back over to Glinda with a slight look of desperation. If the flying monkeys flew by they’d surely recognise her and sound the alarm.
Glinda’s surprised expression quickly turned to fear. “What are you doing here? Someone might discoverate you!” She whispered frantically.
“Exactly, so let me in,” Elphaba hissed impatiently.
The blonde haired girl looked over her shoulder quickly and then stepped aside to allow Elphaba to climb in safely. She then shut the window and closed the blinds while Elphaba dusted off her black cloak and put her broom next to the window in case she needed a quick get away. Glinda turned to her. She was wearing a blue nightgown and the expression on her face was already filled with questions.
“Look I know, I know I’m not meant to be here I just—“ Elphaba began to explain, but was cut off when Glinda wrapped her arms around her in a big and warm hug.
Glinda wasn’t much of a hugger and hadn’t ever been good with expressing physical affection towards anyone. She’d only expressed her affections towards Fiyero, but over the past year he’d grown distant. When it came to Elphaba, Glinda had learnt earlier in their school life that she responded best to comforting forms of physical touch since she’d never received much when she was a child.
Elphaba melted almost immediately into the embrace. Still, her heart was pounding and she was trying her absolute best to fight off the urge to cry but her eyes were welling with tears already. Her hands were subconsciously trembling from the anxiety that was coursing through her. A shaky breath escaped her and Glinda must have noticed it because she pulled back a little to look at her.
“Are you okay, Elphie?” Glinda asked quietly, concern coating her eyes while her arms still wrapped around her waist.
That was all it took for the green girl to break down in tears, slowly sinking to the floor as if losing all energy to hold herself up. She’d been repressing all her emotions for the sake of remaining strong for herself. But now within the presence of her one and only friend she could finally give into the pain.
Glinda pulled her into another hug, following her down. “Oh Elphie.” She whispered as she held her tightly and rubbed soothing circles on her back to try and calm her while Elphaba sobbed her heart out.
They sat there together for a good five minutes before Elphaba could finally manage a coherent sentence. “I—I can’t…can’t do…do this anymore,” she whimpered, voice cracking between sobs. “I’m s—so tired of running and being so scared all the time.”
It broke Glinda’s heart. She squeezed her a little tighter and kissed her forehead. She couldn’t ask her to go home. Everyone in Oz would kill her the moment she stepped outside and there was no way she could stay and hide out here, she’d surely be discovered.
“I know,” was all she could whisper. “But…you have too.”
It was the hard truth. Elphaba knew that.
After a few minutes, she pulled away, sniffled and wiped her eyes as she tried to recompose herself. “I’m sorry for throwing this on you so late at night. I just…I needed to see you.”
Glinda placed her hands on Elphaba’s shoulders and softly locked her gaze onto hers. “No no don’t do that, don’t apologise! I’m glad you’re here. Truth is I…missed you.”
This brought a small smile to Elphaba’s tear stained face. Glinda slowly helped her stand back up before she skipped over to her queen sized bed and leapt on. She looked over at Elphaba expectantly as she gave the empty spot beside her a pat.
Elphaba hesitated for a brief second before making her way over to the bed and climbing on. She sat in a way that gave her quick access to leap off. It was a habit that came with her paranoia. But now in a calmer and more present state she was able to take a second to admire Glinda’s enormous room. As expected it was very pink. There was a fireplace and a desk with books scattered over it and shelves that contained various knickknacks.
“You’ve scored the jackpot Glinda,” she said once she’d eventually turned her attention onto her best friend.
Glinda giggled and nodded in agreement. “Of course I have, it’s me!”
Elphaba looked down at her slightly trembling hands as her smile faded. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy towards her. She was aware that Glinda was not to blame but seeing what she’d gotten out of the situation made her realise that the hole she had dug herself into meant that everything she had ever dreamt of was so far out of reach it was untouchable.
Her expression must have been easily noticeable because Glinda frowned and turned her body, simply staring at her as if she was trying to read her mind.
Feeling eyes upon her, Elphaba quickly looked up. “What?” She asked almost defensively.
“Nothing, you’ve just…changed.”
“Well can you blame me? All of Oz is out to melt me with a bucket of water because apparently I’m an evil witch with an impure soul,” she spat. An ember briefly sparked deep within her and she glaring so hard that her eyes would have burnt holes in the bed if they could.
Glinda fell silent. She’d had to deal with hearing everyone around her shout horrible things about her best friend. Every word had been like knives to her heart especially since she knew first hand that none of what they said was even remotely true. It hurt even more that to keep up an appearance she had to agree with them. “You’re not evil Elphie.”
Elphaba could feel tears brimming once again and she looked away. Glinda let out a quiet sigh. This was not how she’d hoped their reunion would be like. All of a sudden, an idea struck her and she sat up with a sly grin. She very gently poked the green witch’s side to test the waters, pulling away quickly when Elphaba flinched and gasped quietly in response to the familiar sensation.
