fanfic writers, here’s a friendly reminder that you are not less of a writer if you haven’t posted anything in years, you are not less of a writer if your works aren’t as popular as other writers’, you are not less of a writer if some trolls left you rude comments (they either just want your attention or are simply intimidated/threatened by your talent), you are not less of a writer if you write short one-shots instead of a 100k novel-length fanfic, you are not less of a writer if you’re not satisfied with your writing (I promise you it’s so much better than you think, you should be proud of yourself), you are not less of a writer if you’re not comfortable posting any of your works at all.

you are always as valid as any other fellow writers out there.

another reminder: fanfic writing is not a competition, and it’s not a job. don’t put so much pressure on yourself. always remember, the point of writing fanfictions is that we get to have fun, escape reality into the world we create in which we can write anything we want.

it stops being a getaway and a safe place the second we treat writing fanfic as a job or a competition. no, you’re not writing for anybody. you’re writing for you. this world you create is just you and your blorbos. have fun. it’s your getaway.

Beautiful

Jake's eyes are dark when you meet his gaze. You tilt your head from where you sit on the couch, asking, "What?"

Jake shakes his head and resumes typing on his laptop. But after a few secends, he looks up again.

You raise an eyebrow. "Come on. What is it?"

Under the dim light of the living room lamp, you catch a slight rosé colour dusting Jake's ears as he clears his throat. He stares at his laptop screen again, but his fingers arent't moving anymore. "There's... an error."

"An error?" You frown. Sitting up straighter, you put your phone down on the small round table.

Jake nods, still not looking at you. "With my heart", he mumbles, so lowly that you're sure you'd have missed it if you hadn't watched his face so intently.

His words make you chuckle. "And why is that?"

"Because you make my heart race." Jake's voice may be quiet when he meets your eyes, but his gaze is sharp. Focused. It makes your skin tingle when he adds, "Do you know how beautiful you are?"

"I... well. Aren't you charming today", you mutter, feeling your heart tumbling in your chest as Jake's lips curl into half a smile.

"I'm always charming."

"You're a nerd, that's what you are."

"Is that supposed to be an insult?" Jake's eyes glint, his smile turning into a little loop-sided grin that you can't help but be endeared by.

You lean back into the couch and open your arms. "Yes. Now, come here. I wanna cuddle, Mister Charming."

Jake chuckles lowly and closes the laptop. "As you wish."

I needed something sweet and short because I had a bad day. Enjoy!

    The fire surrounded almost all the nearest exits and each time the smoke bothered my chest, making it hurt every time my lungs asked to breathe.

    The mask did its best to block the smoke, but it was not made for the job.

    Unfortunately for me, that explosion had also caused the ground to shake, causing rocks to start falling from the ceiling.

    I try to block it with my arms, so that they do not hit me in the head and each blow tears and burns my sweatshirt, rendering it useless.

    It is then that a structure stands in my way. Shit. I must now turn again.

    By the time I do, a rock falls on my head, making a gash.

    And that's when I scream in pain.

    I open my eyes, putting a hand on my chest, trying to calm my heart that has raced from remembering what happened in the mine. I am sweating like I did that time, still feeling the fire in my body, as if it hasn't disappeared yet.

   “Jake? What's wrong?” a sweet voice is heard next to me and I see its owner.

    Her blond hair is disheveled and her warm eyes look at me with concern.

    As if it were a miracle, I approach her, hugging her. I bury my face in the crook of her neck, still smelling the perfume she had put on that day.

   “Nothing, I'm fine,” I answer leaving a kiss on her neck, “I just had a nightmare.”

   “Was it the same thing that happened at the mine again?”

    It is impossible to hide it from her, she knows me well.

    I pull away and nod, running my hand over her face.

   “It is not something I can forget,” I take a deep breath, shaking my head slowly,  “that night I thought I would never see you again, if it had not been for you coming into my life, I think I would have stayed in that mine to die.”

   “Don't even think about saying that,” she places both her hands on my face, carefully caressing my scars, “the world couldn't lose you Jake, and look where you are now. You're with me. You would have known me somehow because I would have been looking for someone who was only like you. One and only Jake.”

    I laugh, imagining what our meeting might have been like if it hadn't been for Hannah. I am sure I would have noticed her, in some passing little conversation, in the way she looks at others with kindness, in how she always defends those who need it.

    Calmer, I decide to settle down on her chest, hugging her. She begins to caress my hair, massaging me slowly to calm me down.

   “I still do not know how to thank you for giving me the courage to have a new life again, angel.”

