I don't like this idea I sometimes see in fanon/discourse that the Jedi encouraged or taught the clones to be individuals and if not for the Jedi this wouldn't have happened.

The clones are individuals.

It's an inherent fact.

Like irl identical twins/triplets/etc have the same DNA and they are obviously individual people. It's the same for the clones. You wouldn't say that twins only have distinct personalities, opinions and such if their parents encourage it. The same way you wouldn't say that about non-twin siblings, or just any person. Because appearance and genetics do not define who a person is, for anyone.

And in-narrative their individuality is an inherent fact too, in that they are all unique in the Force.

The Jedi may have helped the way the clones view themselves in a self-worth sense, their leadership may have allowed for more expression by not restricting it, but they didn't create that individuality.

Treat them like individuals and value their lives as such, yes. Make them into individuals and teach them how to be individuals, no.

And the first thing he thinks of is a little orange sun

They didn't NEED to have a named clone with a sun painted on his armor and two (2!) antennas attached to it in Revenge of the Sith OR TCW ('03). They didn't need to give him lines that endeared us to him like that, for as little screentime as he had .But they did

Idk man, I think that for me, in my head, a core feature of Cody and his relationship with Obi Wan is that he is, in fact, very young. And I don’t mean to say that in an infantilizing way, because his emotional regulation and reasoning etc are that of an adult, but even then he’s the equivalent of a 20 year old. He’s really young and he has a limited experience of the world and he has a lot of responsibilities and I think Obi Wan is always going to be aware of that about him. And I know I’m going at least somewhat against the grain because I can see there are approximately a thousand fics of Cody being Obi Wan’s caretaker. but I really think Obi Wan (who first of all is not incapable of self-care) would be quite conscious of his burdens and if anything would be ready to offer guidance and support.
