The smell of food filled Madame Christmas’ bar, wafting through from the open door of the kitchen behind the counter. Voices travelled the length of the room, filled with laughter and cheer, as they chatted with one another and caught up with old friends.

Breda and Havoc sat on barstools as they nursed a beer in their hands. Havoc’s head was thrown back as he laughed – loudly. A full belly laugh, which had heads turning and smiling in amusement, unable to temper their own upon hearing the sound. He lifted a hand and slapped it down on Breda’s back affectionately as his friend laughed along with whatever joke they were in on. Fuery snickered as he stood beside them. He too had a beer in his hands which he took a swig of – however he hadn’t drank as much as the other two yet.

Falman was not drinking. He was driving his family back to their hotel after the party this evening. They’d arrived back in Central yesterday after travelling all day by train from the north. The kids had looked around in awe at the concrete jungle, so different from North City and their hometown, and Falman had taken great delight in showing his family around.
