α) A nod was given in response to the teenager's question. Numerous hours had been spent at a laptop. The task of searching through sites to find qualified and successful lawyers was proving to be extraneous so far. "I have, but I haven't found any that want to have anything to do with a case like mine. To most, it seems like I really did have something to do with his death." Not that the house owner could really blame them. Coupled with her refusal to shed too much light on that night, the circumstances already looked bad enough. When a win could not be guaranteed, the option of getting involved seemed to be too risky.
Knowing that Hanna was right about not being able to defend herself, a ghost of a frown came to the troubled resident's face. Willingly getting locked up for an act that she did not commit was not something that either female would allow. Finding someone more skilled than the Hastings mother seemed as unlikely as a detective walking arriving at the house in a matter of minutes to announce the case being thrown out. It just would not happen. "Veronica is the best lawyer in town. I doubt that we'll find someone better. I'll ask, but I can't imagine the court being thrilled with me having a lawyer that was recommended by her."
Just as it would to any sensible mother, the sight of her daughter in tears saddened Ashley. "I'm sorry, Hanna." As much as the woman wished to agree with the younger individual, it just could not happen. There was no room for certainty when things looked so grim. All options and possible outcomes needed to be looked at. Yet, it was important to appease the youth. Too many tears had already been shed on the matter. More than enough heartbreak had occurred.  "You're right, we'll get through this and we'll move away together. New York will be the perfect place for us to start over."

Hanna admired her mothers determination and strong willed nature, but she wished she would just be honest with her and tell her she was scared. How could she pretend that she wasn’t? She didn’t have to be strong for the blonde, just because she was her mother. Truth be told, Hanna would have preferred her mom to tell her how she was really feeling, but then again, she didn’t have to, the blonde already knew.
"Have you started looking? for a new lawyer? We can’t take our time with this, mom. We have to get you a new lawyer fast."she said, biting down nervously on her bottom lip. "You can’t defend yourself, you might as well go to The Police Station now and tell them you want to be locked up."the blonde replied, shaking her head. "We’ll find you a new lawyer, a better one, hopefully. Maybe Mrs. Hastings has other connections, you should ring her up and ask."she suggested, any lawyer was better than none.
Hanna held on to her, almost not wanting to let her go. She didn’t know how many moments like this she had left, and she wanted to make the most of them. “Please don’t talk like that.”she said sadly, a lone tear falling down her cheek. “I won’t have to move in with dad, because you’re not going to jail again.”she said, leaning her head against the smaller woman’s shoulder. “I will be leaving Rosewood one day, but you’ll be coming with me. We’ll move to New York, go shopping everyday. We will be together, don’t think for one second that you won’t be.”the blonde said, trying her best to reassure her mom that everything would be okay.

α) Ashley gave a nod to acknowledge the answer that was given. The questions that were asked by the younger house occupant caught the mother off guard. Of course the blonde would pick up on what was going on. Offering to make dinner had been the most noticeable slip up of all. Most meals were takeout since her kitchen skills were far from being the best in the town. As much as the woman wished to say that everything would be fine and that there was nothing to worry about, there was no point. It would not sound convincing enough. The one person who could not be fooled was her daughter.
"I don't know, but we're going to get through this. I'll just have to find another lawyer. Someone who isn't connected to Mona or Wilden." The light eyed woman paused before speaking again. "If worst comes to worst, I'll speak for myself. If they do believe me, then we'll walk out and continue on. If they don't, you might have to live with your father." It was not something that either of them wished to happen. She knew that Hanna would not be happy with them. Embracing the teenager, the older female spoke with a serious tone of voice. "No matter what happens, I want you to continue to focus on your education. You need to graduate and go to college. I don't want you going to school somewhere close. It isn't safe here anymore and you need to see the world."

Hanna had gone out for some fresh air. She couldn’t be cooped up in the house, not after the news she received. The blonde couldn’t believe that Veronica would no longer be her moms lawyer. She was the best lawyer in Rosewood, and probably her moms only chance of freedom. Now, without a lawyer, Hanna didn’t know what her mom was going to do, who was going to defend her? Hanna couldn’t bare the thought of her mom going back to jail, she didn’t even want to think about that possibility, now that she had the pleasure of having her mom back with her.
Making her way back to her house, Hanna was worried about how her mom was going to deal with this. She was barely coping already and she was scared that her mom wouldn’t be able to handle the devastating news. Hanna walked into the kitchen and was surprised to be greeted by her mother. “It was fine, the usual.”she replied, throwing her bag down on the kitchen counter. “Are you okay? You never offer to cook dinner, it’s nearly always takeout.”she asked, raising an eyebrow. “I don’t want to talk about dinner, I want to talk about you. What are we going to do now, mom?”she said slowly, walking over to her mother to give her a hug.