   “It wasn't me, you did it yourself,” I can tell from those words that she must be smiling. One of the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen in my life, “you managed to fight for us, you wanted us to have a future.”

   “And it is what I have wanted most since I met you” I turn around a little, kissing her on the stomach, “I promise I will not leave again, no running away, just the three of us.”

   “So why have you abandoned me, Jake?” I wondered when I heard that question, the sweet voice had disappeared, giving way to one that seemed to be crying, “Why haven't you come back to me? Was everything you promised me a lie?”

    I open my eyes, still hearing her voice in my ears. It sounded just like that night when she cried. When I promised her I would come back.

    I sit up in the unmade bed because I've been moving around so much because of the fever. And my arms still hurt because of the mine.

    I examine my bandages. They are damp with sweat, they need to be changed. Luckily I am not bleeding like I used to, but wounds take a while to heal.

    I get out of bed, walking over to the bag with all the necessities I had asked for. I am going to owe her big one.

    As I change the bandages, I think about the next step, Nymos. I have to prepare him to reinstall it on her phone, even if it takes a while. I have already managed to block everything to protect them, now it is time to recover the messages from that night and send them to her.

    Even though I am injured, I have not stopped working. It keeps me mentally busy while I think about her. She is the only one who gives me the strength to return to her side. If I think about her face, her voice, her presence, everything I am doing means it is worth it. I would not be doing all this if it were not for the woman I love. I already broke the rules I had when I met her and I would do it again to get back to her side.

   “I will not break my promise, Macie, I am coming back for you,” I turn on the laptop, typing the password quickly despite the pain still in my entire body, “you are the angel who has given me the strength to keep on living, and I will not rest until I am finally by your side. Just wait a little longer, my angel.”

I missed writing Duskwood's Jake so much after so many AUs 🥺

Haha, it’s been a while since I had this much fun making fanart! I adore the idiot 😌 Tbh, I didn’t expect to be this excited about the second episode? And for some reason, I already have like a million Charlie headcanons I'm gonna be throwing at you, you're welcome. Probably all wrong though 😂

I mean, it's not all sunshine and rainbows. There're still a lot of things I don't like about the game. The remaining AI images make me want to 𝑔𝑜𝓊𝑔𝑒 my damn eyes out and I feel like a hypocrite. But it looks like they changed their stand on it, so I'm giving them time to replace it properly.

Am I naive? Yes. Is Charlie a big conspiracist? Also yes.

Well, I believe Eric definitely knows something more about those cards. If you remember the secret chat between Eric and Ash from episode 1...

Now, to me, this kinda hints that both of them know much more about this cards, and thus probably even about what's happening to Adam.

I finally finished Moonvale episode 2 (after a little mishap with my old phone on which I just finished my replay, so I kinda had to listen to Billy Blake story - again!!! 😭😭😭 I love you Charlie, but I can't listen to that story any more! 😅

So if anyone is interested, here are (some of) my thoughts about it...

- All in all, I liked the episode! It was fun and thrilling, the story was good and I'm looking forward to see how it will continue to develope! 💚

- I'm happy to see Everbyte decided to change some things in designe and interface. Some things still need improvement, and it's a long process, but it's a step forward in my eyes! 👍

- A one time purchase for videos/pictures is a nice touch indeed! Yes, it is only for one episode, but still much better option than being forced to replay constantly to get enough diamonds for everything. So a big kudos for that! 👍 (I haven't bought it, I had enough diamonds to unlock everything, but I'm curious to see if on my replay the videos/pictures will still stay unlocked or not.)

- Duskwood side stroy was pretty cool and interesting! Nymos thing was awesome! 😁💚 And Dan, still openly showing his resentment towards our hackerman... honestly, wouldn't expect anything else from him 🤭

- I'm not gonna go into much details about each character, but I will say this: Eric's actor did a wonderful job again! 💚 Charlie still talks too much, but I love him nonetheless! 😅🤭💚 I'm still trying to figure out Ash tbh, and I have not much to say about Violet for now. 🤷‍♀️

- I'm kinda dissapointed we didn't get to chat with Charlie one on one, I was really hoping we'll get that! 😭😭😭 So fingees crossed we (finally) get that in next episode! 🤞🤞

- Some chats seemed quite exceeded to me. I sometimes got a feeling they just kept on prolonging them (unnecessarily) just to fill in the need to make the episode last longer. But, meh, I was tired already what with the need to finish episode 1 again, so might just be that. 🤷‍♀️

So again, all in all I liked the episode a lot! 💚 And I'm looking forward to future episodes, which hopefully we won't have to wait for too long! 🤞🤞
