i'd like to reblog this four year old post as my wife has firmly grasped onto the passed torch of "problematic psyker twink of the party". failed her first focus power test so hard that we went directly past phenomenon to perils of the warp.

we were subsequently unabducted for causing a vessel-wide fear 2 test! did it so bad it went better than could be hoped for!

if anyone ever feels bad about their introduction to ttrpgs just know i finally got off GM duty for once and IMMEDIATELY, as my first action, failed every roll to do my job and almost managed a tpk with a collateral death toll of 60,000 people.

its silly because i can cry and laugh about them almost in the same sentence. wife reminded me that she met the idiot wheezing boy in the middle of the night on one of her first visits to this state, but it happened in the most ridiculous way possible.

i used to hole up in a tiny room off the porch to draw all night and she was sitting with me, just chatting and watching, when there was this loud donk on the glass of the pitch black window right beside me. Then another more insistent donk from the void.

i did not react, except to wordlessly start to crank the window open, because this was normal in my head. when she was a little alarmed about it i think i just said "oh, its fine, it's just toni"

toni could have been anything from a raccoon to a sleep paralysis demon for all she knew at that point as i continued to open the window with zero comprehension for her reasonable doubts

luckily the only thing that came in was not some eldritch horror but just an extremely round cat who looked once, then flumped over her feet and started up his 'i have a deviated septum and whistle-chirp' purring immediately. i dont think he moved until morning

he was so docile and sweet and stupid and almost fell asleep in his water dish today while making a show of taking the tiniest little sips before turning back to us 🥲

update to this: i did get baldur's gate, made rhys' dnd version (drow sorcerer)

he's failed every arcana check since the beginning and never missed on a strength or dex check including lockpicking. he's a wild magic sorcerer. he turned into an actual sheep during the first big fight.

lae'zel confessed to wanting to lay him out like a piece of drow jerky while both of them were covered in spider guts and he was alive on temporary hp from her rally lmao. she also tried to kill him later that night. he barely convinced her not to because astarion killed him the night before and he had a penalty on every roll.

its going great.

cast your opinions gamers do i pay the $45 (painful, for my '$20 is expensive, $5 is more like it' self) for BG3 finally or do i cannibalize veilguard's poor looted corpse for that 50% discount.

note that you all know ive played DA and am so so normal about it, but i also very much enjoyed dos2 and was the now forgotten person in my friend groups shilling for larian when bg3 was in early access like "i think you can trust them, really".
