"This is not collective consciousness, but collective anti-consciousness. The “woke mind virus” that tech lords rail against is a front for their actual fear: that you are observant, awake, and alive." -Sarah Kendzior

People might bring up Vincent van Gogh as an example of a painter who did great work in spite of, or because of, his suffering. I like to think that van Gogh would have been even more prolific and even greater if he wasn't so restricted by the things tormenting him. I don't think it was pain that made him so great, I think painting brought him whatever happiness he had.
—David Lynch

"Just like there’s no ethical consumption in capitalism, there’s no ethical way of living within the imperial core. I think a lot of people are uncomfortable with, and struggling coming to terms with our current way of life is only possible through exploitation. It sucks, I know. That’s why so many of us who actually do know how this shit works are in a constant cycle of rage, disassociation, and hope. Hard not to be angry at a world you’re forced to live in, that you don’t agree with and basically have zero control over. It’s suffocating." -Ashley Stevens, @The_Acumen on twitter

"You want me to accept a genocide not because you actually think I should, but because you want me to match your cowardice and moral apathy so you feel better about it. They say misery loves company. Apathy and evil also hate being alone, but they’re even more hungry than misery. Misery is content to drag one or two people down with it. Apathy and evil want the whole world. Is it not enough for you that almost everyone agrees with you? That almost everyone has taken your path of doing nothing or actively perpetuating? No it’s not enough because you want to decimate the morality of the small group of people who actually stand ten toes down for Palestine — there aren’t a lot of us. Palestine has many supporters and much sympathy, but very few who are willing to fight until the end no matter what." -Nylah Iqbal Muhammad

Maturity is when you realize people can't give you what they can't give themselves, so you stop expecting loyalty from people who betray themselves, stop expecting honesty from people who lie to themselves, and stop expecting peace from people who are at war with themselves.

"In reality we do not live in a truth-based society that is guided by morality and governed by basically decent people — we live in a lie-based society that is guided by greed and the pursuit of power, and is governed by unelected sociopaths. We do not live in the kind of world we were taught about in school. We live in a corrupt, mind-controlled dystopia, under the thumb of an undeclared globe-spanning empire which requires more and more violence and tyranny to sustain."
-Caitlin Johnstone

“Art is giving yourself permission to translate life. Exactly the way you feel. See. And hear it. Be the artist you are. Give yourself permission to speak your own language.” -— Nayyirah Waheed