“What was that for?” Her eyes had snapped around to see Glinda’s shimmering with excitement.
“You might have changed, but surely your ticklishness has not.” The look in the blonde’s eyes was terrifyingly devious.
Elphaba’s own eyes widened and she gulped. She abandoned any previous thoughts to make an escape but Glinda was ahead of her. She gently pushed her back up against the headboard, straddled her and placed her hands so they were already hovering just above her sides.
During their time together at school Glinda had discovered Elphaba’s little secret during a lesson about being popular. Well it had been less a secret and more of a surprise to Elphaba since she’d never experienced physical touch in such a playful manner. No one had ever wanted to get close enough to her, and if they had it had not been to show any form of affection or comfort. Glinda had become the first person to truly help Elphaba understand that physical contact could in fact be kind, love-filled or even playful. Hence hugs being one of her favourite forms of affection that she received.
“W-Wait, Glinda, do you t-think this is a good idea?” Elphaba stammered, not even moving to try and stop her.
“Don’t worry, my room is soundproof,” Glinda murmured, “so no one will hear us and no one will find you. I promise you’re safe with me Elphie.” She wriggled her fingers teasingly without touching her.
Elphaba was already squirming with anticipation and she couldn’t stop the nervous giggles from streaming out of her mouth. Her cheeks had already heated up to a dark green and she was biting her lip to try to suppress her giggles.
“It’s been years since I’ve gotten to hear you laugh, Elphie.”
“Oh come on you don’t have to be so dramat—” she began but was quickly cut off when Glinda dug her fingers into her sides, drawing out a rather sharp and high-pitched shriek. She hadn’t chosen to go easy on her.
Glinda dragged her fingers up to her ribs and skittered them and then spidered back down where she danced along her stomach. Elphaba let out a series of snorts in between her cackling laughter while her hands frantically tried to grab the blonde’s wrists to no avail.
“Sweet Oz, Elphie I forget how ticklish you are,” Glinda teased, earning a deeper green blush from the witch as she covered her eyes in embarrassment.
Elphaba yelped when Glinda reached back and squeezed her knee. She then traveled up to her neck, giving it a light scratch where she got a squeal from her best friend as she scrunched up her face and raised her shoulders. But she wasn’t done.
“Glinda, please!!” Elphaba whined, but she made little to no effort to push her off when she was very capable of doing so.
She suddenly threw her head back and let out what sounded like a howling-like screaming cackle as Glinda suddenly descended down upon a weak spot just below her ribs. It made Glinda recoil out of surprise. “That’s new.”
Elphaba looked genuinely shocked by her own reaction. She looked up at Glinda who tentatively tickled that spot again which received a similar response.
“Did I just discover a new secret ticklish spot?” Glinda asked, a twinkle of proudness in her eyes.
“G—Guess you did,” she breathed out, her cheeks flushed a deep green at the discovery.
“You are so adorable Elphie.”
If it was even possible Elphaba's ears and cheeks burned an even darker shade of green at the praise and she squirmed under her adoring gaze. Glinda finally decided to cease her attacks as she collapsed on top of Elphaba who instinctively slipped a free hand around her back to support her.
“I promise I’ll explore that spot more next time.”
This had Elphaba’s stomach fluttering with an anticipated excitement she’d never felt before which made her want to squirm. Like how you feel when you’re giddy. So instead she just bit her lip and nodded silently. She felt like she was melting in the best way.
“Are you feeling better now?” The blonde asked more softly, eyes still resting on her best friend.
Elphaba gave her another nod. She was exhausted and she could feel her eyes growing heavy but she wore a genuine yet gentle smile.
“Good.” Glinda gently scratched that spot just below her ribs one last time.
Elphaba jumped and let out a yelping squeal as uncontrollable giggles streamed back out of her mouth. She instinctively recoiled away as best she could but that proved to be near impossible with someone on top of her.
Glinda laughed softly at her reaction, booping her nose playfully. Elphaba gave her irresistible puppy eyes. “Okay okay I’m done,” she promised.
“You know Glinda…you’re very vulnerable laying on me like that.”
“Elphie—” Glinda warned but it wasn’t as intimidating as she’d hoped. It sounded a lot like a squeak.
Elphaba grinned and then dug her fingers into her best friend’s sides, wriggling them speedily just the way Glinda had taught her. High pitched giggles immediately poured out of the blonde witch and she attempted to roll out of Elphaba's embrace but she was trapped.
Unlike Glinda, Elphaba let up her revenge after only a minute, deciding to be a lot more merciful given the time of night. She allowed Glinda a moment to catch her breath before sitting up. Naturally, Glinda rolled off her and back onto her bed with a relieved sigh.
Elphaba glanced down at her best friend with a gentle smile, looking at her with nothing other than love. Glinda held her gaze and minutes of silence went by.
