Happy Halloween! One day late due to technical issues, but still--

As I mentioned before, I'm playing Legends: Arceus, and I got an idea (tm) that fit surprisingly well.

The bottom-line is: Cyndaquil for Hijikata, Rowlet for Souma and Oshawott for Kazama. Their arrival in Ezo/Hisui also signals a change in their character, which is reflected in the final evolution of their Pokémon.

Hisuian Typhlosion is said to purify lost, forsaken souls with its flames and guide them to the afterlife, and is gentler than it's Johtonian counterpart. I thought it fit with Hijikata being a guide for those who cling to the ideals of a warrior, and still want to fight (dixit Saitou). So, who wanders the icy field of Ezo, easing the sorrows of those who know the end is coming?

Also, Typhlosion is my favourite Pokémon and it's purple.

Okay, so about that Haku OC…

Her name is Nousei Katsu (her demon name, as of right now, is Echia—I have a thing for meaningful names). Her design inspiration is Okita from Fate/Grand Order and her non-demon name is a nod to an XIV character of mine. She was born to a human father and demon mother from the Shishikui clan, which is an offshoot of the Nagumo clan. She has twin half-brothers from another father, Chifumi and Chihiyo. Her mother manipulated her into killing humans when she was a teenager, since they were a “lesser race” and her part human heritage “tainted her”.

She eventually revolted against her mother’s mistreatment and, tied up to a tree with demonic magic, was left for dead. Chihiyo found her and saved her life, but she still has the neck scars, which she hides with a scarf. The damage makes her voice a bit raspy, so she doesn’t really sound like a girl. She and Chihiyo eventually travel to Kyoto, where she takes a new name, and alongside him, joins the Shinsengumi disguised as a man. She wears body armor like ⬇️ to hide her body.

Okita finds out pretty quick that she’s a woman and is about to kill her, but stops when he sees her indifference. He then, seeing some of himself in her, decided to keep her secret. They slowly fall in love with each other, but are both oblivious for a while. They, much later, set out to kill Katsu’s mother.

Now that I finished subbing Shinkai Hijikata hen, I wanted to draw a small celebration picture. I picked the final moment of the curtain call, since I think it's really cute and it really is the "end".

(Although it's not the end for me, because there's still a lot more I wish to use it as inspiration for!)
