You know what? A whumpee who never cries. Maybe they came from an unstable or stressful background. No matter how much whumper screams at them, humiliates them, tortures them, they're just taking it all not necessarily stoicly, but they sure aren't reacting as strongly as most would.
And then they're rescued. Caretaker sees the stress and pain written all over their face. Wordlessly pulls whumpee into their arms.
And whumpee just breaks down.

a writing competition i was going to participate in again this year has announced that they now allow AI generated content to be submitted
their reasoning being that "we couldn't ban it even if we wanted to, every writer already uses it anyway"
"Every writer"?

🌍💔 From Gaza: A Thank You, and a Plea for Help
My name is Mosab, and I never thought I would be here—writing these words, reaching out to strangers, trying to survive after losing 25 members of my family. I wake up every morning in disbelief, carrying grief heavier than words can hold. The war has taken everything from us.
But because of you, we are still holding on. Thanks to your generosity, we have reached $3,300 in donations. This has meant the difference between hunger and a meal, between despair and hope. Your kindness is our lifeline.
What We Face Every Day:
💔 An unbearable loss. 25 lives taken from us, and the pain never fades. 🥀 A future that feels out of reach. Survival is all we can focus on.
Even $5 can make a difference. And if you can’t donate, please reblog this post. Your voice can reach someone who can help.
I have no words strong enough to express my gratitude. You have given us hope in our darkest time.
With love and endless appreciation, Mosab & Family ❤️

Living weapon whumpee conditioned to different things for different words, like attack, kneel, etc.
The whumpee’s friends accidentally saying one of the recently saved whumpee’s condition words, like “attack” so the whumpee starts fighting. The team can’t get the whumpee to stop, forcing them to use another one of the whumpee’s condition words to stop them.
The helplessness of the whumpee??!?!? The team feeling so guilty for making the whumpee stop by using another condition word, but it was the only way to stop them!?!!!!!

