Jinx Fighting/Shooting combined with the fight against Smeech in season 2
Considering Jinx’s weapon of choice is a gun, she doesn't do a lot of close up combat. That meaning, when she does she doesnt change to a fistfight style, instead she uses her gun to hit them, and she uses her legs a LOT. She uses her speed and size to her advantage, which for some reason no one ever expects because they think she has NO close range combat experience, which is honestly a very good element of surprise.
In the fight against Smeech and his guys, where Sevika joins in, it's the same. Her tactics are similar to Sevika in that she strives to remain calm, talking to her opponent a lot to try and throw them off. Such as, at the beginning when Smeech is threatening to take her eye out. She knows it's a valid threat, but that he also isn't being very serious; if she messes with him he’d get annoyed and stab her, but if she stays calm it throws her off because he really doesn't know what he’s doing. So, she tells him that she is the one who killed Silco, Smeech was already using the topic of Silco to try and get to her, but unknowingly gave her the upper hand through that. By using that information to throw him off, getting him to back off, unsettling him with both her calm, her threats, and now knowing she killed Silco.
Even before this, you can see her again with her legs. Even though her arms are pinned she lashes out kicking Smeechs men before he comes over to her.
After threatening to kill him, he steps back, and his men come in instead, preparing to both beat her up and kill her. Instead, Sevika comes in and shoots his hat off of his hat (a gun which was clearly made by jinx which is cute) Smeech knows this fight is over before it's even begun, you can see it in his face when Sevika shows up. Jinx uses this distraction to escape and get Sevika her new arm. Right after this you can see what i was talking about earlier; everyone seems to underestimate her close combat skills and her speed, and her opponents this time around seem to be staggeringly underqualified; which i think again is a large reason as to why Smeech never tried to oppose Sevika alone, he knew he both would win and that it would be an unfair fight the entire time considering it'd be both jinx and sevika against them. He was arrogant when he first caught Jinx because he thought he had found the only time where she would both be vulnerable and away from sevika.
She uses the same style once again, staying consistent. Unlike Vi, she developed her style not so much based on what she was taught but on what worked, so it makes sense for her style to be much more of a mix of things. She stays defensive, using her new arm to block his whole body and push him back, creating space between them, allowing her to size up the situation and gain her footing. During her fight with Smeech she uses similar tactics she uses against Vi; she has the upper hand, but he arrogantly (again) tries to still fight back when she is having trouble with her new arm, and he lunges at her, leaving his entire body completely unprotected with his arms splayed out, giving her the perfect spot to absolutely decimate him, which she does; ripping his arm off and taking advantage of the lovely open space he gave her to break his face. And then he has the stupid stupid idea to try and jump down on the lady with the jaws on her arm.
Her style really fascinates me, it shows her obvious experience, and a how a lot of past mistakes lead her to create what she has now. Its not a typical style, and not something you'd never see in the ring but its incredibly affective and works perfect for being in the Undercity; it covers all basis and stays defensive. if you don't want a fight then don't go starting or continuing one.

Sevikas fight style analyzes by a boxer
Sevikas style is centered around defense, and hindering her opponent. After being kneed in the face, when Vi starts to hit her again she completely blocks herself, she gives herself no opening, and does not search for one, she goes completely defensive before slipping to the side, causing Vi to miss, and while that usually wouldn't be something so detrimental as it is here but because Vi anticipated her to continue to block, she puts too much momentum forward and loses her footing for less than a second and during that gap Sevika takes down her defense, leaving her mechanical arm in the way of Vi, and wraps it around the punch she just threw, and grabbing her other one as Vi tries to free herself. This completely incapacitates Vi, her arms are totally locked and locked straight, allowing Sevika to take control of the situation as well as say something to her without interruption, she is able to headbut her twice and then she returns to defense. She Pushes her back, shoving Vi away from her, letting Sevika gain her footing again and keeping Vi unbalanced all in one.
