A Page from Casanova's Memoir
Tumblr media
Casanova's memoir Histoire de ma vie is one of the most prolific memoirs of the genre. When Casanova sat down to write his memoirs, he was living in a castle in the Czech Republic and working as a librarian in his old age. His life was miserable there, and he was so depressed that he thought about ending things, but a friend convinced him to start writing his life story. So he started writing 10-12 hours a day until he banged out this memoir in only a few years. The memoir is roughly 3,500 pages long and 1.2 million words.

We're back! After a hiatus due to health and technical issues, we're finally back! M is still taking a break from making teaser videos, so I'm just going to make images to go with our Monday new episode posts.
Ep 125: The Chicken and Elephant Problem
We return triumphantly to 2025 with a listener question: how many chickens would it take to fight an elephant? First we need to decide on the chicken. Consider size. Spirit. Anger. And then we need to determine how much a group of chickens can take out. Can we fight a chicken? Can a horse? A moose? Join us for the chicken debate!
CW: Animal Death, Violence

Ep 52 | Come one, Come all: Babies
Coney island, home of the Couney incubator. Pop your baby in and watch it grow! Who would have thought the land of hot dogs and sideshows would also be the lifeline for hundreds of premature babies? We touched briefly on the baby show in a previous episode, but our curiosity could not be resisted. The technology we use today in the NICU was once a sideshow showing people the strangest thing of all: babies!
CW: Premature Birth and the Struggles of it, The Potential of Baby Death (but none actually happens), A Brief bit of Anti-Semitism

Ep 116: Stakes Are High
Time for a good ol' spooky episode! We have a listener question that delves into the vampire burial rites— how did the people in vampire times deal with the horrible and terribly common problem of the dead rising, hungry for the lifeblood of the common man?

Ep 115: Braxie the Flatwoods Monster
Down in beautiful Appalachia, we got creatures, we got features, we got aliens, we got giant glowing guys who love cars. This episode covers the FLATWOODS MONSTER, a fabled creature of much renown! Unless you're normal, I guess, and don't go down into the cryptid mines very much. A listener question from Dinah gets answered by Karen tonight and get ready— we got a dramatic reading!

Ep 51 | Juneteenth: It’s About Damn Time
Juneteenth. What is it about? Why is it important? Why is it just now becoming a holiday? The three of us explore the history, both recent and less so, that has led to the claiming of Juneteenth. The hard work of many has gone into bringing the holiday to mainstream consciousness, especially someone who would walk 1500 miles to see it signed into law.
CW: Slavery, Racism, Bigotry, Unpleasant Historic Quotes (no slurs)
You can listen to this episode wherever you listen to podcasts, and below, I'll link out resource page so you can check out our sources.

Ep 114: Leave Britney and Her Clones Alone
Have you ever thought to yourself that a celebrity doesn't look like how they used to? No? Well, some people have. Have you ever thought to yourself that a celebrity has died ten years ago and someone is masquerading as them? No? Bro people have thought that too. This episode we delve into the world of celebrity clones, thanks to a helpful question from our listener Jill! Since 2001, Britney Spears' first death, her clones have been infiltrating pop culture. Supposedly. Really. I guess. Let's analyze the people who are holding a magnifying glass and analyzing Britney!

For this week's extra content, I'm going to share a song of Britney Spear's the was supposedly not meant to ever actually be published. The story goes that Britney called KIIS-FM one day in December 2004 on a day when almost no one was there and someone named Jesse Lozano was filling in for the regular hosts. She wanted to play her new song. He obviously thought it was a prank because why would Britney just be calling him up out of the blue?
Well, an hour later, Britney showed up outside the station, according to Lozano, without any shoes on with a CD in one hand and her Chihuahua in the other. Again, she asked if she could play her new song on the air. So he said sure. It was the first and last time "Mona Lisa" would ever be played on air. This song ended up on what became her "lost album." You can find them on YouTube, leaked over the years. It's a good song, and while the lines about being a clone are, undoubtedly not actually about being a clone, they probably have a lot to do with her mental health struggle, her time living under the conservatorship, and all those other issues she's fought with over the years. Give it a listen for yourself and see what you think!
Below, you can find out resource page where you can watch the other videos we talked about on the episode, read up about the lost album, and see other resources M used for this eipsode.