So, I know this may look a little scary. There is a lot of Russian as it is set in Russia (it only makes sense that characters speak their native language). This story gave me a lot of practice with Russian, which I needed. All of the Russian has been highlighted with the English translation next to it. I hope everyone enjoys. Special thanks to @weirdthingweee who helped with planning this story.
"Radimir, are you sure I can't use my cane?", Whumpee held tightly onto their friend's hand, "it would be a little easier for both of us if you had a free hand."
"Unfortunately, the Metro is at its busiest. You would be hitting a lot of people's ankles with your guide staff", Radimir looked around, "it's best that you don't let go until we both get on the train. That way, I won't lose you."
"Извините (pardon me)", Whumpee heard Radimir.
"It's so weird being somewhere and not understanding anything of what's going on. The announcements, the mix of everyone talking. Plus being blind anyways", Whumpee giggled lightly, "kind of more awkward than normal."
"Yes, I have that type of sensory overload in the bussier parts of America", Radimir turned, "and in the countries that I do not speak the language. We've got to go."
"Wait?", Whumpee frowned.
"Слепой ироходит (blind person coming through)", Radimir pulled a little quicker, causing Whumpee to stumble and fall.
Without looking, Radimir hurried to grab a hand and hurried onto the train.
"Sorry I caused you to stumble, there were a lot of people going for the tra....", Radimir turned to see that they were not holding Whumpee's hand.
The stranger seemed just as confused.
"Извини (sorry)", Radimir quickly released the stranger's hand.
"Спасибо, что помогли мне сесть на поезд (thanks for helping me get on the train)", the person grinned sheepishly.
"Пожалуйста (don't mention it)", Radimir turned quickly, "now where is Whumpee?", they frowned as the doors closed, "no no no."
They got to the door just in time to see someone helping Whumpee off of the ground.
"No no no... fuck", Radimir moved slightly as the train started to go, "the one thing I didn't want to happen. Now I have a blind American lost in Russia."
Whumpee felt a hand grab them and help them up.
"Thank.. uh спасибо (thankyou)", Whumpee whimpered.
The person helped them to a seat, said something else, and walked away.
Whumpee hurried to pull their papers out: identification, passport, and a note that Radimir had written to explain the situation. They were told that if anyone were to approach them, they needed to hand those items over.
If Radimir did manage to lose them, they needed to stay in one spot until Radimir got back to them. The only way that could change was if the politsiya (Russian police) took them into custody. They were to follow orders, and hope someone spoke English. The note Radimir had written would again hopefully help.
Whumpee shivered slightly. They still had a chill from the outside air.
"This is great", Whumpee mumbled, "I'm lost, I have no way of reaching out to Radimir. I can't see, I can't understand anything. I know there is a possibility, but I hope Radimir gets me before the police do. I don't want to go into custody."
Whumpee blinked away tears.
As time passed the station was growing quiet.
Someone had checked on Whumpee a few times. They had read the note and looked at the passport and identification.
Whumpee was getting more anxious every time the person came by.
Whumpee's heart sank when a group of people could be heard coming closer. Whumpee gulped when they felt them stop in front of them.
Whumpee shakingly handed their papers over.
"We... are... politsiya. You... come... now", they ordered.
Whumpee gulped again, but nodded.
Thirty minutes later, Radimir hurried off the train. They checked everywhere, but Whumpee was gone.
"Great", Radimir sighed. Their phone vibrated, "great", they recognized the number.
"Здравствуйте, ето Radimir (polite hello, this is..)", they sighed.
"Здравствуйте, ето Aleksandr", the person responded, "уа из полиции (I am with the police). Мы взяли под стражу человека, который принадлежит вам (we took somebody into custody who belongs to you)."
"Да, я хочу вернуть их (yes, I want to get them back)", Radimir sighed, "могу ли я прийти и забрать их? (Can I come get them?) Они в порядке? (Are they okay?)"
"Они в безопасности (they are safe). Очень испуганный и робкий (very scared and timid). Мы предоставляем им наилчшее возможное размещение в соответствии с вашими указаниями (we are giving them the best accommodation we can per your note). Ето было очень полезно (that was very helpful)", the officer sighed, "вы можете прийти и подписать бумаги (you can come sign the papers). Что запустит процесс (that will start to process)."
