Ranpo grew tired of waiting for Poe to confess first. So, the next day Ranpo decided he was going to confess!

Poe didn't come to the ADA that day.

Ranpo didn't think too much of it, sometimes Poe would get caught up with writing and wouldn't come in no biggie.

Even if something did feel off.

The next day Poe hadn't shown up again, Ranpo knew something was up, the bad feeling from the day before had gotten worse, so much worse. As Ranpo was about to leave to Poes house Fukuzawa came in and announced that Poe had passed away the previous night.

Ranpo knew he should've gone to see Poe the day before because of the bad feeling he had. He knows if he would've gone Poe would still be alive and he would still get see him all the time, and read his manuscripts, and just get to be in his presence again.

But what ifs and should haves aren't enough to bring Poe back.

Poe and Ranpo shared one class together, English.

After getting situated and they were given time to work by themselves Ranpo and Poe would start talking about school, their lives outside of school, and other personal things.

Ranpo always did most of the talking, Poe didn't mind, not at all. Hearing Ranpo talk about himself was very interesting, hearing the change in his voice whenever he spoke about something he was infatuated with or something that he had a strong sense of dislike towards.

Poe was never really good at eye contact but Ranpos eyes were just so inviting that he couldn’t help but stare at them. Watching how they always looked a bit tired and bored but at the mentions of his father and his best friend they seem to get a bit wider and lively. Or when he spoke about his favorite crime documentaries.

At random points in the day he always goes back to thinking about Ranpos eyes. He describes them, their color, their shape, their feel. He describes how they look when he speaks on different topics. Although his voice can be described as bored Poe thinks that he voice is very descriptive when speaking. His eyes tell more, Poe thinks.

Poes a writer, when he describes Ranpo it sounds as if he's describing the worlds most beautiful artifact, or perhaps a jewel, or a painting. But it is neither of those things. The one he is describing is none other than the boy who sits next to him in English that he is so hopelessly in love with.

Pages and pages of just him. Drawing after drawing, erased lines, colored in, some discarded because they didn’t bring out his beauty. He was his muse for years, he drew him day after day.

His rival was his muse although he was never sure why he couldn’t seem to get the other out of his mind. He convinced himself it was purely because he had to best him in anything and everything.

Though the years to come proved otherwise. It wasn’t because he needed to beat him. It was because he admired him, deep down he knew that but didn’t want to admit it. So now here he is talking to his rival about the most trivial things. He was confused and wanted to walk away, but he couldn’t he was drawn in by the warm sound of his voice, the slight up turn of his lips, his half open eyes, his carefree energy he seemed to have in any situation.

Something about him seemed so inviting. He never once thought about being able to relax or be as carefree as the other boy, it never once crossed his mind that he was able to do such things, not now, no then, not ever..

But maybe he could? The other seemed to relax him, how? He doesn’t know, he doesn’t bother thinking about it too much either he doesn’t focus on anything else but the sound of the others voice and the warm atmosphere.

Maybe his rival isn’t what he will call the other boy now, acquaintance is more accurate. Friends seems to familiar he thinks. The idea of calling him his friend is a nice one though. Maybe one day he’ll be able to call him his friend.

What if Ranpo was the first to fall in love first. He fell in love first because he couldn’t forget Poe, the first person to give him chills and someone he thought was a good detective.

And what if Poe was just genuinely excited about having a rival. Ranpo knew this but he couldn’t help himself from falling in love with Poe even if he knew Poe didn’t like him back.

Poe eventually found out, and Ranpo knows he knows so he takes a risks and asks Poe out on a date. Poe says yes *he wants to see what’ll happen if he’ll catch feelings for Ranpo or not, he also thinks the thought is enjoyable.*

They had a very enjoyable date. They went on a few more and Poe had started to develop feelings for Ranpo, Ranpo was happy about this. Although it took Poe a bit of time to realize his feelings for Ranpo. But once he did they had started dating.

All’s well that ends well. :)

Poes mother used to love the snow and winter. Now that she’s gone Poe likes to grab a chair take a seat by the window and just admire all the snow falling down.

Sometimes he’ll talk because he knows she’s around listening and watching with him just like she did when he was younger. Poe does this every winter, he sits by a window with some warm coffee, admiring the falling snow, and talks about how he’s been, what he plans on writing, and what the future might hold for him.

