✨Yes/No Tarot tips✨
Tumblr media
Here are some ideas to help you answer those pesky Yes/No questions using Tarot. These are just ways that I’ve found work for me and Yes/No card interpretations that have always given me the answers I seek. Sometimes, this varies from reader to reader, so use this as a springboard to find out what works for you!
If you pull a Yes card in reverse, it could indicate a “Yes, BUT…” or a “Yes, IF…”. You’ll need to understand what each card means in reverse to determine the caveat for a reversed Yes card.
Pay attention to the positive meanings for each No card. Sometimes, things aren’t as clear cut as a simple No. Sometimes, it becomes a “No, but…” and gives you clues about how you can change your No into a Yes.
If you pull a Maybe card, you can often get a feel for your options either way by drawing additional cards to go on either side. For example: Two of Swords is a Maybe card and often represents a difficult choice between two options. You can draw two cards to set on either side of this card that represent the two choices and their pros and cons.
YES
Major Arcana: Fool, Magician, High Priestess, Emperor, Empress, Lovers, Chariot, Strength, Hermit, Star, Sun, Judgement, World
Cups: Ace, two, three, six, nine, ten, page, knight, queen, king
Pentacles: Ace, three, six, eight, nine, ten, page, knight, queen, king
Swords: Ace, page, knight
Wands: Ace, two, three, four, six, eight, page, knight, queen, king
NO
Major Arcana: Death, Devil, Tower, Moon
Cups: Five, eight
Pentacles: Four, five
Swords: Three, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten
Wands: Five, seven, ten
MAYBE
Major Arcana: Hierophant, Justice, Hanged Man, Wheel of Fortune, Temperance
Cups: Four, seven
Pentacles: Two, seven
Swords: Two, four, queen, king
Wands: Nine

I had no idea this was a thing and I am American. It’s not that we don’t give a damn, it’s that WE DIDN’T KNOW!! This literally effects all of us, not just the EU, we might lose everything we find enjoyable and inhibit creators of all kinds! Please do something about this!
Article 13 has been approved by EU. It’s worse than Net Neutrality has ever been. I don’t even know if we will have any access to Tumblr, Pinterest, Ao3 or even Instagram. Memes are probably dead, just like reactions, fanfictions and gifsets. Everyone in EU is in danger that they will not have access to their favorite sites. But I haven’t seen a SINGLE post about it on my dash because Americans doesn’t give a damn.

Spell Record Worksheet
For people who want to record their spells in a grimoire or elsewhere and enjoy having an outline like I do. This is designed to make it as easy as possible to look back and see what elements may have effected the outcome for better or worse.
✒️Name of Spell: Self-explanatory. ✒️Intent: What do you want to gain from this? What’s the goal? ✒️Time Cast: Date, day of week, moon phase, etc. ✒️Ingredients/Materials Used: Consider adding their relevant correspondences or WHY you chose them in particular. ✒️Actions: What did you do? What did you say? ✒️Notes: Did anything strange or interesting happen while casting? Relevant music come on? Were you interrupted? Are the candles acting weird? Make note. ✒️Outcome: Follow up with the results! Did it work in the way you expected, or do you need to tie up loopholes next time? If it didn’t work, what elements of the spell could be improved?

I met a guy who practices witchcraft at my job. I had brought one of my tarot decks to work to show two very good friends of mine because they were very interested in learning about tarot and this guy suggested we start a coven. At first, I was like, he seems like he knows a lot and I could learn from him, so I decided I’d talk to him a bit and see for myself what he knows before I jumped into this idea.
Here are the things he tried to convince me and my friend. I am only glad that I have read up on a bit of Witchcraft to educate my friend from going down the wrong path (and him too, hopefully, if he listened).
He told me and my friend (who is just getting into the craft) that we have to be Wicca and follow the Wiccan Rede - in which I responded, “Actually, I’m atheist and I do not wish to practice any religion and anyone can practice witchcraft without being in a religion.
When I told him that I just have a hard time finding someone that I feel connected to, which is why I am an atheist, he told me I’d find my spirit animal and a deity to worship if I looked for them.
