“I want a bath spell but I’m a shower person!!” Workaround
Listen. I miss baths too. But we have places to be and are in tiny apartments and we don’t have time to be soaking in a pool of herbs and then immediately scrubbing the leaves out of the tub.
You will need:
A pot
Your herbs (food/cosmetic grade)
Liquid Castille soap (unscented Dr. Bronner’s, okay?)
Empty squeeze bottle (I’ve even used one of those $2 condiment bottles from wegmans)
Quartz, if you’re one of those “I have to charge it!” witches
Boil them herbs. Boil ‘em ‘til they’re soft and colorless. Get all that power out of them. Strain the water clear of plant material and set aside.
Wait for it to cool to a temperature that won’t warp or melt your plastic bottle and then fill said bottle about two thirds way. Drop that quartz in there now if you’re going to do that.
Remove quartz before you pour in the Castille soap. But that’s what you’re doing; dumping in Castille soap the rest of the way. It’s meant to be diluted and we’re taking advantage of the high concentration of soap.
Gently mix.
In the shower, squeeze onto a wash cloth and lather as much as you want in your hair and all over your body.
Bam. Can be adapted to almost any bath spell and doesn’t result in a moldy sachet or leaves in the drain.
-Blessings! ✨

A sunshower or sun shower is a meteorological phenomenon in which rain falls while the sun is shining. A sunshower is usually the result of accompanying winds associated with a rain storm sometimes miles away, blowing the airborne raindrops into an area where there are no clouds. Hence, a sunshower. Sometimes a sunshower is created when a single rain cloud passes overhead, and the Sun’s angle keeps the sunlight from being obstructed by overhead clouds. (Source)

To be a Local Witch
Throughout history and our legends, Witches and Wizards were the crazy men and women that lived on the outskirts of the village. Their craft was wild and strange to those that lived in the village, but, nonetheless, people would seek after their wisdom of the land, the plants, the local spirits, and for wisdom or guidance in their path. These men and women, often bachelors, would know the ins and outs of the region and often went walking alone.
Today, our villages are less rustic and more like local towns, and suburbs. But one can still be a Local Witch, and develop special connections with the land you call home.
Become a Local Witch:
Learn Local Lore Folktales, legends, and even tall tales develop the culture of a town or area. Learn these. Retell them over summer campfires, and over drinks with friends. People will start to LOVE your stories.
Start Frequenting locally owned shops and stores Develop connections and relationships with the owners and those that work there every day. Learn their names, and introduce yourself after visiting more often. Supporting locally owned shops helps small business owners and provides nourishment to your community. This is putting down roots, and develops your connection with the people that shape your town.
Find a Local Bookstore This is an extension of 1 and 2. Locally owned bookstores always have a Local Writers, Local Plants, and Local History sections. Ask inside where these sections are, and start devouring these books. Not only will you be supporting a local shop, but you have a direct source of helpful information. Oftentimes, employees and owners also know a lot of Lore. Talk to them about what you’re interested in learning. They probably have some hidden gems of information.
Learn about your Indigenous Plants Start researching and learning about the flora that grows locally, learn their lore, their uses, and magical or folklore associations. If Natives from your area used these plants, find out how. Learn where these plants grow and research local foraging. If you’ve never foraged, see if you can find a local group that can serve as helpful guides to stay safe. Never ingest anything unless you are SURE.
Start a local Plant Grimoire Keep dried presses of flowers and plants in it, draw and diagram to help you remember what they look like.
Learn about the indigenous animals Research their folklore and mythology. Start finding out what they eat, and what their habitats are. (Safely) Do your part to help foster their growth and health. This could be making insect houses to help local endangered pollinators, or leaving out special birdseed for endangered bird species in the area. (Safely) Start interacting with the non-aggressive species and leave them treats. This is great for birds, deer, rabbits, moles, chipmunks, hedgehogs, etc
Join local Conservation Projects  Getting directly involved in wildlife conservation strengthens our spiritual and natural ties to the land we call our home. Taking personal responsibility and interest in it’s stewardship is honoring the spirits of the land, and the Gods.
Use Google Maps while exploring parks, or protected open spaces to drop pins and places where you find animal habitats or useful plants for foraging.
That’s all for now. More will come later I’m sure. Now go be the best local Witch or Druid you can be!