"Процесс? (process?), почему всегда есть процесс? (why is there always a process?) Их ты имеешь уже сколько часов? (you've had them for what, an hour?)"
"Извините, мы должны убедиться, что все сделано по поводу (I apologize, we have to make sure everything is done correctly)", the officer grumbled.
"Да, и вы сохраните их в течение 5 дней после (yes and you'll keep them for 5 days after)", Radimir frowned, "я скоро буду. (I'll be there shortly)"
Radimir hung up and rubbed the side of his head, "I guess this is as good a time as any to call in a special favor."
Radimir made their call, then proceeded to the politsiya station.
"Могу ли я увидкть их? (Can I see them?)", Radimir looked up from the papers they were signing, "убедитесь, что они в порядке... утешить их (make sure they are okay... comfort them)."
"Нет, ето не очень хорошая идея (No, that would not be a good idea)", the officer commented.
"Hmm, для кого (for who)", Radimir fiddled with the pen, "ты, видимо, понятия не имеешь, кто я (you apparently have no idea who I am).
"Нет и мне все равно (No, and I don't care)", the officer stared, "зто будет рассматриватьсг как любой другой случай (this will be treated like any other case)."
"У вас будут ироблемы, если они получат травму (You will have a problem if they're injured)", Radimir stood abruptly and started for the door.
"Извините, мы не оказываем особых услуг (sorry, we don't do special favors)", the officer called after Radimir.
Radimir paused, and bit their bottom lip, "I can't get arrested, I can not attack a police agent.
The officer chuckled lowly as Radimir left.
The officer sat back comfortably at their desk. They looked through the papers that Radimir had signed. They decided to wait a few days before filing the paperwork. They really did not like the attitude Radimir had given. The American would have to deal with it.
Their door was slammed open.
"Oi", they yelled as they looked up and saw who was barging in, "Капитан? (captain?)"
"Ты идиот (you're an idiot)", the captain frowned, "отвезите менг к слепому американцу (take me to the blind American)... Сейчас (now)... Я очень надеюсь, что они не пострадали (I really hope they are not injured)."
"Почему мы им преклоняемся? (why are we bowing down to them?)", the officer pulled out keys and stood.
"Радимир - друг нашего босса (Radimir is a friend of our boss)", the captain quickly followed, "он также владеет очень важным бизнесои (he also owns a very important business). Он не тот, с кем стоит связываться (he's not the one to mess with), но тебе удалось (but you succeeded)."
"Это не кажется правильным (this doesn't seem right)", the officer turned down the hall and saw their boss standing there. A glare planted on their face.
"Обязательно скажите ему, что (make sure to tell him that)", the captain whispered as they reached for the keys.
The officer gulped.
The door opened slowly.
Radimir's friend looked in and saw Whumpee cowering in the corner.
"Hey Whumpee", the friend walked in calmly, "I am Igor, Radimir's friend. I'm going to get you back to Radimir. Do you by chance remember me?"
Whumpee shook their head, "no, I'm sorry. I'm so scared, are you here to help me? Wait, yo-you speak English. I just want to get back to Radimir. Please", Whumpee pleaded.
"Yes,I can speak English. I don't know why I wasn't told that we had an American here. I can see you shaking. Here, I am going to help you up. We are going to wrap you in a blanket. You'll come to my office while we wait for Radimir to come back."
Whumpee quickly nodded and let Igor help them up.
"There we go. Are you hungry?", Igor wrapped the blanket around Whumpee, "I'm sorry for the mix up. You've had quite a day today. You got lost, arrested, and rescued all in the same day", Igor started to lead them from the cell, "онп не притронулись к еде (they didn't touch their meal), кто- нибудь им вообще помог? (Did anyone help them at all?)"
Igor looked around and saw everyone looking down.
"Постыдный (disgraceful)", Igor frowned, "кто-нибудь, приготовьте им еду (someone go make them some food)."
The Captain apologized repeatedly as they led Radimir to Igor's office.
"Все в порядке, пока онп в безопасности (it's alright, as long as they're safe)", Radimir sighed.
Radimir caught eyes with the officer who gave them all of the difficulties. They only shook their head and turned to follow the Captain.
**KNOCK... KNOCK**
"Приходить (come in)", Igor welcomed.
The Captain quickly opened the door, nodded to Igor, and let Radimir in. They quickly closed the door after.
Igor watched as Radimir took in the sight.
