Anyway have some Leo and Esperanza thoughts set in a universe where she’s alive:
-Definitely knew Leo was bi before he told her. This kid is not able to be subtle about his crushes ever
-She was the first person Leo ever came out to. Just hugged him for ages and kissed his head and told him he’s perfect exactly how he is and she’s always going to love him no matter what
-They Iris message almost daily when Leo first gets to camp. He’s so excited when he makes his first friend and gets to introduce her to Piper. Leo and Piper met in this universe because they were the oldest out of the kids claimed right after the Titan war and arrived at camp at the same time and they just clicked immediately
-Let’s say in this universe Gaia doesn’t wake and Leo and Piper just sort of find an injured Jason on a mission by coincidence (make that “coincidence” because someone (Juno) decided it was time to mend the rift between camps and having CHB nurse one of the Camp Jupiter praetors then return him to his own camp unharmed was a good starting point)
-Jason stays at CHB for a while for diplomatic reasons and they properly become friends
-Esperanza definitely side-eyes Jason when he visits them for the first time because at first glance he gives off similar vibes to some of the football player kids who’ve bullied Leo before and she is Concerned but Jason withers so fast under her gaze that she ends up concerned for a completely different reason
-Jason scrambles to try and tell her all the reasons why he thinks Leo is the most incredible person ever actually and yeah it turns out she really likes this kid (though she’s starting to get increasingly worried about what his home life looks like if some light glaring has him this rattled)
-He loves her cooking (but not as much as Leo’s. He’d never tell her that though)
-She doesn’t push Jason to talk about his home life or family but makes it very clear that he’s free to stay over whenever he wants. Fundamental mom instinct to wrap that boy in a blanket and make him hot cocoa.
-Esperanza is Jason’s first encounter with an adult that’s genuinely kind and caring towards him and he’s really really shocked about it. Like worrying amounts. He needs her to like him or he Will Die actually, especially because that’s Leo’s mom
-Esperanza definitely picks up on the vibes between Jason and Leo before Jason and Leo do. This isn’t even her being especially perceptive they’re just incredibly obvious and also idiots (I say this with affection)
-One summer Leo Iris messages his mom randomly in the middle of the day beaming but will not tell her what’s up. For like fifteen minutes he’s just smiling and fidgeting away talking about a whole bunch of nothing at all until she grins and asks “did you finally ask Jason out” and Leo just looks at her gobsmacked because he has no idea how she could have possibly figured that one out
-Jason tries to learn Spanish in parts to impress her and he is So Bad At It at first. She thinks it’s really sweet and is very encouraging (unlike Leo who just makes fun of his boyfriend for his shit pronunciation)

i’m gonna rate pjo ships because i’m bored and my opinion is Correct
percabeth - 11/10, i actually love them so much i don’t think there is a single ship i love more than them.
grover/juniper - 7/10, they’re cute, i just feel like there’s no depth there. also wasn’t grover willing to cheat on her with that daughter of iris?!?! correct me if im wrong but …🤨
jiper - 2/10, actual snoozefest like i’m sorry but it’s just copy and paste percabeth without everything that makes percabeth good. also they’re both queer and were forced into the relationship by hera/juno
valgrace - 10/10, I LOVE THEM. the tragedy the trope i just. ugh i love them
caleo - -890/10, hate it.
jercy - 9/10, they’re silly, also love a good enemies to lovers trope. at the VERY LEAST they both had a lil crush on each other
percico - 1/10, it rubs me in all the wrong ways, especially with the age gap and the nature of their relationship. i can’t see them as anything but friends who occasionally run into each other and have awkward catch-ups. obviously love the unrequited crush but the relationship is . Different
solangelo - 9/10, used to hate them but then i read s&ts and cut them some slack. just wish will was an actual character instead of just “nico’s boyfriend :3”
jeyna - 8/10 SO much potential but i still feel like it would kind of be basic. also reyna kind of throwing away the idea of being with jason when percy showed up was odd
pipabeth - 10/10, silly silly silly. i love them. also love the idea of a little polycule with percabeth and pipabeth and jercy. i’ll shut up now
valdangelo - 10/10, almost feels like what rick wanted solangelo to be. like sunshine character with a tragic past x dark character with a tragic past in its prime. they’re also hilarious
frazel - i DESPISE the age gap. i wish rick would have just made her 16 like everyone else because 13 x 16 is such a huge gap in emotional maturity. she’s a kid dawg 😭🙏 OTHER than that they’re cute, but i really hate the gap
valzhang - 7/10, honestly can’t see frank being into leo LIKE that but it’s a fun ship, they’re honestly so silly especially in mark of athena. they hate each other (besties (boyfriends))
jasico - 10/10, Oh the tragedy i can’t take this. like if it wasn’t tragic i wouldn’t like it if that makes sense. but the image of nico needing to be held back from shadows so he won’t freak out and avenge jason himself Ohhhh yeah that hits hard
perleo - 5/10, eh, they’re just friends to me. BEST friends, but that’s it
ruegard - 10/10, the patrochilles parallel will ALWAYS GET ME. they better kiss in the show

