Silco x Reader Drabble: Family

"You can choose family. And I don't choose you!"

The words rang out toward your mother before you could even process them, along with a slurry of other sharp statements from her end, notably something about having no support in the future. Slamming the door behind you, the roaring fire between your ribs hardly dares to return to mere embers. The door opens as quickly as you had shut it, quiet but speedy footsteps tracing the path down the steps you're storming from.

"Hey, wait." Silco reaches out, catching up and placing a guardian hand on your shoulder despite the huffing breaths and feral anger you possess. "Shh, listen. You wont be alone-"

"What?" You all but bark out, eyes narrowed in a searing gaze at the space on the wall behind him.

"I heard what you said, about being alone in the future. But you're right. You can choose family. And I chose mine, a long time ago." His seafoam gaze bores into your own, searching for something he doesn't even need to find. "You wont be alone, you're right there with me - unconditionally. I promise."

You stare at him for a while, scowl softening into a small, concentrated frown, his words forcing you to absorb more emotion than you can take in, the excess threatening to pour out in tears. "...thank you." You whisper, just as his arms pull you in. The feel of his leather jacket, the mine-sweat, his comforting grasp - you'll never get sick of it. Even as your world crashes down around you.

His seafoam eye shoots open, matching the intensity of his firey left orb as he looks around the room on instinct. You're still sleeping soundly in his arms, breath fanning softly against his chest. His shoulders relax.

With a soft, mildly frustrated sigh, he pushes back his salt-and-pepper hair from his forehead with his free hand, resting back against the pillow. With the years has come trauma, but at least one thing remains consistent.

The comforting weight of his family next to him, staving off the worst aspects that lay in the dark.

Thinking about Young! Silco x F!reader being caught...

Silco's hand cups her head tighter, slender fingers twisting around locks of hair as he presses firmer into his lover's kiss. A low rumble channels from somewhere in the back of his throat, caught between the slew of slowly-intensifying kisses, ignorant to the world outside of the alleyway. Ignorant to the dimming night, to the time, to the Last Drop's impending opening hours...

The click of the back door echoes like a warning in the coal-coloured alley, giving both of them enough time only to pull back; their arms are still wrapped around each other with a finality, eyes locked in wide panic. Vander's voice rings out.

"Silco, I was-"

His partner almost snorts at the look of abject horror on Silco's face, her eyes instinctively darting away both in awkwardness and to force down a laugh, the tension prompting her fingers to curl tighter in his bun-tied black locks.

"....nevermind." Vander muses. Silco's back being to him, he can only guess at the smirk on the larger man's face by the telling laughter underlying his deep voice. The door swings shut with a creak, leaving them in a silence that pieces the world back together.

"..." Silco stares at her, and she stares back at Silco for a beat before a reluctant snicker leaves her lips. At the sight of her lip curling, he huffs, pushing his bangs back from his face like it lessens the affect of his averted gaze. Though his pale hands refuse to leave the girl's waist absent, splaying over the dip of her hip like a grounding force. When his voice sounds, it's almost too casual for the environment - and for the pink tinting his high cheekbones.

"You still staying tonight?"

[Anyways this is so short BUT I will write more Petrichor soon I promise!! I relapsed real bad into an illness and I've been having crazy creators block, but I needed to get this out of my brain, you know?]

I know that fucking NOTHING in this show is strictly canon where Silco is concerned bc of plotholes (fun) but I really assumed he didn't have eyelids to close on his left side...

the reason silco’s eye is closed in this scene is because jinx manually closed them herself. that shot from the storyboard just didn’t make the final cut.

jinx does this whenever she kills someone, according to her diary.

I was just looking to confirm if it was an animator error or not and now I’m gonna walk into the ocean
