Ep 8: Camellia + goshawk. The camellia means "single-minded love, ideal love," in reference to Miyo's conversations with Hazuki and Kaoruko about love. The goshawk represents Takakura. The color purple is for Prince Takaihito.

Ep 9: Snow-covered cherry blossoms, like in Takaihito's words from the previous episode: "The snow-covered dream flowers bring the curtains of night down." Also features a male mandarin duck in the top right and a female one in the bottom left, looking at each other. Their eyes have a touch of Kiyoka's and Miyo's eye color. The top left corner also hides a gun.

Ep 10: No card

Ep 11: Pink phalaenopsis and lily of the valley + dove. The flowers mean "I love you," and "return of happiness", respectively. The long, thin leaves are reminiscent of bear grass, and it incorporates the leaves of heart vine, which is believed to bring love to fruition. The dove represents Kiyo-kun.

Ep 12: Thistles + heron. The thistle has a variety of flower meanings such as "revenge," "parting," "don't touch me," and "peace of mind". The heron is deeply connected to the concept of life and death around the world.

Ep 13: Flowers from the ending + a couple of mandarin ducks. The flowers include cherry blossoms, lilies of the valley, canola flowers, gerberas, lillies, etc.

"Why do you want to win the X title, Yang Cheng?" Xia Qing asked. Her doe brown eyes stare into his dull grey-blue eyes. "You know why, Xia Qing..." Yang Cheng's voice cracks with grief and anger.

"Yang Cheng... He's dead... We can't bring people back from the dead. We can't turn back time." Her voice is thick with concern and sadness.

"X's fans believe he's omnipotent. If I gain the title of X, then MG says that they'll spread a rumor that I can have the power to go back in time. With the help of the X title, I can."

"I can stop him from killing Shang Chao, or-" "Or kill the person that shot Shang Chao... Are you willing to go that far to save Shang Chao? Are you willing to kill someone?" Xia Qing asked, fearing the person who her little brother looked up to.

Yang Cheng didn't respond. "Yang Cheng, look me in the eyes and tell me that you won't kill someone..." He didn't meet her gaze.

"Yang Cheng-" "I have to go. See Ya, Xia Qing. Tell Pomelo I said hi." Yang Cheng stood up. He grabbed his helmet and put it on. He used his powers and ran off, leaving a conflicted Xia Qing.

Xia Qing sighs. She grabbed her purse and looked up at the sky. "Shang Chao... I think we're losing him... Why did you have to die?" Xia Qing wiped the tears from her eyes and walked away.

"Look, it's E-Soul!" "He's probably patrolling." "He's such an attentive hero!" Yang Cheng paid them no mind; he had somewhere to be. He arrived at the cemetery in no time. He laid down a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, pink roses, and red hibiscus on Shang Chao's grave.

Each flower holds a different meaning. White chrysanthemums hold the meaning of death and grief, pink roses mean romance and friendship, and red hibiscus means riches, fame, and delicate beauty, but they can also mean fleeting glory, fame, and beauty.

"Shang Chao... I- I miss you. It's been 5 years since that bastard killed you. I'm sorry that I wasn't fast enough... I'm sorry that I didn't believe in myself... I could've saved you... The bullet was meant for me... It should've been me..."

Yang Cheng kneels on his grave, tears cascading down his face. "Part of me wants to die in battle so I can see you again, but another part wants me to live and win the title of X so I can bring you back."

"I tracked him down and I begged him... I begged X to use his powers to bring you back. He says that his powers don't work like that... I don't believe him... I think he doesn't want to deal with the consequences that bringing the dead will have."

"Shang Chao... I'm sorry it took me so long to tell you this; I love you, Shang Chao... And I know you love me too... Your dad gave me your journal a week after your funeral. Alongside your schematics and blueprints, there were doodles of me and you together, heart doodles of our initials, and poems about me..."

Yang Cheng took a deep breath. "I thought that I liked Xia Qing, but it was just a crush. You were the one who made my heart beat. I'm sorry that I didn't realize sooner."

"The 21st hero tournament is starting soon. There's also a new hero... Well, technically not really. Nice died, and his manager replaced him. Do you remember Enlighter? Yeah, he's God Eye now. And the Nice replacement? He's now The Commoner. He's ranked 10 now."