Eventually, Elphaba did break that silence. “How’s Fiyero?” She quietly asked. Her heart had longed to see that boy as much as it had wanted to see her friend.
“He’s…good, yeah very good in fact,” Glinda replied as she sat up with a bounce. She would have mentioned his most recent position, but since he’d been tasked with leading the hunt and capturing of Elphaba she decided it was best to leave that out so as not to scare her.
Elphaba smiled a little, nodding her head before lowering it slightly in thought. As long as he was happy and well that was all that mattered. She looked back up, meeting Glinda’s gaze but she wore a look that she couldn’t quite read.
“Forgive me for not asking earlier,” she took Glinda’s hands and smiled, “how are you?”
“Me? Oh I’m fabulous Elphie! Just…fabulous.” There was clear uncertainty in her last words despite her usual confident beaming smile.
Elphaba had hidden behind a smile more times than she could count to be able to see that her best friend was hiding something. She gave her an inquisitive look but was dismissed with a wave of the hand so she didn’t push it. Feeling the moment pass, Elphaba decided it was time to leave. She slid off Glinda’s bed. She knew that she couldn’t stay no matter how much they both wanted her too. She made her way over to her broom, pausing once she’d reached it.
“Oh and Glinda,” she spoke softly, looking back over at Glinda who’d gotten off the bed after her, “I missed you too.”
Their eyes remained locked for a second before Glinda closed the distance and pulled her into a final hug. “I love you Elphie.”
“I love you too.”
Their words were meant to be an exchange of their friendship or so that’s what they thought.
Elphaba reluctantly pulled away. “I must go,” she murmured, a small smile appearing briefly as she mounted her broom once Glinda had opened the window for her. “Thank you for tonight,” she whispered, “keep glamourfying Oz with your Goodness.”
The blonde wiped a tear from her cheek, letting out a gentle giggle at her words as she waved her hands to playfully shoo her out. Elphaba chuckled softly, tipped her black witch hat politely with a grin and turned to climb out the window. She paused one last time to glance over her shoulder at her best friend before she leapt out of the window. The broom dipped dramatically before it launched upwards and took off into the darkness of the beautiful starry sky. Glinda watched as her best friend’s silhouette flew across the full moon, the sound of her light cackly laughter echoed through the wind before she disappeared from sight.
“Of course I will, always. Goodness knows you keep defying gravity, Elphie.”

And there was only one broom
We can only all fit if we squeeze together. Anyone opposed? Thought not.
Elphaba agrees to help Glinda with her flying skills, but the lesson becomes quickly informal and with all the more good company when Fiyero joins them. For @thisswitchisacertifiedbitch, who asked for some “movie nights,” “multiple lers,” and “getting stuck” for some holiday fun! You also asked for any musical, so, dear, I went Wicked because I needed some wlw and poly ship content for my holiday fun :) Hope you like it!!  As always, thank you @ticklygiggles for hosting this event! Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and Happy Squealing Santa!
SFW. Potential warnings: none. Wicked tickle fic.

Elphaba’s preferred Saturday night had never included other people. This Saturday night, though—with her arms wrapped around Glinda’s waist and the blonde witch’s joyful shrieks being carried off by the wind, and with Fiyero clinging to Elphaba’s waist for dear life and stifling his own shouts in her back—Elphaba would have gladly seen repeats of similar nights in the future.
That morning, the plan had been for her to help Glinda practice her broom-handling techniques—Elphaba normally wasn’t so willing a tutor, but she was weak to Glinda’s batting eyelashes and puffed out lower lip. Elphaba had fallen equally weak to Fiyero knocking on the girls’ dorm door that afternoon, adorably shy as he asked if they’d want to see a show together later that night. Glinda had agreed right away, all but bouncing in excitement, and had hooked her chin over Elphaba’s shoulder and nuzzled her cheek until she accepted the invitation, with the stipulation that they would fly to the show so Glinda could get her practice in by keeping the broom in the air through the whole production. Elphaba was weak to the girl she adored, but she was also strict in wanting to help her girl do well, especially when she asked for help. Glinda hadn’t mentioned until they were nearly on the edge of the Shiz Academy grounds that her broom had been hexed by a third-year during her last class, leaving the three only Elphaba’s broom to travel with. Glinda had assuredly declared that one broom could fit all three of them and that she’d certainly learn to fly better if her tutor was close enough to give advice. It hadn’t just been advice Elphaba had been whispering in Glinda’s ear on the flight, but it was still certainly encouraging. And, Elphaba admitted, Glinda was right; the broom fit all of them snugly, especially after they’d teased Fiyero that, unless they sat close as sardines in a can, their mount would capsize. He held on nice and tight after that.