Flowers of Mythology - Iris
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are 310 species in the family of iris, or flags, or junos as they might be called. They are perennial plants that can spread through rhizomes (underground roots) or through bulbs, depending on the climate. They have long stems that stand up right, either with or without branches, hollow or solid, and have a flattened or circular cross-section. The flower is six-lobed and fan shaped and might be in groups of one or more. Three of the petals usually stand up called 'standards' and three droop down, called 'falls', some with small hairlike fibers called a 'beard'. Sometimes the standards are smaller than the falls. In some iris, all six petals stand up like the standards and are joined at their base. The petals can be veined, striped, or spotted and a wide variety of colors. They are found in temperate areas in the Northern Hemisphere naturally, usually in dry, semi-desert; rocky, mountainous areas; meadowlands or grassy slopes; or woodland bogs or riverbanks. Yellow iris is often used in purifying water from agricultural runoff because it grows quickly. Some states ban it, though, because it can grow fast enough to clog natural waterways.

There are many myths about the iris around the world. Iris is the Greek word for rainbow the halo of the moon. Iris is also the daughter of Thaumas, a sea god, and Electra, an Oceanid water-nymph. She serves as a messenger of the gods and their servant, especially to Hera. There are many myths about her.

In the Titanomachy, when the Olympians under Zeus fought against the Titans, Iris and her sister Arke (meaning swift or quick) sided with the Olympians, though Arke changed sides. Zeus removed Arke's wings and they were regifted until they eventually became the wings on Achilles' sandals. Iris was allowed to keep her wings and maintain her position as messenger of the gods alongside Hermes, though she mostly served Hera.

Iris, in her capacity as messenger, is sent to Demeter with a message from Zeus to lift the curse she cast over the earth when Persephone was kidnapped by Hades, sent by Zeus to Heracles to free Prometheus after Leto, mother of Artemis and Apollo, pleads with Zeus for his release, had to leave Hypnos, the god of sleep, quickly after delivering a message for Hera as his powers were working on her, is the messenger in the Iliad, conveyed Leto's bribe to Eileithya, goddess of childbirth, on her ninth day of labor, though she also had to convey Hera's orders for no one to offer Leto shelter in an attempt to prevent her twins from being born and informed Hera of the twin's birth. She is nearly assaulted by satyrs after being sent by Hera to disrupt their worship of Dionysus.

Despite how many myths Iris is involved in, she doesn't seem to have been worshiped much, unlike Hermes, who had cult centers. She had no temples, shrines or festivals. Though she has very few known sculptures, she was a relatively common figure on vases and was on the west pediment of the Parthenon in Athens, Greece.

A fan design for Dizzy {Guilty Gear}
I've been seeing some people in my general sphere talking about Dizzy's design, so I decided to take a crack at my own interpretation.
Design notes:
- So, if I recall correctly, Necro + Undine + the tail are all referred to as "Systems", and they were added by an outside force as a way to protect her even if she didn't want to fight. She seems to have some form of control over them even when they get out of hand, so this design is built off of the idea that she can "integrate" them further into herself and each other, and also as a means of being able to use them for more dexterous things without them (particularly Necro and Undine) having to fully shift to their other forms. She has a baseline integrations for "casual" situations, like the wings now having little fingers to help hold things, and various different levels and types of "integrations" for things like combat.
- When in high-integration: Defense, the wings get larger and now also connect to the base of her tail, her tail goes into its mouth form, the wing-fingers gain claws, and the eye markings present on her wings and tail become more prominent and gain glowing red iris markings.
- I incorporated an eye motif into her design, found on the tail, wings, sleeves, and her bows. Considering how much of the Kiske family's current shenaniganery is related to eyes (especially tied to her powers as the Scales of Juno), I felt that it would make sense.
- The eye markings on her tail are not real eyes.
- The symbols on her sleeves are an alternate version of the Illyricum butterfly found on Ky's design in Strive, altered as to have eye markings similar to some real life butterflies.
- I see so many people talk about how Dizzy's outfit is "slutty" and "makes no sense", and let me just say... I'd like to see YOU try and make a more "thoroughly clothed" design while having to account for a tail and set of wings! >8{ Seriously, trying to figure something out thoroughly kicked my ass. She's basically wearing two open-backed ponchos with various adjustment straps on her top, and clothing her lower half... oh GOD trying to clothe her lower half in a way that makes sense for a tail... So many garters...
- Also, drawing anime hair is pain.
I hope you like it!