"But don't worry, I'm still higher~ Even if it's only a rank higher, but I still have more experience than him." Yang Cheng smiles for a bit before it falters. He slowly stood up. "Don't worry, Shang Chao. I'll bring you back... no matter what. I promise that I will win the hero tournament and claim the title of X. Soon, you'll be next to me, whether it be in life or death." Yang Cheng kissed the top of the grave and used his powers to run away. He had a hero to find.

Kitchen Witchery: Elminx's Anti-anxietea

In honor of eclipse season, I wanted to share a recipe to bring your buzz down a notch (or two). I've been drinking this nervine tea for nearly five years now; it features all of my favorite herbal flavors! I'm not going to go into detailed herbal profiles for each of these botanicals, but I suggest looking into them more if you are curious. I think learning the basics of herbalism can greatly benefit the kitchen witch.

Each of these ingredients can be found in any decent grocery store, bought online, or grown yourself. The combination is designed with flavor and herbal actions in mind; it's not a measure of exact ingredients - mix with your heart. All of these botanicals are well tolerated and can be drunk regularly by most people. Please be careful when trying new herbs; allergic or other adverse reactions can occur.

Hibiscus, Hibiscus sabdariffa Hibiscus is the primary flavoring agent in this blend. It gives our tea its Cool, Moist, and Sour properties. Please keep in mind that hibiscus will stain anything it comes into contact with, including clothing, wooden spoons, and even countertops. If you don't think you're familiar with hibiscus, it is the primary flavor in all "Zinger" teas. It tastes tart and inexplicably red.

Peppermint, Mentha piperito

Peppermint is the first of our gentle nervines to be added to our tea. Nervines do exactly what you expect them to: they calm your nerves. In addition to being a nervine (primary benefit), Peppermint adds its properties of Pungent, Sweet, Cool, Warm, and Dry to our tea. I'm sure you're all familiar with peppermint; you could probably substitute a different mint here with similar effect.

Lemon Balm, Melissa officinalis

Lemon balm is a nervine and a mild sedative. It brings the properties of Sour, Cool, and Dry to our tea. Some people don't like the taste of lemon balm, saying that it tastes like Pledge. If that's you, just omit it from this drink. The taste of hibiscus strongly overpowers the lemon balm, though, so maybe try it first.

Tulsi (Holy Basil), Ocimun santum

Tulsi is a nervine and adaptogenic herb, which means that it helps the body manage stress better. Its properties are Pungent, Sweet, Bitter, and Warm. With its heady, peppery notes, Tulsi is certainly an acquired flavor. If you get along with this herb, you will know almost immediately upon drinking it for the first time. A little goes a long way; you don't need to overdo it.

Dried Apple, Malus sp.

Although apple is primarily a flavoring agent (and sometimes a sweetening agent) in this blend, it does have mild sedative effects that lend themselves to the overall feel of this tea. I suggest using the apples you would eat in this recipe; you can dry slices of apples by putting them in your oven at 225F for 1.5 to 2 hours. Use a sweeter apple if you want a sweeter tea.

Minx's Anti-Anxietea

2 parts hibiscus

1 part peppermint

1 part lemon balm

1-2 parts dried apple

.5 part tulsi

Start by adding 1 tsp tea to hot water and steeping for 8 minutes. Adjust to your tastes from there.

This drink tastes great, hot or cold.

I've never sweetened this tea because I like my drinks bitter like my soul, but I bet a dollop of honey would be lovely in this—especially a nice summery wildflower honey. I've added sweetened cranberries in the past (1-2 parts) for more sweetness. And honestly, I don't measure. I know when it smells right.

I apply this drink liberally, but some people may find it too strong a diuretic to consume more than once daily. I drink it any time that I feel especially anxious or when I know I am going to be under a lot of stress. My partner likes to drink it before bedtime and claims it's one of the only things that will calm them down when they feel like they have too many thoughts.

You can witch this up (it's a verb now!) as little or as much as you like. I like to work calming energy into the drink step by step as I create the mixture by working with each botanical individually. You could charge this with a candle or sigil, dedicate it to one of your favorite gods or spirits, or store it on your altar. I create bindrunes for my favorite tea blends and use them as magical labels.

Guy and Jasper

Guy always gets black coffee, no sugar, no cream. Consumes only premium coffee blends. Grumbles loudly that Jasper’s Avari red coffee is clearly superior.

Baristas ask Jasper for tips and tricks on brewing coffee. Upon hearing this, Lance begrudgingly informs the baristas to be wary of letting him make drinks unsupervised, unless they want additional potions added to them.