(first of all....we’re both white - using a “spirit animal” is cultural appropriation from what I understand. And again, forcing me to worship something or someone, not okay)
He told us that we shouldn’t do any curses, hexes, or jinxes because they’d come back to us 3-fold (yes, true) but that was considered dark/black magic and our “coven” shouldn’t be associated with those
(uh...don’t tell me what I can and cannot practice?) also only an hour after he’d said this, he came back around to say that he’d be studying “dark magic”
He also told me that we could only have 4 people in our “coven” that he decided we’d create. 1 warlock and 3 witches and refused to allow me to talk about it with a friend of mine who actually expressed interest in witchcraft multiple times before with me. His reasoning was because he didn’t think she was serious enough about witchcraft.
oh and you can have as many witches in your little coven as you want? I’m pretty sure the ratio to boys and girls is not that important
plus starting a coven when you don’t know shit about witchcraft, also a bad idea.
(Another weird thing about this is - I’m pretty sure that witches can be both male and female and male witches are not called warlocks, but I think this may be a matter of opinion? Maybe it is not, I am not sure so do not @ me.)
***I also got some really bad vibes from him, he just made me feel very uncomfortable, like I shouldn’t associate with him. Don’t do things with people if they make you feel uncomfortable and give you bad vibes. ***
Witchcraft isn’t a religion - you’re all making it into this weird culty thing and Tumblr has turned it into something stale and conformed
Wiccan and witch are not synonymous - there are witches of all religions
There’s not a right or wrong way to practice - do whatever feels right in every situation
You don’t need to believe in any gods, worship anything at all, have crystals or buy things from Instagram witch shops (most of the time they’re just capitalists anyway)
You don’t need to declare what specific type of witch you are - you can strive to be balanced
You create your own rules no matter what - it’s a deeply personalized way of life or thought process to each culture and each person
if someone tries to dictate how you do what you do, they’re gatekeeping pricks and should be throat slapped
Be true to yourself - this is only about harnessing your own strength and emotions and figuring out what parts you play in the world, not about an aesthetic or a fashion or trying to be the best witchling for other people’s admiration
Try to have fun and stop taking it so seriously, you uptight nerds

So yet another admin of a Facebook group has decided that copyright doesn’t apply to them; a particular group has over 2000 pdfs of pagan books, including a LOT that are still under copyright. I mean, for pity’s sake, some of them even have “no-drm” in the file name, denoting that someone originally knew that book had digital rights management software attached to it, which means DON’T STEAL IT. My publisher for my books that are affects is already dealing with the DMCA takedowns, so I am here being unhappy that in 2017 this sort of thing is still happening.
Let me tell you something: when I write a book, I put literally hundreds of hours of my time into writing, editing and research, and that’s before the manuscript even goes to the publisher. If I’m self-publishing, I put in even more time with re-editing, proofreading, layout and interior design, book cover layout and design, file preparation, marketing and promotion and, of course, direct sales. The Tarot of Bones deck and book? Easily has a four-digit number of hours attached to it, and still counting since I am the sole distributor and marketer for it.
And unless I’m fortunate enough to get an advance from a publisher or have a successful crowdfunding campaign for a self-published project, I’m doing all this up-front work unpaid. Once I do get paid, tallying up the royalties and the income against the expenses? I’m not even making minimum wage. We authors have to play the long game, hoping that our books stay in print long enough to keep selling enough copies to maybe break even. I don’t know of a single pagan author who makes a living solely on book sales. Everyone has either a side hustle or a day job–or both.
Just because you legitimately bought a copy of the book doesn’t entitle you to ignore copyright. People who pirate have this idea that sharing ebooks is exactly the same as loaning a hardcopy version to a friend, or making photocopies of a few pages and giving them to a handful of students. Wake-up call, chum: sharing ebooks is not the same as passing a paperback around your coven. It can take months for that one paperback to work its way around thirteen people (longer if one of them “just needs a little more time, honestly!”) An ebook posted in a Facebook group, on the other hand, is going to hundreds, if not thousands, of people who can access it instantly.
It’s also not the same as getting a book from a library. Your average library book is only going to get checked out a dozen or so times a year, maybe a little more or less. Again, this is nowhere near the same as sending the PDF to thousands of people at once. Nor is that PDF the same as someone buying a secondhand copy at a thrift store; again, it can only go so far, so quickly. Sure, maybe a few of those people who read the pirated PDF might buy a new copy of the book, but the vast majority won’t. I’ve had my books pirated before, and if those people were all buying paperbacks from me I’d have a hell of a lot more money.