im dangerously obsessed with frank zhang rn so here's a "little" thing about him bc people don't realize how complex his character is. Buckle in cause this is a long one.
Frank arrived at camp (correct me if I'm wrong) about two weeks after his mother died. The night of the funeral was the night he found out he could die at any moment if a wooden stick caught fire. (Again, please feel free to correct me about the timeline and stuff.) Frank travelled from Vancouver, Canada to California. A 415 HOUR WALK. As far as we know, he did it illegally too. All while still dealing with the fact that his mother had recently passed and his (low-key kinda neglectful) grandmother was now his legal guardian.
We see how in the first few chapters, just how much Frank is drawn to archery, his grandmother even chastising him about his obsession. He wishes to be claimed by Apollo. Yet, after he wins the war games for his cohort, he is claimed by Mars. Mars, the god of war. The god of violence. The god of what killed his mother. Frank couldn't be less like him, or so we think. Of course, Frank doesn't want to be violent, but it's shown on multiple occasions how his first instinct is to fight.
When he sets off on his quest, there was no way for him to know what would lay ahead. There was no way to know that he would meet Iris, who would show him his gift. Speaking of Iris, however, this where something very interesting happens. Iris claims he is connected to the stick because he 'had too many gifts'. This confused me on my first read, because how could he have too many gifts? He could shapeshift, sure, but it's not like he had any other major powers or anything. That's where I was wrong. It was confirmed in a book, I can't remember which one, that children of Mars and Ares have control over the dead, as long as they were on the losing side of a battle. So no, he doesn't only have one power. He certainly has skills, too. He is gifted in war strategy and tactics, as well. Making him an absolute unit in combat.
Of course, how could I talk about SoN with our bringing up the whole Zhang mansion chaos? It begins with Frank, Hazel and Percy in desperation. They resort to going to his 'grandmother's house' as he calls it. Not his house, his grandmother's. (This has absolutely no significance I just wanted to point it out). His grandmother is quite literally on her death bed when they arrive, Mars at her side. When Frank and his father have a one on one, Mars mentions how he is 'Junos secret weapon'. While talking about Gaia, he mentions that - in a direct quote - " I think you worry her more than Percy or Jason or any of the seven." This ties back to Iris' comment. He is too powerful.
Grandmother Zhang seems very shitty, and for the most part is. She has told Frank that "Men do not cry, especially not Zhang men" which we can see ties into a quote further on in the book, after the mansion catches fire and they're on the plane back. Percy mentions that "Frank kept his head down, as if he was ashamed to have been crying."
What people don't mention about Frank as much, is that he lost his only family about a month or so apart. A month.
People don't like Frank because of his conflict with Leo, but what people choose to ignore is the fact that the arguments started after Frank started hearing Mars and Ares in his head. And as we see in HoH, Mars and Ares are very pushy. Some of his behaviour could be contributed to his anger at Mars, who he now hears encouraging him to fight the Greeks at every opportunity, and some could also be contributed to Leo himself, who caused the Mars and Ares fiasco, and who also teases him at every chance he gets.
it's getting very long now and I'm getting very unmotivated so I'm gonna leave it here and if I think of anything else I'll edit it :3
The moment we've all been waiting for... the Venice incident, when Frank killed between 200-300 monsters. He was blessed by Mars afterwards, and is described to have been more confident. Even Leo had stopped teasing him.
And THIS, dear readers, is why Frank is the physical embodiment of "I'm not a violent dog, I don't know why I bite."

