uh… that aside, though, what’s it like bein a bug gym leader? People always tend to take the type for granted, yo, or think that they’re weaker than other pokemon. You provin em wrong out there?

I found Zale wounded on a beach just outside my childhood home the night I returned from studying abroad at Naranja-Uva Academy. He was a tiny little wimpod back then, I imagine he was horrified of me in the moment, but the poor thing had no strength to evade me scooping him up and stowing him away to nurse him back to health.

After I rehabilitated him, he was stuck to me like stubborn glue and the rest is history.

Zale has flourished under my care, becoming a formidable foe to all who we face, though he still finds comfort in me and his teammates. He's a true gentle giant and I wouldn't have it any other way, it's much too endearing.

And as for being a bug gym leader: why wouldn't I be proving them wrong? If my placement in the lineup doesn't clue them in to how strong bugs can be, it'd be their fault for underestimating me.
