Appreciated the interview with io9 (talking about platonic/romantic interpretations), but it still annoyed me? The animation studio slapped romantic subtext, parallels, and symbolism into two whole seasons and… no one noticed? No one said “Hmm, we’re trying to make this platonic so let’s change this.” No one?? They had to make final approvals, so either they saw it and kept it (queerbaiting) or it went over their heads (bad storytelling).

I’m just tired that this keeps happening, I guess.

I really wish Vax would give a proper goodbye to Keyleth. They seem to think if the Matron dies or lets him go, he’ll somehow be alive again, but logically it makes more sense that he’d just… die. He was disintegrated after all. I understand holding on to hope… but he’s dead, and watching Keyleth still suffer after three decades is horrible.

I guess what I’m saying is that I would love a proper goodbye scene, and to see Keyleth take steps towards moving on. (And besides that, I’m just annoyed watching a woman torture herself over a guy she lost 30 years ago, especially since even if he did come back, she would still lose him eventually and continue on living for centuries and then what? She’d continue torturing herself after that too??)

I just want Keyleth to be happy again.

Aside from this, great episode. Really cool to see a lore bard on the field again. I missed Sam’s take-over-a-battlefield shenanigans.

(I was scared at several points they were going to obliterate Vax lol or fuck up the magical ley lines but it thankfully all worked out. Wondering where Lieve’tel took the Beacon, though.)

Tomorrow is Halloween. More importantly, it’s the Dragon Age: Veilguard release day.

This! (Also they didn’t know there would be a season 4.) But I like the change because it shows just how much Scanlan trusts Pike. It’s fun seeing the new changes, because the old campaign is still there to watch but now we get additional scenes and what-ifs and that’s awesome.

For those who do not know. Scanlan's departure from the party in the stream wasn't as... friendly. It was kind of an ugly break-up. It came from Sam wanting to do some unexpected twist with Scanlan's character and it led to a very emotional moment. That he did not feel validated, that he did not feel appreciated and that he was considered a joke by the group.

And it came down to one phrase from Scanlan to the group: "What is my mother's name?" and when nobody was able to answer the question. Scanlan left.

However, interesting little tid-bit that might help understand this change. which comes from one of the Q&A. which is no longer up because... uhm... a whole other Drama I am not here to explain.

And what Sam said in that Q&A is that there WAS one way in which Scanlan would have stayed.

And it was Pike. who wasn't there at the time (technically was as an NPC, but since Ashley wasn't there, it's the same thing), but which Sam said was the only person who could change his decision.

And what has Pike done the entire season? BE that person who supported Scanlan in his darkest moment, and who deflated the situation probably without meaning to. And so he is able to leave the party in much better terms.

A shame because the emotional rollercoaster that it involved will be missed, but hey, it's cool to see what Sam meant by saying Pike was the one person who could stop Scanlan walking out of the party like he did

Hearing how bloodthirsty Sam is to kill off NPCs makes me nervous for the MN series. T_T

Also it was really fun knowing which characters they based the dragons’ movement on! Animation is so fun. I love watching the behind the scenes stuff.

Saw the Echoes of the Solstice character art again today and I’m once more wondering why Beau and Caleb look so much older than they are. It’s only been around 6 or 7 years since campaign 2 ended. (Beau is 30 and Caleb is 40/41.)

Liam said something on a recent episode that implied he thinks it’s been decades since campaign 2. (No one corrected him!!! Ahh!!!!)

Maybe I need to accept that character ages are just as unknown as the ages of the PC’s children.

Seeing posts about people joining Beacon for early codes and then scalping tickets for the Critrole live shows. There’s something really evil about taking a one-time experience away from someone else, then trying to sell that experience back at a price they can no longer afford.

I think the first thing I drew from campaign 3 was Orym and Dorian talking in the bar in episode 3, with a caption along the lines of “ThEsE tWo SeEm LiKe ThEy ArE iN lOvE”. Lol. Turns out that actors acting their parts really well is indeed noticeable! Wow! Who would’ve guessed??

Anyway, can Robbie stay on CR forever? He’s really good at allowing the audience to really understand a character within a limited time frame and I love that so much. A+ storytelling.