Toa and Knight

When drinking in public, Toa orders a black coffee, no cream 5 sugars. If Toa gets the drink delivered to him and he drinks in the privacy of his quarters—Caramel ribbon frappe crunch, extra caramel, extra crunchy toppings, extra whip cream.

Toa frequently orders one cat-shaped cake-pop for Knight. Knight complains each time, lamenting he’s not a child. Toa ignores the complaints, since Knight says them while polishing off the cake-pop.

Lynt and Tino

If ordering alone, Lynt gets a bottle of natural spring mineral water. If Lynt is ordering with Tino…Lynt still reaches for a bottle of water, but after hearing Tino lament over the prince’s lack of desire to consume anything, he’ll grab an iced green tea. Lynt drinks three sips of tea before giving it to Tino.

Regardless of the weather, Tino gets the classic hot chocolate and pours the beverage in a mug passed down from his grandmother.

Fenn and Violet

Fenn has tried EVERY drink at least once. Flirts with baristas shamelessly to get extra shots of vanilla or espresso in his drinks. Is personally responsible for half of the secret drink menu items such as the purple drink, the raspberry cheesecake Frappuccino, the sour patch kids drink, and the apple martini refresher.

Regardless of which drink he orders, Fenn always orders a second drink—a mango dragonfruit refresher. This drink is given to Violet, who often combines the drink with Luxuran blue wine before going out on a date.

Roy, Sherry, and Grayson

Roy has tried every tea drink on the menu, including those on the secret drink menu. He always adds a few Invidian tea leaves to his tea. When Roy doesn’t have tea, he usually orders the pink drink with extra strawberries.

When he goes out with Sherry, Roy smiles indulgently and gets two unicorn Frappuccinos, with extra whip cream and raspberry syrup.

Grayson refuses to imbibe in the unicorn drink, despite Sherry’s pleas. Grayson on a sugar high is nearly as eventful as Grayson imbibing alcohol.

Rio and Thoma

On more than one occasion, Rio has paid for the drink order of the person behind him. Will happily drink anything and often asks the barista for their favorite drink and choose that.

When it’s Fall though, Rio orders only pumpkin spice lattes or Frappuccinos. All hail Rio, the prince of pumpkin spice. Thoma, conversely, DESPISES pumpkin spice, with a passion of a thousand fiery suns. Thoma LOVES Apple crisp Frappuccinos.

Lance

Refuses to contribute money to the soulless corporate machine known as Starbucks. Nope.

Dia, Jay, and Lou

Dia never picks up his orders in person. Jay picks up a very berry hibiscus lemonade on behalf of his young charge and then gets an Earl Grey tea for himself. The pair then split an order of kale and mushroom egg bites. Dia’s mood sours greatly if the egg bites are not available.

The other half of the secret drink menu not made by Fenn was created by Lou. Often, Lou will simply point to random ingredients near the barista and ask if they can be combined.

No Lou, don’t combine espresso and lemonade. Just don’t.

Hey there! So you know the official art of Ralsei titled "Floralsei" where he's surrounded by flowers? I've been interested in the possible symbolisms behind these flowers and wanted to share a bit of my analysis with you haha. (I know there's a chance that merch isn't canon, but we also get "Weird Route" foreshadowing through the Line Stickers, so who knows? ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

In the picture, I think we can identify several flowers such as 1. "Red Roses", 2. "Lily of the Valley", 3. "African Violet" , 4. "Hibiscus",5. "Snapdragons" and 6. "Forget-Me-Nots". (link to pic: https://imgur.com/a/NXAs1jv) I'll try to list the symbolism of each one here…

"Red Roses": These flowers are placed prominently in the center, forming Ralsei's scarf and adorning his hat. While they appear as dark pink in the artwork, I interpret them as representing red, especially considering Ralsei's default scarf is called the Red Scarf. Red roses are traditionally associated with romantic love, which aligns with Ralsei's one-sided affection towards Kris.

"Lily of the Valley": This flower symbolizes purity, happiness, and sweetness. It carries diverse symbolism and is often used in various settings, such as weddings and religious ceremonies, to convey messages of hope, purity, and the joy of new beginnings.

"African Violet": (I'm not entirely certain about this, but the shape seems to resemble the flower in the pic…) This flower signifies loyalty, devotion, and faithfulness. In addition to representing faithfulness and fidelity, African Violets can also convey admiration and respect, especially when given as a token of high esteem.