If I wanted people to be able to have access to a work that I put hundreds of hours of effort into free of charge, I would have released it into the wild myself, not chosen to enter it into an arrangement where I get an agreed-upon amount of compensation for it. So when some entitled individual decides that they have the right to ignore copyright and post entire PDFs online without my and/or the publisher’s permission, you know what that person is saying?
They’re saying that copyright doesn’t apply to them. They’re saying they are above the law. Sorry, but there is no way to legally justify sharing the ENTIRE book without permission. Fair use applies to a few hundred words, that’s it. “Educational use” is only within certain educational establishments, and again is piece and part, not the whole damned thing. Sharing a bunch of PDFs to random strangers on Facebook? Sorry, your educational defense doesn’t work.
They’re saying that I don’t deserve to decide how I will disseminate the book that I put hundreds of hours of work into. They’re saying “Fuck you, I don’t care what you want, and I don’t care how much work you put into this, because what I want is more important.” They ignore my choice to go through a publisher or to self-publish or to otherwise decide how to share what I’ve created.
They’re saying they don’t think my work is worth what I say it’s worth. When you give away an ebook of my work for free to thousands of people without permission, you are ignoring the price that I or my publisher put on that work. Again, few people who read the free version will actually buy the book after because they’re already got what they want, and all of that is lost potential customers. Which also means…
They’re saying that they don’t care whether I can afford to keep writing or not. As I said, I don’t make that much money off my books, certainly not enough to pay all my bills. A good month is one in which sales might pay one or two bills, or buy me some groceries. I have to do a lot of other things to make sure I can stay afloat. And at this level, the loss in revenue from lost book sales due to pirating hurts. Any pagan business owner, whether author or artist or shop owner, can tell you that the margin between paying the bills and not is pretty damned slim, so whether it’s piracy or shoplifting, theft makes it harder to get through each month.
They’re saying they’re entitled to my work. If you don’t respect my ability to be compensated for my work, but you think you should have access to it no matter what, you’re being entitled as all fuck. You wouldn’t expect your mechanic or your accountant or yourself to work free of charge. But somehow authors and other creatives are expected to create for free, and when we complain about theft we’re told we’re the ones in the wrong.
The sad thing is, there are people who will still feel that they have every justification for pirating books, whether pagan or otherwise. They’ll come up with excuses as to why they should be the exception. And they’ll keep wallowing in their ignorance and entitlement.
So as a way to counter that just a little, here’s my little bread and butter speech:
Consider supporting this self-employed author and artist by buying my books, or checking out my Etsy shop, or purchasing the Tarot of Bones! You can also get exclusive content, art in the mail, and more by being my Patron on Patreon! Thank you :)

Firstly, I love your blog, second, I have some questions about tarot since I got my deck yesterday and haven't had time to get to know the in and out of working with tarot. I am always looking at papers that tell what a certain card means, and I feel like I'm being way to logical about it.... Do you have any advice for me? Thanks:)
Hello love!
Get to know your deck. Stop with the spreads. Stop with the shuffling. And stop with your interpretations as it is not you who holds the wisdom being sought, you merely are the messenger.
Your thinking “this bish is rude” and I agree. I was pretty demanding right there…. But I need to stress how important the fact is the power is the force or synchronicity or whatever you believe BEHIND THE CARDS. your phalanges are simply the tools we use to reveal such things.
Ask yourself: why did I choose this deck? Ponder each reason you picked it for even if it was just a financial decision.
Look at the cards — they tell stories that aren’t included in the papers but are visible to the searching eye that dares to depict the pictures. What’s the mood of this card? What color scheme is there. Are the numbers Roman numeral or normal. Is numerology being used here ? If so, where and how and why?
Question everything. Even who or what it reminds you of. Especially that actually. Have a bond due to beautiful detail with this deck.
Meditate holding certain cards and note what visuals or what not showed itself to you. I could go on… ask away and I will!
Hope this helps love ! You have got this ! Sending magical vibes yo way !

