I was screaming for everyone and no one and anyone
to possibly hear me anymore.”

Regarding the apparent contradiction between “fiction!=reality” and “representation matters”
Fiction can influence reality, in that real humans can use it to transmit ideas, but fiction does not create reality because humans have free will
Ex: If I write a book about a fictional Utopia and forced everyone to read it, the world will not necessarily turn into that Utopia
Similarly, representation can matter because it’s comforting and inspiring to envision a world where the heroes look like you – but “representation” still implies “a depiction” of a potential reality
Having fictional “possibility models” is important to many people who feel invisible in their society, but it still takes real-world behavior changes to fight racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, etc
In sum: representation matters AND fiction still does not directly control the real world, thank you for your time

I am a tired faerie. I’m falling asleep on a gossamer bed made from silk, moss and down. Fireflies are lighting my room with a gentle glow that warms me. I am safe.

Things I Try to Remember When I’m Nervous About Writing
1. Write what you want to read.
2. There is no problem with a story so great that it cannot be fixed in revision. Keep going.
3. If your story is as uncreative as you think it is, you wouldn’t want to write it so badly. You want to write it because there’s a unique spin on it you have never seen, and want to express. Many people may write similar stories, but it’s the details that make it personal. You may not know it now, but there is someone who is looking for exactly what you’re writing. If you don’t finish it, they’ll never see it.
4. You can write something amazing and still be met with silence. There are myriad reasons for this that have nothing to do with the quality of what you produce.
4.1 It’s okay to repeat post your work if no one has seen it.
4.2 It’s okay to post your work in multiple places.
5. You don’t have to agree with every criticism (but take it gracefully anyway).
6. Most writers are scared of the same things you are.
7. Don’t judge your works in progress against the archives of finished, polished stories other writers have put together. Archives are Internet portfolios and generally don’t show all the multitude of failures, incomplete, and draft-form works those writers are also struggling with. They aren’t perfect and you don’t have to be, either. Keep working and you will have a portfolio of your own.
8. Don’t be afraid to share your ideas with other writers. It’s not annoying as long as you’re not self-important about it. Be humble and gracious, and others will reciprocate.
8.1 You can’t write as well in a vacuum; the more people know that you are working on something, and what, the more support you will get for that work. Starting a dialogue before you post something will make it more likely people will read it when you do post it.
9. It’s okay to take breaks. If the ideas just aren’t coming, go do something else for a while.
10. Be kind to yourself. Don’t call yourself names. You are not stupid, or uncreative, or boring. You wouldn’t call other people those things, so don’t do it to yourself.
I don’t know if these are helpful to other people, but they are helpful to me, so just in case, here they are!

I'm having trouble figuring out how to write a prompt. It's essentially writing about something without actually talking about it. In other words, referencing an event, place, object, person without bringing it into the spotlight.

Creative Non-Fiction 5: turn the meaningless into meaningful
The Silent Anthem of a Generation I don’t know what started it. It seemed to pop up overnight.
At first it was only a select few were doing it. Then it appeared on in music videos and television programs. It even appeared during the presidential campaign broadcasts. When I first saw someone do it I thought it was stupid. I saw it sweep the nation like a an overly large tsunami. My friends were caught in the tide and I would just shake my head. I started seeing it in foreign TV shows with popular celebrities and it was then when I realized it wasn’t just in the United States. It was everywhere. This rally had spread across the globe. I understand now that it’s a call for unification. It’s for those that feel like an outcast. It’s for those that want to be cool. It’s for those that think it’s stupid and do it to make fun of it. It’s for everyone. We use it to send a message to the older generations:
we are one.

Creative Non-Fiction 2: Describe the opposite
Why do people drink vodka? It's not tasty or pleasantly scented. It goes down the throats harshly and makes even the toughest of people contort their face. It's not enough to sustain your body. It's not like water. Water helps you remember. Vodka helps you forget. Both purge your body of unnecessary contaminants if you drink enough. Both are clear. Both are sold in stores though one is considerably cheaper than the other and readily available. Vodka's purpose for the body is a short termed "high"- a numb, senseless feeling where anything and everything is possible. Water is treated as a bland remedy when the high is over. Vodka is the culprit. Water is the rehab. Water is vodka's best friend though they're never seen together.

i keep trying to memorize every detail of the moments i live in. in the soreness of my legs from standing so long at a concert, the chill of the night, the patterns of a tablecloth, the oily texture in my mouth after eating fried bananas. i keep trying to memorize the feelings, the quiet contentedness, the laughter, the excitement. i keep trying to memorize the people, their smiles, the way they speak, what makes them laugh. i’m constantly on the cusp of the next part of my life and that’s just so.. strange. but it makes it so much easier to find happiness no matter what’s happening to me, in a way? because i’m already kind of looking at life with those rose-colored glasses of nostalgia, simply because i know these are times i’ll never be able to live again, and these are people i might not always have, and that makes it so much easier to appreciate everything i might miss later.

Creative Non-Fiction 1: Slang
‘Sud. Swag. Yaaas. Beat your face. Feel your oats. Slay mama; werk it; strut it; sissy that walk. Eyebrows on fleek- on point. Spill the tea. Go haam. Lightweight, I’m finna bounce. 10 outta 10 would NOT recommend. Hella. Too much sauce on the roster. Bye, Felicia.