I have an idea for a Glinda and Elphaba story based on Jennafer Newberry and Lissa DeGuzman’s portrayals of Glinda and Elphaba. I included a link for reference. In popular during toss toss, glinda does this adorable giggle and then tries to have Elphaba recreate it, but it comes across as super forced and fake when Elphaba does it. I don’t know if this is too similar to the other Glinda and Elphaba story you posted the other day, but I thought it would be cute if Glinda tickles Elphaba to help her find her natural giggle. Of course Elphaba doesn’t let Glinda do that without her revenge so she tickles Glinda after. https://youtu.be/VQxRXpDtIf8 the toss toss giggle part starts at around 4:10, but at around 3:05 Glinda does really adorable deep gutteral laughter that is worth watching.
From Your Heart
Summary: Elphaba stops laughing at Fiyero’s jokes because she’s embarrassed of her laugh. Fiyero laments. Glinda takes this personally.
Take this as either a Glinda-Fiyero-Elphaba polycule AU or just supportive best friend Glinda who’s not into Fiyero but wants to help her hopeless bestie lock him down. I wrote it with the polycule in mind though because I love them.
Glinda stopped being surprised at finding Fiyero face down on her bed by probably the third week of term. His dramatics harmonize well with hers, she specifically chose that mattress for the healing level of bounce it has--everything tracks. What doesn’t track, however, is Fiyero being face down on her bed and not at the date that she’d set up for him and Elphaba.
“Why are you not wooifying Elphie? I specifically requested it.” Glinda sets down her purse and slips off her heels. Fiyero groans pathetically from the bed.
“Up, scoot, c’mon.” Glinda pats him until he moves over. She sits beside him and rubs his back.
“We went picnicking in the quad. Everything was perfect, Galinda. I even wore my good pants. But halfway through she just…ran away. I don’t understand. What if she doesn’t like me?” Fiyero’s lip wobbles. Glinda ignores the way that sentiment chews at the wall of her heart.
“Don’t be silly, Fiyero. Everyone likes you.”
“What if she isn’t into me, I mean?” He sighs. She brushes his hair away from his temple.
“I’ll talk to her, alright? I’m sure there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for this. Go mope in your room and I’ll send word.” She pats his cheek. He sighs and sits up.
….
The door lock starts to click and Glinda’s on her feet in a moment. As soon as the door opens:
“Elphie!” Glinda throws her arms up with a joyful squeal. Elphaba freezes in the doorway.
“Why are you so perky?” Elphaba eyes her suspiciously. Glinda frowns.
“I’m always perky.”
“More than usual. Something’s up.” Elphaba sets her stuff down roughly. She sits on her bed. Glinda slides into the space beside her and tangles their ankles together.
“Well, a depressed little birdie told me that your date with Fiyero didn’t go so well.” Glinda grimaces.
“He told you?” Elphaba whispers in horror. Glinda shrugs weakly. Elphaba groans and drops her head into her hands. Glinda primly pats her back and murmurs a halfhearted ‘there there’.
“He’s just…he’s so funny, Galinda.” Elphaba picks her face up a bit, then drops it back down. She groans louder.
“Normally that’s a desirable trait in a beau.” Glinda busies herself with unbraiding Elphaba’s hair--a habit for them. Elphaba visibly unwinds beneath the touch. It does Glinda’s soul well to see it.
“Yeah, but…he’s funny and I can’t laugh at his jokes.”
“Are they terrible? Or perhaps risqué?” Glinda runs her fingers through Elphaba’s hair. The silky locks are soft to the touch.
“No!” Elphaba’s face flushes a dark green. “Well, maybe, yes. Sometimes. But that’s not it. I…my laugh is ugly. I’ve been scared to let him hear it, so I’ve been hiding it. He tried to make me laugh earlier, so…I ran.”
This impacts Glinda like a chariot at speed. Her eyes rove over her best friend’s face, this beautiful once-in-a-lifetime wonder that just happened to bless Shiz University at the same time as she. A miracle in every way, and she’s blaming herself for something out of her control. Unconscionable.
“It’s so stupid--”
“No. Don’t you dare do that. It’s not stupid at all.” Glinda squishes Elphaba’s cheeks between her hands. Elphaba softens, her gaze dropping to the floor. Glinda kisses her forehead.
“I think Fiyero likes you because you’re you, Elphie. And that includes your laugh.” Glinda quickly wipes away the lipstick smudge left behind.
“But what if he thinks it’s ugly?” Elphaba murmurs through her squished face.
“That’s exactly what you asked me about your skin, and then I had to listen to him wax poetic about the color of emeralds for a week. He will like every part of you. Sorcerer’s swear.” Glinda holds her hand out. She and Elphaba exchange a complicated multi-step handshake in quick succession, ending in sparks and glitter puffing into the air between them.
“Would it be easier to let me hear it first?” Glinda bumps their shoulders together.
