Delays
So my headphones stopped working recently and I tried fixing them, but did not really have much luck with that. So it might be a little bit before I post another review, because I usually listen to an album a few times and I don’t want to annoy my roommates as well as it makes it easier to hear whats going on as apposed to my laptop speakers.

Review schedule
So I have been doing some thinking that I need to get on a schedule with how I publish reviews. I feel like once a week would be good enough, with maybe some smaller impromptu reviews scattered throughout as well as the occasional comedic re-post, best day for me would be Saturday so expect something around then.

Primitive and Deadly by Earth
I said I was going to review some of the new albums I got so here I am again almost a week later for my second review, this time of Earths eighth album Primitive and Deadly. I did just get this album and have not had enough time to let it mull over and sink in, to really understand the music to its fullest. However despite this its really clicking with me, and I am a fan of Earth so I know a bit about what the band is all about. To be completely honest though I have not listened to the entirety of their discography as I did with my last artist that I reviewed as I have not listened to Angels of Darkness and Demon’s of light Part One and Two yet. Overall it is a solid album that incorporates some of the harder drone of their earlier albums to some extent as its a little bit more distorted than their from what I last heard from them. Though to be fair the last album I listened to was The Bee’s Made Honey in the Lion’s Skull, which had a western vibe to it. It also incorporates  some of the psychedelic rock tunes of their later works. As always Earth does an excellent job at creating a vast soundscape that places you in the center of harsh field where you feel both at home and lost amazed by the sights before you, but also perplexed and fearful of the sights before you. The mixing on this album is also divine with each instrument popping out just enough to be appreciated, but they all share the same spaces creating a flow of sound that envelops you. As for the lyrical content there is not much as Earth is an instrumental band that every now and then contains some vocals, and for this album the tracks There is a Serpent Coming and From the Zodiacal Light, featuring Mark Lanegan and Rabia Shaheen Qazi respectively. Each of them provide great work and its adds greatly to the experience of the album as a whole, its like you are in a mystical barren land, and by happen stance you come across two people who offer you strange and foreboding messages about a strange beast and a darkness over the land and soul, but they don’t last long fading out as quickly as they faded in. I do offer this album a lot of praise, but there are a few negatives that at least I personally have with it. probably the biggest is the song structure and how each tracks transitions into the other one. Its great for an overall album experience, but as for individual tracks it leaves some parts feeling samey, but its not really even that big of a complaint because it just means that you have to listen to the album in its entirety I feel, rather than a few select songs. Great album I recommend it if you want to listen to something atmospheric, but I’m a little torn between a final score thinking maybe a 7.5 possibly an 8 out of ten, for right now I’d saw 7.5/10 but in all likely hood I’ll probably bump it up to an 8 after a few listen, but who knows. As always here is a sample of the album, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duAVK5rD2D8&list=PLwPBM4hpb3mPH4t9qBx36-flyDq0A37Zv

Sing review, because its a movie about music and I saw it so why not, the review.
Hey I know I said this was a blog about music reviews, but this movie features a lot of music so I’ll give a few brief thoughts on it. I didn’t really expect much from it because if I’m being honest I’m not really a huge Illumination fan, they have some decent movies, but they don’t get me that riled up. Overall it was a pretty good movie and there were some parts that were fairly entertaining. Some of the positives of the movie are the cast of characters they are all interesting and fun to watch. The singing is great which is important since that is the premise of the entire film, so it keeps you watching and enjoying nearly every minute of it, I would say that there was not one singer that I was not impressed by, My favorite however would be a tie between the gorilla, the elephant, and the mouse, whom is voiced by Seth MacFarlane. I know it cool to talk crap about Seth and Family Guy, but if were being honest here he has a great singing voice, and perfectly fits the character who despite being a jerk has a few good character traits. The animation is not bad and fits with the ascetic of this talking animal movie, and has some good character designs. As for the negatives of this film the biggest flaw is that there are to many characters that they are trying to focus on and flesh out. They all get a decent amount of screen time and are fleshed out well enough, but I never really got drawn into the characters because there just wasn’t enough for me to relate to, my favorite character was the gorilla however and I would have loved to see a movie that focused solely on him. Aside from that the story was a bit predictable, and didn’t take that many risks. Overall it was a cute movie with likable characters, and good songs. I say its worth checking out at least once, but like Lewtoons said its probably not something that you might not want to watch again. I give the move a 5.5/10, also go check out Lewtoons over on the youtube if you want to see an actually good movie review for the two people who follow me.

Just heard
Just listened to the album Apart by I am a field of burning orchids, and it was a really good album. I will do a more in depth review at a later date, after I give it a few more listens just to let it sink in, but I was just so impressed and enthralled drawn into the soundscape that I needed to let you all know about this album. If you like instrumental artists that create a melancholic ocean of sound you will love this album. Personaly I lost meself in it, and felt like I was apart of some other world.

Wolf by Tyler, the Creator
I’ve been a fan of Tyler since Bastard which I might do a review of at some point, but I will try to look at this on its own merit. Overall a solid album, the production is spot on, and the tracks transition fairly well. The beats are solid, but some of them are a bit campy, and almost all of them have a nostalgic tone to them, the one that strikes me as the most nostalgic is the track awkward. I mentioned that some of the beats are a bit campy and some times goofy. I feel that they are meant to be like that on such as tamale or jamba, and especially trashwang and I think that they work if that is what he was going for. However it also adds some dissonance as there are some more serious tracks on the album, like answer, cowboy, and ifhy, as well as some down right haunting tracks like party isn’t over/campfire/bimmer. But overall it shows that Tyler can experiment with different types of subject matters and emotions and showcases his lyrical styles. Which I feel he has plenty of lyrical talent, is the best new rapper out there right now? Not really, but he is certainty no where near the worst. Personally I feel he is up there, he has talent, has good flow and rhythm, but he touches on darker subjects that can be very off putting to a lot of listeners and he has received criticism for that before. Some people might say he is being edgy, but I believe that he is showcasing the human condition, we all have dark thoughts sometimes, and we need to let it out as long as we don’t act on them. So some of you might be turned away by his music but I think that if you can look past it you will find an enjoyable album. my score for this album would have to be a 7/10. If you want what Tyler sounds like here is a link, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lDqMx4rmFU