Candles: Color and Purpose
Tumblr media
Candles are seen as the most powerful object for witches. If one lights a candle while reciting a chant or prayer for enlightenment, empowerment, and good health is one way to use a candle. One can also ward off negative energy and impart positive energy into one’s life using a candle also.
Historical Uses
Birthdays were the first ritual with candles used. Many believe the practice of wishing and blowing out the candle brought this wish to the gods who would grant it via the smoke.
Candles represent earth (wax), air (smoke), water (melted wax), and fire (flaming wick).
Magical Uses
Always be in the right frame of mind, or the spell will create an opposite effect intended
Allow candle to burn down on its own for most rituals
When the candle has extinguished itself, the spell will be complete
Some rituals and spells may ask for the candle to be extinguished and then re-lit the next day
Never leave a candle unattended
Give decent amounts of time for the candle to burn
Choosing a Candle
Magickally disinfecting your candles before using them is very important, since the energy from those who shipped it may linger on the wax. It is good to make your own candles from scratch for this reason also.
Avoid dipped candles such as white candles dipped into colored wax. Try to find ones solid color throughout
Cleansing Your Candle
Depending upon your preference, you can do a few things to cleanse your candle, such as leaving it outside for a week in the garden to soak up the moon’s rays at night.
For a less time-consuming cleansing, you may anoint your candle, using water and oils prior to the spell or ritual:
Wipe clean with a paper towel, removing all dirt
Prepare a solution of spring water, one teaspoon of sea salt, and warm until the salt dissolves. Allow to cool, and then pour back into the bottle. Keep this in the refrigerator for about a month for use over time.
Intent. Stand in front of your sink, hold the candle in your left hand (nearer to your heart). Be very careful not to wet the wick, and pour a small amount of the sea salt spring water solution over the candle. If using a tea-light candle for quick burn time, remove the candle from its casing before cleansing with the water. Take a fresh paper towel and dry the candle very well and say the following: “This magickal water cleanses thee, with good intent and purity” (Robbins and Bedell, 2017).
Inscribe the candle with a small, sharp knife or thick needle, and scratch your full name and your wish into the wax. It is not important that it be legible, nor the location where inscribed. The words will clout the spell more as the candle burns down.
To anoint your candle, pour some pure vegetable oil into a bowl. This oil is used for most anointing, but if using a spell for health and well-being, you may mix in a few drops of other oils if you wish. Lavender is common for health and well-being spells and will make the magick more intense. Hold the candle in your left hand again and dip the first finger of your right hand into the oil and run it down the candle from top to bottom in a line. If anointing a tea-light, place it back in its casing, dip your finger into the oil, and smear it in a clockwork motion around the top of the candle wax. Say this invocation: “This magickal oil anoints thee, with all things good, magickally” (Robbins and Bedell, 2017). The candle is now cleansed, charged, and ready to be placed in a suitable holder in preparation for the spell you choose.
Rhyming and repetition can help add punch to a spell. A lot of ancient and prewritten spells will rhyme with a poetic fluidity. Repeating the spell will give power to the message each time. The most magickal numbers that represent completion are 7, 9, and 12.
To end the spell, you will need to close the ritual. Choose one of the phrases such as “and so it is” or “the spell is cast” or “so mote it be” before looking upward and saying “thank you.”
Colorful Uses
The correct color is the most important thing with candle use
Some spells are exact to the color needed, and others more flexible

Sabbat Altar and Celebration Ideas for the Solitary Witch
YULE Altar ideas: Put mistletoe and pine on your altar; put a candle up there to represent the Sun; keep your Yule log on your altar; use symbols of the Sun; decorate with red, green, white, blue, and yellow (red and green for holly, white and blue for snow and wintery colors, yellow for the Sun). Celebration ideas: Kiss a consenting person under the mistletoe for luck; give gifts; have a feast; make magickal wreaths with herbs corresponding to the spell intent (you might use lilac, lavender, and camomile for a wreath that brings peace into your home).
IMBOLC Altar ideas: Use candles to represent the return of spring; make a cute little corn dolly; put a Brigid’s cross on there to honor her; decorate with yellow and green to represent the Sun and return of spring. Celebration ideas: Clean your house; have a self-dedication ritual (to a particular path, deity, philosophy, standard of life, etc.); clean off your working altar and redo it; cleanse and charge any tools or crystals you need to.
