As it's May 4th for most of you, I thought I would post a series of photos relating one of my favorite parts of Star Wars: The Battle of Hoth! I've only gotten to the point just before Luke escapes the Wampa cave--time and imagination permitting, more to come? Golden Week is almost over. :-(

My little tribute to Peter Mayhew, who brought so much life to Chewie and Star Wars. Wherever he is, may the Force be with him.

Sorry about this. It’s late where I am. I worked a lot. I had to have some fun at the end of the day...unlike poor Bobba, of course. ;-)

Well, goodnight, troopers--I leave you with this little non-masterpiece, “Reverse Galactic Oreo,” from my burgeoning collection of pityingly amateurish Star Wars fig art. Yes, the Shadow Trooper (EU, not the canon version, I believe) is by the looks of it just a repaint of the original Takara Tomy figure. But he’s badass anyway.

I call this whole set “Deathstar Approach,” based on...do I REALLY have to explain? Anyway, everything is done with my models/figures, etc. owned by moi and assisted by some good public domain sources (not any Star Wars stuff)--it was hell to get the Falcon to fly into the Deathstar’s open maw, but I think it worked.

I call this one “Hoth the Beaten Path.” Let’s have some sympathy for stormtroopers who’re freezing their butts off keeping the galaxy free of riff-raff, shall we? ;-)

As a kid living in New Mexico, my absolute fave Star Wars scene was the moment when Luke squints over the ridge at the twin suns. The look on his face perfectly mirrored my own emotions growing up, the sense that I absolutely needed to escape and experience something...larger! Well, I did, but I still find myself going back to those 1st scenes. Here’s my recreation of the landspeeder in the desert, minus Luke himself. I will do that if I can figure out how. “Figure” out...see what I did there? ;-)

Is this thing on?
Hey everybody, totally new to Tumblr, testing whether this ends up on my blog! I’m an American expat living in Japan. Outside of my day job as a freelance translator & copywriter, I scratch out sci-fi stories and spend entirely too much time photographing my collection of Star Wars figs, which are mostly Japanese. Oh, and there’s actually enjoying the country I call home somewhere in there, too. ;-) Planning to exhibit those 3 passions (writing, Star Wars & Japan) here. Just FYI, I’m not really a cartoon goat. ;-)

Friday night means many things to many people. Sometimes, for me, it’s a chance to play around on the Deathstar! Hope you enjoy this silliness as much as I do, much more to come. -YG