“You’d have to really get to me. I’m not sure if you can.” Elphaba huffs.
“Hey! I’m hilarious.” Glinda swats her lightly.
“That’s not it, I mean…you have to catch me off-guard. I spent so long practicing hiding it that I don’t know if I can laugh anymore.” Elphaba tucks her hair behind her ear.
“I have an idea.” Glinda turns fast enough to bounce both of them on the mattress. Elphaba scoots against the headboard to give her space, and does a sweeping gesture to indicate she’s listening. Even with the nonchalance, her eyes are sharp and painfully earnest.
“Well, it’s easier to start laughing than it is to stop. So what if I help you? I can teach you how to do the accepted Upper-Uplands giggle. When next you see Fiyero, try it! If he keeps making you laugh, your real one should come into the light.”
“You want me to fake it?” Elphaba furrows her brow.
“Most magicians fake their power. Why should this be any different?” Glinda shrugs. Elphaba nods slowly as the idea takes shape in her head.
“It’s…not a bad idea.”
“That’s the spirit. Now repeat after me.” Glinda shuffles and preens, clearing her throat. She releases something between a melody and a laugh—a trilly, pompous little thing that her mother had grilled into her during her formative years.
Elphaba makes a noise like a dying goose. Silence falls over the room.
“This is hopeless!” She wails. Glinda does not laugh, she does not, but she does puff her cheeks out ridiculously.
It just tickles her, the ways her two favorite people are made for each other.
Wait a minute.
“Elphaba Thropp.”
“Am I in trouble?” Elphaba immediately leans back, eyes wide. Glinda spins around the bed, backing Elphaba up against the headboard. She gets close, close enough to see the faint glitter still smudged on Elphaba’s forehead.
“Only if you’re ticklish.” Glinda grins, her hands finding Elphaba’s waist. Elphaba’s eyes widen past the size of the moon.
“I am going to turn you into the slimiest, wartiest toad imaginable.” A wobbly smile overtakes Elphaba’s face.
“You’re a very talented witch, but that sounds awfully hard to accomplish while laughing.” Glinda tuts and sets loose her fingers, tracing the asymmetrical seams of Elphie’s frock with unpredictable fingers. Elphaba’s face puffs up like the aforementioned frog. She hides behind her hands. Her shoulders shake with the effort of restraint.
“Let me hear it, love. It’s just us.” Glinda nods encouragingly, even though Elphaba can’t see it. Elphaba peeks open one eye between her fingers, then shuts it again. Glinda frowns. She pries Elphaba’s hands away from her face, instead placing them around her wrists.
“Stop me if you hate it.” Glinda says very seriously. Elphaba blinks.
“I can’t…it’s not…Idon’tmindit,” Elphaba says quickly, her face radiating heat. Glinda bites her lip on a smile.
“Good.” Glinda descends like a cyclone onto Elphaba’s ribs and it startles her laugh right out of her.
An endearing mess of shrieks and cackles blesses Glinda’s ears. Elphaba slides down the headboard and into a fit of snorts, holding onto Glinda’s wrists but never pulling away. Her nose scrunches as she tries to fistfight a tidal wave—poorly, but adorably.
Glinda fits her fingers into the curve of Elphaba’s waist and she tosses her head back, making a mess of her newly-freed hair. Hiccups filter into her laughter as it rocks her.
“Is this so bad?” Glinda has to shout over Elphaba to be heard. Nonsensical syllables tumble from her lips as she waves her hands around. Her laughter finds wheezy silence. Glinda relents then, taking a long, proud look at her handiwork.
Elphaba glows with her smile. It brightens her from the inside out. Little lines dance along the corners of her happily squinted eyes. Glinda pats her stomach. She jumps with an anticipatory giggle.
“What if I still can’t let Fiyero hear it?” Elphaba fiddles with her fingers.
“Tell him. He’ll understand.” Glinda rests her hand on Elphaba’s thigh. “And when you inevitably choose to be stubborn instead of admitting to yourself that you’re ready and he loves you, perhaps a little birdie will tell him what I’ve learned.”
Glinda wiggles her fingers and giggles evilly. Elphaba narrows her eyes.
When Glinda’s tackled face first onto her bed, screeching like her life depends on it, she knows immediately that the pursuit of Elphie’s smile is worth a few frizzy curls and smudged mascara.

SCREECHINGGGGGG HELPPPP HOW IS THIS SO CUTEEEEEEEE
Thank you so much for offering to write a fic for me for my exam! You are the absolute sweetest 🥺😭 I couldn’t think of another beetlejuice prompt, but if it’s not too much trouble, could I suggest a wicked prompt maybe? This is semi based off a true story! I’m a dancer, and we are working on a showcase. At the end I have to do like a flirty wave type thing and for the life of me I can not figure it out so my instructor said to wiggle my fingers like I’m tickling somebody. That gave me a prompt idea. Maybe Glinda is teaching Elphaba how to flirt with boys and teaching her to do a flirty wave and she tells Elphaba to wiggle her fingers like she is tickling someone. Elphaba can say something like “that’s hard to imagine. Why don’t I practice instead?” And then she tickles Glinda. Maybe if it’s not too much trouble Glinda can tickle Elphaba back after. Sorry for the long prompt. Anything Glinda and Elphaba would be perfect or anything Beetlejuice! I’d be happy to read any stories from you. Your stories bring me so much joy.