Tell us more about the maids please!
okay so I already gave away a bit of lore in this post, but I'll drop some more lore
Avery and Iris and two OCs from a story I'm writing called Fool's Mate. just be warned, it is porn. like really heavy fucked up porn, and I absolutely do not recommend it to everyone. dead dove and all that. but I'll try and censor most of the nsfw stuff and keep it at least pg-13 in my lore dump
also, major major spoilers for Fool's Mate below the cut. there's only four chapters out right now, and a fifth dropping soon-ish. some of these bits of lore won't be revealed for several chapters. so only read if you want spoilers.
okay so where do I even start. well first off, this is actually a sort of adjacent / spinoff story to someone a friend of mine wrote called The Matron's Handmaiden, which is a really good M/s lesbian love story that's longer than LOTR. although it is extremely intense and hard to get into, and I certainly don't recommend it to everyone. I'm trying to write FM in a way that you won't need to have read MH to understand it, but will still be entertaining if you have. basically the only thing you need to know is that the Italian mafia exists, and runs a semi-secret operation where people get made into... let's say "less-than-willing servents"
so Fool's Mate focuses primarily on the relationship between Rosa DiAngelo and Avery Fitzgerald. Rosa's parents come from two different crime families. her father, Antonio Fiore, was a hitman for the Italian mob her, Margarita Ruiz, comes from a family that ran a drug empire in Puerto Rico until the communist revolution forced them to move to new york. being from two different cultures and competing for control of the city, Tony and Rita's families fought a lot. despite this, they fell in love with each other. although they try to treat this as a storybook Romeo and Juliette style romance (or I guess in this case West Side Story), their marriage was actually arranged so that the Italians could have a share of the opium business while the PRs received protecting from the mob, and was seen as mutually beneficial for both families.
Rosaline Fiore was the first and only child born to Rita and Tony Fiore. she grew up rich, pampered, and spoiled rotten. everything she could ever possibly want was handed to her on a silver platter. but around the time she was about 7 or 8 years old, her father started to get back in with the mob and was almost never home. to help take care of Rosaline, Tony "hired" a maid named Irene Sorello, who he renamed to Iris.
Iris had a rough life growing up. her mother left home, and her father was incredibly abusive. she was always a bit goth and into the occult and mysticism and stuff, but her father called it demon worshipping and tried to make her stop. when she was around 16, she ran away from home, and through a series of unfortunate events, ended up becoming the Fiore family's live in maid, and Rosaline's babysitter.
Iris realized early on that Rosaline was an extremely weird kid. she had almost no empathy for others. she's unsure how much of this is caused by her parents, especially her father, being neglectful, and how much of it is Rosaline's own issues. despite this, Iris deeply cared for Rosaline and did her absolutely best to take care of the princess.
Rosaline went to a private catholic high school called St Andrew's Academy. her two friends, Juno and her cousin Christina, stayed by her side no matter what. there was an incident where a classmate was being racist to her, but when Rosaline told her father about this, that girl's family mysteriously moved away. so no one fucked with her after that.
around the time Rosaline starts high school, Aiden Fitzgerald is about 7 years old. he lives in a small new york apartment with his mother, Eileen. Eileen, a single mother and Irish immigrant, struggles to raise her son on her own. she seeks help from a close friend of hers, another single mother Veronica Accardi, who also has a daughter of her own named Violet. Aiden and Violet grow up to be close friends, almost like siblings. and Ms Accardi is like a second mother to Aiden.
I'm not gonna reveal how because spoilers, but one day Eileen dies. Aiden is traumatized, and Ms Accardi volunteers to adopt him, raising him as her own son.
eventually, Aiden comes out as transgender, changing her name to Avery. Veronica and Violet are both super accepting and support her transition.
meanwhile, back at the Fiore manor, Rosaline is 18 and in her senior year. for the past year, her and Juno have been dating. but Juno has been showing more and more masculine traits, wearing the boys uniform, cutting her hair shorter. eventually, Juno comes out to Rosaline as a trans man and changes his name to Julius. Rosaline doesn't take this easily, assuming that Julius is trying to turn her straight, and the two get into a huge fight and break up. despite this, they both still have feelings for each other but are both too prideful to admit it.
Rosaline is furious, and acts like a huge brat when she's not given something she wants for the first time in her life. she takes out a lot of this anger on Iris, who takes the abuse without resisting. around this same time, her father who has only been home occasionally for the past decade announces that he's retiring from the mob the same month Rosaline leaves for college. Rosaline interpret this as her father not loving her and trying to avoid her, and feels that her low empathy and abusive tendencies (as well as a past traumatic even that I won't spoil) makes her unlovable. she tries to talk to Iris about this, realizing that she has a crush on her. but when Iris rejects her and says that Rosaline is more like a sister to her than anything, Rosaline loses her temper and whips Iris across the back so hard that she still has a scar over a decade later.
meanwhile, Avery is having simar feelings towards Violet. being by her side for her entire life, she feels a deep attraction for her. but Violet has repeatedly shown that she sees Avery as more of a little sister, and Avery feels it's too awkward to confess her feelings to her. around this time, she meets a new best friend, Rachel Goldwyn, and the two hit it off well. Rachel acts as the sort of overprotective mother of the group, and is especially needed when Violet's teenage punk antics get them into trouble.
Rosaline leaves for college, and tries to separate herself from her family as much as possible, going so far as to change her name to Rosa DiAngelo to avoid people recognizing her as a mafia princess. she sleeps around a lot, having a preference for girls with dark red hair just like Iris. Rosa and Christina hang out whenever they get a chance. but despite all this, there's still an aching feeling that she misses Julius, but will never admit it to herself.
years pass. Violet graduates high school, then Avery and Rachel a few years later. Violet starts a band who eventually get a record deal, and Rachel gets married and has a kid before she's 21. including Rachel's husband and daughter, the five of them live in a tiny crowded apartment. while Rachel and Violet are somewhat successful, Avery is an absolute failure. she can't keep a job, or a boyfriend, to save her life. the only thing she's half decent at cooking meals that Ms Accardi taught her. her main hobby is watching video game streams online alone in her room.
for her 21st birthday, Violet and Rachel basically force Avery out of the house to go to a nightclub, despite how much Avery hates it. there, she meets someone who can't keep her eyes off her; Rosa DiAngelo.
and that's at least most of the backstory for my OCs so far. I'm currently writing chapter 5, which is a flashback to were Avery and Rosa first meet. and I plan on introducing Iris properly in a few chapters, too, as well as giving Rosa a bit of a family reunion.
if you wanna hear more nsfw details or want a link to the current four chapters, dm my other blog @angel-in-shibari, because I am NOT posting them here lmao