Let me guess, you don't believe me? Well, observe.
Tumblr media
Does this look like the Alaric you knew and loved? He did love you, y'know. They stopped him from saving you and he never lived it down. That's why he's here. He wants to feel no more guilt. Blood all over the walls, their blood. Written with the words "join us." does that sound pleasant for you? It's sounds like a delight to me.
Charles. Stop denying. We all know you loved having the demons make a hole in your soul. You loved the pure feel. You're one of us, deep down. The sooner you come to us, the sooner the torment will stop.
Vivien. We are the masters of everything. WE can destroy you, and regret nothing of it. Do you want us to prove it to you? Do you want forever to end?
You lot will have to try harder.

❦)  Jenna disbelievingly shook her head as she looked at the all too familiar man. There was no reason for someone to lie about him being a vampire. It was just difficult for the woman to wrap her mind around what had happened. Not just what, but why as well. This was what he had been driven to? All because he felt guilty for not being able to save her? On one hand, she felt pity for him. On the other, she felt anger. "I thought you were stronger than this. This isn't what I would have wanted. You were supposed to carry on without me."
Tumblr media
Ⓜ) "You can't enjoy something you weren't conscious for." An unimpressed look came to the witch's face. The demons had long since evacuated his body. He wasn't sure how, but he knew someone was responsible. Figuring out the person's identity was a task that would have to wait. For now, he enjoyed being back to his actual self. "You're just fooling yourself. I'm not one of you and there is nothing pure about demons. You're too blinded by the dark to see that."
Tumblr media
☼) Something compelled the ghost to keep from testing the man's words. After all that had been witnessed inside the house, the idea of someone having the power to end her existence really was not all that insane. The real question was if the ultimate end was better than the shell of a life she was living now."Not now. I don't want any of you to prove it yet. My answer might change in a year."

♛) Entering the quaint pawnshop, the first thing to catch Victoria's eye was not one of the many trinkets, but a person instead. The man was standing up at the front of the store and from what she could tell, he seemed to be the owner. A minuscule smile was offered before the woman spoke up to answer. "You can help me by giving me information. I assume it won't come free. Name your price and we'll go from there."
♚ Welcome to the Pawnshop ♚

Oh.
Three Of you? Let's see.. one at a time.
Jenna! How's your husbands? Oh.. Oh, is it too soon? How's Ric.. He's one of us now. Yep, you heard it. Vamp. And as for Elena and Jeremy, they'll have a hard time needing you when you're bloods written as a warning message.
Charles! We all know your daughter will forgive you.. or, will she regret not when your brains are squished to a pulp? You neverfrantanize with the enemy, Charles, you should know that by now.
And last, but certainly not least. Vivien.. what if forever, were to end now? Your daughter would take the wrong path, and we would end up dealing with her too. Oh, goodie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❦) Jenna's eyes ever so slightly widened at the mention of Alaric along with what was said about him. The idea of him being an immortal was just preposterous. "No, you're lying. He can't be a vampire." Brows furrowed at the words that were said in reference to Elena and Jeremy. It was all too apparent that the woman was confused by the other's words. "A warning message? What in the world is that supposed to mean?"
Tumblr media
Ⓜ) Charles scowled and narrowed his eyes at the taunting woman. The threat was meaningless since he had his powers back. What really irked him was the last half of her little speech. "You're delusional. I never fraternized with the enemy. That was my wife, Elizabeth. She's the one who slept with Blackwell."
Tumblr media
☼) "You're bluffing." No signs of fear were demonstrated by the ghost. Why would they be when the emotion was not felt? Eternity would not end and most definitely not anytime soon. "Isn't that what forever is about? There is no end to it." Arms crossed as an actual question escaped past her lips. "Who are you anyways?"

