reasons i haven’t replied back:
- i’m socially exhausted - i don’t have the time right now - i don’t know how to reply - i have a bad memory and got distracted - i’m having a depressive episode and don’t have the energy to socialise
not reasons i haven’t replied back:
- i’m ignoring you just because - i hate you - i’m fed up with you - i don’t want to be your friend anymore

“There’s never any lost time. If I work on something and I’m not happy with it, and then I go back into it and destroy or rework it, all that time was just building up material. For me that’s very much how I try to think about my own life, too. There’s never any time lost. Even something you might think of as a mistake or as a failure is really just you collecting material or information that could be rearranged or re-applied differently to get a successful outcome.”

HELP A SOLO MOM AND HER BABY!
Pietra is always asking me for help and this is the only way I can help her!
She’s a single mom from Brazil, she’s unemployed. The pandemic has worsened Brazil’s hunger crisis, increasing the rolls of the unemployed and the homeless. She has been applying for jobs everyday but it’s really hard. She needs FOOD, her family needs to eat.
PLEASE, DONATE TO HER! and please, share too. Even $5 is a lot for her.

I think something that's really hard for Asian americans to reconcile with is the fact that we are oppressed in America because of US imperialism and war. It's so much easier for Asian Americans to talk about people disliking our food, not meeting eurocentric beauty standards, being a "perpetual foreigner"-- than the concrete, unavoidable fact, that the US military has killed us indiscriminately for the past two hundred years. So many Asian countries have been bombed, invaded, colonized, by the United States military.
Think about the colonization of the Philippines by the United States military (after promising to give sovereignty back after Spanish colonization). Think about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Think about the THOUSANDS of bombs dropped on Korea, which destroyed almost every single city and town in North Korea. Think about the Vietnam war, where the United States bombed and killed thousands of people out of fear of communism. Think about Cambodia and Laos, who are still affected because of the bombs that the United States decided to drop on them out of laziness. Laos is literally the most bombed country in the entire world-- how many Americans know that? How many American's know any of this?
If we were really white, they never would've bombed us the way they did. It was never a question that the United States would've dropped the atomic bombs on Germany instead-- the United States views Asian people as nameless masses. We are not real people to them.
This isn't even getting into what happened in South Asia, in the splitting of India and Pakistan, and the repression of Kashmir, all because the British Empire got lazy and had a few white men split up an entire subcontinent. Trillions of dollars were extorted from the Indian subcontinent by the British empire!! Now south Asian people are suffering under covid, because their resources were stolen from them over the course of hundreds of years.
In the United States, hate crimes against Asian people directly relate to US imperialism abroad. Japanese American's were put in camps because of the US military, and fear of them attacking white Americans. The murder of Vincent Chin happened because he was mistaken as Vietnamese at the height of the Vietnam war. Today, "Asian hate" is directly because of sinophobia. Every single day, the American and British state media churns out articles and videos about how evil China and North Korea is-- no wonder why our elders are being killed on the street.

a gentle reminder to avoid donating to the red cross and other profiteer organizations if you plan to help those affected by hurricane ida … find smaller/local charities, direct aid funds or organizations that have a “boots on the ground” approach. here’s a great starter list:
world central kitchen
second harvest food bank
the cajun navy ( call 504-517-6289 if you live in louisiana and need rescue )
covenant house
catholic charities of america ( text RELIEF to 797979 )