How I Use Dwarf Planets
I thought it would be useful to write a brief summary of where my astrological practice is at, at the moment - especially with the outer planets, which are the majority of what I write about. I’m not saying this is the only way to do things, or even that I’ll stick with it, but, for now, I’m hoping it’ll help.
Selecting Objects
Astronomers are aware of 1.3 million asteroids, 3900 comets, 8 planets and an indeterminate amount of dwarf planets in this solar system. astro.com allows you to track a really limited number of them at any one time. It would be fascinating to do astrology with all of them at once but if we did that indiscriminately it would fill every single space on everyone’s natal chart. We have to make some judgements on what to include. So, what should we include?
The sun is an obvious one. 99.85% of everything in the solar system is the Sun. Size is a pretty obvious thing to base astrology on. But from this basis, we may as well just look at sun signs. We can rule out the idea that light is the factor, because basically all the light in the solar system is from the Sun.
Visibility and impact on Earth, though, might count for something. The Moon isn’t particularly big, objectively, but it’s close and therefore matters. It doesn’t emit its own light but we see it because the light of the Sun reflects off it. It’s hard to argue that the Moon doesn’t impact things on Earth. It clearly does. Other planets are less clear but, for example, we know that the 2.4 million year cycle of Mars and Earth’s orbital resonance has an impact on the Earth’s oceans.
There’s a certain logic in choosing objects in astrology that are big and/or visible. Going purely on visibility - Vesta, Pallas, Ceres, Iris, Juno, Hebe, Eunomia, Melpomene, Flora and Bamberga are all brighter than Neptune. There’d be a logic in ditching Pluto and using them. But I don’t think we want to do that.
If we include size. I’m sorry but Eris and Pluto are pretty much identical in size and neither feature at all in terms of visibility - use one and objectively you should use the other. But if we’re using them because they’re around 2300 km in diameter why not include Haumea with its 1560 km diameter? Eris and Pluto are substantially smaller than the other planets. We can include only those two as dwarf planets but if we do, we have to at least side eye the 7 other significantly sized dwarf planets in their region plus Ceres.
Another way to select objects to use is uniqueness. This is how some people justify using Chiron despite it not being significant at all in terms of size or brightness. It is weird in that it’s half comet half asteroid, has rings, and has this weird unstable orbit. But Chariklo is a bigger centaur type asteroid with better rings. If you wanted a unique exemplar of this type of object, it would be Chariklo, not Chiron. Pholus is bigger that Chiron too. Chiron isn’t even second place.
So why do we use Chiron? Because it was discovered first and due to its relatively large size and being unique, it was considered a possible tenth planet. It stayed relevant because Zane Stein pioneered its use, got its ephemeris, and his ideas were adopted widely. Is there a logic to say that Chiron matters because we’re aware of it?
Some astrologers think so. There’s a book that argues Pluto will lose astrological importance as it loses its planet status. But most astrologers will talk about the Pluto return of the United States and other historic events. If you’re rejecting the astrological method when it sees correspondences before the arbitrary date of a planet’s discovery, why not reject astrology out of hand?
I’m coming to think that maybe we tune in, more or less, to objects. If you follow and work with Chiron, I have space in my heart for that being significant for you. A series of cycles you’re aware of and follow and use. I think it probably helps that with Chiron a lot of the signifiers are quite inward looking - core wounding, trauma, healing. Things you can tune into and investigate on a personal level.
So. Look, astrology is not a science, I have a few factors here but no clarity on how they mesh together or what’s more important. These are:
Size
Brightness
Cultural Awareness
Personal Awareness
Uniqueness
I’d like to add one more. Call it staying power. I personally believe this is the key to Pluto’s success. It may be distant but it’s also slow. If it forms an aspect to one of your natal planets, it’ll stay there a long time. At time of writing, Pluto is at 1°50 of Aquarius. A year ago it was at 0°06. The sun has covered the whole chart in the time it took for Pluto to move a single degree. If your natal Venus is conjunct a transiting Pluto, you’ll feel that for years. Pluto is twice as fast as Eris and about 46 times faster than Sedna. The outer dwarf planets interest me because even if their influence is slight it lasts for years, decades even.
Why I use the planets I do
Taking a look at the lists above I hope you can see that the eight planets acknowledged by astronomy are always the top contenders if you combine discovery date, brightness and size. Eris and Pluto aren’t far behind on size - not counting moons they’re the 11th and 12th biggest objects. They’re much dimmer but they make up for it - in my opinion - by moving slowly and applying their influence over a long period of time.
I also use Sedna, which is an odd one out here. It’s the 19th biggest object and the only known dwarf planet with an orbit that goes beyond the Kuiper Belt. The class of Sednoid objects are named after it. Right now, it’s the exemplar of its type. It’s the object that took over from Pluto as the most distant planet we can meaningfully use in astrology. That’s not insignificant. It’s the guardian of the border between what we know and what is still unknown.
I keep my eye on the other outer Dwarf planets - Haumea, Makemake, Gonggong, Orcus, Quaoar, and Salacia. If I was going purely on size, I’d also use Ceres. If I wanted to think about brightness, I’d be looking at other objects entirely. But I enjoy the slowness of the outer dwarves - how their energy is generational and their influence is long lasting. Because their aspects last a long time I think it’s very possible to find their signature in history. But as day-to-day tools of astrology I believe that as with Chiron, a certain level of attunement to them is necessary to get stuff out of them. This is why I’m currently mostly focusing mostly on Sedna. I believe it’s better to give time to planets individually and a person has only so much bandwidth for that.
What I look for
The level of inexactness that’s allowable for an aspect in astrology is called an orb - this comes from the area around a star in the sky that the light expands out into. One way to think of this is to imagine the classic star shape. We know stars are round. The pointy bits coming out of it are its orb.
I use different orbs depending on what I’m doing. Basically, transits to a person’s natal chart, or in the night sky, often pass and are gone. Mercury has about three days when it’s close to Eris so any Mercury-Eris energy has only a limited time to play out in your life. If it’s felt consciously it’s more likely to be a bolt of very clear Mercury-Erisness when the energy is most powerful.
However, on a natal chart the planets don’t move because it’s a snapshot of a particular time. For this reason I use a wider orb. If Mercury and Eris are conjunct within ten degrees the energy you’ll feel from that will be subtle but over an entire lifetime, you might notice something. I also use wider orbs with mundane astrology (world events). Basically because when you’re looking at the whole world it’s more likely that some people will feel an aspect in play and respond to it.
My general basic rule is to look for 3 degree aspects between planets, 1 degree aspects between dwarf planets, and 1 degree aspects between asteroids but only conjunctions or oppositions. If I’m doing a deep dive on a natal chart I may look at 10 degree aspects between planets and 5 degree aspects between dwarf planets. I use the aspects that are based on splitting the zodiac wheel into 12 - so Conjunctions, Semisextiles, Sextiles, Squares, Trines, Quincunxes and Oppositions. But I pay more attention to Conjunctions, Squares and Oppositions. If I look at other aspects based on other ways to split up the zodiac (quintiles, etc) I am only really interested in very exact aspects.
Generally, if a dwarf planet is making itself felt in astrology I’d only pay attention if it will have a significance on my personal chart.
So, for instance, the Salacia-Gonggong conjunction that coincided with the birth of the internet was pretty significant in mundane astrology. It’s not necessary that everyone with it in their charts will be technologically literate to a high level (though obviously those born with it in their charts are part of the first generation of digital natives). However, the aspect is significant when it plays off something else in the chart. For instance Grimes has it square her AC and DC and her techno-optimist beliefs were core to her sense of self and how she met her husband Elon Musk. This means they’re also why she ended up as insane as she is now.
I think if we keep the rule in mind that dwarf planets have limited orbs and are most significant if they’re at work on other things in a chart, we can use them without overwhelming astrology by including more points than we can meaningfully hold space for in our lives. That’s the goal, anyway.