"Hibiscus": Often associated with beauty, femininity, and delicate charm, the hibiscus is known for its stunning appearance and vibrant colors. It symbolizes delicate beauty, youthfulness, and a sense of joy.

"Snapdragons": These flowers embody both deception and gracefulness. "Forget-Me-Nots": These flowers serve as a clear reminder of the phrase "Don't Forget." (It reminds me of Ralsei's Line Sticker where he's depicted singing "Don't Forget.")

Moving on to your analysis of the different types of flowers... there's not too much I can really add here I feel - flowers and their meanings are sadly not my forte. However, a lot of the meanings you transcribed here do definitely relate to Ralsei and his character. Of particular note is the Snapdragon and its allusion to "deception" - as you rightly state, our favourite fluffy boy is definitely withholding crucial information from everyone, both about the plot at large and his own character.

You know what else caught my eye, actually? I'm just checked because I wasn't sure if I was misremembering, but Lily of the Valley is actually poisonous, and can cause skin irritation if touched directly, and its berries can cause serious harm or even death if ingested. It's a stretch, but applying this to Floralsei (what a name, by the way!) you could perhaps posit that whatever secret he's keeping, it's so dangerous it might cause irreparable damage if it were to ever come out. Or perhaps it's a warning - he may be pretty, but get too close and you'll get hurt.

With that said, however, I don't actually think Ralsei is secretly malicious or anything like that. My current theory is that he's not telling us stuff for two reasons - one is that he's directly serving the narrative by revealing pieces of vital information at critical moments in the story, as evidenced by the dramatic reveal of the Roaring and the Titans JUST before Berdly creates a new dark fountain in the cyber world; and the other is that he is trying to protect his friends from information that they might find distressing, and/or won't be relevant to them unless the worst case scenario happens (which it's obviously gonna... but I digress).

I'm sorry I couldn't really add any more to this discussion, because it is quite fascinating! I'd be quite interested to see what others think, if any further insight can be provided on this topic!

Flower Power Tea Blend

I decided I wanted a pretty tea today, so to celebrate my new flower haul, we're trying out a sweet blend.

Herbs used:

Chamomile flower (Matricaria chamomilla)

Blue cornflower petals (Centaurea cyanus)

Hibiscus flower (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis)

I did not measure these in specific amounts, as I was mostly experimenting with flavors. The majority was chamomile, with slightly less cornflower. If you're working with hibiscus, know it is a pretty potent flower so a little goes a long way. For this blend I only used one or two dried flowers.

[Those few dark red bits are the hibiscus to give you an idea. I broke them up into smaller pieces.]

I poured boiled water, enough for a couple full cups (I use large tea mugs), and let it steep for at least 5 minutes. Typically with hibiscus-heavy teas, it only takes a few minutes or it can get really potent really fast, but since there wasn't too much I was happy to let it go for a while longer. Chamomile, I've found, is happy to be steeped for however long you want and it doesn't tend to get bitter. (Within reason of course--don't steep it for like 30 minutes or anything.)

The result was a pretty golden tea with a faint red tint (would have been darker if I'd used more hibiscus). This is a really pleasant tea. Dominant chamomile flavor, which has a sweet honey taste, with a hint of something earthier from the cornflower and overtones of the sour hibiscus. I highly recommend it with a pinch of honey to enhance the chamomile flavor. Will absolutely make again and play with the ratios more.

It would be a decent tea to make with a bad tummy, as the chamomile is soothing, while hibiscus is known to support heart health. Cornflower is a newer one to me, but it can be made into a tonic that supports digestion, and has been used historically to aid with rheumatic complaints. In the quantities I'm using for all these herbs, they are not at all medicinal doses. On their own, I've heard cornflower makes a really lovely, mellow tasting tea, though I admit I'm a little disappointed the petals don't make the tea blue.

Wow. I read this one in two days because I couldn't put it down.

Fabiola is leaving Haiti on her way to a new life in America, when customs detains her mother at the airport. She's left on her own to adjust to life with her raucous cousins, the "Three Bees" who rule their Detroit neighborhood. When an awful opportunity arrives, she must decide to what lengths she'll go to help her mother--the "shit you do for fam", as her new boyfriend says.