Because of this, Sevikas opponent is now hindered and she has the upper hand, which is when she changed her tactic and throws a shot to the body to keep Vi’s hands down, so she can then give what can be translated to a hook, taking advantage of the time she has before Vi moves again. But, something sevika doesn’t take into account so well at this moment is Vi’s speed, which is a key component as to why her style even works without getting her pummeled as it did in her first fight that we see. Sevika doesn't account that, so when Vi is able to recover so fast (see post about her fight style i wrote) and moves out of the way of the hook instead of just ducking down, which is what most would do in that situation, she is able to get to Sevikas entirely unprotected side where her arm hangs loose instead of up in defense.
Because of this, you get the next snippet which is where Vi gains the upper hand again; she throws a body shot underneath Sevika, and because her arms were down it lands hard, which throws her off. During this sequence, Vi uses one of my personal favorite moves which is rolling to the outside under the punch sevika threw, then grabbing sevikas arm and throwing an uppercut underneath it. It stops her from returning to defense, keeping her face totally unguarded, and then she reaches under to hit her, and her form stays solid and intake, with her shoulder rolling with the punch giving her whole body weight behind it just as you should.
This doesn't last long however; with Sevikas arm injecting her with shimmer again. BUT, i think that even without the shimmer the fight wouldn't have gone much different, because Vi made the mistake of giving Sevika even a second of a break, which meant that given she got up again she would’ve returned to being entirely defensive, forcing Vi to get predictable. But she did take the shimmer, so going off of that, she still goes back to being entirely defensive, throwing something at Vi, making her prioritize dodging over keeping her opponent in her eyesight, giving Sevika the chance she needed to get back to her, body slamming her, once again rendering her basically defenseless before she grabs her by the neck, both hindering her opponent unable to strike back and also being able to sling her around in an attack. After the following sequence, where Vi knee’s her in the gut, sevika is thrown off and they are both tired. Sevika gets back up, but Vi is back in her stance first, giving her the upper hand, letting her basically hit sevika around and making her unable to get back into a defensive position. This continues on until Sevika tells her the key information that Jinx now works for Silco. If it weren't for that, Vi would’ve won the fight, but that information threw her off, and made her get sloppy, on top of her exhaustion and injuries. Sevika stabs her, and I consider the fight over at that point.
Sevikas style is consistent throughout the fight, she has patterns of behavior that are unpredictable because while they are patterns they don't necessarily repeat in a sequence as one would imagine. Instead she searches for an opportunity and then does the expected attack. From inside the fight, you would never see it coming, but from an outside perspective you recognize the gaps in her opponent at the same time she does, giving her the opportunity to knock her opponent down and get in hard, heavy hits.

Jayce and Ekko in the Arcane
Both were shown by the arcane what needed to be done, in different ways.
Jayce got shown why he needs to destroy the Hexcore (at the time Viktor) and we see the full scene of why he is in the end convinced when he is showing Viktor himself. He's shown what would happen and what Viktors eventual plan is, how things will go and what the people Viktor "saved" would turn into; which is why he came back determined and changed from before.
Ekko was shown how things could have been, and a reason to keep fighting for it. He was given his dream, how he wished things could have been, and how things could be for the next generations if he kept fighting for that future.

i have more to say; but its small so it doesnt get its own post.
The short version of both analyses ive done is that Vi fights like a heavyweight which is very out of the ordinary for someone of her stature and thats why her form and style is so interesting and why its so personalized. why does she fight like that? because vander taught her how to fight. all caught up to speed great lets continue.
In the first fight of the entire show, where they go and rob jayce, and they end up with those two guys in the ally trying to mug them and take what they stole, Vi has almost no defense, she goes in with the first punch, her hands are low, and she braces her small child body to take the blows just as she's seen vander do before. Now, vander definitely didnt teach her to do that, thats stupid and an easy way to lose every fight and you can see that she does know defense but its not practiced because she is young, she sees what works for vander and tries to copy it, even though it doesnt work for her. in this scene Mylo and Claggor are both fighting to their own stature and i guess you could consider it their weight class. the way claggor fights is in resemblance of how vander fights as well, but Benzo probably helped a lot in mentoring both of them as well. they are much more successful in this fight, whereas Vi gets basically pummeled. This i believe leads to her altering her fight style either intentionally or subconsciously to a more guarded style, not just taking hit after hit recklessly but properly anticipating and blocking appropriately to take them and strike back, turning her style into an altered heavyweight fight. not only has this been beneficial in her taking on larger opponents, but also ended up being most likely what has allowed her to fight through substantial injuries because when anticipated that they will strike, if you cant block it then control where they hit you to minimize damage.