Whumpee sat quietly on the floor. Tear tracks traced down their cheeks. Their pale eyes glossed over from crying. Their eyes were rubbed raw from the crying.
Radimir turned to Igor.
"Had I known, I would have gotten them sooner. I had no idea", Igor said apologetically, "I'm so sorry."
Radimir watched as Whumpee slowly ate a dumpling. They sniffled slightly as they swallowed.
"Out of all the things I didn't want to deal with while bringing them to Russia. Losing them and dealing with law enforcement was top of the list", Radimir sighed.
"Radimir?", Whumpee lifted their head quickly in shock.
"I am so sorry for losing you", Radimir hurried to Whumpee, "I hurried as fast as I could to get back to you. Of course, every train I used to get back to you didn't seem to be going fast enough. Definitely not as fast as the politsiya move, of course."
"We are the finest", Igor chuckled, "I am so sorry about the mix up. Is there anyway we can make it up to you?"
"A fast ride back to my company's building would be great, but we can walk."
"Say no more", Igor got up, "I have the fastest car here."
Whumpee cuddled close into Radimir as Igor sped through the streets.
"You are so brave", Radimir hugged Whumpee closer.
"Thankyou", Whumpee stretched to rest their head on Radimir's chest, "I'm tired."
"Yes, I can Imagine", Radimir played with Whumpee's hair, "you had more adventure then I originally planned for you."
Igor turned to look at them, "yes, can I recommend one of the museums next time?"
"I don't think I'm going to get them to do much else this trip", Radimir sighed, "maybe next time."
Whumpee's breathing relaxes.
"I think they are falling asleep. Whumpee just a few more moments. I'm going to get you in my office. I have the couch all ready for you."
"Mmm", Whumpee moaned tiredly.
The car went even faster.
"Не убивайте нас (don't kill us)", Radimir sighed as they held Whumpee close.
"Вы шутите (are you kidding), ты знаешь, как быстро я обычно езжу? ( do you know how fast I normally go?)", Igor laughed.
"He drives like you Radimir", Whumpee commented.
"So is your hotel near your company", Igor parked, "I can wait if you needed to grab something."
"Actually we are spending the night in my office. Tomorrow the hotel will be ready for us", Radimir started to get Whumpee's hat on them.
"Are you sure?", Igor frowned, "my home may be more comfortable than your office."
"Yes, I'm sure it would be. I'm going to work through the night. I have some assignments to work on before a meeting tomorrow. The beauty of them being blind, is I can keep the light on", Radimir smiled as Whumpee tiredly blinked, "my couch is comfortable, and they're tired enough. I've already taken a nap earlier. I appreciate it, my dear friend. Спасибо.. за все (thankyou for everything)."
"Of course, I'm glad I could help", Igor turned to Whumpee, "I hope that this mix up didn't dampen you wanting to visit Russia again. We are a great country, I promise."
"I know, it gave me Radimir. I'll just make sure not to lose him again" Whumpee grinned sheepishly, "thankyou for helping me."
"You're welcome", Igor cupped Whumpee's cheek, "always."
Radimir leaned up, "thankyou for the ride. I appreciate all of your help today."
"You're welcome", Igor grinned.
Whumpee fell onto the couch after Radimir helped wipe them down.
"You'll get a better shower tomorrow at the hotel", Radimir pulled a blanket up to Whumpee's chin, "I am truly sorry for what happened earlier, and I am so happy to have you back."
"I'm happy to be back as well. I'm sorry, I'm really tired though", Whumpee whispered.
"Yes, I'm sure you are", Radimir played through Whumpee's hair, "my desk is just a few feet away. There is a bathroom in here as well. Your guide staff is right here", Radimir moved Whumpee's hand to where their pole was.
"Thankyou Radimir", Whumpee sighed, "I appreciate you working so hard to get me out of there."
"You're welcome", Radimir cupped Whumpee's cheek, "get some rest. I'll have a few things to do with you tomorrow after the meeting. None of which will involve the Metro. We will only use that when it's not busy. I'll be holding your hand a lot tighter."
"I still can't believe you grabbed the wrong hand", Whumpee giggled.
"Yes, the face the person made when I finally realized", Radimir chuckled as well.
Whumpee sighed tiredly, "this couch feels so good."
"I'm sure it does. Alright, you get some sleep", Radimir stood, "I'll be right over here if you need me."
"Thankyou Radimir", Whumpee smiled again.
"You're welcome", Radimir smiled, "sleep well (спокойной ночи).
Taglist. As always please let me know if you want to be added or taken off of the list. It's not a problem at all.

