Lipstick stained love letters, cups of warm coffee, red splashed everywhere, winter bleeding into Spring, slow evenings by candlelight, dark chocolate and rom-com movie marathons. Early Sunday baking, pyjama days, writing in your diary about your latest crush, romance novel reading, candy hearts and pink skies at dusk ༄₊♡⋆
Valentines, heart shaped paradise, red lipstick kisses and baking 💋
Now it is February, I can fully embrace the Valentines aesthetic. I want to go all out this year, and so in this post I’m going to tell you how I plan to do it 🥰
Aesthetics for February:
- Classic coquette
- Valentines
- Red downtown girl
- Clean girl
Classic coquette:
When I say classic coquette I mean the original, 2018 Tumblr Coquette. I remember scrolling through (when coquette wasn’t what it is now) and seeing faded pictures of Heart shaped sunglasses, Brandy Melville cami tops, Gold heart lockers and Mary Janes, and this is what I class as the “Classic Coquette” aesthetic. 💌
Valentines:
I feel that the “Valentines” aesthetic is so niche because it only comes round as one day a year. But I really want to make the most of it this year. The red and pink cards, anything heart shaped or patterned, baking, red lips, flowers and red and pink literally being everywhere. I am going to write a separate post on how I plan to spend Valentines this year ♥️
Red downtown girl:
I see the “Downtown” girls all over my Pinterest, and whilst I don’t live in a city, I’ve always admired their cool style and edgy but classic outfits. This month I really want to invest in a Red faux leather jacket and pair it with a pair of Mary Janes, I think that would look adorable for this time of year 💋
Clean girl:
Recent I’ve just been obsessed with the whole “Clean/It girl” aesthetic. It really motivates me and even just reading blogs, manifestation tips, and watching videos on it can inspire me. I’ve been loving red and pink self care items, lip gloss, cleansers etc, anything girly 🌹
And there you go!!
My aesthetics for this month 💋
I’m aiming to wear only the color-scheme of pink, red, white, cream and black this month, to really get into the Valentines mood. I am going to write out a separate post on Coquette February and Valentine’s Day, and the fashion that comes with them, but I hope you have enjoyed reading! I love you all so much, thank you for all of the love at this very loving time of year.
She wakes up early to read and journal, her TBR list is the longest it’s been in years. 2024 is her year. Indulging in self care after an afternoon of winter walks and pilates is her new favorite thing. 90’s blowout hair and fresh French-tip nails always, her mornings consist of cups of dark coffee, a tidy room and listening to her newly formed playlist. Her wardrobe this month is full of faux fur, whites, creams, grey’s and blacks. Cashmere scarfs, oversized sweaters and big black boots. Healthy meal preps, to-do lists and schedules have her week fully planned, with Sundays designated to her specifically. Comfort films, baking and winter naps. Her room is a sanctuary of cozy. Huge fluffy blankets, candles galore and warm fairy-lights for a nostalgic and comforting atmosphere. Her morning and night routine suit her needs, and excitement for the new year ahead radiates from her ˚ ༘♡ ·˚ ₊˚ˑ༄ؘ
Some tips on how to romanticise and give off coquette/studious girl vibes when in school <3
♡ Make your uniform look cute. (I’m going to write a separate post on this)
♡ Take cute, aesthetic notes. Pretty pages and notebooks fillllled to the brim with cute notes will make you want to study!
♡ Listen to music when you can, in the halls, after class, on the way to and from school. It really helps romanticising things. (Never forget your headphones bby!)
♡ Bring a book/read wherever you go. It makes you look so much smarter and more studious/mysterious. Bonus points if you read at lunch/in breaks
♡ Wear ribbons in your hair. They look so smart and are such a coquette staple. They make you look so classy too! Ahhhh perfect <3
♡ Do your homework when you get home. That way you have the rest of the afternoon/evening to relax, pamper and unwind.
♡ Get a cute schoolbag! You could decorate it with charms/badges and make it look really pretty
♡ Buy pastel and unique stationary. If it means spending a little more than you usually would, to make school materials more motivating to use then it’s so worth it!
