I feel like 90% of "ancient curses" are probably adequately explained by the fact that the self-proclaimed adventurers who ostensibly fell victim to them were, as a class, a bunch of dipshits who engaged in frequent international travel in an era before antibiotics and vaccines. Like, the list of novel pathogens these guys were risking exposure to on a regular basis was effectively "all of them". That's gotta leave a mark.

I also always carry my panic meds, my various Loop Earplugs, my AirPods, a portable charger for longer outings, sunglasses of varying degrees of darkness no matter the weather, gum and/or snacks, Advil, and of course my wallet.
@ people who carry bags everywhere what do you put in them what is there to bring other than chapstick, keys, phone and maybe a tampon why are you packing a suitcase to be outside for 5 hours
#the usual things#get on my level#neurodivergent#earplugs and sunglasses are often worn indoors when I am particularly tired or overstimulated#adult adhd#my adhd#adhd brain#I physically cannot leave without making sure I have all of these things#or I risk problems

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE NEANDERTHAL CHILD WITH DOWN'S SYNDROME? Because they're all I've been thinking about when I'm sad for the past few days. Their existence makes me less sad.

Calling all archaeoblurs!
If you're an archaeologist* and have a Tumblr, reblog this or sound off in the comments! I figured it's high time we put together a directory of sorts.
*for our purposes, archaeologist can mean someone who has or is working on a degree in archaeology, you don't necessarily have to be currently practicing. If you have a blog that is specifically archaeology focused, include that and what your specialty is!

Everyone thought when Gaia made herself known to the world with the intention of suing every corporation which had polluted in the past century that the corporations would easily win. They after all had the best lawyers on Earth. Gaia alternatively had brought her most litigious Fae…

Do you think that Odysseus has become a kind of running joke among the gods, like when we joke about cockroachs' survivability?
For example some mortal is surviving stuff that rly should've killed him, and someone on Olympus says "is he pulling an Odysseus on us?" and everyone laughs

Comprehensive Greek Myth Family Tree
I noticed awhile ago that there is no Greek myth family tree that includes demigods and heroes and the like and decided to change that. I hyper focused on this project for several hours and created a comprehensive family tree for Greek myth characters.
It is incomplete and likely contains mistakes and is also probably missing many characters. Additionally it only has characters who can be traced back to divine ancestors. I also realize that there are so many characters the chances of me being able to include them all is pretty slim but I am gonna do my best.
It currently sits at 607 names/individuals, but if you notice any mistakes or know of characters that can be added let me know! Also simply go ahead and share your thoughts if you’d like, I love hearing what people think.

Fair enough point there! Let me rephrase:

Would Saturn pay child support?
Ah, Classical Mythology! Nice choice.

Give me Tommy missing Buck during his shift, just scrolling through the pictures on his phone, not calling or texting because Buck just came off shift and needs his beauty sleep, give me pouty-at-40 Tommy with his cleft chin on his beefy forearms, arms folded on table, not noticing what his team is saying until someone mentions "Evan" and he literally perks up, except he droops again when it's not his Evan they're talking about, give me good-natured teasing as Tommy tries to choose the best boyfriend photo for his wallpaper
(alarm goes off and he's back to Cool Confident Hot Pilot Firefighter Kinard mode again)

I have adhd which means that sometimes I have trouble reading facial expressions and understanding nuances in sentences.
Someone in my trench group complained about me to my professor cause apparently I was doing something that bothered them. My professor sat me down and told me about it and she told me that she explained to the person that I have adhd so I can’t always tell that I am annoying someone and Instead we talked about how to let the group know that they need to be direct with me. She repeatedly told me that it wasn’t my fault, I wasn’t in trouble and there was nothing wrong with me.
It was the first time anyone explicitly told me that there was nothing wrong with me, that my adhd was not a bad thing and that it isn’t my fault. She has no idea how much her saying those things meant to me.
I was (and still am) so exhausted from lack of sleep that I every time I think about what she said I start to get really overwhelmed with appreciation and I start crying.
