I'm just gonna say it like it is.

Let's not act like the first three books of The Wheel Of Time were much more than mediocre because they were, and that's okay. Writers sometimes take time to get it right, even if they have prior experience as Robert Jordan did. The reason why I bring this up is because a lot of people who came from the books to the show (and weren't using buzzwords) were understandably upset by what studio interference wrought in terms of story changes, fail to consider this; even without those changes, some of which were necessary (streamlining the journey from one destination to another, aging up the characters, giving Rand and Egwene an established relationship, showing what the loss of an Aes Sedai does to a Warder) and others didn't (giving Perrin a wife just so she could be fridged, the forced love triangle between him, Egwene and Rand that went nowhere, Egwene healing death) the first two seasons would still be average at best. Moreover, it does feel a bit disingenuous to hold up the books the first two seasons are based on as masterworks. They aren’t. They're average at best, and the series doesn't go beyond that until Shadow Rising.

Also, why does everyone just ignore the fact that on top of the troubled production, Amazon and Sony didn't seem to care either way whether the show failed or not? If nothing else, it should be a reminder that the people who choose what gets made or adapted aren't logical human beings; they're addicts seeking another high.

I could say more, but after seeing another round of "tHeY bUTchEreD iT!!!11!1" comments, I don't have the spoons for it rn.