Superpowers: a recap
You know, I often tend to skip superpowers under the rug when I write my snippets- which is kind of a problem in a Hero/Villain setting.

Super strength
Super endurance

Has non-human animal anatomy (reptilian scales, horns, produces poison, etc)
Can break into parts and reassemble

Super instinct (can sense when something’s wrong, when someone is lying)
Can control fibers/clothes
Can create portals to anywhere else
Control of one single type of object (doors, trains, cars, paper, etc)
Control anything made by humans
Music powers
Can force everyone to dance

Can control temperature
Can control the weather
Control of life forms
Can control humans
Can control beasts
Can control plants
Can control...mushrooms, I guess ?
Can control viruses and bacteria
Can control blood
Everything they touch die
Everything they touch come back to life
Can accelerate/slow down aging
=> is the life form conscious while under control ? Can they fight back? Do they have to be okay with it?
Sense powers
(Reminder: human senses are hearing, vision, touch, taste, smell, vestibular)
Better senses (better sight, better hearing, etc)
X-ray vision
Can see every place they like or eavesdrop everywhere
Can manipulate the senses of others (can heighten them or cancel them)

Emotions
Their sheer presence induces an emotion (fear, love, etc)
Can force to feel an emotion/heighten or dull emotions

Can froze time
Can predict the future/see the past
Oh now that's just cheating
Reality wrapper
Luck
Everything they create becomes real
Can choose any superpower they want according to the situation
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Is the character okay with their power ?
they hate it it’s a curse to them
they wish it were different (stronger, another power altogether, etc)
they don’t mind
they really enjoy it
it’s their whole identity
Etc.
If they hate it, is it because:
it hurts
it could hurt someone/something else
it’s useless/ it’s not offensive
it goes against their personality
people hate it too
it makes people treating them as a tool
Can they control it?
they’re a walking disaster
using it makes them sick
perfect control, natural or learned
they don’t even need to think about it
etc
How powerful it is?
(Ex control of fire: can barely light a match versus can set in fire the whole country)
Characters with weak powers my beloveds. It's about them fighting when they know they will lose, putting everything they have in the fight, keeping their head high when people sneer at them. It's about them enjoying their power without having it to be useful, or forcing them to be creative and smart about/around it.
Overpowered characters my beloveds. It's not about them winning the fight because the answer is obvious, it's about them dealing with too much power in a fragile world, the gap between them and the others, how it impacts their relationships, their morality - never hesitate to make a character like this. It can be terrifying, it can be hilarious, it can be great. No trope is bad, it all depends on how it's used.
What is the source of their power ?
failed experiment?
successful experiment?
got them from a supernatural being?
got them from their family?
got them from a magical object?
When did they get it ?
when born?
during childhood ? Teen years ?
grown-up ?
Was it expected or not?
Is getting this power a one time thing or to they need to renew it ?
(via sacrifice, offering, a special food/medicine, a good/bad deed, etc)
Can they give it to someone else?
Can it go away/fade?
Does it grow stronger/weaker with age?
Is it affected by the health of the character ?
(Is the power weaker when the character is sick, or is it stronger as a defense measure ? Does it become unpredictable?)
Does it hurt using it/not using it?
(Because it takes too much on the body/because it forces to repress an important part of the self)
Does the power change their personality in a good/bad way?
(Does it corrupt them, does it force them to see the world in a new light, etc)
Can their power combine with someone else’s ?
Do they have a weakness/something that cancels their abilities?
Do they have special needs because of it ?
(Do they need glasses, headphones, medicine, a special diet, etc)
Are they immune to their own power or do they take damage ?
(Ex : is your character able to control fire is fireproof or not?)
How much do they rely on it?
they use them for everything
they use them often
they could do without
it’s barely an afterthought to them
they never use it
etc
How do they use it ?
Raising their hand
With their eyes
With some object
They don’t have to do anything
Etc
How does this power is perceived by the others?
This makes them a god
This makes them a star
This makes them totally mundane
This makes them look really stupid
This makes them a nuisance
This makes them someone to be killed at all costs
Etc.
About the suit
Is that for protection ?
Is it an uniform ?
Is it here for the vibe ?
Does it strengthen their abilities?
Does it have gadgets ?
How (im)practical is it ?

A kind Whumper who gives Whumpee everything they ask for
Whumpee asked for water, and so they were waterboarded/drowned. Whumpee was cold so Whumper either locks them in a burning hot room, or sets a part of them on fire They're hot? Ice bath for a couple of hours Tired? Sedate them constantly until they can't remember how many days have passed. Maybe play a sick game of twisting the world when they awake. " YOU'RE FINALLY AWAKE!!! THREE YEARS, WHUMPEE. I'VE WAITED THREE YEARS" keep on playing mind games until they start to believe you, only to shatter their new reality. Maybe they wake up with Whumper not around, believing they've been freed. WHumper's friends play into the delusion, just long enough for Whumper to get home before mocking a devastated Whumpee. Bored? Give them so much labour, they can barely walk after. hungry? force them to eat until they're puking lonely? Kidnap another person and keep gift them to Whumpee. Make sure they both know who's fault it is that they were taken.

I think we need to acknowledge back pain in whump
Tied up Whumpee with an extremely tight back, muscles strained in a way that they should not be. Even when untied, too sore to function
Winged whumpee unable to rest their wings and is suffering from the weight.
Having no access to a proper bed resulting in difficulty sleeping and further difficulty moving without pain
Whumpee so weak they aren't able to stand up, stuck on their back/side for so long it starts to hurt
Caretaker massaging Whumpee's back and finding it's as hard as a rock (bonus points if they are forced to feel the texture of the scars)
Whumper making Whumpee do physical labor resulting in Whumpee having improper form and suffering because of it
Whumpee with their arms hanging above their head, trying not to pull muscles when they relax for a moment
Disabled Whumpee having pain from their prosthetic not being perfectly even
Disabled Whumpee when they use a cane/wheelchair/mobility aid for too long
Just like... back pain. I think we forget it a lot