2020 Witch Challenge
~Week 1~
Topic: Ancient Greece
When: 12-9 BC through 600 AD
Where: Greece, specifically Athens
What was life like for the upper class? What sort of clothes did they wear, what did they eat and drink? How did they spend their time?
The upper class were the Greeks born to Athenian parents, citizens of Athens. They were the rich and powerful of Athenian society, holding all power politically AND militarily. Meat was reserved for the wealthy, diets consisted mainly of bread, olives, beans, grapes, figs, milk and cheese. They never drank milk, they considered it barbaric, and drank either water or wine. Men would go to town to barter for market, women would stay at home and keep house.
What was life like for the ordinary citizen? What sort of clothes did they wear, what did they eat and drink? How did they spend their time?
An “ordinary” citizen were the commoners, a group made of up slaves that won their freedom and had basic legal and social privileges. While the rich had more luxurious leisure activities, commoners were most likely playing soccer, hoop, or dice. Hoop is a game involving an iron hoop propelled forward with a wooden stick. They ate mostly like the rich, just no meat. They grew their own food, veggies and fruits, and raised the goats to make the milk for goat cheese. All Greeks mostly two light garments draped across their bodies, that also doubled as bedding.
What role did magic play?
The Greeks have a god specifically for witchcraft. Their magic consisted of evil prayers, incantations, poisons, potions (love potions), spells, curse tablets, drugs, and powerful amulets. Magicians were feared, and people would come to them to fix ailments/bring happiness to themselves. Magic in the Greek world was not just prevalent in the realm of private individuals, neither was it reserved for the poor and illiterate.
What was the most used form of magic (e.g. curses, weather magick)?
Cursing seemed to be the more prevalent form of magic. That, potions, and amulets were mostly used in that time.
What was the public perception of magic? Was it endorsed? Hated?
It depends on the class, a lot of commoners would seek out magicians for help, upper class individuals would punish magicians, usually with the death penalty. Magicians also relied on handouts to eat.
What was the public perception of those who practiced magic?
Again, depends on the class^ see above answer.
What similarities do you see between their magic and modern witchcraft? What differences?
Myself being a curse friendly witch, I liked that I chose this topic to research. I hadn’t known that Greek magick would be curse friendly, honestly expected it to be more wholesome and lovey dovey. So I can see similarities between the magick I practice to the magick they practiced. Especially with the amulets that most witches will glamour in today’s time, like necklaces or rings, etc.

