finally caved (apparently 'desperatly in need of a distraction to stave off the looming anxiety spiral' counts as caving in this conversation) and hunted down the 2021 run (ill advised trip to the book store, see previous comment) and have been reading through it (though I had to pause at #21 because suddenly I looked up and it was 3:30am)
And, I'm sorry, but-
The Vampire Nation of WHAT NOW??? Thats just like...a thing in this universe!??
Somehow the fact that the obsession I had with vampires as a child is being tossed together with the disaster I was probably a lil' too into a few years back have been mashed together and in a MOON KNIGHT COMIC NO LESS??
Okay, it's very late. I need to at least try to sleep in the absolute sauna that is my bedroom this time of year, so I'll just leave this rambling thoughts here.

the firm difference between the
"RAHHHH MOON KNIGHTS SO COOL AND DISTURBED AND UNSTABLE" people
And the
"This is Marc, Steven, and Jake, they are my babies, i love them and would lay my life down for them and sometimes they make me cry but that's okay. And also sometimes they look like an angry crossiant" people
Is one which i personally think should be studied.

I'm starting to think that part of the reason I always find myself drawn to Moon Knight (no matter what form of media that may be) when life gets stressful might be because the idea of a hero whose whole thing could be interpreted as protecting the vulnerable that are most often forgotten about is comforting.
Okay no, scratch that, that's DEFINETLY part of it.

okay chat, I'm officially pretty sure I'm loosing it. (Welcome to the 'Dee is attempting to figure out how to draw a character that only like three other people have done fanart of' hour.)
What color is this mans hair.
Tumblr media
like I'm being fully serious here this is driving me up the wall (andtotallynotforShelterAUandorFanartpurposes). Because the marvel wiki SAYS BROWN but in this panel and a handful of other panels I've seen around it looks to be a dark BLOND tone.
Furthermore - WHAT IS THIS MANS HAIR? I'm??? Assuming?? It's like..a crew cut? Aka really short cropped hair that's typically associated with the military which would make sense given his backstory and also his whole thing but ALSO I've seen some folks describe him as having a fully shaved head and I just- I cannot tell. Help. You'd think drawing comic characters would be easier but noooooo.

I cannot explain why, exactly, but whenever I see a fanartist draw Matt Murdock as just like.. having devil horns (Be it actually being there, random floating, or a headband) I absolutely eat it up. It's just..so perfect. Do people still do chef's kiss? Because *chef's kiss*.

Me: *regularly posts/interacts with content relating to the Moon Knight Comics because there's only so many times you can rewatch the same six episodes in a few months*
Also me: *To date, has only read about an issue and a half of MK '21 Vol. 1 because it was all my library has and I was too scared to check it out*
I'm doing so great and not at all desperate for more Moon Knight content. Nope. Not at all.

being in the Moon Knight fandom and then interacting with any greater-marvel fandom stuff is so strange, man, because I've spent enough time around here that I geniunely forget he's still seen in most people's eyes as an Obscure/lesser known character. Probably a lot less now thanks to Rivals but, like, it's still a strange (heh) experience.

I apologize for more 'comic content from someone who hasn't actually read the comics' but I was half listening to one of those fun little light hearted videos that was something a long the lines of 'marvel characters from every state' or something and.
Assuming that video is correct.
8-ball being from Minnesota on top of being just a dude named Jeff is amazing.

I need a marvel story about someone who lives in like.. Connecticut and only works in New York. Like.. just a regular old civilian who takes a two hour train ride to and from the city everyday whose train sometimes gets delayed and they don't know why (because cell service always seems to be the worst on trains) until they get there and find out that some weirdly animal themed villain tore up Brooklyn again or aliens attacked Manhattan again or idk some sort of magic creature took over the city again

Marc and his Chicago Cubs Hat
Inspired by a post that @writeraid made about Marc's mysterious reappearing Cubs hat in 01.03 --
You’d think that anything to do with Chicago would be a minefield of triggers for Marc. After all, he left the city as soon as the Marines would take him, and his most recent visit (during his mother’s shiva) sent his life spiraling out of control. However, in the third episode of the show, we see him sporting a Chicago Cubs hat. He immediately loses the hat in a rooftop chase at the beginning of the episode but we see him wearing it once again later in the marketplace scene. There’s no way he would have found that exact same hat at a shop in Cairo. He must have gone back to get it. But why?
Marc is obviously sentimental about the hat to some degree. We know that he's been a lifelong Cubs fan from the decorations in his childhood bedroom. Maybe he has fond memories of going to Wrigley Field. Or maybe it reminds him of quieter moments at home when Wendy wasn’t around, watching baseball on television with his dad on a Sunday afternoon. For Marc, these are some of the few childhood memories he has after Randall’s death that don’t hurt. As trivial as it sounds, the Chicago Cubs are a part of his life, identity, and hometown that he’s still able to hold on to.
Saying all this still doesn’t explain why Marc wears the hat to Egypt in the first place. He has years of military and mercenary experience in the Middle East. He speaks at least some Arabic, his wife is Egyptian, and he presumably knows how to act and dress in a way that doesn’t cause him to stick out like a sore thumb. Wearing a well-known American sports team logo across his forehead is the exact opposite of subtle. Sure, you could chalk it up to him being sleep-deprived, distracted, and not in his right mind, but I have another theory. The whole time Marc is in Egypt, Steven is desperately trying to push his way to the front. Marc is trying his damned hardest to keep him at bay. I think that wearing the Cubs hat is an attempt to stay anchored in the front. It’s a positive trigger to make Marc feel more like himself, and, more importantly, less like Steven.

the more I learn about the Moon Knight comics the more I realize that my giving Marc the trait of 'Entirely Too Dramatic' is really not that out of character in every universe.

Successfully went into a comic book shop today.
There were multiple people in there and I was afraid to buy anything.
I did however lightly glance at the Moon Knight comics, so, we're getting somewhere.

important questions I, as a marvel fan, need answers to
What Happens to Matt Murdocks discarded white canes. I don't necessarily need to know what he does in terms of having a new one/getting it back, I just wanna know what happens to ones that are left behind.
In Moon Knight Episode 3, HOW did Marc Spector get his cubs hat back after it is very clearly shown to fall off while he's running across a rooftop. Tell me Marvel. Please. I'm desperate Marvel. Please Marvel.
That's it that's the post.

Finally got around to starting Daredevil (ehm, the older one that was on Netflix first.) (again, yeah, I know, probably a shocker) and it's got me remembering a post I saw while scrolling some nights ago and now I gotta ask.
Comic folks, is Matt really Jake's lawyer in one of the comic runs or is that fanfic shenanigens that everyone has just kinda excepted as canon?

I mean this in the nicest way possible but Marc Spector is definetly the kind of Person that gets handed a baby, proceeds to suck at holding the baby (think....ferret that won't stop moving.) yet proceeds to vow to protect said baby with his life.
Steven is probably just a natural at it and Jake probably teaches the baby how to swear he'd do that tbh