After Poe’s done talking, he bids his mother farewell, tell her how much he misses her, and wishes her a lovely peaceful rest.

For all the horrible things Poes foster father has said to and about him not once could he actually say he hated him. He didn’t. He disliked him, didn’t feel comfortable around him. But not once did he hate him.

Poes father liked to yell a lot, he was loud he voiced his opinions without thinking of what might happen, Poes father wasn’t a coward he stood his ground, and he was a strong willed man. Poe admired that about him, but that didn’t mean he loved him either.

He didn’t like how he treated him, even if it was his way of showing he cared, his words just came out harsher than intended. Poe knew this. Poe didn’t blame him though, he was raised that way. Poe also didn’t like how he spoke to his mother sometimes. It was also harsh, his father would end up apologizing sometime later but that didn’t mean Poe liked it. He also didn’t like how he was so quick to judge others and criticize them but never take criticism himself. But that didn’t mean he hated his father.

The day Poe found out his father had died he didn’t know what to feel. Should he mourn? Feel like it was a strangers death? Act as if nothing happened? One would think with the way his father treated him he wouldn’t mourn, but he did. No matter what his father had told him it helped him, in some sort of way. The criticism helped Poe grow and he was grateful for it. His father helped him with improving his writing even if the methods seemed a little harsh.

So yes, Poe thinks he has all the reason to mourn the death of his father. He raised him as much as his mother did. They had different methods but they both did raise him. He’s mourning the loss of his parent.

He cried that same night he had gotten the call, he cried because he didn’t know his father was sick at all. If he did he might have called or maybe gone to see him in the hospital but it’s too late now.

Poe went to his fathers funeral, he shed tears there too. His mother went, if he didn’t know how much she loved him he would’ve been surprised. They mourned together.

One mourning the loss of a father, and the other the loss of a lover.

After Poe went back to Yokohama he hung up the only picture he had of the three of them smiling.

Although Poes father could be an asshole he wasn’t the worst man to ever exist. He had his good times, and he had his bad times. He wasn’t the nicest but Poe wouldn’t have want anyone else to have been his father.

So no, Poe doesn’t hate his father, but he doesn’t love him either. He dislikes and he likes him. And that’s all there is to it.

Poe loves Disney movies.

Poe has Disney marathons quite often whether it be him by himself or with Lucy. Poes favorite Disney movies are Pinocchio and Hocus Pocus. He used to watch Hocus Pocus all the time with his foster mother whenever Halloween came around.

His mother loved Hocus Pocus she would have Poe watch it with her every year. He never actually really liked the movie itself but he liked seeing the happy look on her face when they watched it together. So now he watches it every year on Halloween with a bowl of candy and a cheesy costume smiling and remembering how much fun him and his mother used to have.

Some of Poes other favorite movies from Pixar/Disney are Toy Story 2, Halloween Town, all of them! And the Nightmare Before Christmas. (He actually doesn’t like Halloween all that much except for the decorations, because the big crowds are really loud and he’s afraid he’ll get lost) Also really enjoyed, My Babysitters a Vampire, very upset when it got canceled. (Very much so projecting. I don’t care though it needs to be said!!)

Poe also really loves the soundtracks to, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King!!!

Bonus: Lucy’s favorite Disney movie is Alice and the Wonderland the original better than the live action version. Her favorite character is the Mad Hatter. Although she really likes how he looks in the in real life version.

Poe’s a plant father. He likes to have a room full of plants in his house because it’s sort of a reminder that he needs to take a break from writing since he tends to writes for long periods of time. Poe first started taking care of plants after the guild incident.

He takes quite a lot of pride in his plants. Poe thinks they’re all beautiful.

When Poe first started growing/buying plants he got a specific flower because it reminded him of his foster mother.

Hellebores.

Winter was his mothers favorite season, so since hellebores typically bloom around mid winter he thought they would be perfect to represent her. More so because although they may look delicate they’re quite tough.

Poe thinks it’s a perfect description of his mother. She was a very soft spoken woman, with delicate features, but she would always stand her ground and was very stubborn and would yell if she needed (this wasn’t very often though). She was also very brave. Poe admired her for her confidence.

So yes, Poe thinks Hellebores are a perfect flower to associate with his mother.

