the penultimate issue of ‘The Charming Siblings Saga’ is in the final stage of completion. i just need to finish editing every page together, adding backgrounds to certain panels, and then inserting the speech bubbles and all instances of type in the comic. then it will be ready to post.

Hello! Your art is amazing and the way you draw characters is so expressive! Do you have any tips for those of us who have trouble properly drawing emotions?

hi, thanks so much! yeah uh honestly i’d say the biggest thing can be the eyes. and the eyebrows, but the eyes themselves. the size of the pupils, for instance, can show the type of emotion. smaller pupils indicate terror or extreme rage, while larger ones can be signs of love or sadness.

playing with the eyelids can also help to better illustrate the expression.

(some times it helps to add lines under the eyes to show a deeper sense of melancholy)

also, the more crease lines from the eyebrows in a given expression, the more intensity you give the emotion.

the last big pointer i can give is not to be afraid to obscure parts of an expression. sometimes, the omission of a detail can really change the effect.

obviously the mouth and even the nose are important, but the eyes really are the core of any expression, so nailing them is crucial.