I loved the richness of character in the writing, and how we got each person's story told. The characters are (nearly) all loveable (though, sorry, I don't want to live with the cousins). I also enjoyed seeing Fab's spirituality through her vodou faith, and the magical realism approach the story took.

There is plenty of moral gray area. This is one of the book's strengths, as it makes no right or wrong judgements, nobody is "good" by the purity stick, and there is no ending moral lesson--we just have characters doing their best to live and survive.

Highly recommended if you're in the mood for an intense and emotional ride.

Content warnings for detainment, gun violence, character death, drugs.

Nelson (Z1/AoL):

fender left handed guitar. He puts the capo along the headstock (so that it doesnt points outward). His capo has a straight side and a round side, with the round side facing towards him. Capo color is similar to the Magical Boomerang (like in Z1)

Willie (TP):

has two main bass that he uses. Bass 1 is the shape shifter bass (right handed). Glowy neon blue ish on gray, my reference is Ibanez's GSR200B.

Other bass is based on a fender bass (left handed, precision bass). The paint is slightly chipped off and on the back, there's carvings of something similar to an owl's claw, as well as what looks like facial markings.

Has a fret wrap and capo is in his pocket (or he steals from Warehouse)

Warehouse (HW):

gibson-looking headstock. Capo is put right at the nut (where it Should Be according to him. Will fight if anyone says otherwise)

I never actually draw it, but I always imagine he plays acoustic. Slotted headstock with the capo put on top, and it sticks out. (his capo has two straight sides)

day 1: kiss

The thing about dating Kaoru is that he only ever has two moods when it comes to kissing: a) the one where he absolutely does not want one and the one where it can only be possible on his terms.

One might think that for a touchy-feely guy like Kojiro, Mood A is the absolute worst. But no—he actually prefers that over Mood B.

“Thanks for dinner, love.” Mood B always comes like a burglar—a rare tender word, warm arms wrapping from the back, then the fatal kiss on Kojiro’s shoulder. He shakes him off as if he were a roach in the kitchen but by then, the deed is done: Kaoru is swooping away like a ghost while Kojiro is left to claw his white chefʼs jacket from his back to inspect the damage.

And there it is: a kiss mark painted in bolognese sauce. On his newest jacket—!

“You—!” Kojiro stomps towards the door and screams at the empty stairwell. “You ingrate, youʼre sleeping on the floor tonight!!”

day 2: guests at a wedding

Master Ainosuke gasps and mumbles, “But of course!” which sets Tadashi on the prowl for the thing that caught his eye. There’s lots of things to see here, of course—guests in sleek suits and gowns, red hibiscus flowers and bright sunflowers decorating the elevated walkway…it’s a summer wedding, after all. But because none of them are nearly as elegant as roses, they can’t be what has enamored his employer so.

So he keeps searching still…and there, around the tail of the groom’s white suit. That hem is definitely cut into the shape of flowers which only serves to bring out the faint flower garden detailed onto his back.

“Roses, of course,” Master Ainosuke talks on, and because he loved the idea, now he’s applauding the newlyweds more loudly as they leave the conference room. “Mine must be roses.”

Tadashi keeps his smile hidden in the corner of his lips. On his phone, he opens up the document called Master Ainosuke’s Wedding Plans and notes it down.

day 3: hair

“By the way, did you cut your hair?” Langa only remembers to ask when the bottle of sparkling strawberry water rolls down the chute. He picks it up and twists it open.

“Yeah.” Reki moves his deck to his other arm and takes the proferred drink. “Hey, you noticed!”

“I was about to ask earlier, but then the train arrived.” Langa smiles, uncapping his bottle of sparkling mango water. “It looks good on you.”

“Yeah?!” Reki breaks out into a grin. “Thanks. And here’s your reward for being the best boyfriend.” When he puts up his thumb, Langa cracks up.

day 4: create something using more than 1 prompt (prompts used: domestic, broken)

“Ah—!”

The bowl lands with a dull crack, and Kaoru curses his luck because that specific bowl was a souvenir from Paris.

“What was that?!”

Nothing! is what Kaoru wants to tell Kojiro in the living room, but that will definitely arouse suspicion.

So he cries back instead, “What was what?!” as he grabs a plastic bag and cleans up.

“Did something fall?”

“No, nothing fell!” Kaoru sweeps the floor for good measure. “I’m craving ice cream, what flavor do you want?”

“Huh? Oh, get me vanilla!”

