TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

We are at the end of another good period. I didn't want to end the season without saying goodbye to you, friends. This semester, we did brand new tasks in our Current Issues Teaching course, thanks to teacher Gökçe. He is one of our most inspiring teachers that we talk about among our friends. First of all, I would like to thank him for the perspectives and skills he brought to us with this course. Among the tasks we did, the one I enjoyed the most was the one in which we blended AR and VR technologies into the education process. I was truly amazed at every process, and even to me, the point at which technology had come was amazing. In fact, I am very happy with everything we do and produce. It excites me to know that our efforts can reach somewhere. I must say to my friends who will take this course like us next semester, we are very lucky students. Be aware of this, enjoy the moment and always be open to learning and development. Dear Ms. Gökçe will take care of the rest anyway :) When I look back from the time I started to now, I see how much I have developed and I look forward to the times when I will be able to use everything appropriately when I become a teacher. Learning English with Artificial Intelligence

Hello guys! Today, our topic is to use AI to teach our lessons with innovative approaches. In our age, almost all of us are now intertwined with technology. Another friend that technology has introduced to us is artificial intelligence. So, what if we use this tool, which we use in many areas of our lives, in education? In order to get a concrete answer to this question, my friends and I (you can find the link to their blogs at the end of my blog) created an activity plan. An activity where our target audience, preparatory class high school students, can both learn and develop their creativity using AI. Again, while we were preparing this activity, we discovered new experiences and new AI tools. We believe that we contributed by creating a real product of students' learning and allowing them to access information quickly thanks to AI. Come on, take a look at the activity we created. Is It Possible to Travel Without Moving?

Hello everyone! Today’s topic is VR and AR technology, which has entered our lives thanks to advancing technology. Most of us have some idea about what these technologies are, but have you ever thought about how we can integrate them into education?

Today, I, along with my group members Bengüsu Erol and Göktuğ Duygu, would like to share a lesson activity in which we use VR and AR technologies to support language learning and provide students with new experiences ( You can visit my friends' blog by clicking their name) . In this lesson plan, we will distribute a 3-page worksheet to the students. You can find the worksheet we prepared at the bottom of the blog.

The topic we will cover using the worksheet is based on the location Amsterdam. We selected three well-known places and events in Amsterdam: Dam Square, King’s Day, and the Van Gogh Museum. By clicking on the names, you can also experience the VR and AR technologies we wanted the students to use. After providing a brief introduction about each place, we aim to give students a virtual experience that makes them feel as if they are truly there. Following this, we created an activity with questions to test their experiences. While preparing this, we used tools such as Canva, YouTube, and a website offering VR and AR technology.

We had a lot of fun while creating this activity, and it was incredibly exciting for us to break away from traditional teaching methods and introduce students to technology in this way. By doing so, we supported their learning process while ensuring they had an enjoyable time.

THE SYSTEM WE ARE USED TO OR THE SYSTEM WE FLIPPED ?

Hi everyone ! Today we have an example of a teaching method which is unfamiliar to most of you.! FLIPPED CLASSROOM !

"Questions such as "How? Are we going to change the seating arrangement in the classroom, are we going to explain the subject to students in a different way?" may have come to your mind.None of them. So what is this flipped classroom? Let me explain it…

A flipped classroom is a modern teaching method where students learn new topics at home through videos or online materials. Then, they come to class to practice and discuss what they’ve learned. Unlike traditional methods, where the teacher lectures in class, this approach gives students more active roles in their learning. That sounds practical right? What is more about it? Is it beneficial?

Flipped classrooms are beneficial because they allow students to learn at their own pace and spend class time solving problems, asking questions, or doing group activities. Teachers can give more personalized support to students who need it. So, students' learning process increases with the help of this technique.

To create flipped classroom materials, tools like Canva, Powtoon, or Edpuzzle can help make engaging videos or presentations. Me and my friends Göktuğ Duygu and Bengüsu Erol created a flipped classroom grammar teaching video. We had a lot of fun while preparing the video and were convinced by trying how useful the flipped classroom method was. As teachers, we realized that while we reduced the margin of error to almost zero, we had the opportunity to repeatedly monitor points that we would have missed in the lesson if we were a student. We also add a quiz that both tests students’ knowledge and enhances new acquisitions at the end of the video. We created the quiz from Kahoot. You can find the quiz click here.

In language learning, this method is especially helpful. Students can practice grammar and vocabulary at home and focus on speaking and listening skills in class. I hadn't published a blog in a long time. It's very exciting to be writing here again. Today I am going to start very quick and introduce you a new content. Corpus integrated worksheet. Now you will ask me what is a corpus, and also for whom was this worksheet prepared and what is its content? I feel like I can hear your questions. Come on, let me explain them all...

As you know, it is very important and efficient to use technology and the materials that come into our lives with technology in the field of education. This is exactly what the example I will show today aims to do.First of all, before continuing to read the blog, I would like you to examine the worksheet example I have embedded here.

