Headcanon: The Back Burner – Reader & Zack Lee (While He Likes Mira)

The Beginning
You met Zack through Mira, of course. Everyone knew Zack had been hung up on her for years. And while Mira was kind, she never quite returned his feelings. You didn’t get involved. Not at first. You just hung around the group—someone on the sidelines, there to fill the space between moments.
Zack was always friendly with you. He smiled. Teased you sometimes. Even defended you once or twice. But you could tell—his eyes always wandered back to Mira. Even when you were the one standing next to him.
---
The Slow Burn
You started to fall for him, quietly.
It wasn’t one big moment. It was in the way he helped stray animals. The way he’d cover his bruised knuckles when Mira was around like he didn’t want her to worry. The way he walked you home when it was late, keeping to your pace, never rushing.
You knew he didn’t feel the same. But it didn’t stop you from hoping, a little.
Sometimes, Zack would confide in you. Frustrated sighs, muttered words like:
> “I just don’t get why she can’t see me that way…”
And you’d smile, even though it hurt. “Maybe she’s just scared. You’re… a lot.”
He’d laugh, not catching the double meaning.
---
The Back Burner Feeling
You were always there. His text replies would come fast when Mira was the topic. But yours? Sometimes left on read. He’d ditch hangouts last-minute if she needed help with something—even if he had plans with you. And every time, you told yourself it was fine.
> Because it’s not like you’re his first choice anyway, right?
Still, he noticed you—just not the way you wanted.
He’d thank you for your support. He’d smile when you gave him a bandage. He’d say, “You’re a really good friend.”
And those words? They were daggers, wrapped in warmth.
---
The Turning Point
It was raining one night. You both sat under the gym awning, watching the storm roll by. He was quiet. Different.
“Mira… she’s dating someone else,” he finally said.
You turned to him, unsure what to say. “Are you okay?”
“I will be,” he said. “It just sucks. Holding onto something for so long.”
Your heart clenched. Yeah, you thought. I know how that feels.
Then he looked at you—really looked at you—and something shifted.
“You always listen,” he said. “Why do you do that?”
You gave a tired smile. “Because I care about you, Zack. Even if you don’t care about me the same way.”
The silence that followed was heavy. You weren’t expecting anything. You just needed to say it.
But for the first time… Zack didn’t look away.
---
What Happens Next
Whether Zack realizes his feelings or not, the weight of your honesty changes something in him. He starts seeing you—not just as a shadow behind Mira, but as your own person. Strong. Loyal. Honest.
He doesn’t know what to do with that yet. But he thinks about you more now. Wonders if maybe… he was looking the wrong direction all along.
It’s not a fairytale ending. Not yet.
But it’s the start of something new—and this time, you're not just in the background.

From First Meeting to Feelings – Zack Lee x Reader
The first meeting
It wasn’t supposed to be a big day. You were just passing by the gym after school, waiting on your drink from a nearby convenience store, when you noticed a scuffle breaking out in the alley next to it. A couple of guys were circling someone—and then him. Zack Lee.
You’d heard of him. Everyone had. The infamous fighter, always getting into trouble, always around Vasco or Mira. But in person, he was something else. Broad shoulders, intense gaze, fists clenched—but strangely calm. He moved like he knew exactly what he was doing.
When you stepped closer, unsure whether to help or run, Zack ended the fight with one swift blow that sent the last guy reeling. Then…he noticed you. Eyes narrowing just slightly.
“You saw that?” he asked, like it was a problem.
But you just nodded and said, “Yeah. And... nice form.”
He blinked. That definitely wasn’t the response he expected.
That was the first time Zack Lee felt a little off-balance around someone—not because of a fight, but because you didn’t look at him like he was a delinquent or a monster. Just a guy doing what he had to.
The second time meeting
You saw him again a few days later, sitting outside the gym, nursing a bruised knuckle with an annoyed expression. You offered him your spare bandage and a juice box from your bag without a word.
He stared at it. “Juice?”
“Apple. Best for recovery,” you said with a teasing smile.
He actually laughed. It was short, a little surprised. But he took it.
After that, it became a thing—running into each other in the most random places. A convenience store. A late-night corner when you both couldn’t sleep. A ramen shop on a rainy day.
When feelings started to creep in
Zack didn’t really get it at first. Why he started remembering your schedule. Why he’d get weirdly alert when someone else was talking to you too closely. Why he started going to that same store at the same time every day even though he didn’t need anything.
But the moment it clicked for him was simple: You were talking to Vasco, laughing, and Zack—usually cool and unbothered—found himself clenching his jaw.
“Do I… like them?” he muttered to himself later that night, lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling like it betrayed him.
And then came the realization—you weren’t afraid of him, didn’t treat him like a thug or some reckless fighter. You talked to him like he was normal. You made him feel human, even when he didn’t think he deserved that.
How he acts after that
He starts acting weird (for Zack standards). Offering to walk you home but pretending it’s “just on the way.” Giving you his hoodie when you’re cold but insisting it “smells like sweat.” He starts texting you more—awkward messages with too many ellipses, like:
> “Hey... you okay?”
“U busy?? Got extra ramen if u want…”
And every time you smile at him or touch his arm when you laugh, it completely messes with him.
Eventually, Mira notices and goes, “You like them, don’t you?”
Zack: “No—what—shut up.”
But yeah. He’s already gone for you.