Good luck once again! Hope you enjoy this <3 This prompt was so cute and so was the story!!!
Strange Exhilaration
“Are you ready, my pupil, for your most important lesson yet?” Glinda twirls excitedly.
“Are you going to throw more glitter at me?” Elphaba shakes some glitter out of her skirt.
“Would you please cease the seriosity? It’s time for the art…of the goodbye.” Glinda flourishes and silver sparkles puff into the air around her.
“The goodbye is the crème de la crème of flirtations. It cements you in the mind of a potential target.” Glinda paces, each of her gestures throwing a bit more shimmer into the air.
“Target?” Elphaba murmurs, curbing the urge to sneeze.
“It’s about captivation, adoration, and, of course, exhilaration. Observe.” Glinda strikes a slinky, sultry pose against the wall, both casual and elegant at the same time. She turns, slowly, never breaking eye contact until the moment she strides away.
“Wow.” Elphaba prays that Glinda doesn’t notice how breathless she suddenly is.
“You try, Elphie.” Glinda pulls her up to her feet. Elphaba mutters to herself a little, observing the wall as if she were to scale it, rather than lean against it.
At first, she just plants herself flat against the wall and stays there, like a startled animal. Then she starts to lean, slowly and with a horrifying amount of eye contact, as if she’s trying to snap her back in half.
“Oookay. How about we start with something simple, like…a wave?” Glinda sweeps her away from the wall and gives her shoulders a squeeze.
“You don’t have to patronize me. I’m terrible at this.” Elphaba sighs deeply.
“The wave is the most important part. It’s the goodbye that keeps on giving. Now, show me what you’ve got.” Glinda nods firmly. Elphaba waves a bit awkwardly, but it is a human wave. She takes that as a win.
“A side-to-side wave says ‘let’s be paramours who don’t…amour’. Try keeping your hand still and just moving your fingers.” Glinda tenderly adjusts Elphaba’s hand. Elphaba twitches her fingers as if she’s cramping.
“Much better! This time, try to fully wiggle all of your fingers. Ooh! Like you’re tickling someone!” Glinda bounces on her toes with a blinding smile.
“Like I’m what?” Elphaba squints.
“Oh, Elphie.” Glinda takes her hands with gentle, well-meaning pity.
“It’s not something I do.”
“Yes, well…neither is fun, but we’re working on that.” Glinda pats Elphaba’s hands.
“It’s hard to imagine.” Elphaba’s eyes glint with mischief. “Perhaps I should practice instead?”
“Excellent idea! Wait—“ Glinda narrows her eyes in suspicion, but it’s too late. Elphaba goes right for her ribs with a triumphant cackle. She squeals and keels over onto her bed in a pile of ruffles.
“Y-You tricked—“
“I would never.” Elphaba deadpans, giving Glinda’s waist a squeeze.
Glinda snorts. Elphaba grins wickedly.
“Elphaba, if you have even an ounce of mercy in your soul—“
Elphaba cuts off her theatrics with nibbling pinches, ones that make Glinda’s bubbly giggles bloom into full peals of sweet laughter. Glinda’s whole face scrunches as she tries to fight it, but another well-timed squeeze coaxes a second snort from her with ease. Glinda whines into her hands, fully folding into Elphaba’s side.
“Galinda Upland snorts? This is priceless.” Elphaba snickers, releasing Glinda with a final poke.
“No one will ever believe you.” Glinda wipes her eyes and fans her face. Elphaba chuckles and fans her too.
“Now, I believe revenge is in order.” Glinda cracks her knuckles.
“Hm?” Elphaba blinks, startled.
“Oh, did you not hear? Let me assist.” Glinda primly clears her throat. Elphaba goes to bolt, but Glinda pulls her back and immediately acquaints her with the deadliness of acrylic nails.
“I said, revenge is in order,” Glinda yells over Elphaba’s laughter, grinning brighter than the sun. Elphaba crunches into a ball but Glinda tsks at her, poking at the back of her ribs until she uncurls.
“Take notes on this demonstration, Elphie. This is precisely how I want you to wave.” Glinda skitters her fingers over Elphaba’s stomach, nearly knocking their foreheads together.
“Galinda! T-Tickles!”
“That’s the point, silly.” Glinda laughs, hovering her fingers just above Elphaba’s knees—a death sentence. She yelps and grabs Glinda’s hands.