OSTARA Altar ideas: Use fake eggs, rabbits, and other symbols of fertility or spring; put some potted plants on the altar; place some packets of seeds you might be planning on growing; decorate with purple, yellow, green, white, and other spring, pastel colors. Celebration ideas: Paint and blow eggs (take proper precautions when handling raw eggs, obviously, especially if you’re putting your mouth on them); if you have a greenhouse, want a potted plant, or it’s warm enough where you live to plant outside, plant some seeds; buy a potted plant; organize your herb shelf.
BELTAINE Altar ideas: Make a mini Maypole for your centerpiece; smack some candles up in there, especially beeswax, if that’s in your budget; put some faery symbols, like little statues or bells or something like that; a jar of honey or some beeswax is always dope; if you’re comfortable with it, some people like to put representations of genatalia on their altar. Celebration ideas: Light an awesome bonfire (also be very cautious with this because fire can quickly turn dangerous); leave offerings to the faeries; have a dance outside; this is a good time to plan to have a handfasting ceremony or wedding; cast any love workings you’ve been meaning to do; if you’re an adult and have a person/people who consent to it, you could choose to have sex during this time (but do be safe!); many people try to conceive children during Beltaine.
LITHA Altar ideas: Symbols of the Sun and the Moon, feminine and masculine symbols if that’s a thing in your tradition; decorate with black and white to symbolize the night and day. Celebration ideas: Get up before the Sun rises and go to sleep after it sets, so you can experience the day and night; have a bonfire (again, safety is important); have a picnic; just spend a lot of time outside.
LUGHNASADH Altar ideas: Put bread and grain on the altar; maybe some apples and other autumn fruits; pinecones and leaves are fall symbols; decorate with red, orange, yellow, brown, and other colors of the season. Celebration ideas: Bake (especially make the cute little bread men); give an offering to the Earth; go to an apple orchard and pick some apples; share a feast with the family or your friends.
MABON Altar ideas: Wine, or grape juice if alcohol is unavailable for any reason; leaves and pinecones; apples; a money jar (see first celebration suggestion below). Celebration ideas: For a week or two before Mabon, put money you can afford to give up in a jar, and donate it to charity or a cause you support on Mabon; have another apple harvest; have another feast; do a ritual to honor the Earth.
SAMHAIN Altar ideas: Pop a few gourds in there, more apples if you want; pictures of the deceased; tools for divination and spirit contact; decorate with black, white, and orange. Celebration ideas: Divination, spirit communication (obviously only if you know what you’re doing); hold a seance or a dumb supper if that’s more comfortable for you; light a candle in the window for spirits (use a fake one if you want it lit all night); leave some milk and honey for the Fair Folk; give offerings to the dead; put up wards and shields if you’re one of the people who would prefer to avoid spirit activity.

What to do if witchcraft suddenly gets way too intense
1. FINISH WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
► DO NOT walk away from an uncompleted ritual
► DO NOT walk away in the middle of a spell
Grab your notes and close everything down. Dismiss any spirits or entities you are working with. Close down the circle. End the ritual. Diffuse the energy of the spell and close it down. If you were enchanting an item, announce over it that it is closed and nothing more may come in or out.
Spells and rituals are little portals of power; if you leave one open without closing it, all sorts of things could get screwy and come through.
2. End any spooky/witchy atmosphere immediately.
Blow out all the candles.
Put out all the incense.
Turn on all the lights.
Turn off spooky chanting music. Turn on some happy music or better yet, a non-supernatural television show or movie you love.
If you were enchanting an item, immediately put it in salt.
3. Don’t destroy the items/notes you will need later.
Trust me, do not throw away the spell you wrote or the objects you were working on. If things go wrong in the future you will need these to fix the problem.
► Immediately write down exactly what happened. Write down every deviation from the spell that you did. Write down exactly what you said and saw during any visualizations. Write down exactly when things started to get freaky.
► If you were enchanting an item, keep it in a black bag filled with salt until you are ready to deal with it.
4. Cleanse.
Use an energy cannonball to purify the space you were working in. Burn rosemary and bay leaves to fumigate the area, or spritz a premade water solution if you can’t have smoke. Pay special attention to all ritual tools.
