saw an absolutely hilarious animal crossing theory that i now 100% accept and it’s that in the animal crossing world, humans are going extinct, and so all the animals have locked you in an elaborate zoo enclosure and are trying to give you enrichment. and that’s why they give you infinite pointless tasks, hide money in trees and rocks, invented debt that doesnt matter etc. it’s why they always act so happy to see you even after you raze the entire island, relocate their houses twice, and always act so pleased about your choices no matter what. it’s all to keep their little endangered human healthy and enriched. and thinking of it this way has genuinely improved my experience of the game

I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.

So crazy to me that this is just casually dropped into the codex entry that you unlock immediately after you recruit him in da2 as if this doesn't completely explain basically everything that's wrong with him

I think Solas should have killed Cole and not Varric.

Here me out; I've said before that while I quite like Varric dying, I think they kinda shoehorned him into the game for no reason because they thought it would pull at players heartstrings rather than it making sense for Varric as a character. They've basically admitted to that.

But I think many long standing fans have a similar attachment to Cole and after Trespasser it makes waaaaaayyyyyy more sense that Cole would be searching for Solas to try and help/stop him.

I'm also not convinced it makes sense that Varric would try and talk Solas down considering his stance at the end of trespasser (disapproval for saying you'll be saving Solas) BUT Cole it makes COMPLETE SENSE. He's compassion. That's what Cole does.

Just replace Varric with Cole and I think it makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE in that first scene. And it also is more emotionally taxing for both Solas and Cole who both really care about each other.

Idk man. I just think Solas should have killed Cole and not Varric.
