It’s that time of year where I see lilacs blossoming everywhere and wish I had a lilac bush. Lilacs have always been my favorite spring flower as it reminds me of my Grandmothers backyard in Grace Idaho. Her fence was lined with lilac bushes and every spring it was the most exhilarating fragrance that would nearly overwhelm my senses to take it all in. Hope you all had an enjoyable Easter Sunday! The kids and I celebrated Resurrection Sunday yesterday but will be having Easter dinner and the EB visit next weekend when my hubby is home. Today marked our first official day of remote learning since spring break. The fact that today is #AprilFoolsDay wasn’t lost on me. I will say that the person who created a fake news article that our Governor was going to make all students repeat the school year is a total jerk in my opinion. NOT funny and it nearly gave my son an anxiety attack thanks. Otherwise today wasn’t horrible. Mistakes were made and I may have stressed out over the little things. I realized I was getting anxious and took some deep breaths and figured it out. Having several emails to wade through for three kids, each with several teachers sending emails got a bit overwhelming at first. Everyone survived and tomorrow is a new day. *sigh* How’s it going on your home front with remote learning? Do your kids just login to do assignments that they submit online or do they also have live classes they attend? It’s hard to feel in control when the world around us feels like it’s spinning out of control. One thing we can all do our part in is washing our hands. Here’s a little something I learned from this pandemic: 🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼🧼 I learned I’ve been washing my hands incorrectly all along! 🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠 I’ve always been vigilant about hand washing but what I did NOT know is this: We are supposed to suds up our hands and wash OUTSIDE of the water stream for 20 seconds and THEN rinse off our hands! I’ve been washing the soap off while sudsing up underneath the water stream which is WAY less effective per the CDC guidelines. Of course it’s better than not at all but still not nearly as effective. Keep on washing your hands and practice social distancing. Leave it to @brenebrown to put into words what I couldn’t. I had to take my husband to his truck this morning near Walmart so I ran in to get what my grocery order pickup didn’t include and was out of stock hoping they’d replenish this morning. I was so grateful to be able to get what I needed especially as our state has just been put on a stay home state of emergency via our governor. I got in and out as fast as I could and it was thankfully not too crowded. I noticed the mid-western friendliness I’ve grown accustomed too seem to be amiss as everyone was keeping their distance which is good but felt so cold too. Smiling doesn’t pass the virus folks. Kindness might even help heal someone’s aching heart. I swear if I start seeing TP 🧻 on Facebook marketplace I may lose it on some folks. 😆 Seriously though I truly feel terrible for folks who live paycheck to paycheck and/or have no storage space for bulk storage nor can afford to stock up. I’m all for building up a supply over time for emergencies but there is some extreme hoarding going on when you can’t even buy TP on Amazon let alone retail shelves ANYWHERE. ⠀ It’s some strange times were in right now. Can you do me a favor? Check in with your elderly and your family/friends. Please don’t go into their homes. Call, text or better yet video chat. Be a good neighbor and show kindness wherever you go. We tried to stick with the least crowded less expensive tourist spots. The zoo was amazing for a free zoo especially!