“Okay!” Kaoru leaves the house through the back, taking the evidence with him.

day 5: flowers

“Huh?” Miya says when he approaches. “You’re actually here. I thought youʼd be at Crazy Rock by now.” And itʼs rude to chastise this mannerless kid during the service so Hiromi reins his tongue in.

“Somebody has to deliver these flowers and I wasnʼt gonna let anyone else do it.” With the wreath standing perfectly parallel to the door, Hiromi steps back to inspect the bursting ring of yellow chrysanthemums and white lilies, the sender being simply noted as DOPE SKETCH and friends. It was the “most reputable” way they could express their collective sympathies without indicting his, Cherry blossomʼs and JOEʼs day jobs.

“Huh. Thanks, I guess.”

“Donʼt mention it—” Hiromi finally snaps. “Punk, thatʼs not how youʼre supposed to behave as a relative of the deceased!” Squaring his shoulders, then, Hiromi bows low to him. “I am deeply sorry for your loss.”

Miya sighs. “Itʼs just my grandma—”

Hiromi glares at the kid.

Swallowing up whatever protests he may have, Miya returns his bow with a quiet note of acceptance.

day 6: firsts

Kaoru wouldn’t admit it but when Carla told him that Kojiro was calling, he’d been about to tell her to tell him to call him tomorrow, after he’d napped for a few hours. But a guilty conscience eventually brought his thumb to the green phone icon.

And all just to listen to this poor guy wail like a monkey who’d been abandoned by his ape mother in the middle of Italy. He’d tried to get some there-theres in edgewise, but all his words were simply devoured by the howling, even when he started badmouthing the chef who badmouthed his dish.

So obviously none of his bright ideas are working, all of it having been spent troubleshooting some stupid defect in Carla’s scheduling module. But then there’s actually a rare lull in the call and he could hear Kojiro gasping and sniffling, and he thinks he owes it to the sad idiot to try again.

So he does. He comes up with something new and gives it a whirl for whatever it’s worth. “Hey, remember that time I burned my thumb trying to make instant noodles? And I had to call you all the way from the taco restaurant because I was panicking. And you were so scared, you forgot to put the frying fork down when you ran off to my house.” That story always made Kojiro laugh, at his expense.

Well, he’s just glad now that it’s working. Kojiro’s sobs have transformed themselves into the sounds of a madman cackling.

Kaoru smiles, having missed this song. He’ll get him for that one day, but for now: “Remember what you told me, then?”

“Yeah, yeah,” Kojiro sighs, sniffling. “There’s a first time for everything. I know.”

day 7: confession in the middle of an argument

“This,” Kaoru is seething, “is your fault. This evening is ruined because of you.”

“And you’re just overreacting, you dramatic robomaniac!” Well, if Kaoru thinks two can’t play that game, he’s wrong! Kojiro matches him glare for glare, fang for fang, both of them hunched over the VIP counter, nails digging into the wood. “I already told you the truth, but you won’t listen to me!”

“You’re just making excuses so you can wash your hands off of a commitment, you spineless gorilla!”

“What commitment are we talking about! A commitment with you?” Kojiro’s laughter comes through in derisive barks. “What kind of relationship are we in, anyway, a contract?! You’re just pinning your mistake on me because you couldn’t do anything about it!”

“And you didn’t do anything about it!” Kaoru drags in a deep breath, hot and rolling. “You know how important this was for me! No, I thought you knew how important this was for me. I trusted you, you insipid baboon—!”

“It was me!”

The voice is new, partly because he wasn’t there when they started quarreling and partly also because he’s normally so quiet. But when Kaoru and Kojiro turn to face the newcomer, they find Langa standing smack dab in the middle of the restaurant.

“Sorry, Cherry, I took the cheesecake,” he exhales. “I was hungry, and JOE said I could have whatever was in the fridge. I didn’t know that you were saving the cheesecake as an after work treat. Sorry.” Well, that explains it.

Kojiro straightens up and sighs loudly. “Well, to be fair, I should have already put a sticky note on it when he asked me to reserve it for him yesterday.” When Kaoru stomps off to confront the delinquent youth, he grabs the aggrieved man by his skinny wrist. “Itʼs not worth it, moron, he’s just a kid.”

Like my Taste of Dionysus tea, I have a tea dedicated to Apollo. Here’s Burning Kiss of Apollo.