you can see this change in her style even as soon as when she is trying to rescue vander, her fighting is much more defensive, she waits for her opponent to strike, and then retaliates combining the speed of her size and her heavy hitting to get behind them while remaining guarded in the front so she isnt surprised.
thats all for reals now
Vi's fighting style analyzed by s boxer pt 2!
this time with gauntlets! @stellarremnant i remember you asked about the vi with gauntlets rant so here it is!
Beginning with Vi and Jayce’s fight against the Chemtanks, this is the most clear scene of her with the gauntlets and its entirely focused on the fight. In a scene like the bar fight with sevika (both of them) the framing style in the animation changes to something more “cramped” to reflect the environment around them, making it seem like there is a camera mounted on the wall, or as if you were watching from the room seeing the things in the way of the fight. However, during this fight scene it is in a big open space, which is reflected in the animation. Anyways, during this scene there are a few key spots i'd like to point out which really highlight the DETAIL in this animation, it's truly incredible. Firstly, these screenshots right here.
They don't highlight anything specific in her fighting or anything like that, but it does give an intro that supports the previous analysis of her fighting with her heavy hitting, as well as weight distribution of how she coordinated her bodyweight into the punch; which in the ring is exactly what you want to do, you get more points the more force you put behind a punch vs just arm strength.
Next, these shots here
These are the clearest shots I've found of her boxing stance and where she holds her arms. Her technique is AWESOME, her chin is down to protect her throat, she looks outwards through her eyebrows, her back is curved in to bring her elbows down over more of her ribs, with the larger gauntlets she compensates for the lost mobility by holding them further from her face, and tucking the rest of her body closer in to make up for the ability to tuck her fists close to her face. I cannot stress enough how fantastic her stance is, it is exactly what you want to have when fighting, she has all weak points checked and either already covered or easily coverable. Amazing details from the animators.
Moving on, as the scene progresses her style is very similar to how she fights normally, but you can see the slight shifts in her technique from the added weight and size of the gauntlets. Her punches become a lot less fast and sharp, turning into hits that look a lot more momentum heavy than strength heavy, using the size to her advantage (as anyone would) while still maintaining the ability to bring her fists back to her face to protect herself, basically never over extending her elbows, and keeping the distances of her punches in check so as not to lose control of the added weight on her hands.
These ones here REALLY stood out
These screenshots here stood out to me a LOT, not for any “fancy move” or anything but it really brings out the incredible detail put in by the animators. This is a double forearm block, you bring your fists up to your forehead and tuck your face in, using your gloves and forearms to protect your face. It's an incredibly useful block, but also tends to open up your ribs/abs, and much like the rest of her style, requires more risk than a dodge would in this scenario, however as per usual she blocks, she uses one arm to bring the opponents fist down, right after which when the opponent strikes again, she brings its arm up, opening up the side ribs and delivering a absolutely DISGUSTINGLY beautiful body shot. Incredible.
this next one here is my personal favorite, and if you go rewatch the scene you can hardly even see it which makes it even better.
This sequence right here is my favorite part of this whole fight scene. She uses a very powerful combo. The Chemtank throws what can be taken as a hook, or I guess a slash? Since it has blades? Anyways, instead of doing what she usually does, and which IS done a few seconds after this sequence, which would be to grab the blade with the gauntlet and use the incapacitated arm to strike back, she rolls, dodging the attack entirely and while the most effective evasion would then be to turn her body to the side to completely be out of its range and be able to strike back, she instead attacks once again with an absolutely brutal body shot once again, and follows it up with an uppercut that gives us this lovely shot here.