This worksheet was created to support students in their own exploration of course input through the use of technology.The target audience is high school preparatory class students and it was created with the aim of identifying the deficiencies and practicing grammar that they already have knowledge of.This worksheet, which is suitable for both self-study and group or pair work to get feedback, contains content that I would like to tell you about. Corpus! Thanks to this material, it is possible to discover the natural use of the target language in every part of life, be it daily or academic. While students explore specific aspects of the target language, they also integrate technology into their learning process and have a fun and interesting experience.While preparing this worksheet, me and my group friends took care to ensure that the use of corpus was used by the student individually and at the same time was suitable for the assure model.There are many options for using corpus. The preparation process was very enjoyable for us. Time to say goodbye: just for a while..

Hello guys, our term is coming to an end, so we will take a short break from sharing these blogs with you. Before starting this summary, I wanted to share with you the benefits of the homework we have done this year, how the course contents can be improved, and my thanks to our dear teacher Gökçe, through this blog.

I wanted to share some thoughts on using technology in education because it’s such a game-changer. On the plus side, tech makes learning super engaging. Think about it; videos, educational games, and apps make lessons way more interesting than just reading a textbook. Plus, tools like these can personalize the learning experience. Ever used a language app that adjusts to your level? It’s awesome because you learn at your own pace.

I had never been this involved with technology before taking this course. I learned so many useful new sites and artificial intelligence tools that it not only helped me think about what I could do with my students in the future, but also increased my personal interest. I'm truly grateful. At the same time, with this course, I realized that the integration of technology into the field of education should be accelerated and regulated as soon as possible. Because, as a student of today and a teacher of the future, I can say how boring the old methods are and how studies blended with artificial intelligence and technology leave the individual more time to learn. That's why, in the future, I will definitely show my students artificial intelligence and the applications we have learned, especially for them to use in language education. This is not actually a blog post that glorifies technology. I looked for aspects to criticize before starting this article. Both for the course I took and for these tasks. But I really don't have a single criticism. I enjoyed both the lessons and the tasks. Thanks for everything. My friends, please know that sharing my ideas and works with you was the best thing this course gave me.

Hello guys, today I came to you with something that opens the door to the new century and is included in all areas of life every day. Artificial Intelligence!

In this assignment, we were asked to interview anyone we wanted by using artificial intelligence. As my subject, I chose Michel De Montaigne, whose writings I love very much and helped me gain the habit of reading. I really felt like I was talking to Montaigne with this service provided by artificial intelligence. Of course, there were also some conversations and words that I could say artificial. But again of course, artificial intelligence as the name suggests. It wasn't a real experience, but it could only be that close to reality! Still, having such an experience was unique. If I had not had such a lesson, I would not have known about this application or that we had such an opportunity. That's why I'm sure that using artificial intelligence in the education system will increase interest and interest in the subject and at the same time provide new experiences for everyone!

I definitely plan to give my students tasks that they can create with artificial intelligence in the future, just like I used them as a student. In this way, we contribute to both students and artificial intelligence and also pave the way for development. There are so many different artificial intelligence applications on any subject that it is almost impossible not to find something we want to do. Gender Inequality: Our Padlet Experience

Hey you! Today we are going to talk about serious situation which affects people all around the world. As you can see from the title it is about GENDER INEQUALITY.

Our recent project on gender inequality was an enlightening work that brought together various viewpoints and highlighted the widespread issue of gender disparity in different areas of life. This collaborative effort involved my group members Berkay Atmaca ve Göktuğ Duygu. ( You can click their name to visit their blogs ..) Together, we aimed to understand and address the complexities surrounding gender inequality, and Padlet played a crucial role in our process.From the beginning, our objective was to explore gender inequality from multiple angles, including business, representation in leadership positions, and societal norms that sustain inequality. We used Padlet, an online tool designed for collaborative work, to organize our research, share insights, and create an interdependent project. Padlet's user-friendly interface allowed us to post articles, videos, and our own ideas in a visually appealing way, enhancing our overall understanding of the topic.Padlet’s collaborative features made it easy for us to communicate and share ideas. This not only enriched our research but also ensured that everyone's opinions were considered and valued. Seeing all contributions in one place helped us identify key themes and gaps in our knowledge, leading to more thorough and detailed discussions.Also, working on this project significantly developed our 21st-century learning skills. We improved our critical thinking by analyzing various sources and perspectives on gender inequality. Teamwork was essential, as we learned to collaborate effectively, respect different viewpoints, and combine them into a unified project. Additionally, our digital skills improved as we navigated Padlet and used its features to enhance our work.In conclusion, Padlet was instrumental in facilitating our exploration of gender inequality, making the project a truly collaborative and educational experience. By using this tool, we not only deepened our understanding of an important social issue but also developed essential skills that will benefit us in our future academic and professional journeys.

