It's time for 2.5 exciting months of reading and choosing our favourite Snupin fics from the nominations! (See below for FAQs and information on how authors can opt out of the project.) Voting: March 10th to May 10th May 31st (extended!) Release of lists: June 10th

How to vote

Read (at least) the Excerpts of the 79 candidate fics in the AO3 Collection (you can also browse via our Nominated Fics List)

Submit your favourite ten Snupin fics (preferably in alphabetical order) via the Google Form

Also via the form; add some Notes about why you like the fic (and make sure to leave comments for the authors if you can). We will share some of these notes with everyone.

Reminder that voting results will be posted anonymously; your username won't be associated with your choices.

Bonus tool! 🗒️(optional, for personal use) Use our Tracking Sheet to track your reading if you want! It's just an optional tool. You can track which fics you're interested in reading fully, whether you kudos/commented, and whether the fic might make your favourite ten list.   For personal use: we aren't going to look at this! You don't submit this. Just make a copy if you want to use it.

List release

For the project list release on June 10th, some of the things we will share are:

Lists of people's ten favourites will be posted as nifty graphics! (anonymously - your username will not be attached to your top ten selection; though we encourage you to save and repost them with your username if you'd like).

"Fics That Made It Into the Most People's Top Ten" list, a highlight of some of the community's favourite Snupin fics as of 2025.

All 79 fics will be presented in a Master List (likely on tumblr/as a PDF/as a spreadsheet as well as remaining on the AO3 Collection).

Plus more lists! If we can, we may break the results down into a few more lists like "Favourite Fics Under 10,000 Words" or "Favourite Explicit Fics" etc

FAQ

🌓 Do I need to read the entirety of a fic before I add it to my favourite ten list?

Nope! But the more you can fully read, the better. The form has an option to indicate whether you've fully read a fic, just for our interests sake. If there's a fic that you think looks really up your alley, and you've read its Excerpt (and maybe a few chapters to get the feel for it), you can add it to your favourite ten list.

🌓 Do I have to kudos and/or comment?

No, it's not necessary but highly encouraged.

🌓 Do I have to submit TEN favourite fics?

No; if you only want to list 1 as a favourite fic, that is also fine, but, where's the fun in that?? We want to celebrate lots of fics!

🌓 I didn't nominate, can I vote?

Yes, even if you didn't submit nominations, we are happy to hear your favourite fics from the nominated pool of fics!

🌓 Do I have to submit them in alphabetical order?

Not necessary, but if you have time to, it might help us organise things to present them in alphabetical order later.

🌓 I missed the nomination period! Can I still nominate a fic?

Sorry, but we'll be focusing on these 79 nominated fics. However, we will soon have an "additional recommended fics" list with a simpler submission form. Those won't be eligible for voting as a favourite, but we will collect them on the blog until June (when the project wraps up).

Opt Out for Authors

At any time between March 10th to June 9th 2025, you may opt out of having your work included in the voting/the final list. Email siobhanhazel@proton.me to discuss, we will ask for some proof that you are the author (such as editing the Author's Note on the work). Voting period starts March 10th

Hello Snupin lovers! Just a note to say that more details are upcoming, the Voting Phase will be announced March 10th! Remember (as stated on the Etiquette section), the final list will have aaaall nominated fics, but the voting is just to see which float to the top as favourites amongst the people in this current little corner of Snupin fandom in 2025. It's all for fun and Snupin signalboosting 💛  And I also (eventually/soon) hope to create a simplified form called "It’s never too late to recommend a fic" which will be open until the end of this project. Basically it will be for people who missed Nomination period; the fics listed there won't be included in the main project list, but they can have a home here as well as 'other recs'.

Do you think you could extend the nomination deadline by another day (or the weekend)? I didn’t realize a small excerpt was necessary and need a little more time to skim and pick out the best parts of my reccs!

By special request, and because February is dumb and short, we're extending the Nomination deadline until 11:59 PM Monday March 3rd (UTC −12:00 timezone which is the slowest timezone) Also I discovered there might be a glitch on the Google Form when entering 10 plus fics—if you encounter this glitch (which told me I input too many words even if I deleted everything) I suggest submitting multiple forms.

Voting info for Whispers Over Wolfsbane: a collaborative Snupin Fanfic Rec project. Aiming to vote for the best of Remus/Severus fics of all time. We are currently in the Voting period! See the announcement post

📜 Voting Form

Voting period

From Mar 10, 2025 to May 10, 2025 we will have the Voting Form up so that you can tell us which of the nominated fics are your favourite!

Via Google Form (link to be provided at the beginning of the voting period)

Anonymous voting: while we will ask for your details to ensure one voting form per person, results will not include username/details

You are not obligated to vote even if you nominated

You can vote even if you didn't nominate

You must read AT LEAST 500 words of each fic before voting: organisers will present 500 word excerpts of each fic via the Bookmarked Excerpts Collection; you must declare you have read at least this much of each fic before voting.

The 500 word blurbs will be as free of triggers as possible and/or have Content Warnings posted.