“Truce?” She gasps, still giggling, and laces their fingers together.
“That can be arranged.” Glinda winks, fondly wiggling her thumb over Elphaba’s palm. Elphaba squeals and pulls away.
“What was—“
“Nothing.” Elphaba stares at the floor.
“You’re a terrible liar.” Glinda slowly pulls Elphaba’s hand into her lap. She scritches over the lines in her palms, gentle but vicious. Elphaba’s face burns dark green and she hides in her free hand. Frantic giggles leak out between her fingers. She kicks her feet and shivers.
“I can’t believe your hands are tickly,” Glinda squeaks in sheer joy, skittering her nails across Elphaba’s palm. Elphaba makes an embarrassed little wailing noise and attempts to implode.
Glinda finds an awful spot where the heel of her hand meets her wrist. With one finger, she unravels Elphaba at the seams. She shrieks and flops backwards on the bed, praying that it’ll swallow her whole. Instead, Glinda coos at her. Great.
“If you keep this up—“ Glinda gestures to the mass of still-snickering Elphaba— “You’ll win any heart you desire.”
“Cruel and unusual,” Elphaba wheezes tiredly, blinking up at Glinda with a wobbly smile. Glinda unravels the last bits of Elphaba’s braid, letting her hair splay around her in a halo.
“I mean it. You’re beautiful, Elphaba.” Glinda rests her palm on Elphaba’s stomach. She gives it a fond pat.
“And you are…blonde.” Elphaba snickers preemptively, rocketed into giggles by Glinda’s well-practiced dramatic gasp. Those giggles mature when Glinda vibrates a claw into her stomach, delightfully wicked, and sends them tumbling into another round of familiar nonsense.
“Maybe next time I should tickle you during lessons. Laugh once for yes and twice for no.”
“Glinda!” Elphaba grabs her wrist for something to hold onto.
“Ga-linda. Clearly we have our work cut out for us.”

STOP THIS WAS WAY TO CUTE TO BE LEGAL!!!
I have a Glinda and Elphaba prompt idea! Feel free to change things or take anything out. My prompt is semi based on the scene in the show where Glinda tells Elphaba that they should share secrets with eachother. Glinda’s secret is that she is really ticklish so of course Elphaba has to take advantage of that. Elphaba then shares her secret which is that she has never been tickled so Glinda (with Elphaba’s permission) helps Elphaba learn what being tickled feels like.
Secrets, Secrets
“Your very first party? Your very first party ever?! How do you feel?” Glinda bounces around in front of Elphaba’s bed.
“Different.” Elphaba crosses her legs beneath her. She tracks Glinda back and forth, back and forth.
“Of course you do! Elphie—“ Glinda comes to a screeching halt, blinking her big, sparkly eyes— “Can I call you Elphie?”
“It’s a bit…perky.” Elphaba grimaces as supportively as she can.
“To christen our new friendship, we should…tell each other something we’ve never told anyone.” Glinda flops onto Elphaba’s bed and they both bounce. She grabs for Elphaba’s hands, loud and insistent.
“I’ll go first. Fiyero and I are going to be married!” Glinda squeals.
“He’s asked you already?” Elphaba frowns.
“No, he doesn’t know yet.”
“Then that’s not much of a secret, is it?” Elphaba raises her eyebrow. Glinda pouts. She hums to herself in thought as her eyes scan the room.
“Fine…I keep a reserve of extra glitter for formal events.” She gestures to a small tub on her shelf that’s genuinely emitting a low level of light.
“No.”
“I’m a natural blonde?” Glinda tries.
“Definitely not.”
“I am—“
“It’s not a secret, Galinda.” Elphaba pulls on one of her ringlets. She pouts, then gasps with an idea.
“My entrance essay was called ‘Wands: Need They Have a Point?’” She gestures as if the title would appear in the air.
“I was there when you announced that.” Elphaba snickers.
“You are so—“ Glinda cuts herself off with a little growly noise that makes Elphaba snicker harder— “I have nothing else to share. My life is a beautifully open book.”
“Dig deep, Galinda. Surely you’ve got something.” Elphaba pokes her stomach and Glinda jumps. She does it again, then again, and keeps going until a stream of squeaky snickers fills the air.
“E-Elphie, that tickles! Let me think!” Glinda swats her hands away.
“Now there’s a secret.” Elphaba grins.
“You wouldn’t dare.” Glinda narrows her eyes.
“Wouldn’t I?” Elphaba mimics the pitch of her voice. Glinda splutters in offense, and then she’s spluttering with laughter as the poking resumes.
“I’ll turn you into a frog!” Glinda shrieks. Elphaba snorts and keeps poking at her waist. It starts to get less and less effective, especially as Elphaba’s touch gets harder. She frowns, but persists.