Even the form on her uppercut is incredible, starting from her ribs with her legs bent and as her fist comes in contact with the chemtank she twists her torso and straightens her legs adding the extra force that leads to it being launched into the air, bringing the uppercut through the torso of the chemtank. Absolutely beautiful uppercut, incredible form, and amazing detail from the animators with the amount of work and research that must've gone into actually learning and animating real combos, counters, and defense.
God this scene is honestly peak im so happy i got to watch it over and over again while writing this !! her entrance, the initial punch, the wink to Jayce before just going absolutely ham on the chemtanks, it's all incredible. And what so impressive is the speed at which she fights, and how much of it looks like just random hits until really slowed down and gone frame by frame seeing how many intricate hits and really fit into the few seconds of a scene, and how realistic it is to a real fight continues to astonish me everytime I see it.
had a lot of fun with this! Sevika will be next!

SUCH, an old rant, heres idk this ig
at the end of tma, as we know, he dies. he gets killed, by Martin, his lover. this is known by you guys. HOWEVER, what you don't know, is WHYYYY. in the final episodes of tma he finds his friends, Georgie and Melanie (hehe lesbians) who are immune to the fear powers because Gorgie has this thing going for her where she doesn't feel fear (because of an encounter in college will explain later) and Melanie gouged her eyes out to escape the archives. Because neither of them have any ties with the fears anymore they can walk the domains without being affected by them at all. As well as this, underneath the institute there are these old tunnels, designed by the architect Robert Smirk, these tunnels, being right under what used to be the institute during the eyepocalypse means the eye can see it. (eye can't see itself yk?) they also had the ability to take people out of the domains; and bring them to the tunnels and out of their torment. this never lasted long. The watchers would almost always come back and find them and take them back to their hellscape.
moving on, he and Martin find the two of them with 5 others they've taken from the domains within the tunnels; and since they are underneath the panopticon which is where Jonah is, they begin to try and find a way to turn the world back to normal. John knows it's impossible. he is the embodiment of all the known knowledge in the universe, while there are some things he doesn't know; because NO ONE knows them. he knows everything. he knows there is no real way to put the world back and for him to survive. he has resigned himself to this fate and can't bring it up to Martin because he is too stubborn to accept that Jon will not be making out alive. Jon is the pupil of the eye, he is too connected with it to be so separated from it if the fears went back to their edge of the universe. Georgie and Melanie would accept this if they knew it was the only way. but Martin, Martin would never accept it. and he doesn't! john tries his very best to gently let them know that no matter the options they talk about, he won't make it out. he tries so hard to hide how much he longs to be in his rightful place in the panopticon. He knows it's wrong that he wants that but I really don't think it is, he IS the eye, and he feeds on the terror and the fear of everyone around him, and he loves it! but he has so much guilt that this is what feeds him, and he feels so guilty that he enjoys the others suffering because the archivist was literally MADE to watch and perceive the fear of others.
they have some options on how they can turn the world back to normal, but only one of them would actually work. the options are basically to let Jon take over the hellscape, and monitor the fear domains, try and make them manageable, make them more “fair”; this is the one that Jon wants. he longs to take his place as the pupil, the archive. the rest of them hate that idea. they find it unfair and say it would change nothing. the other option is for Jon to take his place and then just move everyone towards the end. the end is the fear of death, meaning that in that domain people will eventually die, meaning as the world goes on everyone will eventually die, so if he moves everyone to the end domain, and then speed it up, it could be a mercy to let them die, compared to the hell they currently suffer.
the last option is for them to allow the fears to go into a different world. there are other universes, and one of the avatars of the web has found a rift between them that has been worn and stretched enough to make it a gap. if they kill Jonah, and Jon isn't close enough to take his place, the fears will flood their way into other universes. this isn't a favored one either, because while their world will go back to normal, it means that thousands, maybe millions of other worlds will have the fears within them; still working as normal, but the risk is then added that people will take the same path as those in their world did, leading it to be doomed as well. they end up choosing this path, but no one there will listen to the all-seeing antichrist sitting next to them. he knows that he will not survive this, and Martin's main argument on all of them is that he does not want to lose Jon. he cannot lose Jon, Jon has to make it through with them. he is stubborn. Jon knows that he won't live. any option that means the world goes back to normal means that he dies. he tries to tell them but knows they won't listen to him, and won't accept it.
they have the plan to put the world back to normal, but Jon goes against it, when martin is supposed to go up and kill Jonah, Jon goes instead. he knows he'll die, and he knows that the plan will fail if he is not the one to kill jonah. so he does! and I honestly can't recommend enough listening to the first half of that episode because of the statement he does, it's incredible and it's the reason I relisten to it so much despite the pain it causes me mentally 🥲.
