Two Bundts in a weekend. This is their story. The first was a brown sugar cake with an unusual frosting, and it was the frosting that hooked me. Tahini frosting with toasted sesame seeds. I was curious more than anything. I expected a new frosting with all the qualities of peanut butter but with added pizazz. I combined the butter 🧈 and sugar and tahini, and started the mixer. It lightened up, it smoothed out. The texture was silky and pillowy. It spread easily beneath the spatula when I piled it atop the cake. 🧁 Everything was perfect. But the frosting tasted so gross. 🤢 3/10. Do not recommend. Will not make again. And what makes it extra spesh is this cake was for a friend’s birthday. But then the second cake happened. A simple butter cake with balsamic blueberry compote and browned butter blueberry syrup. 🫐 The cake itself is uncomplicated, the compote is sour enough to pucker your lips, and the syrup finishes with homie caramel goodness. 8/10.