Ring magick
I wanted to add something for my witchy tips post.
I talked about rings there and I want to explore their uses more!
Rings as charms
This is the most known way to use rings. Give purpose to it, wear it, and there you go!
Rings as circle casters
While wearing your ring, turn it clockwise to cast the circle and turn it counterclockwise to close it.
Especially nice if you have a ring with a turning piece.
Rings as mood spells
Ring spells are not very powerful generally, but mood ones are pretty good.
Think of it like when we fidget with a ring when we're nervous.
Breathing deeply and clearing your mind, turn it counterclockwise to banish a bad mood (anxious thoughts, anger, more energetic negative moods work best) and then turn it clockwise to bring in a good mood (relaxation, peacefulness, clearer mind.)
These ring spells work for when you're too upset to do another spell.
Rings as chargers
As they touch your hands so much, rings are extra charged with energy! For that reason, setting it on a table and placing something inside them or just on top can recharge theat object.
Useful for charging tiny bottles, crystals or other charms.
Where do I wear the ring?
This part is how I interpret our hands and fingers, so you could agree or disagree.
Left hand or right hand?
The hand you use to write with is your dominant hand. It is related to the Sun.
The other one is the supporting hand. It is related to the Moon.
Which finger should I wear the ring on?
The pinky= Fire
The ring finger= Water
The middle finger= Air
The index finger= Earth
The thumb= the Abstract/the Spirit Realm (abstract is if you don't believe in spirits)
Explanations and meanings
Pinky= the shorter and less present but still extremely important. Associated with energy, taking action to get to a goal, energy going outwards.
Ring= the one that connects to our heart, usually as long as the index, indicating that our Earth is made of water and earth. Associated with emotions, love, intuition, energy is spreading.
Middle= if we spread our fingers, this one stands the tallest towards the sky. Associated with rationality, intelligence and thought. Energy goes inwards.
Index= usually as long as the ring finger, and the second most important one. Associated with the senses, grounding ourselves, nature and work. Energy is shielding us.
Thumb= separated but still present and the most important. Associated with either concepts, ideas, creativity and inspiration, or spirituality and faith. Energy is a connection.
What kind of ring should I wear?
Material
Gold= Sun
Silver= Moon
Black silver= Space
Copper= Planets
Wood= Earth
Other metals= see the properties of each metal
Tips
If it has a gemstone, read its meaning and you can use it accordingly.
Give a meaning to the decorations!
If your ring leaves a green or black stain, it's either bad quality or the reaction of the metal with the salts in your skin. Can happen with silver and copper especially. Mine stopped after a day, but if it doesn't, here is what you can try:
Avoid contact with soaps and lotions.
Apply clear nail polish on the inside of the ring. You'll have to reapply it every once in a while.
Find stainless steel, platinum or rhodium plated rings. Most white gold rings fall in the last category.
If your ring leaves red marks, irritated skin and rashes, stop wearing it and ask a doctor.
There we have it! I think that's all. If you have questions or suggestions, leave them in a comment, a reblog or a private message and I'll answer!

Wednesday Witchcraft: 7 Keys to Successful Divination
per author Jason Miller
1. Better to be wrong than vague. Everyone is afraid of being wrong when they divine, and so often people couch their divination in such vague terms that no matter what happens, they can look back and claim that they were right. Don't do this. Vague information isn't actionable or helpful. It's better to be detailed and be wrong. Lots of professionals can be wrong—just look at the success rate of mutual fund managers and lawyers.
2. Be brutal. No one likes delivering unpleasant news, but in the end, its better to deliver unpleasant tidings than it is to pretend like everything is fine. Yes, the death card can mean great change, but if the question was about someone's health, that great change is possibly exactly what it looks like.
3. Be literal. Divination is sometimes very literal. It is often as literal as it can possibly be. I once drew the Pope card for someone who, unbeknownst to me, was scheduled to have an audience with the Pope in a month. Another time I drew the Lovers card, which shows a man choosing between two women. This querent had literally been in a three way that week.
4. Remember the question. I meet readers all the time who forget to interpret the cards or the runes or whatever it is that they read with, in the light of the question that was asked. They read like they are just giving a general reading. The question is what will determine the meaning of the card, far more than the little white book your deck came with. One of the reasons that I favor Marseilles-style decks is that the cards are plainer and it's easier to focus on the person in front of me and their problem, rather than the esoteric onslaught of runes and symbols and letters and sigils that have been packed into Occult decks, or whatever fun theme your deck is based on. Hello Kitty Tarots are fun, but is that helping your divination?
5. Get readings from others. As I have said, no one likes delivering unpleasant news. We especially don't like delivering it to ourselves. Get readings from other people, preferably ones who are not invested in you hearing only good things.
6. Gather intelligence. A single reading is a piece of data. You take that and compare it to other pieces of data. This could be other readings in different styles, but it could also be rumors, insight, analysis, and any other way that you can think of to get information. Actionable intelligence is constructed from multiple corroborating data points.
7. Practice. Keep doing it. Follow up with people afterward. It is the only way to get good.
From "The Elements of Spellcrafting"