NEW STEP: LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE DIGITAL STORYTELLING

Hi guys, I am very happy to be backposting ! Today, we have a lot to discuss but before we start, I want to say that I miss this place :)

After the holidays and the exam week, I am here with an assignment that we enjoyed doing but also found challenging. DIGITAL STORYTELLING.

In this week’s task we were given three different options. We decided to create a story with my teammate Göktuğ Duygu. Because, as you may remember from my previous post, we had a lot of fun while creating stories and characters. This time, instead of only vocalizing this creation, we chose to be the narrator by supporting it with visuals. First, we thought about what kind of story it should be. Since we wanted to be different and creative, my peer and I brainstormed. Finally, we decided to write a story in which a monk is torn between love and duty. Actually, I do not want to give you a spoiler about the story so this information can be enough at the moment :)During this process, we did program research and decided that Camtasia was the most suitable site to create the digital story. At the same time, we used the AI image creator program which is gencraft, because we wanted our visuals to be creative and honestly, it was hard to find images related to our story. When we started, we realized how challenging this task was and we understood the reason for the 2 weeks time given for the task. It was quite hard to create a story from scratch, to voice it, and to animate it accordingly on the digital platform. NOW IT IS TIME TO LISTEN OUR PODCAST :)

Hi guys! Do you miss me ? I miss you a lot :) After every assignment that we are given, I always very excited to prepare and share it with you. Today, I am going to share such a new thing with you. PODCAST. I do not know if you like listening a podcast or not but I am sure you will love it after listening to ours.

Last week, our instructor gave us an assignment which is creating a podcast. We were free to choose one of the option she gave us. Me and my partner Göktuğ Duygu ( I will also share his blog link under my post) chose " A sound-rich story". Before we started creating a podcast, I was a little hesitant in choosing this topic. Frankly , since I had no knowledge of editing sound effects, I wasn't sure if we could do a good job. However, later my partner convinced me and when I look at the work we did now, I am glad to chose this option. It was really fun to create podcast, editing sounds effect and also acting out characters' voices by changing our own voices. Thanks to such an assignment, we were able to stretch our imagination and write a story, and also discover our acting talent :P I'd like to tell you briefly about the content of podcast. It is a story about a murderer who grew up in an orphanage and was bullied while growing up. He wants to take revenge on these people. At the same time, he wears a clown costume and make-up to entertain himself while committing these murders! Lastly, he prefers to bring death as a gift to the birthday party of the last remaining person. Without further ado, I wish you pleasant listening !

LET ME SHOW YOU MY FIRST INFOGRAPHIC !

Hi guys! It is really nice to see you again on my blog. Today we have a little bit different topic to talk about. Our discussion topic is infographic and its benefit for education. As you know, this blog was created by me for the sake of course assignment. This week we were given a new assignment. Creating an information infographic about ethical and legal issues in educational technology. I used Canva to originate my design. It was very excited to create this type of informative design because it was my first time. I am new here- I mean on social media :) - so it was too hard to handle it for me. But it was fun. Besides from being fun, I think it is also very educational. While teaching process continue students can take benefits from this kind of design. Because of the visual feast it is also unforgettable. This can be useful for students. Also, because this design is far different from the regular course book, it could be a motivation for the students.

Before display my infographic, I want to share my infographic topic. It is netiquette. Have you ever heard this word? For the one who has never heard before , It is combination of two words. Internet and etiquette. Today, nearly everybody uses social media, mail, or anything related to technology. Just as we have some kind of etiquettes on real life to make the world better place to live in, the internet also needs etiquettes ,which is called " netiquette" , to safe and peaceful interaction with people. 21st Century Learning

Have you ever thought about the advantages of technology while you are searching for something to learn? Or, let me ask you a question from another perspective. Have you ever thought about the hardness the students with which the former generation encounter learning due to the lack of technology?

When we look at the past, the learning process was different from the 21st century. When they wanted to do some research, they had to flip through the books in the library. Or when they wanted to do a group assignment, they had to plan to meet the place with which everybody agree. Because online meeting was beside the point. In the past students were getting used to technology in their learning process newly. Even some students could not catch the time at which technologies such as the internet, computer, and any other tools started to be used. On the other hand, 21st century students for example me, we are the luckiest generation of all times. The children who born in this century are growing up as familiar with the technology without even realizing it. Because they are accustomed to the environment they are currently in and grew up in. For them, the technology is not new, but something already normal, including it in the educational process does not make them think twice.

The contribution of technology to education is significant. We can talk about many benefits for both students and teachers in the name of saving time and resources that can be accessed with a single click. It is impossible not to be grateful for the benefit of technology. When we think about how much effort the older generation has put in to read, acquire knowledge or improve themselves, it is incomparable.

Finally, I have a question for my followers. when you evaluate these developments from the past to present, would you like to be a student when technology was not active?