♡ Get into a good routine (I’m going to write a separate post on this too) but a good routine will ensure you make the most out of, and have the best school days
♡ Always make sure you look clean, healthy and put-together for school/class
♡ Wear sweet and fresh smelling body sprays/perfume allll day long
♡ Wear a sparkling, plumping lipgloss!
♡ Use a sugary smelling handcream/lotion/hand sanitizer throughout the day to keep your hands soft and safe from school germs
♡ Surround yourself with good energy people. (I know these can be hard to find in an environment such as school) but don’t let people ruin your school life for you like I did. You only get one!
♡ Study and work hard. Being intelligent is attractive, gorgeous and most of all, one of the keys to success. So read your books, study to your hearts content and get the grades you deserve you gorgeous person.
I wish you all the most happy, beautiful and memorable school life ever. All my love, mwah! - Kellen ☕️
The ultimate guide to being coquette as a hijabi girlie
Being a coquette hijabi is so hard because so many of the key motifs (mini skirts/more revealing clothing, the literal meaning of the word, for example) go against what we believe in. But it's not impossible. So here are my personal favorite ways to be a coquette girlie without compromising my faith! (p.s thank you to @augusttheicedcoffeeaddict for reminding me to post this hehe ily)
Also!!! No hate to the coquette girlies who do wear mini skirts etc.
The white maxi skirt 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Mini skirts are a staple in so many coquette outfits and so many people will try to make you think maxi skirts aren't cute but they're just haters. A cute sweater + a pleated or tiered white maxi skirt + some crafty layering has been such a lifesaving formula for me. Blouses work great for this too. And the things you can put on top of a white maxi skirt are endless. Pretty blouses, mini dresses, sweaters, sweatshirts, even cute tshirts with long sleeved shirts underneath. Same goes for denim skirts. I'm looking for one right now and I can't find any I like, but once I do I'll be unstoppable.
Bowssss 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Bows. Bows are THE coquette accessory. And, thank god, you don't have to wear a mini skirt to wear bows!
Put them on literally everything. If you want to put them on your hijab, you can use a safety pin to put it on the back of your head, or you could do what I usually do, which is put them in my hijab pins. Depending on the size you can make it as subtle as you want. I have a pinterest tutorial here. (The pic on the left is me!)
Heart shaped sunglasses 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Another coquette/vintage americana staple you can wear!
Berets 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Same thing!
Fuzzy white earmuffs 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
These are SOSOSO perfect for winter. (pic on the left is me again heh)
At home 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
So far, this has all been stuff just in the context of going out in public. At home, I highly recommend doing you hair in a coquette way and wearing things you can only have on in front of family. It's such a confidence booster. It's a bit of effort but it's so so worth it!
Her bedroom is the window into the girl's soul 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
The coquette aesthetic is way more than just the clothes and hair. So if you really want to feel coquette, try and make your room as coquette as possible. Put up some coquette posters on your wall. A lot of coquette posters are haramcore and some people don't like putting up faces on their wall, so here are some really cute pics for inspo :3
What's in your bag? 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Purses can make or break a good outfit. My biggest tip is to match them to your hijab. It pulls it all together. The last thing you want is for your hijab to feel like it's clashing with the rest of the outfit.
What's inside is important too! Inner beauty isn't just for living things. Keep whatever essentials you already have, plus lipgloss, a compact mirror bc no one's out here trying to have a bad hijab day, and a little bit of ribbon. Trust me about the ribbon.
Shoes!!! 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Please don't wear a super cute coquette outfit and then wear tennis shoes. Just don't. Mary janes, Doc M's, and ballet flats are all really good choices.
Ik I probably sound like I'm obsessing over tiny things, but you kinda have to bc when you're breaking the mold every little thing matters.
Lastly <3 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Last but not least, do not ever ever let people make fun of you. If you're a hijabi coquette girlie, you probably have some form of a muslim community, and they probably won't dress in your style. That was my case, and when I first started wearing mary janes and lace gloves I got SO made fun of. Not from the adults, but from my friends. One girl called my mary janes dorky and said they annoyed her every time she saw them. I think she expected me to laugh, but you just have to keep a straight face and say to their face that you thought that was rude. She never called me dorky again 🤷♀️
Take this post as a reminder that you can stay true to your faith while looking fabulous. If you have any questions pls pls feel free to ask anything. Ily all honeys, bye ♡