If you feel the need to, cleanse yourself by visualizing the power of the smoke enveloping you and driving away any bad vibes; or take a shower if you really feel something has gone wrong.
5. Get out of the area you were working in.
Go to another room. Leave the house if possible. Seek the company of others or turn on the television if you are alone.
6. Do mundane things for a while.
Eat a nice meal. Drink a big glass of water. Go for a jog. Do some chores. Put anything magical totally out of your head. Absolutely do not focus on how weird things just got.
7. When you are ready, return to the area you were working in.
Relax yourself and judge the energies within the room. Are things still ‘creepy’? A heavy-duty cleansing is in order. Do you feel as if someone else is there? Open a window and command it to leave - if it does not, more fumigation or a banishing is required.
Judge your ritual tools and determine if they will need additional cleansing. If you were working on an object, determine if it has been corrupted or if anything is wrong with it. If so, put it back in the salt and deal with it as soon as you can.
8. Take a break from witchcraft for a couple of days.
9. Figure out what went wrong.
Fear is never a good thing. There is a difference between embracing the darkness and being afraid.
► Fear can be caused if an entity showed up you were unprepared to deal with.
► Fear can be caused if your intuition (or perhaps a spirit ally) was warning you that what you were about to do was a really bad idea.
► Fear can be caused if you tap in to powers that overwhelm you.
You need to figure out what went wrong. It isn’t a situation where you can say “oh well” and try something else later - because you screwed up, and next time you may not get an adequate warning before things go to hell.

🐙 Crystals for Animals! 🐙
Tumblr media
I’ve compiled this list of crystals by animal type. These stones can be used to represent the energy of that animal type, or to heal an animal of that type. This is all based on my own intuition and what I’ve read about these gems.
These crystals can help heal your pets physically, mentally, and spiritually, but don’t use them as a substitute for a real vet! And don’t let your babies consume parts of the crystals at all!
Tumblr media
Mammals
(cats, dogs, horses, smaller creatures like mice and hamsters)
Black Tourmaline
Brown Jasper
Carnelian
Crazy Lace Agate
Moldavite

Note
Hi. I want to start practicing witchcraft. I'm not religious, but I'm spiritual. I'm interested in crystals I think. Think you can guide/help me out a bit? or ask anyone to reblog this with a basic guide to start practicing? there's just so much information and i don't know where to begin. thanks so much!
hey! we’ve got a whole section of crystal witches, many of which have dedicated tags for things on crystals and beginner witchery. I definitely recommend looking around for yourself, but here are some pages to get you started:
QuietWitchcraft’s “baby witch” tag
Witchy-Woman’s “beginner” tag
Lunaesteria’s “beginner” tag
“beginner witchcraft” search on tumblr
BasicWitchyThings’ “crystals” tag
QuietWitchcraft’s “crystals” tag
Witchy-Woman’s “crystals” tag
A lot of witches on tumblr don’t want to be bothered with “i’m a new witch, can you help me?” asks because they get so many of them and it seems like everyone and their mother has a “beginner” tag, so if you find a blog you like, look for their “beginner” or “baby witch” tag, and if you have any more specific questions (that can’t be answered with google) ask them.
for example: “You posted a picture of your quartz collection earlier. What should i look for in a good piece of quartz?” or “I’m feeling drawn to citrine. Have you ever worked with it? Can you offer any tips?”
These types of questions are more personal, and could help you, as a beginner, to get a better feel for your craft.
There are also a bunch of websites for crystal associations, but I tend to stick to witchipedia and shamanscrystal. After practicing for a while, you’ll begin to develop your own associations for things based on experience, which is when you’d want to start using a grimoire. You can keep this online in a google doc or word doc, or in a physical notebook, but these are helpful in the initial research stage of witchery (to keep everything in one place) or later witchery (when you’ve developed your own ideas and thoughts).
Otherwise, in the beginning, google and wikipedia can be your best friends in figuring out what’s what, and there are some youtube videos that you can find by just searching “witchcraft” in your search bar. (you might have to sift through some “witchcraft is ruining our children” videos, but a lot of the actual witchcraft videos will give you a better idea of how they practice)
Also! Have fun with this! don’t get brought down by people who gatekeep or are just rude about how they practice! know that just because one person practices in a certain way doesn’t mean you have to practice like that! I hope this was helpful!