**💙 Jake Kim x Y/N Headcanons – "You're My Safe Place"**
🥤 1. He Fell for You Quietly
Jake didn't even realize he was catching feelings until one day he caught himself smiling at your text mid-fight. Samuel was punching him and he just... grinned like an idiot. That’s when Big Deal started suspecting something was up.
🧢 2. Protective to the Bone
Jake is incredibly protective of you—without being controlling. If you’re walking alone, he’ll “coincidentally” show up. If someone talks down to you, his glare alone is enough to shut them up.
> "You good?"
He’ll ask it casually, but his eyes are scanning every inch of you for signs that you’re not.
☕ 3. Late Night Talks
Your best moments are when it’s just you two, sitting on a rooftop with warm drinks and city lights below. He opens up with you in a way he never does with anyone else.
> "Sometimes... I wish I could just leave all of this behind."
And you say, “Then do it. With me.”
❤️ 4. Acts of Service Love Language
Jake isn’t the type to say “I love you” easily—but he shows it. Fixes your leaky sink. Walks you home in the rain. Learns your coffee order. Fights guys who talk bad about you and pretends it was “just business.”
🧼 5. He Keeps a Toothbrush for You
He has a spare toothbrush in his place and pretends it’s for “anyone” who crashes there. But everyone knows it’s for you. Hell, he even made space in his drawer—but will die before admitting it out loud.
💢 6. Gets Jealous but Doesn’t Say Anything
When someone flirts with you, he won’t say a word—but his jaw clenches and his eyes darken. He’ll suddenly drape an arm over your shoulder or casually ask,
> "You wanna get outta here?"
Even though you just got there.
🥺 7. He Thinks He’s Not Good Enough
He’s haunted by the idea that you deserve better—someone without a dangerous life. He’d try to distance himself at first, clumsily saying,
> “I don’t wanna drag you into my mess.”
But if you insist you’re staying, he melts. You’re the only one who makes him feel like he’s worth something.
🧃 8. Your Comfort Person
When you have a bad day, Jake will drop everything to be there. He won’t push you to talk. He just hands you your favorite snack, lets you cry into his hoodie, and sits in silence until you’re ready.
> "I got you. Always."
🥋 9. Teaches You How to Defend Yourself
Jake insists on showing you some basic self-defense moves. It starts out serious, but quickly turns into playful wrestling.
You end up pinning him once, and he stares up at you like,
> “Damn. I’m in trouble.”
💬 10. The Confession
He confesses in the most Jake way possible—awkward and blunt, like ripping off a band-aid.
> “I like you, okay? I’ve liked you for a while. Just… don’t go anywhere.”

Goo Kim x Reader (Y/n)
First date head canon
You never expected him to ask you out — not Goo Kim. Not the infamous, unpredictable, smirking menace of a man who seemed to cause trouble just for fun. But he did. Casually. Like he was asking if you wanted gum.
“I’m bored. You’re interesting. Let’s go out.”
That was it. No flowers, no grand gesture. Just Goo being Goo — dangerous charm and maddening confidence wrapped in white hair and sunglasses.
You agreed. Why? You’re still not sure. Curiosity, maybe. Or the way his grin tugged at something reckless inside you.
The date starts with him picking you up in a car that’s definitely not legally his. He opens the door for you with an exaggerated bow, smirking like he’s mocking the very idea of being a gentleman. “Don’t worry, I only stole the car emotionally,” he jokes.
He takes you to a rooftop. Not a fancy restaurant, not a movie. Just a rooftop with takeout and a killer view of the city. “Why spend a fortune on bad pasta when you can eat tteokbokki and watch the world burn from above?” he says, tossing you a soda.
Despite the chaos that seems to follow him, the conversation flows. Goo’s smart — sharper than people give him credit for. He jumps from topic to topic: philosophy, fights, the weirdest dreams he’s ever had. You laugh more than you expect to, and for a second, you forget the things he’s known for. Because right now, he’s just him — raw, blunt, alive.
At one point, his usual smirk softens. Just a little. “You’re not afraid of me,” he says, like it’s a fact he’s still trying to process. You shrug. “Should I be?”
He grins, but it doesn’t reach his eyes this time. “Maybe. But I like that you’re not.”
The night ends with him walking you home. He doesn’t try to hold your hand. Doesn’t make a move. Just whistles something off-key, steps matching yours.
When you reach your door, he pauses. “This was fun,” he says, tilting his head. “You’re not boring. That’s rare. I’ll be back.”
And just like that, he turns and walks away. No kiss, no goodbye — just a wink over his shoulder and that damn smirk.
You close the door behind you, heart thudding. Because somehow, against all odds, Goo Kim made chaos feel like something you might want to keep around.

