Ultra-specific trope im thinking really hard about: When a character refuses to kill someone who asks them to, not out of righteousness or any care for the other person, but out of hostility or spite. No, I won’t give you what you want. I won’t let you escape this through death.

When Whumpee's messaging someone for help and the receiver gets to see their condition worsen in real time because each new message is more and more incoherent and unreadable than the last 👀👀👀

Manhandling <3
Grabbing their hair and forcing eye contact
Pushing them down into a desk, scattering all the items on it
Shoving them against a wall, knocking the breath out of them
An arm around their torso, trying to get them to move
Twisting their arm behind them, threatening to break it
The grunt that’s released when their face is slammed into the ground
Dragging them by a leash while they struggle to keep up
Dragging them by the ankle while they beg for mercy
Holding them by the hair and shoulder, forcing them to face what’s in front of them
Slamming their back into the wall or floor, then quickly holding a knife to their throat
I just love manhandling

the brief and instinctive touch when a whumpee wakes up following being unresponsive or revives after resuscitation - the moment when the person there who cares about them is just so relieved that they’re alive, that they’re responding, that they just can’t help clasp them in a tight hug, or cup their cheek, or kiss their head. that nonverbal you’re still here, i got you, thank fuck you’re alive.

this one is a niche one but : bilingual caretaker trying to comfort whumpee and whispering in their mother tongue because they associate it with safety/warmth/home. hushed foreign words and gentle touches

H/c aesthetic: makeshift bedding.
The little group has found someplace to stop for a bit. They hurry to strip off their coaks and coats and spread them on the ground one atop the other, then they very gently lay their injured companion down.

An injured character is struggling to get up and gets so far as getting out of bed- but only so far as the floor immediately beside it- they either fall out of bed itself or immediately collapse upon trying to stand- and that's where their companion(s) find them; crumpled in a heap on the rug beside the bed, bedding tangled and askew, unable to get back into bed on their own and worse off now for the attempt- now their companion(s) have to maneuver them back into bed and set them and their injuries back to rights.
