Slaughterhouse-Five: THREE SHOWS LEFT!
Purchase Tickets Here:  www.bit.ly/SH5tix "Under morphine, Billy had a dream of giraffes in a garden. The giraffes were following gravel paths, were pausing to munch sugar pears from treetops. Billy was a giraffe, too. He ate a pear. It was a hard one. It fought back against his grinding teeth. It snapped in juicy protest. The giraffes accepted Billy as one of their own, as a harmless creature as preposterously specialized as themselves."

Slaughterhouse-Five Cast Update
Hello True False Theatre Fans,
We regret to announce that David Kubicka will no longer be playing the role of Billy Pilgrim in the upcoming production of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five as part of the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival.  The talented Jamie Effros, who was originally playing Kilgore Trout and Howard C. Campbell, Jr. will be taking over the role of Billy Pilgrim.  Bruce Bluett, an excellent (and lucky for us, available) actor, will be taking over the roles of Kilgore Trout and Howard C. Campbell, Jr.  We are saddened by Mr. Kubicka's departure but are excited for the new energy in the rehearsal room and eventually on stage that Jamie Effros will bring to the production.  If you're interested in purchasing tickets please click here

5 Reasons To Donate To TFT's IndieGoGo
Look fans, we know we hound you sometimes to to donate to our production, but you're the reason our small nonprofit theatre company has the support (financially & enthusiastically) to put on productions such as Slaughterhouse-Five at the NYC Fringe Festival this summer.  So in asking for your support were posting the 5 Reasons you should contribute to Slaughterhouse-Five's IndieGoGo campaign.
Our Production is Part of The New York International Fringe Festival- This celebrated international festival is the big leagues for off & off-off broadway productions.  We are honored to be a part of it, so we want to represent True False Theatre as best we can as our team puts together Slaughterhouse-Five.
Our Show Raises Awareness About Soldier, War, and PTSD- Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five isn't a goofy sci-fi tale, but a serious study our WWII soldiers returning home after the devastation across Europe.  We're sharing Billy Pilgrim's story to give audiences a deeper understanding of the pain, fear, and detachment American soldiers with PTSD felt and still feel after returning home from WWII and the current wars we still fight.
Donations Are Tax Deductible- Any donation $50 or over is tax deductible, so help out our non-profit theatre company and get a little break.
Donors Get Perks in Exchange For Their Donations- A special thanks on our website, physical copy of the script signed by the cast, a digital edition of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five.  These are perks you get for donating the bare-bones amounts to our campaign.  To see the good stuff, refer to our IndieGoGo campaign by clicking here.
Know You Contributed To An Amazing Show & That You Helped To Create It- You guys are awesome!  Did we mention that?  Your donation could lead to a key prop, or an epic costume, or a sweet poster posted throughout NYC.  When you donate you know your money went straight to the production of Slaughterhouse-Five, and we couldn't have done it without you.

Slaughterhouse Series Part 1- Kurt Vonnegut: Family & Childhood
We're putting our interns to work to provide via our new and improved Tumblr a blog series history of Kurt Vonnegut.  Every couple of days we'll be providing unique stories and facts about Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five, and our own production's role in the history of the celebrated author and arguably most infamous science fiction novel of all time.  In part 1 of this series we delve into the mind of Kurt Vonnegut, his childhood, and series of events that could have incepted the idea of Slaughterhouse-Five.  Enjoy
Kurt Vonnegut truly transformed science fiction, creating a chaotic conceivable world of irrationality, humor, and fictional-realism.  He was born during modernism, but after his service in WWII immersed his writing, and in many ways his life, into the post-modern art critique.  His fiction is not pure escapism, but dangerously realistic and poignant to the relationship between daily tragedy and comedy.  Vonnegut's works to some are absurd, but they convey a deeper understanding of the world that lives off the pages.
Vonnegut allowed events during his early life to push him into transforming science fiction.  He was born on November 11, 1922 into a German-American family of free thinkers.  His great-grandfather, Clemens Vonnegut, had authored a free-thought book titled Instruction in Morals and his own funeral address denying the existence of God, an afterlife, and Christian doctrines.  The denunciation of Christianity was unheard of in 1920s & 1930s Indiana, where Vonnegut grew up, but young Kurt continued throughout life to be a skeptic of Christianity.  He considered the writings of his great-grandfather to be his "ancestral religion".
Kurt Jr. was born into wealth.  His father, Kurt Sr., was a prominent architect and partner at the firm Vonnegut & Bohn.  His mother, Edith, was the daughter of a wealthy Indianapolis brewer.  Kurt Jr. inherited his father's name, but he was actually the youngest of three children.  His older brother Bernard would go on to follow in the path of his father and grandfather by attending MIT.  His sister Alice was sweet, kind, and known for her terrible back luck.  The Vonneguts lived a privileged life, until the stock market crash forced Kurt Sr. to close the architectural firm and sell the family home.  Kurt Jr. was taken out of private school and had a childhood filled with confusion and pessimism.  His father slipped into addictions to alcohol and prescription drugs.  His mother became depressed.  His parents had been financially blindsided by the Great Depression, and Kurt Jr was forced to grow up too quickly.
Vonnegut attended Shortridge High School and wrote for the student paper, The Echo.  He found his peace in journalism.  After graduating Shortridge in May 1940 he attended Cornell as a chemistry major, but found himself more interested in journalism.  He became managing editor of the student paper, The Sun.  Kurt Jr. described himself as a lousy chemistry student, but dedicated himself to the craft of journalism and creative writing.  He might have written his first novel at Cornell, but the European Theatre had other plans for him.
In our next part we examine Kurt Vonnegut's service in Europe during WWII and its clear impact on his writing and in particular, Slaughterhouse-Five.  If you're a fan of True False Theatre or Kurt Vonnegut in general, please considering contributing to our theatrical production this August as part of the 2013 New York Fringe Festival.  Please click the link: http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/fringenyc-and-true-false-theatre-present-slaughterhouse-five-by-kurt-vonnegut

Billy Pilgrim’s story gives audiences a deeper understanding of American soldiers who have survived trauma
Our upcoming production of Slaughterhouse-Five is most likely one of the most formidable and intense productions True False Theatre has ever put together.  Not only do we need your help in helping us make this production a success, but we want our family, friends, and fans to be a part of Slaughterhouse-Five and earn cool perks for the support.  That's why we've started an Indiegogo Campaign to raise money for the production.
Our goal in producing Slaughterhouse-Five is to reveal the struggles of soldiers coping with Post-Traumatic Stree Disorder both overseas and at home.  By sharing Billy Pilgrim's story, we hope to give audiences a deeper understanding of the pain, fear, and detachment experienced by American soldiers who have survived trauma.
Your donation, no matter what the size ($1 to Your Family's Long Lost Fortune) will help create a successful run at FringeNYC.  More information and the perks breakdown is available by clicking the link above.  We'd just like to take a moment to thank everyone for their support past, present, and future.
