Minorly annoys me when people interpret JGY as just gay or as having never loved Qin Su. He was definitely mind-fucking both LXC and NMJ and you're free to interpret characters how you want but JGY and Qin Su are a fairly explicit parallel to JZX and JYL (one of the pair was considered 'unworthy', one was considerably more sheltered than the other, the wife got pregnant just before marriage) which again serve to highlight that JGY's life is a mirror to his half-brother's which just sucks more in every way (which, again, is fairly explicit throughout the books). It becomes less compelling if JGY never loved Qin Su. In fact, everything about what happened makes less sense if JGY never loved Qin Su. He did love her. Enough to do an objectively reckless thing and sleep with her before marriage.

Full offense but your writing style is for you and nobody else. Use the words you want to use; play with language, experiment, use said, use adverbs, use “unrealistic” writing patterns, slap words you don’t even know are words on the page. Language is a sandbox and you, as the author, are at liberty to shape it however you wish. Build castles. Build a hovel. Build a mountain on a mountain or make a tiny cottage on a hill. Whatever it is you want to do. Write.