List release

All of the votes will be collated and presented as one or more lists. During the voting and/or list creation phase, nominated fics will be presented in categories so that, in the end, we will get a few comprehensive rec lists . A few examples which are not set in stone: “Top Gen to Teen Audience Rated Fics Over/Under 50,000 words” or “Top Explicit Fics Over/Under 50,000 words” etc.

Nomination period BASIC rules

Minimum 1 nomination (aka fic rec) 

Maximum 25 nominations

Maximum 1 self-rec (aka a fic you wrote)

Word count: 200 minimum and no maximum

Fics must still be accessible online

Ideally, one Nomination Form per person

Do your best!

Please do your best to fill in as much as possible to reduce the load on the project volunteers, however we don’t want to slow down your excited nominations of fanfics. If the length of the form is intimidating, just fill in the essential mandatory info marked by a ★. Project volunteers reserve the right to edit any portion of your submission before posting/collating the results (i.e. suggested tags, etc).

Nomination rules/info for Whispers Over Wolfsbane: a collaborative Snupin Fanfic Rec project. Aiming to vote for the best of Remus/Severus fics of all time. Update: Nominations are closed.

— From Jan 9, 2025 to Feb 28, 2025 we welcome each person to nominate up to 25 Snupin fics. ● Anonymous nominations: your username/details will not be posted publicly as associated with the fics you nominate. ● Snupin Fics Nominated So Far - Nominated fics are posted as Bookmarked Excerpts on our AO3 Collection throughout the nomination period so people can start enjoying amazing Snupin fics as soon as possible pre-Voting period! (Also so that it isn't necessary to nominate twice. If fics are nominated twice that is fine, volunteers will merge the data for the duplicate).

Anyone welcome to participate

Anonymous nominations: while we will ask for your details on the form, posted nominations will not include username/details

You are not obligated to vote if you nominate and vice-versa: you can vote without having nominated

Ideally, one Nomination Form per person (if you really want to add a late nomination, and submit a form again, that would be fine) 

Minimum 1 and Max 25 nominations

Max 1 self-rec (by which we mean recommending your own writing)

AO3 and non-AO3 fics accepted. Locked to only AO3 users is accepted

Fics must still be accessible online; fics that have been made unavailable (by creator or otherwise) are ineligible

Must be Snupin-centric: majority of fic should be Remus/Severus.

Polyships with Snupin+other character(s) are also accepted as long as Severus & Remus get adequate ‘screen’ time

All content is allowed (i.e. “Dead Dove”, Major warnings, etc) (the Nomination Form will include a place for people who are nominating to add optional extra Content Warnings in the case that the creator tagged minimally in an attempt to create a better experience for all voters) 

All genders/sexual representations of Snupin are welcome

No AI-generated works (as far as you, the nominator, is aware)

Word count: 200 minimum and no maximum

Fics that are incomplete are also accepted (but not preferred)

If you wish to nominate an entire series, a series can be submitted by nominating Part 1 only. If you feel like highlighting only one work of a series, that is also acceptable. 

Nomination Guidelines

We would love to have a wide spread of years, viewer discretion ratings (e.g. Gen to Explicit) and word lengths!  During the voting and/or list creation phase, nominated fics will be presented in categories so that, in the end, we will get a few comprehensive rec lists (for a few examples which are not set in stone “Top Gen to Teen Audience Rated Fics Over/Under 50,000 words” or “Top Explicit Fics Over/Under 50,000 words” etc)

Whispers Over Wolfsbane: a collaborative Snupin Fanfic Rec project seeks to nominate and vote on completed fics from years gone by, with the goal of creating one or more collaborative Snupin fanfic recommendation lists. Let's rec the best of the best of Snupin! Snupin = Severus/Remus = Snape/Lupin = Wolfbat = Moonprince

Aim of the project

Create a collaborative list of top Snupin fanfics (*likely to be released as several mini lists broken down by categories) by gathering fanfic nominations (basically your recs/recommended fics) and voting. We want to highlight amazing Snupin written works from 1997 to early 2025, across various viewer discretion categories (from General Audiences to Explicit) and of various lengths (from 200 words to no maximum).  This is not:

X Not a fest/fic writing challenge. We are looking for the best of the best already written works to recommend to people. X Not a self promo list (however 1 self-rec is encouraged!)

For authors: we want this to all be in good fun! We are excited to promote a lot of amazing fics; every single nomination will get a spot somewhere on the final master list as well as some tumblr promotion and love.

Everyone's tastes in writing are super subjective, and your work not being nominated/voted for does not mean it's not a good, valuable and lovable piece of writing. It may just not be its time or flew under the radar.

For non-authors: all voting results will be posted anonymous

For authors who wish their fics removed from the project...

If you notice someone has nominated your fic but do not wish for your work to be included in the project, contact siobhanhazel@proton.me After we've done a little verification that you are indeed the author (i.e. ask you to temporarily edit the Author Note briefly to prove access to the posted work) we will remove your work from any lists : )