Kwak Jichang x Reader (Y/n) Head canon
When Jichang first met you, he barely said a word. Just a nod — stiff, unreadable. You figured he wasn’t interested in talking. But what you didn’t know was that he remembered your name instantly, even replayed the way you said it in his mind more than once.
He wasn’t the type to make loud declarations or flashy moves. Instead, he watched from the sidelines, always quiet, always observant. His gaze would rest on you longer than on anyone else, but only when he thought you wouldn’t notice. The one time you caught him staring, he immediately turned his head away, a faint blush climbing his ears.
You started noticing little things. A drink left on your desk after a rough day. A ripped notebook page replaced with a fresh one. The time your bag fell and someone picked it up before you even moved. He never mentioned it, but it was always him. Jichang cared through quiet gestures — never loud, never obvious.
When he was around you, something in him shifted. The tension in his shoulders eased, and he didn’t seem like he was preparing for a fight anymore. He’d lean on walls, arms folded, listening to you talk with the faintest curve on his lips. It was the only time you saw him truly relaxed, like your presence gave him a break from the world he was always bracing against.
He took his time with his feelings, slow and unsure. You were the first person to make him hesitate — not because he didn’t want you, but because he didn’t want to lose you. So when he finally spoke, it wasn’t perfect or poetic. It was during a moment of vulnerability, blood still on his knuckles from a fight he didn’t want you to see. “You make me feel like I don’t have to fight the world all the time,” he said. Just that. But it meant everything.
Though fiercely protective, Jichang never tried to control you. He let you fight your own battles, but his presence was always there, just behind you — steady, silent, and strong. He admired your strength, whether it came from your fists or your words, and made it known in the way he trusted you to handle things yourself.
He started texting you late at night. Simple things at first: “Did you eat?” “Get home safe.” Then slowly, more personal. “You looked really happy today. I liked seeing that.” You could tell every word was carefully chosen, not out of fear, but because you mattered.
And then there was the smile. The real one. Rare, quiet, and entirely yours. You said something — maybe it wasn’t even that funny — but he laughed, and the way his eyes softened made your heart stop. Because Kwak Jichang, the boy who never let anyone in, was smiling for you. Only you.

Samuel Seo x Reader (Y/N) Headcanon
At first, Samuel doesn’t take much notice of Y/N—at least, he pretends not to. He tells himself they’re just another person in the crowd. But something about them—maybe the way they speak without fear, or the quiet fire in their eyes—starts to chip away at his usual detachment.
He hates how Y/N makes him feel. Vulnerable. Curious. Human. Those are dangerous emotions for someone who’s built his whole identity around being untouchable. So naturally, he tries to push them away. Cold words. Dismissive glances. But Y/N sees through it.
When Y/N gets hurt—whether physically in a fight or emotionally by someone else—Samuel snaps. He doesn't even realize how possessive he's become until he sees red at the thought of someone else making them cry. He tells himself it’s about control. It's not.
Y/N calls him out one night. “Why do you only show you care when I’m in danger? Why can’t you just be real with me?” And for once, Samuel has no clever response. Just silence. Then, quietly: “Because being real means being weak. And I can’t afford that. Not with the life I live.”
Slowly, he starts to let Y/N in. He lets them see the cracks—his insomnia, his anxieties, the days when he looks in the mirror and feels like he’s nothing without power. Y/N doesn’t try to fix him. They just stay. And to Samuel, that’s more terrifying—and more precious—than anything.
He never says “I love you” outright. But he shows it. In how he protects Y/N from behind the scenes. In how he pulls them close after nightmares. In how his voice softens just for them. Y/N becomes the only softness in a world that taught him to be steel.
Ps: finally back after a few years!!