"You can't protect them forever."
Tumblr media
❦) Undeterred by the factual words, the woman merely smiled before responding. "We might not be able to protect them forever, but I think they've proved that they're capable of protecting themselves when we can't."
Tumblr media
Ⓜ) Having let his daughter down a number of times, Charles found himself speechless. "..............." Sure, he knew that she would be able to stand her ground, but he wanted to be there to protect her. Even though the demons had been extracted from him, there was still the matter of gaining his daughter's trust again.
Tumblr media
☼) Vivien calmly voiced a response to the words. "When you have forever, you can protect them." Sure, there wasn't anything to protect her daughter from anymore due to their otherworldly states of being, but she could still guide the teenager. They would be together for the rest of eternity. No matter what happened, the strawberry blonde mother would always be able to watch over her child.

α) Ashley gave a curt nod of her head as a sign of gratitude. "Thank you, Spencer." After a moment, the woman parted her lips again. "Rosewood has never been perfect, but it's getting worse lately. I can't be sure of anything anymore. Even if it isn't me, I want to make sure she has someone."

☼) The mother's gaze dipped so that the sleeve was focused on. A few minuscule spots of red could be seen. They obviously were not part of the shirt's design. Vivien's curiosity was set aside when the teenager voiced a question. Light eyes lifted so that their gazes met.
What exactly had caused the woman to pay the room a visit? There were a number of things. The desire to check on the daughter, the desire to discuss their new living arrangements, and the need to assure the girl that everything would be okay were just a few. They happened to be the primary reasons as well.
"I just wanted to talk." The strawberry blonde haired female glanced around the dark room for a few moments. As expected, a music station had been set up. Hues of purple could easily be noticed around the space. Turning to look back at Violet, lips parted so that the woman could continue speaking. "Moving here wasn't a family decision. Your father and I talked, but we didn't really include you."
Before any witty remarks could be voiced by the much younger female, two sincere questions were asked. "What do you think of the house? Should we move somewhere else?" Sure, the answers that were given would not bring about immediate change, but they would most definitely be taken into consideration.
Violet had her music loud as she paced her room, trying to organize things. She knew why they had moved here and she hated it. She set her books up on the self and scratched the too fresh cut along her wrist causing it to bleed a little. With a sigh, she snatched up a towel and dabbed it on the wound before setting back to work.
She hadn't heard the distinct raps on her door so when her mother's voice sounded, she grumbled quietly to herself. She made her way to turn her music down before opening the door. She eyed the woman before her before examining what she held.
"Candy violets?" She quizzed before leaving the door open and walking to sit upon her bed. "Cute."
She glanced down, noticing her arm still bleeding before tugging her sleeve down over it.
"What did you want?" She questioned, suddenly regretting her harshness.

α) Without a proper lawyer, the chances of making the case work in her favor were lowered. Even if feeling anger would do nothing to improve the situation at hand, the woman could not push the emotion away. It was not directed at the Hastings mother, but at whoever had anonymously sent in that destructive tip. The sender was the same person who had caused her to go to jail in the first place. There were no doubts about that. Unfortunately, the individual's identity could not be made known.
Hearing the front door of the two story residence unlock and swing open, Ashley's gaze lifted from the off white table. Light eyes came to look upon the form of a blonde teenager. Not just any blonde, but the very one she had spent years raising and parenting. For the sake of her daughter, concealing the anger and frustration that was being felt was of high importance. Bot corners of red lips lifted to form a seemingly sturdy smile before they were parted to allow a greeting to be voiced. "How was your day? I was just about to work on dinner. Do you have any requests?"

☼) It had been one day since the dysfunctional family had moved into the old estate. The Murder House, as it was called by so many, was certainly an odd place to call home. However, the woman had decided to give things with her disloyal husband another chance. If not for the sake of pushing away ill fate, then for the sake of continuing to parent their child. That very child was currently inside of the room that had been claimed as her own. Having looked at it before, the woman knew that it was one o the darker rooms of the house.
Three distinct knocks were given to the door. When a grunt sounded throughout the room beyond the off white door, one of the mother's hands moved to twist the brass doorknob. The other hand balanced a cream colored plate that had been removed from one of the kitchen cabinets. A single pastry rested on top of it. Brown as chocolate and big enough for two to share. It had been purchased an hour ago from a local bakery that had been advertised online. Light eyes looked upon the unmistakable form of a teenager girl. As the hand released the doorknob and returned to support the other in holding the plate, lips parted so that words could be voiced.
"I come bearing food as a peace treaty. Mind if I come in and talk?"