When Poe and his foster parents used to live in England they lived near a forest that had quite a few butterflies. Poe liked to walk through the forest often because he didn’t like being in the house, his foster father would work from home so he was home a lot while his mother was out working or buying necessities. So he felt the forest was a nice escape.

Karl also enjoyed the forest he liked the smell and was able to run around. Poe made a habit out of going into the forest purely to watch the butterflies. They were beautiful each and everyone of them. Poe used to pick one butterfly and describe how it looked in words, it was to help with his writing. It helped a lot.

He took his mother there one day, she loved it. She thought it was nice Poe had found a place to feel relaxed and have some what a peace of mind since he couldn’t have that in the house. She was happy, and so was Poe.

Now that he lives in Yokohama he thought about having a butterfly sanctuary since he has quite a few plants now, but decided against it. He found the real reason he loved butterflies so much was because they were free to go wherever they’d like. He wouldn’t want to take that freedom away from them.

Poe head canon week commence!

Okay so I think I am going to do a week of just posting my Poe head canons but I cannot guarantee that they will all be happy. Some might be happy with a little angst and some might just be happy another my just be angst or bittersweet so just a heads up for all of you :P

Wondering if I should do a whole week of just posting my Poe head canons. Like every day a Poe head canon. I kind of want to if I’m being honest.

Poe and Ranpo go on dates everyday. Even if it’s a trip to the grocery store they call it a date. Going for a walk? It’s a date. Going to the doctors? Okay! It’s a date we can grab lunch after! Is what Ranpo always says. Poe agrees because how could he say no to a date with his darling Ranpo.

They call anything they do together a date. It’s cute how they never seem to get tired of calling everything and anything a date.

Sometimes they go on what people call a formal date, some lunch or dinner. Sometimes Poe will cook something for Ranpo and sometimes Ranpo will try to cook for Poe. Sometimes they cook together and call that their date because they tend to get distracted by one another and start dancing and singing together. Sometimes they’ll even forget about the food and just dance enjoying the others embrace.

Sometimes while Poe writes and Ranpo sits there eating or taking a nap they’ll call it a date. Poe reading to Ranpo is also a date.

Them slow dancing? A date! Them singing together? A date! Anything and everything is a date to those two.

They go on dates everyday, they spend a lot of time together. They love every single one of their dates.

But if they had to choose they’d say their favorite dates are when they cuddle while drinking some warm coffee and hot chocolate with Karl in their laps while listening to the rain fall. It’s silent expect for their breathing and the rain or Poes casual humming of the song his mother used to sing to him when he was younger or Ranpo humming the tune.

Those dates are their favorite.

Poe likes to take Ranpo places. He likes to take him places he thinks are pretty and would be relaxing. But no matter where Poe takes Ranpo it’s always somewhere with a special reasoning behind it.

Sherman’s Garden for example. Poe took Ranpo there once for vacation because he used to go there with his parents all the time and it held some of his happiest memories with his parents there. Poe wanted to create more happy memories with his new family.

Poe took Ranpo to go butterfly watching because of when he used to live in England and he would use the forest to help escape from his home life. The butterflies helped with his descriptive words and brought him a sense of comfort.

They also remind him of his mother of when she would go sit with him in the forest and listen to him rant about the different types of butterflies he had seen. She would also listen to him describe them and offer new words.

Every place Poe takes Ranpo has a meaning behind it. Ranpo knows this very well, Poe never has to directly tell him because he knows Ranpo knows. Ranpo knows by the way Poe speaks about these places and the way he has this far off look in his eyes when he looks and speaks about them.

So Ranpo never has to ask because he knows, and he knows if Poe were to want to explain the details he would. So until Poe wants to Ranpo’ll wait to hear them. For now Ranpo’s content with Poe sharing these beautiful and meaningful places with him.

They’re so in love it makes me sick but I also envy them because it’s a type of love that you don’t need to see the physical affection side of to know how deeply they love each other. You can tell by hearing them speak to or about each other.

Ranpo always sounds so excited when talking about Poe. He doesn’t have his usual bored or childish demeanor when talking about him. He always has the widest grin with his eyes a bit open but not fully. With pure admiration and love in his voice.

When Poe talks to or about Ranpo he talks softer than his usual voice, with eyes that light up and a fond smile on his face. He has pure love and adoration laced his in voice when speaking.

And when they look at each other. Their eyes are always softer and brighter when staring at one another. The looks of pure bliss when the other talks about something they enjoy or excited about something.

