SJM told people she wouldn’t bring the worlds together either, which is the first thing that felt off about this supposedly being planned from the start.

My biggest issue with the crossover is the absolute incongruity in the worldbuilding in acotar and CC.

From the start, CC was an infodump of worldbuilding. Absolute mess of information, and for some people that was great and for others it was meh. There is no denying that the worldbuilding in CC felt like she was playing with that and seeing how it went.

But we've been going with acotar for years now, 4.5 books, and all of a sudden we are going from "*shrug* idk it's the Mother or something" to an 800-page treatise on the history and magic of Prythian?

What the fuck?

And the fact that in this video, every example she had of "hints" being planted beforehand were from ACOSF. This has not been planned from the beginning, this clearly came out of nowhere (the Dread Trove and Gwydion were never mentioned before acosf, and if anyone can find foreshadowing of them then I congratulate you) as an exercise in "what if I did this". She decided to make these connections later on, and then said "hm, what do I have so far and how can I make it gain relevance that it never had before?"

Am I going to read? Of course. Am I annoyed at the lack of planning that people will take as her being a genius just because she decided to connect random dots years down the road? Yes.

Okay, I want to give my opinion on this upcoming book. While I love SJ Maas’ books, I’m really not excited about this one. I know in the grand scheme of things it will be good. But I really don’t like Nesta.

I’m not looking for any arguments about why I should like her. I’m here to explain why I don’t and I’ve been avoiding it forever either because I was worried about backlash or because it meant being open about my trauma.

Nesta reminds me of my older brother. I cut him out of my life over two years ago after he continued to become more and more violent and manipulative. I’ve dealt with his abuse since we were children and after he snapped (for the third time in less than a year) and attacked my husband and I after we allowed him to live at our place, rent free, after he did that exact thing to his last roommates (and the ones before) I couldn’t take it anymore. I was having a panic attack and he comes into my room and says “I’m sorry”. I told him to get out and I didn’t want to hear it right now as I was hyperventilating and shaking and he screams at me that he’s trying to be the bigger person and if I won’t accept that he should “just slaughter me in my sleep”.

I cut him out of my life and I’ve been better for it since. But every time I read something involving Nesta I get flashbacks to him. From the way she is extremely hardheaded and refuses to change her point of view and that she is always correct. From the way she had treated Feyre before. To the refusing to accept help and pushing everyone away (I know is a common sign of trauma but he would always claim that we all hated him and didn’t love him after everything we would do to try and help him). There’s more that I can’t think of at this moment because just putting this into actual words has been hard.

This book will not be easy for me to read and will take me awhile to get through. To see someone that reminds me of the toxicity of my brother get a redemption arc. It won’t be easy.

Aelin Galathynius Aims Her Sights on the Southern Continent.

“Good evening, Antica!” Aelin screams into the stadium. A semicircle wall of cellphone lights shines down at her, and Aelin can almost believe she was out in the country somewhere watching the night sky, if not for the way those stars were screaming back at her.

She laughs bright and happy. “It’s nice to see you, too.”

Aelin walks along the edge of the stage, close enough to make eye contact with those upfront but far enough away to avoid being grabbed. It’s a twisted thing, wanting these people to love her and enjoy her presence while also afraid of those consequences. But Aelin’s never forgotten about The Cadre show when security had to pry her ankle out of a man’s grasp in the middle of Teenage Dirtbag.

“So, if you don’t know, my name is Aelin.” She smiles at the cheering. “Good. That could’ve gone really awkward.” A little laugh. “I know you all don’t think that happens to me, but it totally does.”

Last week I had my baby girl. After two losses, this beautiful girl made me her mommy and I’m so incredibly lucky to have her. I can’t believe she’s already a week old today. She came 4 weeks before my due date.

Author’s Note: CHAPTER 50? I was in denial the whole time I wrote this chapter that we’ve reached to such a milestone… Boy, did I throw my outline out or what? I don’t know how authors write books capped at like 60k, but I guess this story could qualify for more than one book at this point… What a ride either way!