hey what are wlw shows you would recommend?
this question made me a little sad because the amount of good quality shows with wlw leads is just not a lot (really waiting for that gl industry to go wild huh) and made me realise why i go looking for good rep in other places
anywho wlw shows with a wlw main character or romance i’ve enjoyed lately (sorry if you are looking for more bl/gl type recs; i don’t have those):
- anne+ (a dutch series made by queer women; currently only available on netflix in the netherlands/belgium so if you have a vpn please check it out; it’s definitely worth it this post lists other places you could watch it depending on what country you are in)
- killing eve (im assuming most people have heard of this one);
- dickinson (based on emily dickinson with a contemporary twist);
- i am not okay with this (comicbook-esque teen drama that sadly wasn’t picked up for a second season - so be mindful of that);
- the haunting of bly manor (horror and tears; be warned)
there’s a few more tv shows that have wlw side/ensemble characters/romances so if you are interested in those i could list those as well but honestly the main meat of that will always be black sails which is truly the best tv show of all time and has canon bisexual, lesbian and gay characters; but also just has the best writing of a show i have ever seen.
and if you are like me and are always a little unsatisfied with the wlw tv shows options available (especially the lack of genre diversity) and don’t mind exploring other mediums i would highly recommend trying out fiction podcasts. specifically; mabel (thriller fairies with the most stunning prose even if i understand about 50% of what’s happening), alice isn’t dead (from the creators of welcome to night vale!), the strange case of starship iris (sci-fi baby!) and the penumbra podcast - the juno steel stories specifically (there is a wlw couple that gets introduced in season 2 and become main characters in season 3; but the queer rep in here is amazing and it has a non-binary main character!).
and because now i’ve started recommending wlw material i’ve enjoyed lately i might as well share the books i’ve read the past year as well because this is where i’ve gotten the bulk of my enjoyment lately; the seven husbands of evelyn hugo (historical novel, mostly), this is how you lose the time war (sci-fi?), the priory of the orange tree (high fantasy), something to talk about (romance), the falling in love montage (ya novel)

OOC, it's just the handle I chose after realizing "yeah no, not cis", Anne was stolen from Anne Faulkner/AnZ (this gorgeous motherfucker who just so happens to be enby and definitely made it much harder to stay in the closet)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for Aleph, it's a mathematical term for ordering sets of infinity, but I mostly just thought it sounded cool (especially since I learned of it in a song by LeaF which rules)
When it comes to Anne, the story is just that, that's the handle I use, that's the name I'd give my character
Juno is the Azem, Anne's previous life before the sundering, and I chose that one less because of the roman god, but because before going by Anne, I spent some time trying out a gender neutral name, Juno, so their name is literally the name that I (Anne) went by in the past, poetry at work! Also, Juno does go by the surname Aleph now, but he had it first, not Anne. When he met her, she refused to tell him her first name and had no surname, so he just gave her theirs and claims they're distant cousins
Iris Natalie Lumiere was a hard one because I was torn between Iris (Based on the Battle Network 6 character who I had a crush on as a kid), Karine (My actual chosen name) and Natalie (Based on the song "nATALIE" by Lemn, which filled so many nights for me), then I decided to not decide. Lumiere is a surname I used to go by too and she's Sharlayan so it fit well
WoL QotD: What made you choose your WoL's name? Does it have any important meaning or did it just sound nice?
Follow up: Is it lore accurate? If it isn't, why not?

