I live for weekend mornings! The slow start of the day...the (usually) only two days of the week that we’re not rushing out the door. I like to use this time to read or work in my journal/planner and drink tea. It’s my bit of mindfulness after a week of craziness, routines, and all the happenings of being a parent to a young child....and I absolutely need it! Lol! I’ve learned as I’ve aged that I require all sorts of checks and balances to keep me happy and smooth sailing. One of them is creating- whether its journaling,sewing, and knitting or tennis. When either of these are missing from my day to day, I really notice a difference in my well being. It took me a long 44 years to realize that! And now that I know that I try to take time out for myself...because it really does make a difference. Happy (pre) Valentine’s Day! ❤️😊We made surprise balls for Miss E’s class this year! I have been wanting to make these for quite some time and finally decided to do it. A peek into the insanity that is my bullet journal currently...lol! I’m using a Leuchtturm 1917 nowadays, but really miss using a Hobonichi. I would also like to test out the Kokuyo Jibun Techo- which I also believe uses Tomoe River Paper as well. Has anyone tried that yet? We are still here! I’ve had to take quite a studio break these past few months due to ongoing health issues within our little family, but I think I’m ready to get back in to the swing of things now that we seem to be on the up and up! Not only did we have health issues, but then we got hammered with the flu right before Christmas! I am just now (over a month later) starting to feel like my normal self (whatever that is! Lol). Boy was it brutal...but I’m excited to get back to my sewing machine (& my sanity😉) During all this, I’ve been practicing knitting tiny articles of clothing for the animals and hope to add a few change of clothes with each set. RIP sweet Otto boy. Two days ago, our handsome loving boy left us for his next journey. This is one of my favorite pictures of him and Miss E, who at the time was recovering from a horrible bout of norovirus. Ever the nurse, he never left her side. He always worried when she was sick and also through her debilitating migraines. He was the best dog I have ever had the pleasure of living with in my entire life. Always so loving and faithful to his family. He sold me on the Boxer breed (I’d always been a Boston gal prior) and was forever amazed at what an intelligent and yet hilarious dog he was. There will never be another like him...he was truly my heart dog. Although, he wasn’t with us for as nearly as long as I hoped, I cherish the times we had and am so grateful for the almost six years we had together. We love you, Ottsie. My poor sweet guy.....he’s been hanging in there with Dilated Cardiomyopathy for a little over a year now and I think this awful disease is finally running its course. We’ve recently tried switching his meds, but his poor loving heart is getting larger. I am so crushed that there isn’t more we can do for him- he’s always been the smooshy-faced piece of the puzzle that has made our little family feel complete over the past almost 6 years. I started my first bullet journal before we left for the shore! I have to say I’m loving it! I usually use a Hobonichi planner (which I still adore- the Tomoe River Paper is amazing), but I’m diggin the flexibility of the bullet journal. For this I’ve used the Leuchtturm 1917 bullet journal format. This is my future log (I had to add sewing doodles of course!) I did add some Boston Washi tape (swoon!!) to cover up some dates that I’d like to keep private for the photo, but you can go wild with tapes or stickers or whatever floats yer boat! I’ve also added some Doodle-A-Day pages as I want to make sure I draw a little something each day of the month! So much fun. As a journal/planner/sketchbook nerd ...ok maybe just all art supplies in general nerd 🤓 ...this format feeds into that and I think will work for me surprisingly well! I’m still here! 😊 We’ve just been enjoying the first full week of no school 🙌 which means tennis and plenty of visits to the pool! I decided this summer to work on some projects just for me and this little guy is one of them (a bear purse and marionette are two others!) I had such a wonderful Sunday! 🤓🤓🤓This morning I had a tennis match (my other love!) and got to play with my most favorite doubles partner ever- @laurielizabethk 🤘🎾🤘🎾 and then went on to visit the The Den of Marbletown (@the.den.of.m )which is a wonderful little Steiff museum. If you are ever in the Stone Ridge NY area make sure to stop by..it is beyond adorable! They even make a great bubble tea and will soon offer lunch!