Aelin Galathynius’s Camp Declines to Confirm Relationship with Rowan Whitethorn.

As the days go by, the media soon forgets about Aelin’s temper tantrum and meeting with Havilliard Sr. The memory doesn’t fade for Aelin, though, haunting her in the back of her mind. The paperwork Dorian’s father promised her has yet to arrive, and Aelin doesn’t know whether to rejoice about the fact that he finally took the hint or panic because he finally took the hint.

Despite her worries, Aelin manages to have a fantastic couple of weeks by sticking to her promise not to let assholes ruin her good days. Dear Society is doing fantastic, and Aelin finds herself very excited to get out on tour to see her fans. It’s been too long; though, somehow, she also feels that it hasn’t been long enough.

Aelin’s enjoyed being home in Doranelle, and she wouldn’t be disappointed about getting to spend a little bit more time there in her hometown, wasting the days with her family and friends. With Rowan and Thea. Aelin practically lives at their apartment these days, spending bright, happy days with Thea and long, warm nights tangled with Rowan.

“It’s a great album, Ae,” Rowan tells her with a smile as they watch Thea dance her little heart out. He lets out a breath of a laugh, eyes crinkling with a fondness for his daughter. “Well, what we’ve managed to hear of it, anyway. Maybe we shouldn’t have invited Thea to the listening party.”

His smile is conspiratorial. Thea somehow managed to hijack control of the sound system from the adults shortly after starting the album, and the little girl seems very happy with replaying a song a few times before moving on to another when she gets bored.

Announcement/update time!

I’ve had a few people asking about when there will be an update for “My Small Joy” and for that I still have no answer.

But I will explain the biggest reason as to why I haven’t. I’ve mentioned the past few times that there’s a personal reason as to why I haven’t done it yet. I’m now 15 weeks pregnant!

Some of you that have been following me for awhile may remember the post I made last year about my miscarriage. I had a second in January of this year. This pregnancy has lasted longer than twice the amount of time the first one did (which was the longer of the two) and has been a lot more instense.

Between returning back to work, my mother’s surgery, the fear of losing my baby again, and being constantly nauseous the last 11 weeks it has been very hard to find the energy to sit down and write. I do apologize to those of you that were really looking forward to it but right now I need to focus on me and baby and making sure I’m getting what I need to be happy and healthy.

TL;DR: I’m pregnant!

While the officer’s charges have moved up to second degree and the other three officers are being charged, don’t let the movement die. Our work is far from over. Black people are still far from safe and we are still far from free. However, don’t ever let people tell you that protesting doesn’t work. Don’t ever let people tell you that making noise does nothing in the end. This is history being made right in front of our eyes, but we can’t let it go now. Keep talking, keep donating, keep petitioning, keep protesting, keep sharing links, keep working. Black lives still matter!

Hi can you give us a date for which my small joy part 5 will come out?

Unfortunately I don’t have a date in mind. Originally I wanted to put it out a couple days ago but the motivation to write still hasn’t come back.

My country is currently in the middle of a rebellion and there’s barely room in my brain for anything else right now. All I have is anger for what has been continuously done to the black people in my country. Our president has already called for military use to squash the protests.

And along with another thing going on in my life that I’m not quite ready to speak about yet and has left me drained of all energy, I have no clue when I’ll write again. We’ll consider the story on hautis for now.

I do apologize that I’ve left you guys hanging. I really do. And I’ll try my best to get at least something out when I can.

Hey, I’m gonna try and work on it sometime this week, so I’ll hopefully have it out next Sunday (not this one but the next) at the latest.

Work has been crazy since I’ve gone back and I’m so exhausted whenever I get home. And my mind has still been preoccupied with my mom still in the hospital recovering from her surgery since I can’t actually visit her because of Covid.

I’m really sorry I’ve left everyone hanging for so long!