Podcatch of the Week
Tumblr media
[The Penumbra Podcast Logo: A plain purple background with The Penumbra curved on top and Podcast at the bottom. In the middle is a dial like you might see on an old fashioned elevator. The writing and dial are in white and yellow /End Discription]
The Penumbra Podcast - by Sophie Kaner and Kevin Vibrant
The Hook:  Welcome, Traveler.
At the Penumbra, you might follow Juno Steel, a brooding, sharp-witted private eye on Mars, as he tangles with an elusive homme fatale, tracks dangerous artifacts of an ancient alien civilization, and faces his three greatest fears: heights, blood, and relationships.
Or you might enter the world of the Second Citadel, where the merciless Sir Caroline must corral a team of emotionally distraught all-male knights to defend their city against mind-manipulating monsters...even the ones they’ve fallen in love with. These audio dramas and more await you in the Penumbra, dear traveler. We hope you enjoy your stay.  - Their Website
Favourite Line:
JUNO: I’m more of a pistols-at-dawn type. Or pistols whenever, honestly. (Spoiler): Well, I’m afraid I’m not. Fisticuffs it is. JUNO: (WINDED) Doesn’t seem very gentlemanly of you to pick a fight you know you can win. (Spoiler): Detective, a gentleman picks only fights he knows he can win. That is the essence of class. JUNO: Well, I’m more of a lady myself, anyway.
Thoughts: Want some Space Detective? Penumbra Podcast. Want some Knights? Penumbra Podcast. Want excellent trope bending and writing? Penumbra Podcast. Want them all to be queer? Penumbra Podcast.
The Podcast they started out doing an anthology feel with different unrelated stories between the Juno Steel serial, but they soon settled on Juno Steel serials and Second Citadel serials. The two stories are unrelated but both are excellent. This is one of those podcasts where it’s doing all the things I want it to do. There’s nothing I would change. The plots are so interesting and every single character has their own voice and perspective. You might be rooting for two people on opposing sides following different codes. It’s also a fun podcast. The dialogue has especially good back and forth. Good comedy paired with good drama.
Patreon: Yes, search for Penumbra Podcast
LGBTQA+ Characters: I think almost every character is.
Transcript Available: Yes
If you liked: the Magnus Archives, the Adventures of Sir Rodney the Root, the Strange Case of the Starship Iris, Pasithea Powder, the Once and Future Nerd, or Wolf 359 you might like the Penumbra Podcast

Enjoying the Penumbra Podcast? Please reblog and spread the word. Podcasts are usually passion projects and need the support of their listeners to get the word out. Catch you next week!