“Y’know, I—eep! I expected you to be better at this.” Glinda still jumps at every poke, even as her laughter grows quiet. Elphaba recoils as if she’s been burned.
“Oh. You don’t know how, do you?” Glinda murmurs. Elphaba turns sharply away. It’s a silly thing to cry over, but her nose stings with the promise of tears. She can’t help it.
“Well, because I am so noble and full of dignification…I will assist.” Glinda bows. She takes Elphaba’s hands and places them gently at her waist. Elphaba considers tearing her hands away, but Glinda’s gaze is warm.
“Now wiggle your fingers. Gently.” Glinda holds Elphaba’s wrists and nods in encouragement. Elphaba presses her lips together.
“Like this?”
Glinda collapses with a bubbly yelp. Elphaba immediately lets go.
“Did I hurt you?” Elphaba leans over her.
“No, no—you’re just a quick learner.” Glinda looks up with a dazzling smile, her curls fanned around her on the bed.
“Oh.” Elphaba flushes a dark green. Glinda could be so much, sometimes.
“Okay! Your turn!” Glinda boops Elphaba’s nose.
“My turn?” Elphaba swats her hand away but doesn’t break focus.
“For a secret, silly!”
“Oh, I don’t really…have one. I think.” Elphaba fiddles with her fingers.
“Well, I’ll make this easy for you. I expect a rain check on a real secret later.” Glinda scoots so she can sit against the headboard. Her glossy smile tilts into something devious.
“Are you ticklish, Elphie?” Glinda’s voice catches teasingly on her name. It steals the breath from her lungs.
“Isn’t everyone?”
“Dodging the question. Interesting.” Glinda smirks, leaning close. Her eyes rove over Elphaba’s already-warm face.
“I don’t know. I’ve never been…people usually don’t want to be that close to me. Let alone touch me.” Elphaba sniffs bitterly, dropping her gaze.
“That’s a shame.” Glinda says firmly. She stays close. Something in Elphaba flutters.
“May I?” Glinda hovers her fingers over Elphaba’s stomach. Elphaba nods and exhales shakily.
Glinda must not like that shakiness though, because she frowns deeply and takes Elphaba’s hands instead. She clutches one and spiders her fingers across the palm of the other, tracing up and down from elbow to fingertip.
“How’s that feel?” Glinda hums.
“It’s…I…” Elphaba’s nose scrunches. Her smile breaks little by little, like the first sunbeams over the horizon. She tries to keep it together, but her lungs keep doing this indomitable shivery thing she can’t kick. Her whole body trembles with the force of restraining herself.
“I’m barely trying to tickle you. I’m trying to take it easy on you,” Glinda snickers, her glittery nails dancing across Elphaba’s hand.
“I-It can’t possibly get worse than this.” Elphaba peeks at her through one eye.
“Don’t speak so soon!” Glinda says cheerfully, squeezing Elphaba’s side with a viciousness that contradicts everything ‘good’ about her. Elphaba crumples into a fit of ringing laughter.
She wants to crawl out of her skin hearing her own laugh, the shrieky, cackly thing that it is, but every ounce of her self control has fled her. She falls backwards on the bed and Glinda crawls on top of her, tickling with reckless abandon. Elphaba tries to curl up, but she folds right into Glinda’s waiting hands.
Elphaba throws her head back and snorts twice in a row. Glinda gasps.
“You are adorable.” She whispers gleefully. Elphaba hides behind her hands. Glinda tries to pull them away to no avail.
“Kill me,” Elphaba groans, muffled. She resists Glinda until pointed nails poke just right into her ribs and she screeches, immediately flailing to defend herself. Glinda catches her wrists easily and pins them down to the bed.
Elphaba lets out a stream of nervous giggles, hearty and tumbling. Glinda flops on top of her with a dramatic wail. Elphaba’s hand finds her back instinctively.
“What’s happening?” Elphaba hums, confused but not surprised.
“You’re so cute, you don’t understand.” Glinda pops up in a distressed bounce of curls and ruffles. “I just want to tickle you for the rest of eternity.”
And tickle she does. Elphaba squirms and giggles, tossing her head back and forth. Glinda coos at her, terrifying in her accuracy. Feeling another snort coming on, Elphaba grabs Glinda’s hands and pulls them away.
“W-Well, if you keep doing that, you’ll kill me, and you need me for your sorcery tutorial.” Elphaba points at her, eyes wide with a giddy sort of desperation she’s never felt before. Glinda pretends to think hard, but really, she’s smiling.
“You drive a hard bargain, Miss Thropp. I’ll think about it.” Glinda brushes Elphaba’s hair out of her face. Elphaba deflates in relief.
Then: a suspicious tickle at her kneecap makes her release that snort she’d been desperate to suffocate. Glinda cackles evilly.
“W-Wait, Galinda—“
“Oh, you didn’t think I was going to think about it now, did you?”
