Aspidelaps - to clarify the lil swirls on his face is blush btw. Anyway i struggled between basing his design off ringtails or some sort of cobra but i went with cobras, specifically thr genus aspidelaps (i think those r cobras?) hence his name. Aspidelaps was raised in the rainforest by an elderly rainwing couple who’ve adopted an army of children besides him so he grew up with a lot of company alll the time. The scar on his face is from an encounter with a panther when he was you ger. Ouchi 😔. He left home at a fairlyy young age (9) and lives in Sanctuary now working as a chef and trying to learn scavenger language or whatever its called. He gets very easily flustered and angry but he has friends to help him. He’s happy :D

Bongo - based her off the animal bongos. I saw an image call bongos the fashionistas of the desert for a split second and rolled with it for her. She was raised off the coast of the kingdom of sand with her parents in their lil house. She broke her right wing vrry badly in an accident and they went to the acoepion den to find a doctor. They spent a week or so there before the doctors said the wing couldn’t be saved and they’d have to amputate it, so they did that. Bongos family moved into the acorpion den afterwards and shortly after Bongo was inspired to pursue music. Now as an adult shes a famous singer in tge scorpion den and all across western pyrrhia

Perdita - ill admit i got lazy with perdita.. sorry girl ill consider redesigning you in the far future. Shes kinda based off giraffes honestly and no insects whatsoever and i just picked out a random bug for her name. Mostly because i refused to look at pictures of bees or anything gor inspo becaude i woulf not be able to handle that i would absolutely freak out. Her wing webbing is thin like hivewing wings but her wing structure isnt made to fly with that so she cant rlly fly without tearing her wings severely. No dont pay attention to how her outer wings are full opacity STOP IT. Perdita was born in pantala in one of the hives idk or care which it doesnt matter, and spent most of her childhood livinh with her hivewing mother and her three siblings. Her sandwing father visited evefy few months from pyrrhia. Her family moved to pyrrhia when she was 5 to live with the father in a house near the great five-tail river i think thats what its called. When she was like 11 or something (still living with her family) she decided to go to Renewal to help with a large archive being built thrrr idk im not going into detaol. Now she works at said archive doing whatever people that work at archives do i dunno

Celastrina - doubtlessly my favorite out of the batch i rlly like her design, which is based off the celastrina echo whivh i thiink is a butterfly? Idk might be something else like a moth but anyway. Celastrina was hatched in sanctuary to a silkwing mother who was desperate to get off pantala and a ceramicist sandwing father who had found her mother hopelessly lost off the coast of the kingdom of sand. Celastrina was hatched a few years after that encounter alongside one older sibling. She grew up in Sanctuary and still lives there, caring for her fathers parents alongside her parents. She makes custom ceramics sometimes and sells them, and loves collecting tgings. She has a collection of preserved flowers, a beetle collection, probably a rock collection too, yadayada buncha other stuff

Globemallow - i got rlly lazy with this guy too mb. I couldve done a lot better with his color palette and overall design but whatever im not redesigning him any time soon. His leafwing fathrr had left pantala to see pyrrhia and ended up staying in the rainforest kingdom since it was essentially the poison jungle but hundrrdds of times better. Hed met globemallows mother there, a florist sandwing whod been visiting the rainforest to collect flowers. Blablabla they get married and live in the rainforest together and have Globemallow. Globemallow left the rainforest when he was 12 ish around tgat age and went to tge sky kingdom to become an artisan blacksmith and sell commissioned metalwork

Also just now noticing that there might be confusion abt timeline stuff for these guys. Just to clarify, most of them are all born at different time periods, some might be born before the ss war, some after book 15, bla bla bla

Milkbush - inspired by the desert plant milkbush (or pencil cactus idk it has a lot of names). Originallyy i was gonna do the spiky pattern thing everywhere but then i got tired and simplified it. I accidentally made him like super green and i think he fits sandleaf way more than sandsand but whatever. Green sandwings are neat anyways. He’s like a traveling merchant who collects or steals thinhs from acroas the continent and then sells them elsewhere. His earring is a sun btw

