After stumbling across it years ago, I finally managed to get Aperture Science DS running on my flash cartridge yesterday! I’m excited to finally be able to play it!

For those who don’t know, Aperture Science DS is an adaptation of the Portal games for the Nintendo DS and includes most of the mechanics found in the original. The code was written entirely by smealum and the graphics were made by Lobo. It’s fairly buggy and incomplete, but mostly playable. It includes 14 levels made by smealum, loganino, and tenteran, and also features a full-fledged level editor inspired by Portal 2′s own Perpetual Testing Initiative. Also, you play as Doug Rattmann!

The creator’s original website is no longer available, but I have the links to its Internet Archive pages on my website. I’ll put a link to my page in the replies in case anyone is interested!

The thin line between hate and help

“Well instead of you waiting for me tomorrow to cheer you up, you can call me whenever, okay?”

“yeah yeah, sure.”

That's the closest House may get to an agreement for help.

House hadn't meant to get so drunk, he just wanted to have some drinks with Wilson and catch up on his soap on the couch. It's been a long week. He's already finished two difficult cases with his leg burning the entire time, and he's pretty sure Cuddy planned his clinic duty tomorrow to be longer than thirty minutes.

With a sigh, he reached out and opened his fifth- sixth? beer. House took a long sip of his drink and threw his head back to where Wilson was still sipping on his second can.

House giggled, “I drank more”

“I don't think your head will thank you for this victory tomorrow House”

House slurred, “nahhh, maybe I'll get the day off”

Wilson hummed, “yeah try getting that excuse through to Cuddy”

The idea of working tomorrow is just too much with his leg not calming down. He could ask for a day off, but Cuddy won't believe him. He just wants a break from everything.

Wilson wasn't as drunk as the diagnostitian beside him, House was mostly sitting quietly and fidgeting at times. Wilson liked the white noise of another person existing beside him, even if they were technically not fully there. After a couple minutes of complete silence from House, Wilson looked to his left and was surprised to find House staring at him.

Wilson cleared his throat, “do I have something on my face?”

House just simply replied “I hate you.” It did break Wilson's heart to hear that from his friend, but it wasn't filled with malice, it was the tone House used when he realized something.

Wilson croaked out “What?”

“you're stopping me from having a break”

“I'm,, not. You can have one whenever House.”

House let out a huff, “no you idiot, from life.”

Wilsons thoughts froze, "from life?”

“are you just gonna repeat what I'm saying?” House groaned, “and it still doesn't help”

“House you aren't making sense”

“Okay let me make this clear for you, Einstein. I'm tired. Tired of my leg and dealing with stupid patients all day, and how i wish I could just end it right now, but something about pretty boy Wilson is stopping me”

As Wilson processed that heap of an emotional confession from House, he stopped in his tracks. “Wait, how does that make you hate me?”

House's voice increased, “Because! Because you won't let me rest Wilson!”

Before Wilson could reply, he was cut off by House whispering harshly, “do you know how many times I've nearly ended it? everything hurting, and I've got whatever in my hand to get the job done, but I stop, you know why?” House let out a shaky breath, “because my stupid brain wanted to see you the next day, ‘oh what will Wilson say tomorrow?’ That's all that's keeping me alive at this point, and it's getting annoying, Wilson.”

Wilson didn't even know what to say, so he just shifted closer to House and wrapped his hands around House's back. Wilson knew House was suicidal but not that he's House's only thing to live for, and that was confusing, “why me?”

House shifted closer into Wilson and hummed, "you're interesting. I like that about you”

“Well instead of you waiting for me tomorrow to cheer you up, you can call me whenever, okay?”

“yeah yeah, sure.”

House woke up the next day from smelling pancakes across the hall and the biggest hangover ever. He has no remembrance of what he said last night, but he doesn't feel regret, just a more settled in feeling. He didn't want to ask Wilson, but he suspects the pancakes are an apology of sorts, whatever hes gonna eat them anyways.

And if House notices Wilson being more caring around him. He doesn't stop him.
