They’re a little goofy and puffy but still super cute and it wouldn’t be hard at all to swap the black for darker blue or whatever, to make it more cohesive.

Quick brush marker sketch playing around with the idea of Mint having a more ballet-inspired look; it’s always bugged me that her little minidress wouldn’t suit her dancing. Tokyo Mew Mew New only made the skirt slightly less tight, which I don’t think solves that problem but with the mini hoop skirt they gave Pudding it decreases Mint’s differentiation. Poor rich baby bird!

So her strapless bodycon dress is now a sleeveless leotard with a wrap skirt over it, and lil’ warmup ballet boots because omg they are perfect. Plus I like the idea of a silly transformation where her ballet shoes appear and then the boots magically form over them, like how the senshi get nail polish but wear gloves. Other changes include a thinner neck ribbon and her hair magically floating up into her buns, because who wants hair in their mouth while dancing or fighting?

Quick chibi of Chihiro from Phantom of the Black Rose Review being DETERMINED about something. Bit of a style homage to Megan Simko, whose fanart, especially her KiSS dolls, were a big influence on my adolescent art growth.

I feel like Chihiro is close to what the answer would be to “what if Minako had Michiru’s circumstances growing up?”

What if instead of having a weathered down version of Mint’s dress, Mew Pudding had a sheer hoop skirt over a shorts romper, very clowncore? Also what if she had knee pads and wrist guards as part of her outfit?

(The five toe shoes nobody asked for but you know Purin would love them.)