Ingredients:

-Rosehip

-Hibiscus

-Lemon or orange slices(tea version will suffice)

-Allspice

-Nutmeg

-Cinnamon

-Ginger(ground or chopped root)

-Licorice

-Bay Laurel

Instructions:

1) Fill jar with all the above herbs, spices, and tea and water.(With the loose leaf stuff, you should use about two teaspoons or one tablespoon of each thing. Bay Laurel, only one or two leaves.) Screw on lid.

2)Leave in a sunny spot or out in the daytime for approximately 3-5 hours or longer if you wish. Remove before nighttime. Optional, mix in a teaspoon or two of honey.

Notes:

I actually did this process before I left for work, so mine actually brewed approximately 6-7 hours. It doesn’t look like it in the picture, but it does have a nice deep red, almost like a sunset. The darkness of your tea depends on how long you brew it for.

🌷: Tulips mean happiness and joy, which I think perfectly fits Zoe's bubbly and giggly personality

🌺: Hibiscus mean sunshine, which is literally Clawdeen’s nickname for Zoe 🥺🥺

Zoe's biggest wish was to fall in love, something she's been manifesting since she was in high school. She first found Clawdeen while watching the Skulltimate Roller Maze finals, and it was love at first sight. She would dream about Clawdeen treating her like a princess, buying her endless amounts of gifts for her 22nd birthday and proposing to her near the heart shaped pool at her mansion. When she saw Clawdeen in person for the first time she felt all those dreams rushing back in a euphoric wave. The two have been madly in love ever since, and every moment feels like Zoe's living a romcom in real time.

RJ's Platinum Collection #66: Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly

I had enjoyed the first "Coffee Talk" game so much, the next day I looked up the sequel. I was thrilled to discover that the sequel was available for free on PS Plus as well, so I quickly ran through my first playthrough. However, I discovered that this Platinum would be a little trickier to get than its predecessor, but I still fell even more in love with the world of Coffee Talk by the end of it!

Hibiscus & Butterfly is named such because there are the two new ingredients you can use to make drinks - butterfly pea flowers and hibiscus flowers. All of the characters from the first game return, with the exception of Freya and Hendry (Neil has also adopted a human form and changed his name to Silver). In their place are new characters Lucas, a social media influencer satyr who became my new favorite character very fast; Riona, a banshee struggling to make it in the opera business; and Amanda, Silver's sibling who is trying to convince him to come back to their home planet.

The gameplay is mostly unchanged from the first game; you make drinks and listen to your customers talk about their personal problems, and how their conversations go is affected by if you make the drink right or not. However, instead of being a mostly slice-of-life game like the first one, Hibiscus & Butterfly actually has an ongoing mystery story going on, centered around Lucas, Riona, and human cop Jorji. It was really cool to see the game take such an interesting turn. Like the first game, I played the game blind and tried my best to get the best ending for all of the characters.

At one point in the game two characters suddenly showed up to have a conversation with Jorji. I later found out that this was a cameo of the two main characters from another game called The Darkside Detective. I ended up adding that game to my library to try out in the future, so thanks Coffee Talk!

13/53: Hardboiled Advice - Unlock the conversation with Detective McQueen and Officer Dooley.

14/53: 40,075km - Get Silver and Amanda's good ending 1.

15/53: Guest of Honor - Get invited to Lua and Bailey's wedding.

One new mechanic this game added was the ability to receive items from characters that you must then remember to give to other characters with their drinks. I thought I was doing so well at getting everything right - until the moment I accidentally forgot to give Gala the wedding invitation for Hyde. I was embarrassed and worried I wouldn't get the best ending for Hyde now, so I will be honest and say that I reloaded the day and remembered to give the invitation the second time around. So this playthrough wasn't exactly 100% me doing my best in one try.

16/53: Unsolicited Bouncer - Forget to give Gala Hyde's wedding invitation.

17/53: Failed Messenger - Forget to give items to the intended recipients for the first time.

After that though, I did continue playing without restarting any days, and I am happy to report that, despite a few mistakes, I was able to come up with enough good drinks for everyone that I eventually finished the game with ALL of the best endings for each character, giving me a total of 26 trophies by the end of my first playthrough.

Now before I started my next big step of the Platinum journey, I decided to look up a list of all of the drinks in the game and then make all of them in Free Mode to get the trophy for making all drinks.

27/53: Master Brewer - Unlock all special drinks.