This not only makes it easier to fit into a busy schedule, but it helps promote your favorite writers!
You are more than welcome, of course, to write all thirty days or rec all thirty days—or both—but that is not necessary to complete the challenge.
Join us in filling the world with spectacular whump stories!
Tag us in your stories, recs, and art!
Choose one or more of the prompts daily (or use an alt prompt) and get to work!
Post your stories to our Ao3 collection:
This information is also in the pinned post on our account.
Do your best and get to whumping!
Special thanks to Lynn(justanotherinterneruser) for helping put this together. <3

Skip Google for Research
As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse. It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms
As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable. As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.
Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.
⁂
Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.
www.refseek.com - Academic Resource Search. More than a billion sources: encyclopedia, monographies, magazines.
www.worldcat.org - a search for the contents of 20 thousand worldwide libraries. Find out where lies the nearest rare book you need.
https://link.springer.com - access to more than 10 million scientific documents: books, articles, research protocols.
www.bioline.org.br is a library of scientific bioscience journals published in developing countries.
http://repec.org - volunteers from 102 countries have collected almost 4 million publications on economics and related science.
www.science.gov is an American state search engine on 2200+ scientific sites. More than 200 million articles are indexed.
www.pdfdrive.com is the largest website for free download of books in PDF format. Claiming over 225 million names.
www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free

10 Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
Prev: Non-Lethal Injury Ideas
Need some creative ways to give your characters a real fight for survival? Here are 10 ideas:
1. Punctured Artery
A puncture to major arteries like the femoral artery (thigh), the carotid artery (neck), or radial artery (arm) can cause rapid blood loss. It starts off with a sharp pain, weakness, lightheadedness and eventually can lead to hypovolemic shock. Requires urgent medical attention.
2. Punctured Eye Socket
A punctured eye socket will cause blood vessel damage leading to internal bleeding. I would use this for non-combat characters trying to get away. The eyes are an easy weak spot + you don’t need much strength to cause a critical injury/puncture. Also good for a protag's tragic backstory.
3. Torn Achilles Tendon
A torn Achilles tendon can result in severe bleeding if nearby arteries or veins are damaged. Your character will be forced to hobble away as pain causes their foot to swell and bruise. Plus, you can easily adjust the pain levels per your scene, from swift cuts to explosive jumps.
4. Neck Hyperextension (Hangman’s Fracture)
This injury will fracture the C2 vertebra and can lead to spinal cord damage, paralysis or sudden death. This isn’t a light injury your character can come back from, so I would suggest using it only when you’re aiming for death.
5. Pierced Lung
A punctured lung will lead to a pneumothorax where air escapes into the chest cavity, collapsing the lung. Characters with this injury may have difficulty breathing, chest pain, and a cough that produces frothy blood (all the dramatics you need).
6. Severe Concussion
A severe concussion will lead to confusion, vomiting, immobility and memory loss. More dangerously, brain swelling, internal bleeding and damaged brain tissue. Plus, it has a long recovery period.
7. Shattered Pelvis
If you need something severe that restricts mobility but also causes severe pain then this is perfect! Involves signs of shock, internal bleeding, numbness, swelling—really a lot of things. Can occur if OC falls from a high place, hit repeatedly, car accident, etc.
8. Internal Bleeding from Blunt Force Trauma
I like using this when you need something subtle since it doesn't show immediate symptoms. Over time, they will feel weak, cold, nauseous, and intense pain. Perfect if you want that 'everyone made it out then suddenly someone collapses' moment.
9. Intestinal Perforation
A sharp blow or penetrating wound can cause a tear in the intestines, leaking bacteria into the body cavity, then peritonitis. It can go from small stomach pain to near death pretty quickly. Without prompt medical care, sepsis can set in, causing organ failure and death.
10. Cut to the Jugular
If you need something more visibly dramatic then go with the classic cut to the jugular. A warm rush of blood will pour out, and blood would spurt with every heartbeat. Causes panic, choking, and internal bleeding too. All the blood and gore you need.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. Remember the worse the injury the more likely your character is to die (so be realistic folks). Happy writing! :)

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
New Part: 10 Lethal Injury Ideas
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)