Javelina - my (second) favorite <3 she was kicked out of her home and banished from the mud kingdom at a young age for accidentally (?) killinh the heir (hinestly not that big a deal cuz theres so many other potential heirs but whatev) and went to the rainforest kingdom instead. Now she teaches rainwing dragonets how to read and write and fly and stuff. Yay

Pyrrhuloxia - based off a funky lil bird with a funky name (pyrrhuloxia). Grew up in the scorpion den mid-succession war but ran away very young when her father tried selling her off to Burn’s evil evil weirdling tower. Sought refuge in the claws of the clouds mountains, almost got killed by skywing soldiers, and then hid in a lil pine forest to bleed out and die. That didnt happen tho cuz a very kind skywing civilian nearby saved her yay so kind! Few months pass, they fall in love, move to the sky kingdom bla bla bla whatever. They have an egg, everyones happy BOOM some fucking skywing soldier kills her husband and unborn child and almost her but she fights back and tries to kill them but they fly away. To this day shes still trying to find them

Verbena - my actual favorite i lav her so mucj.. she used to he a seamstress for the seawing royal family before the summer palace was attacked, then she decided she needed to help her tribe somehow and volunteered to be an assassin. Of sorts. During the rest of the war she went about pyrrhia killing semi-important skywing and (burn’s) sandwimg military figures via poison and other methods but mostly poison, all while being exttemely fashionable like look at her eyeliner do you SEE her eyeliner. After the war (she was somehow never caught by the opposing sides?) she decided to do some traveling to see the world and stuff and now sells a bunch of fancy clothing and fabrics as she hops between kingdoms

Parhelion - ive wanyed to use this name for an ivewing character for so long you dont underrstand… parhelion grew up in an oasis near the sea in the kingdom of sand wogh his two sandwing aunts and three cousins, very sheltered young life and stuff, grew up learning to swim and fish yadayada. Comes home one night from fishing when hes like young adult age and OH MY GOD MY HOUSE IS ON FIRE yeah his house burnt down. Prob one of his cousins fault idk but he panics. Two of his cousins and one of his aunts are already out snd theyre tryna use the oasis water to put the fire out but it is not working the entire house is aflame. Parhelion runs in to try and save his other aunts and cousin. His second aunt is very much already dead and burnt to ashes when he finds her, but he manages to get out his very injured cousin. Said cousin dies a few days later from the burns (yikes) and the remaining family mourns for a while before moving into the scorpion den because their house is gone. Skip a few years now Parhelion is a big boy and lives separate from his family (still in the scorpion den though). He works as the apprentice of a weaponsmith and is very happy yayy

Ning Yingying with a greatsword is so natural to me I forget it's not real and they all have the same basic slim swords. I can imagine young yingying with such clarity struggling to even swing something so heavy and needing to stop after 30 seconds because her sword is like half her weight but she refuses to get a normal sword and shen jiu lets her do whatever the fuck she wants.

She's a bumbling idiot who constantly falls over when the weight of her sword gets too heavy for her and half the time she almost kills someone losing control of it. Then when she's grown up she can handle it like it weighs nothing and everyone is so scared of this cute woman with her hundred pound sword that can break apart the hardest stone with one swing

ok picture this. Zaun Viktor. Hes Singeds apprentice because of course he is its kinda cliche now. Mermaid jayce. Except hes not like one of those pretty colorful mermaids hes more like the uhh. Creature monsters that silco likes to stare at. In the pilt river or whatever its called. When the explosion thing happens from act 1 a fuckton of debris ends up in the river and jayce gets injured by it one way or another. Viktor finds him washed up somewhere unconscious a few days after the explosion (or just one day or immediately after i dunno) and considers taking it to singed but goes “mm no hell dissect it on sight” so instead drags him off to. Somewhere? Idk somewhere safe ish and tends to him. Uh yeah ok thats all i thought of i just needed to write this down