*ahem*
in short, Jon deserved more respect and more understanding, and people didn't value him enough, and hated him too much for decisions that were made out of his hands and happened to fall on his shoulders, and he should have been listened to more.
#this is so incredibly old im sorry#my irl told me to post it#the magnus archives#jonathan sims#im sorry if anything is mischaracterized or feels incorrect or over explaining#it was made for an irl who hadn't listened yet and i was trying to provide context#jon sims of the magnus archives they could never make me hate you

heres a rant about Vi's fighting style, coming from a boxer
okay so starting with her fighting when she was younger, in the clip where she is boxing against the like "game" machine as a kid; her style is very fast and relies on the opponents punching first, and her speed and agility in dodging. you can see her slipping and rolling quite often, as well as stepping back but not as often. Within this, her fighting style would take advantage of her size, using her at the time smaller frame to slip not only around but between the punches and hitting in the small weak zones that would be hard to get to if the opponent had not punched. This style is incredibly defensive, relying on agility and the other opponents most likely anger to get fast "stinging" hits in as opposed to hard heavy ones.
In contrast, her fighting style is INCREDIBLY different when we see her fighting Sevika later. you can see from the earlier scenes of them going around the undercity that she has regained her agility while in prison, and has not lost her quick maneuvers, however during the fight with sevika one crucial part of her fighting style has changed, instead of dodging and using her speed to her advantage she instead uses Sevikas own fighting style against her by blocking instead. She still relies on defense, but it's in a much more offensive style, taking the hits or stopping them with her own fists to block them instead of dodging in between them in search of an opening. her fighting style has changed DRASTICALLY, but you can still see glimpses of how she would fight as a child in the way she waits for her opponent to strike, and then in the small gap in when the arm is extended before she can bring it back in to block, she uses her speed to her advantage to punch between that gap. She has (in my opinion) (def not because it's also my fighting style) the best and most successful fighting style when it comes to actual defense (not so much in the ring) because she is letting her opponent get tired out. Her blocks are solid, and if you have the capability to withstand it (which she definitely does) it's a rather painless style as well, taking blunt hits to the sides and fists will ALWAYS hurt less than smaller points with the same amount of force. something about the surface area idk but it's the same reason why my face isn't black and blue right now after having a 9 pound weight chucked at me but a baseball gave me a full black eye. She repeatedly tucks in her elbows, covering her ribs while holding her chin close to her chest to protect the side of her face with her fists and her throat with her chin. Her fight with Sevika may have seemed like a rash decision but in the way she fights you can tell she is prepared for the fight and had thought it through before. However, as the fight continues and Sevika talks more, as well as begins to gain the upper hand, and showing off her new metal arm, her fighting style becomes sloppier, and she takes worse hits than before, failing to block or dodge them in time.
I say her fighting style is my personal favorite but a fatal flaw in it will always be that you NEED to block the hit properly, because if you took the hit full force without blocking, then it really would knock you down a peg in terms of fighting endurance, your general strength, and oftentimes since you usually block hits to the body it messes with your breathing pattern as well. it disrupts the flow of the fight and will mess up your endurance; which is exactly what starts to happen as the fight continues. Sevika says something i can't remember, and Vi gets sloppy and Sevika begins to hit harder and brings her metal arm out for more hits than blocks. HOWEVER a sad and incredible detail is that when Vi takes the hits that she cant block, she unconsciously returns to the fighting style she had as a child, or at least tries to. She puts her fists back up, but doesnt block her ribs so closely, similarly to how she would as a child. this, while offering less protection DOES give you more mobility and leeway in dodging, which she tries to do for the next few hits but the ones she sustained from sevika before limit her making those moves impossible, so she keeps trying to block the heavy shots while wanting to get out of the way but being unable to.