After I got that trophy, I began embarking on my second playthrough, and I honestly wasn't looking forward to this part. Unlike the first game, there were actually trophies for getting the bad endings for all the characters. I actually felt really bad making the wrong drinks for everyone and watching as relationships turned sour, dreams failed, and all the characters just ended up miserable and sad. Alas, we have to do things we don't like for trophies sometimes.

Thankfully with that done, I was able to do a third playthrough to get all the remaining endings I didn't have yet. Yeah, some of the characters have more than two endings. Those are Silver and Amanda, who have two different versions of their Good Ending; Jorji, who has a Good Ending that does not tie into Riona and Lucas' stories; and Lucas and Riona, who likewise have a Good Ending that does not tie into Jorji's story. So I did a third playthrough and got those three endings and three more trophies.

38/53: How I Met Your Ancestor - Get Silver and Amanda's good ending 2.

39/53: Tender Soul - Get Jorji's good ending.

40/53: A Budding Partnership - Get Lucas and Riona's good ending.

Next I got one random trophy out of the way by replaying the day of Riona's second visit to the coffee shop and handing her Lucas' fidget spinner. She was just as confused as I was.

41/53: What's This? - Give Riona the fidget spinner.

Next I needed to finish out all the trophies related to Rachel. Basically, you have three different options of drinks to make for Rachel to inspire her to write a new song. I had made Rachel the same drink in all the previous playthroughs, so all I had to do was serve Rachel a different drink on that particular day, then fast-forward to the day she brings in her new song, then repeat with a different drink, and I got two more trophies out of it.

42/53: Wistful Nights - Inspire Rachel with a "Dreamin' Blue".

43/53: Comfortable With You - Inspire Rachel with a "Milk Honey Green Tea".

But then I was a little confused when the trophy for unlocking all three songs did not pop. Turns out that I just needed to use the Sweetheart Latte again. Once I got that scene again, I got the trophy for unlocking all three of Rachel's songs, and I also got the trophy for listening to all the songs on the soundtrack.

44/53: True Fan - Unlock Aremy x Nekochel's whole album.

45/53: 24/7 Beats To Relax/Study To - Listen to all of the songs.

One thing I didn't bring up is that, throughout the game, a mysterious cat keeps coming into the shop. I knew after looking up a guide following my first playthrough of the game that you needed to get every ending to figure out what the cat's deal was. So I continued on until the very end of the game after unlocking the songs...and got a very sweet scene where the cat's owner comes in and takes him home. The owner in question was none other than Coffee Talk's creator, Mohammad Fahmi, who tragically passed away in-between the two games. It was a very moving and sweet cameo...and a goodbye.

46/53: Cat Shelter - Reunite Tofu with his owner.

After that trophy, I realized I somehow hadn't gotten all the images in the Gallery despite getting every ending. Upon doing research, I discovered the one single art I was missing was only unlocked in a playthrough that combined Baileys and Lua's good ending and Hyde's bad ending. So I was forced to do a semi-partial playthrough of the game in order to do that, but once the art popped up, so did the trophy.

47/53: Art Connoisseur - Unlock all art in the Gallery.

Now my last step of the Platinum playthrough was exactly the same as the first game. First I started a new playthrough and trashed drinks until I hit 25, and then left the game running on for an hour during the first Latte Art sequence. Boom, two more trophies.

48/53: Stop It! - Trash a total of 25 drinks.

49/53: Art Takes Time - Spent a total of 1 hour making latte art.

And lastly, getting 50 correct drinks in one run on Challenge Mode. This mode was not changed from the first game, the only difference being there were a lot more drink options to fuck up. So I decided to pull up a guide of what drinks each order referred to, which allowed me to quickly mop up 50 correct drinks and unlock the Platinum!

50/53: Barista Trainee - Serve 10 correct drinks in Challenge Mode.

51/53: Barista Expert - Serve 25 correct drinks in Challenge Mode.

52/53: Barista Guru - Serve 50 correct drinks in Challenge Mode.

53/53: Thank You For Playing - Unlock all trophies.

I really loved these games. I even kind of wish I hadn't gone through both games in 5 days, because I already miss them. I loved the setting, I loved the characters, and I loved how relaxed and happy the game made me. I know that a third game is coming up, but this one is gonna be set in Tokyo and feature a new cast. I'm not too sure about that. I know it will be amazing, but I'm so attached to his cast! Especially Lucas, I fucking love Lucas so much. But anyways, I definitely recommend everyone give both Coffee Talk and Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly a try!