In your TttW-verse, things go... very much not according to Bahamut‘s Plan, so... My ask would be: What are Noctis and Co like in this Verse? How different would especially Noctis be, what with being the son of two Galahdian Vitae (who also part-time as King and Queen of Lucis).
Hmmm, mostly in character? But just- wilder and more Galahdian.
-Noctis is actually taken on by Ardyn as an apprentice of sorts because Fellow Chosen, adores his Gruncle to no end. Very snarky and warptastic, does not run into the marilith so is actually VERY active and outdoorsy but also very catlike in that he will totally flop over and nap if sitting down in a sunny warm spot for more than 10 seconds.
-Still loves fishing.
-Is the Warp bby of the group. Has been warping since he was 2-3 and would rather warp over to the out of reach tv remote and knock everything over than use the legs evolution gave him and walk five steps over to it.
-Can, will, and has thrown hands with nobles he doesn’t like because this boy is 1000% his mother’s son.
-Challenged for the Trial at 14 like his Uncle Cor. When everyone said “no, you have to wait” this boy pouted for all of two hours before convincing Gladio to help him take the Trial early by hiking out into the Jungle with him.
-That lasted less than a day before the Pride itself dragged him and Gladio back home like naughty kittens because They Know that Noct is too young and Gladio has already passed his Trial and they Are Not Supposed To Be Out Here Yet.
-Prompto is adopted straight up by Cor after he busts bby Prom out of the Nif lab. While all Galahd gears up to Wipe Niflheim Off the Face of the Earth (because of that Law I mentioned in another HC about all the Clans turning on people who murder kids, this goes even further than Kinslayer LCs and they WON’T stand for it) Cor brings home bby Prompto and it just- “Mine. My bby now.”
-Consider Galahd’s culture norms nobody bat an eye on Cor adopting the bby Prom. They just want to know who gets first dibs on babysitting.
-Prompto grows up WAY more confident in himself. Still Sunshine Boi, still scared of the dark/enclosed spaces/heights but is 100% more down for the wilderness and Thrives under Galahd teachings.
-Assuming Cor is married by this point, that means Prom grows up with 2 moms. 1 is Cor’s wife. The other is his Coeurl. It is really no surprise that Prompto figure out how to purr at like- age 5.
-Still loves his camera. Gets along with the Canere Clan kids like a house on fire.
-Magic given to him at age 2 by Cor’s wife with the assumption that someday she will retract it and Noctis will give it instead. Stealth bby. Prompto once managed to somehow disappear for 5 hours, driving Cor, his wife, the Coeurl, and everyone in a two mile radius UTTERLY INSANE until the Coeurl finally tracked him down ... in his crib. Where he’d been. For the last five hours. Three of those hours have been spent peacefully napping after he fell asleep in the middle of playing hide and seek with his dad (that he did not tell Cor about ahead of time because Toddler Brain)
-Has known Noct since they were tiny bbys and consider each other literal siblings (picture teeny 5-ish yr old Noct and Prom clumsily trying to braid sibling braids into each other’s hair and not managing it because TINY CHILDREN while Regis and Cor both quietly die from cuteness in the corner).
-Gladio. Clarus didn’t ... MEAN for his kid to grow up Very Feral it just kinda happened because Galahdians and Cor. This guy gets along WAYYYY too well with the Bellum kids for Clarus’s sanity but he’s also doggedly loyal and thriving in the outdoor jungle environment so....
-Juno is surprisingly Chill with having her kids be brainwashed by Galahdians. Even if she herself is only peripherally part of the culture via Exposure. Then again she gets along SPLENDIDLY with Cor’s wife and Aulea so...
-Met Noct when Noct was born and, in true Amicitia and Bellum fashion, went- MINE and actually tried to Throw Hands with the nurses because YOU AREN’T CLAN, GET AWAY FROM MY BBY BROTHER. All of the nurses who WERE in fact Ostium thank you just patted his head and went about their tasks with a three year old chasing them around screeching.
-This Gladio never criticized Noctis as spoiled, he IS the one who spoils Noct. He is determined to be the Best Big Bro Ever and the impulse only gets worse when Prompto and then later Iris arrive.
-Gladio is not born with magic but he is given it by Noct when Noct is like- 7. Gladio immediately becomes a Shield bby. He can and will spam shield spells for any reason, any time. Noctis uses Gladio’s shields as a slide. Prom likes mushing his face against them for the tingly feeling.
-Ignis is the group Ostium, but also the group Sane Man. Was inducted the latest into Galahd culture at age ... 10-ish when it became clear that Noct, Prom, and Gladio all Needed A Handler and there were not Ostium children currently available for the job.
-Thinks they are all Nuts. And will think that to the day he dies.
-But he’s right there with them so he guess’s he’s nuts too.
-Actually was the Problem Relationship rather than Gladio in this Au because he was trying to be Proper Servant Of the Prince and Noct kept trying to treat him like Clan and Sibling. Ignis thought Noctis was reckless and spoiled and wild and Noctis thought Ignis needed surgery to get the stick out of his butt.
-Then Noct when on an Adventure without Prom and Gladio for whatever reason and met a Scary Beast and Ignis came hurtling out of the brush, glasses askew and screeching like a banshee. Successfully scared off the beastie with Sheer Spite and Desperation. Noctis spent the trip back crying into Ignis’s shoulder and bonding magically to him. Ignis made it all the way back to the frantic village before bursting into tears as well.
-Loves cooking. Loves learning Galahd dishes. Its the first thing he actually likes about this jungle place he got dragged off to. Also promising Noctis food is basically his go-to method to get this Warptastic child to SIT DOWN FOR FIFTEEN SECONDS and do his homework or whatever.
-Ostium take one look at this frazzled, exasperated child and went “Ohhhh so THIS is what the Ulrics feel like when finding a new LC stray. This is our child now. Ostium soul in the wrong bloodline. We shall fix that with a controlled shock adoption.”
-Ignis has no idea why he needs to be adopted by the Ostium but the King is saying to go with it so okay.
-Being adopted by the Ostium proves instantly worth it because they have INSIDER TIPS on handling Warptastic morons and they have healing techniques they are willing to share even if he doesn’t have Oracle magic.
-Still does his best to convince Noct to Not Throw Hands with the nobles all the time.
-Gets into a lot of fights with Gladio over Throwing Hands on Noct’s Behalf.
-Thinks Prom is the perfect child until Prom accidentally Stealths into the kitchen and gives Ignis a heart attack. Then Prom is the Sneaky Child.
-Ends up the Elemency bby of the group. Can and will Set Everything On Fire when pushed far enough.
-Probably ends up Bewildered and Courted at age 18 by a spitfire Altius girl (Crowe maybe?) because all the Clans think Ignis is Amazing™ for handling the Chocobros as well as he does.

Hey hey! Do you have a tag or master list I can check on to catch up on your OC writing? I am woefully behind on heckin everything ^-^’ ~ shsl-whump (p.s. who do you consider your topmost favourite characters in all of media, like, top three to five? You’re the second person I’ve asked this question, but I am genuinely curious about this kinda thing)
As soon as I sent that last ask, I found your master list X| ~ shsl-whump
Oh I’m glad you found it, @shsl-whump! The link to my masterlist is in my bio, if anyone else is looking for it :) I’m always so happy to hear that people want to read my writing.
That’s a hard question because I consume a lot of media but really casually so I don’t always tend to get obsessed with characters. Having said that, here’s my list:
1) Q from the new Bond films, because he’s very cute and my perfect whumpee type and I just want to see him hurt because I’m mean and he’s a cinnamon roll who is actually competent and could probably kill you... with a computer or something
2) Sherlock Holmes, in pretty much any variation but I especially like him in Elementary and the films with Robert Downey Jr. I’ve liked the tales of the eccentric detective and his companion since I was a kid, so he’s like, one of my longer term favourite characters
3) Arkady Patel from The Strange Case of Starship Iris, who is a badass rebel and one of my favourite gays in space, slightly clueless at romance, and grows her own plants on a spaceship, what’s not to love
4) Parker from Leverage, she’s basically canon autistic rep and I love her so much, she’s a big mood and a really competent thief who is respected and loved by her team, she’s just really great
5) Juno Steel from The Penumbra Podcast, he’s such a mood, has way too little self preservation instinct, drinks too much and falls for people who could and would kill him, poor lady just needs some time with friends and some good self care tbh