BUT what's interesting to connect is Vanders fighting style, and how it relates to Vi's. Vander would be a heavyweight in boxing, and it's clear that the way he fights is heavy and hard, the same way his style evolved to be. He takes the hit, and hits back even harder. In the beginning of Vi's first fight with Silco's people on shimmer, she adapts to that fighting style when it gets tough. She stops dodging so much and starts to calculate which hits she can and can't take. obviously child Vi doesn't go taking heavy hits from the grown adults trying to fight her but she stop slipping into the gaps and finding weak spots, instead beginning to divert punches and hit them out of the way while getting in to her opponents personal space, limiting the area they can hit her with be getting into spaces you couldn't punch to with force. WHICH is just like what you would do in a heavyweight match, the goal is to take the punch and hit back even harder, OR to get them in a place where they can't properly fight. In my personal opinion I think this means we can readily glean that Vander definitely taught Vi how to fight, and encouraged her to develop a style different from his own knowing that she wouldn't be able to take hits like he could, and hoping she would never find herself in a spot where she had to. So, in her training she would fight fast and light, dodging everything and prioritizing avoiding getting hit above hitting back, trying to tire her opponent out. However when it came to the actual fight and saving Vander, she went to what she knew worked, which was Vanders fighting style. get hit and hit harder. Which is what she continued to do through prison, and how her fighting style developed into what I mentioned in the fight with Sevika, but you can see glimmers of what Vander must have taught her to shine through when she gets scared.
#im going insane#im also super excited for season two#this was a little bit old so i might remaster it later#arcane#vi arcane#boxing#im really excited to see how her hand to hand combat style evolves through the next season and if we get to see more vi fighting with weapo#because her fighting style with weapons/gauntlet is also a rant in itself

Logan and Mary Puppins are so “dad and the dog he said he didn’t want” coded. He was acting disgusted by that dog for 90% of the movie, then when they were going to fight the Deadpools that almost baby-talk “You won’t wanna see this, bub.” slipped out. Then ofc there’s the bit at the end when they’re all at the table and he’s just sitting there playing with her ears and laughing as he makes her high-five Laura. I see you, mr “she is NOT coming with us”. You like that nasty little dog

Things that make me lose my mind: Poolverine edition:
"Are you ready to be calm?"
"Not all of you was asleep."
Logan telling Wade that he'll never save the universe and it cuts to Wade looking like he'd been hit by a truck and the pan back to Logan instantly regretting it and getting even angrier than he was + Wade taking it all silently.
Wade using his thighs and leg to smash Logan's head into the side of the car.
Leg over Logan's shoulder as he penetrates Wade + Wade arching up and taking it like a good boy.
"I take it back, the Honda Odyssey fucks hard. Too bad you don't, needle dick." (ok, BRAT.)
"Oh we're just getting started, bub." (ok brat tamer.)
Logan smiling with Wade's blood dripping into his mouth. (freak...)
That shot of Wade bricked up in the back seat.
The entire Honda Odyssey scene alright. It's called sex when you're gay.
"You're the one that I want" Playing as they're trying to maul each other by the way.
D: "You smell something?" W: Yeah, you. A lot of you." Right before the DP variants appear. (why do you know what Wade smells like hm? that's gay.)
A song about blowjobs playing as they fight all the DP variants. "I'm down on my knees, I wanna take you there???" and "I hear you call my name, and it feels like home" (gay.)
From "Did you just say you made an educated fucking wish?" to "Don't listen to him he's a liar." to "You didn't lie, you made an educated wish."
From "It's one of god's best jokes that you can't die" to breaking down the reinforced steel door to get to Wade.
Wade getting jealous when other people were ogling Logan shirtless and Logan actually listening to Wade and putting on a jacket.
"They called after me and I ignored them." To Wade calling Logan's name and taking a second before turning and going home with him.
The way Logan looks at Wade when he's being introduced to Blind Al. (I haven't seen him smile like this ever.)
