Update/What's in the Future
[Hey guys, you probably have noticed that this is going to be likely the longest dry spell of real Zoolim content in a while. I apologize for this. Life has gotten in the way of a lot of things.
-I'm an art student in college, and last semester I didn't take any art classes so I was basically free to do whatever, but this semester I've taken three studio art classes, which are all very intensive and in honesty I would not recommend it! If you're a studio art student stick to 1-2 studio art classes a semester so you don't go insane please! I'm currently absolutely SWAMPED with work right now. -The Golbo video and the video that is imminently due this Tuesday (that i am writing this post about instead of working on) are the results of my New Media class. Considering the ten thousand million fucking art assets I have to draw for these it's been very time consuming (still want to do it though.) -A lot of life things have happened to me recently, not to be super personal but a family member of mine is sick and my living conditions are not the absolute Best, so it's been taking a heavy toll on my health.
All of these combined, especially the studio classes part because I've been bled dry of creativity energy relating to zoolim basically, has caused this dry spell basically. My hopes are that after the semester ends (which is soon) I'll be able to work on things more. I feel bad about not working on it more but I have to draw things other than zoolim to literally stay sane because it's a lot.
So I guess that leaves us with one question: what's in the future?
Well, a lot of things... maybe? I'm a little dry on entity ideas right now but i have a few, and I'd like to revisit some entities more and expand on them. And while I enjoy the videos and the non-entry ideas I have for material, I would also like to continue the 'traditional' paintings and entries. So I hope I can work on that alongside other things! I also have more ideas for videos, but considering how I have to do nearly all of the work, aside from the narration (thanks Darvinos) any video production will likely slow down dramatically after the semester is over. Until my next New Media class at least, but IDK if it will let me make the same shit.
I also have some deeper lore and a story semi-figured out, along with characters (you ever wonder who's taking the pictures? not the same person who's writing the captions!!!) but they would be hard to implement in this tumblr blog organically, so maybe they'll show up in some videos. I've thought of asking more people for help for this purpose, though I'd need to work out completely how that would work, and the moment that zoolim becomes more than some backrooms world i work on mostly by myself will become scary.
Sorry that this post is a big ramble, I hope yall understand and I swear the Longlegs video will come out pretty soon, it will be worked on again right after I post this lol. But please take care, and thank you for all the support you've shown me so far. It truly does mean a lot to me. I've said it several times but I'll say it again, I never imagined this shitty little art project about weird goobers in the backrooms would get so much attention lol.
ok end of post]

Excuse me, could you research the fog walkers more, or tells us more about them? Sorry if I'm being rude, this is my first ask!
Fog walkers are entities found exclusively in the "Winter" area of the Far Plane. They are named for their unique ability to seemingly support themselves on condensed water droplets, typically manifesting as clouds or fog in their environment. This has been observed through how they make no sound when moving, unlike other large entities like striders or giant longlegs.
There have not yet been any up-close observations of fog walkers as they move remarkably fast, but they are seen to be quadrupedal with tentacle-like endings on the end of each of their limbs. They walk across condensed water droplets by "scooping" with each limb, propelling themselves forward. There is no observation of them walking on the ground or any other surface. They also have four glowing spots on their heads that pierce through fog and snow. Through telescopes, it has been discovered that these are eyes and not merely markings.
Two prominent theories are in question about how fog walkers move. One infers that the tentacle-like appendages on the ends of their limbs contain gravity-disrupting organs, allowing their (presumably) heavy bodies to walk on air. Another theory suggests that fog walkers are simply much lighter than inferred, even lighter than clouds. More research is required before a definitive conclusion can be drawn.

I showed my friend your Golbo Procedures video and this is how the conversation after went:
Friend: “It- Golbo reminds me of one of those rubber chicken things.”
Me: “Yeah, but it doesn’t make noise, I don’t think. It does seem like a rubber chicken though.”
Friend: “How do you know? You’ve never seen a Golbo.”
Golbo doesn't have any way to make sound (and even if it did, it likely wouldn't, considering its normal behavior. It has an eye but it doesn't blink, cry, or look at people.)
Also, Golbo, being made of skin-like material, does in fact feel like rubber.

Bit of a strange question, but what’s the average lifespan of a strider?
This is a simple question with an excruciatingly complicated answer.
The question of a farplanar entity’s “lifespan” is at best a topic of debate, and at worst a hypothetical. There’s two things barring us from answering this question:
For one, we have not been studying the Far Plane long enough to observe any possible full lifespans of entities. Giraffa camelopardalis, an animal that striders superficially resemble, has an average lifespan of 25 years. The Zooliminology Project has been in the Far Plane for less than a decade.
Secondly, many entities cannot be considered “alive” in the the traditional sense because they do not meet all criteria to be considered a living organism.
The general parameters of being alive are as follows:
Respiration, growth, excretion, metabolism, reproduction, and responsiveness to the environment. Not all living beings need to adhere to all of these, such as reproduction; many living beings including some humans are unable to reproduce.
However, there are several of these that we can consider not applicable to a strider: nobody has ever seen a strider grow, nor has anyone seen a strider eat, nor has anyone seen one reproduce. And nor has anyone seen any farplanar entity, let alone a strider, die from “natural causes.”
I am reminded to conclude that is a long-winded way to say: We have no idea how long a strider’s lifespan is, or if they even have one in the first place.
This topic is a piece of the larger question of what farplanar entities are, and a more in-depth post of this topic may come in the future from a colleague.