The smiles they give each other. The fond ones. The soft ones. The happy ones. The playful teasing ones. The smirks.

You see them and you can just tell by the atmosphere around them that they are so completely and utterly in love with one another.

It’s cute, you don’t see couples like them often. Ones who love each other like it’s their last day on earth. Ones who see their love and only their love. The couples who only have one single love in their life, and that being the one they are with already. Ones who look at each like they’re engraving ever single one of theirs features in their mind like they won’t ever see them again.

They’re the couple who in any life they will always find a way back to each other and have a new life together with new stories to add to their collection full of the ones they’ve already written together.

Racer AU

Poe would be a very talented racer but never spoke to the reporters and such because he didn’t like all the cameras and flashing lights and the crowds were always huge. Ranpo talks to them and everytime he always has this bored look on his face.

They met after one of Ranpos races because Poe went with Lucy to go see and Poe had gotten separated from Lucy and got crowded by a bunch of reporters and had started panicking. Ranpo went and shooed them away. He also thought they were stupid since it was obvious Poe was uncomfortable and panicking and they kept asking him questions and getting closer.

After that Poe and Ranpo had a mutual admiration for each other. They didn’t see each other often but when they did they always went and got lunch together

Fukuzawa is Ranpos teacher

Poe was always interested in racing but his foster father said it’s something that he shouldn’t do because it was a waste of time and not a real career path. His mother told him if he really did want to do it he should.

He ended finding a guy who would race while he was on vacation in Italy and he taught Poe the basics Poe caught on pretty fast and he did it for fun for a while. Poe got a professional teacher who taught him more details on it later on. It was the italian guys teacher.

Poe later on went professional! His mother was very supportive while his father voiced his disapproval. But to Poe that didn’t matter he had his mothers support and that’s all that mattered. She goes to his races when she can and she watches on TV when she’s unable to go in person.

I head canon Poe can sing. So sometimes when he’s playing the piano for Ranpo it’ll be a song that describes how he feels for Ranpo so Poe’ll start singing it and Ranpo is very much so in love. He thinks Poes voice is beautiful, Ranpo loves Poes voice a lot.

Poe also hums to himself when he zones out or is busy with something and Ranpo’ll just stops what he’s doing to listen to Poe hum. And also since Ranpo finds Poes voice quite soothing and calming on the nights Ranpo can’t sleep since his mind never turns off, sometimes instead of having Poe read him something to sleep he likes to have Poe sing him to sleep or hum a little to relax him and help turn off his mind.

Ranpo accepting that he liked Poe romantically was not an easy thing, and Yosano never wants to do it again. Ranpo was in denial and trying to prove that all the fond looks and snack sharing he did with Poe was completely platonic. As well as the pinkie links, Poe reading him stories, the lunch dates, everything was platonic.

Until it wasn’t. Ranpo couldn’t deny that maybe he wanted to hold Poes hand and not just link pinkies, call whenever they went to eat a date. He wanted to be Poes boyfriend and wanted Poe to be his.

Yosano was grateful he wasn’t denying it anymore. She helped Ranpo in confessing to Poe. It was simple Poe wouldn’t have wanted too much attention, but it was something thoughtful and sweet that Poe appreciated very much.

Ranpo confessed to Poe after they had finished shopping and eating lunch. They were walking around to see if they wanted anything else. Yosano had told Ranpo many times that Poe did like him back and had nothing to worry about, but Ranpo still did.

They had wandered to a bookstore and Poe had started talking to Ranpo about his new story idea and where he had gotten the idea from. Poe looked so excited when talking about it and Ranpo decided that he was gonna tell Poe how he felt, Poe just looked so cute how could he not.

He had bought some Blue Irises earlier and Poe thought he was going put them in his house, so when Ranpo handed them to him he thought Ranpo had wanted him to hold them. Poe kept talking until Ranpo said he liked him.

“I’m sorry?”

“…I said I like you Poe-kun..”

Poe just smiled at Ranpo with pink cheeks.

“I like you too Ranpo-kun..”

“Great, that makes you my boyfriend now!”

“Yes, and that makes you my boyfriend.”

Poe had turned a deeper shade of pink while he laughed softly and Ranpo had turned a light pink as well. The people around thought they looked lovely together.

Ranpo and Poe continued their shopping and went to Poes house after.