As of 3/18/2024, the Zooliminology blog has just hit the 1,000 follower mark a few hours ago. The research team would like to sincerely thank every one of you for your support during this journey. This amount of followers had only been conceited in my wildest dreams and it's amazing to see the traction that my silly little backrooms drawings had gained. I'm not good with words so I don't really know how to railroad this, but to support our community, there is an official Zooliminology server that will be open to the public. It will be linked at the end of this post. I also apologize for the rather unceremonious announcement, but I've been swamped by mid-semester projects (it was a mistake taking three studio art classes in one semester) and I'm currently working on something that doubles as both a midterm and Zooliminology content. I hope you will all like it. It's in a different format than what is usually shown here, but I've been working very hard on it and it features someone who's a fan favorite and who helped the blog grow to the size it is now. ;) (also the image at the top is an asset for it) Here is the Discord server link, please read the rules and be nice to each other.

A new sub-area of the "Far Plains" area has been discovered. The entities known as "striders" and "kytes" are some of the few discovered entities that coexist in certain areas. There are no known intentional interactions between the two entity types as of yet.

[reblogging here because it’s zoolim, but I apologize in advance because I didn’t take it seriously at all (you might have gleaned that from the thumbnail already) and my commentary is overall terrible]

I am unable to identify how deep this photo was taken in the Far Plane, but it shows two entities lurk within the total darkness.... The only other information (a small page of notes) was how the wheeled one moved around the pink entity, and the pink entity pointing up at what appears to be the ceiling. Neither seem to have known names nor pose a threat to the photographer.
What you have found is likely remnants from past research in the Far Plane predating the Zooliminology Project. The architecture in the photo resembles pools or similar environments, however, it doesn't match any already-discovered areas. Additionally, The creatures pictured also look nothing like our archive of known entities. This is an extraordinary find, both because it gives us information about undiscovered areas of the Far Plane and because it offers clues about our predecessors.

In the Greenhouses, a new species has been found. These entities roam corridors and wade in small terraces. They have been observed to possess remarkable durability in their bodies despite having the appearance of being make of glass, but avoid their tails being hit against surfaces or being touched by others like them. Touching their tails is not advised, as it is unclear as to what would happen.

Is there a map of the Far Plane? Geographical or otherwise? If not what are the documented regions or places?
As of now, there are not any formal maps of the Far Plane due to the nature of its space. The space of its plane of reality is not consistent with real-world laws of physics and utilizes dimensions beyond third, making a theoretical map of it very difficult to create and understand.
Essentially, areas are muddled in with each other and doors that stand right next to each other could lead to entirely different areas, even if it doesn't make sense space-wise, because the Far Plane is non-Euclidian.
To answer the next part, there are indeed documented and named. Many have shown up in photos posted here, however, we may list a few here:
The Far Plains The first area discovered by the Zooliminology Project, and usually the initial area you can clip into. Primarily is comprised of vast, open, green planes and rolling knolls that sometimes sport fences. The sky projects the impression of being around midday and usually have large clouds. The grass found here is not confirmed to be related to real-world poaceae. Several black prisms have been discovered here colloquially as "voids," the properties of which are still understudied due to our focus on zoological documentation. Home to striders and kytes.
Brutalia A large, geometric area of concrete that sprouts in random directions and does not truly superficially resemble any real-world architecture. The concrete gives way to many interiors and corridors that make it easy to get lost or separated from groups. The sky seems to be in a perpetual state of sunset. The only entities recorded here are longlegs.
Winter An exterior part of the Far Plane that is characterized by a constant state of snow and darkness. This area seems to closely resemble a real-world landscape, but the "plant" life here does not seem to grow or decay. The sky routinely shifts between being in either sunset or sunrise to being fully night. The area is covered in a constant mist that obscures faraway landmarks. This area houses fogwalkers and light mimics.
The Rain Lot An exterior area of the Far Plane is categorized by perpetual darkness and constant rain. The area, unlike Winter or the Far Plains, is almost completely flat, leading to light flooding in many areas. Natural light sources include clusters of floodlights. The only entities recorded here are ghosts.
Greenhouses A purely interior part of the Far Plane that houses an abundance of liminal flora. This area typically has an abundance of natural light sources compared to other interior areas. The flora inside of this area can vary, along with the style and size of rooms. Entities found here are golbos and another currently unnamed species.
Miscellaneous Other areas of the Far Plane exist, mostly including interiors, but have either not been explored enough to find their true scope or have not been confirmed to be their own area rather than a subarea of a larger expanse. These places are home to various other entities that have been recorded in prior photographs. Please note that these areas are categorized by researchers and are not a full list nor is it a hard-fast rule. Many areas blur into each other due to the nature of the Far Plane and categorizing areas is done for the purpose of ease of cataloging explored areas and found entities.

Alternate Dimensions Research Center
Inspired by @zooliminology. If you see that I tagged you 3 times, I am sorry.
The day it happened, the sky seemed to shimmer, like the ripples of a pond. Then the entire air started to ripple. Then the floors. Then the houses and trees and racoons and people. Things started to “clip out of reality”, disappearing into the ground like some badly-rendered video game. Creatures, things with four meter long legs and bodies that never end clipped into this world, bursting out from invisible rifts of time and space. People panicked. They screamed and yelled and called for the end of the world and everything.
But things got calmer, the sky went back to normal and the creatures disappeared, with only a few each month coming out. By then, the government set up research facilities to research these rifts, the creatures inside them, and what they really were. What little footage that were scraped from the expeditions showed that the worlds were eerily similar to the liminal space, dreamcore aesthethics and surrealism. This revelation sparked full on, proper research into the dimensions dubbed "The Plane", and figure out just what were the secrets of this world and its creatures. People take full precaution when going into these worlds and will go through so many tests to ensure they're safe. But I don't know. Perhaps you've overestimated what these worlds can do.
