"I quit my birth control and feel so much better, this is proof birth control is poisoning our bodies!!!" listen I am a lucky duck who tried one form of birth control and felt great but if I had to try 80 different types I would because I don't want to get fucking pregnant. if your birth control sucks try a new type!! "everyone should quit their birth control" is a bunch of conservative-crunchy bullshit

Just an FYI, one of your followers put misinformation on my (colorisbyshe is my sideblog) reproductive healthcare for fat people. So, just to make it clear to your followers: Plan B is effective for fat people. It may be SLIGHTLY less effective over certain weight thresholds (according to one study) but is still effective. Other good options for fat people are IUDs, even as emergency contraceptive and not something more preemptive.
Fat people have multiple, still safe, still effective options for emergency contraceptives and that does include Plan B. Do NOT take more than the normal dosage of Plan B unless advised to by a professional.
Your followers behaviour isn’t your fault but I don’t want them to spread misinformation that can drive fat people to not get the care they need. Or to take more plan b than they need.
Thank you so much for clarifying! I was going to reblog that to clarify today but it's much better just to have it by itself like this, good notes. <3

Reproductiverights.gov website has been taken down since the inauguration. I have also been seeing an increase in advertisements for period tracker apps. If you are a person with a uterus in the United States, DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY PERIOD TRACKER!!!

"Canada's parliament has passed a bill that that will cover the full cost of contraception and diabetes drugs for Canadians.
The Liberal government said it is the initial phase of a plan that would expand to become a publicly funded national pharmacare programme.
The government estimates one in five Canadians struggle to pay for prescription drugs.
The federal government still has to negotiate individual funding commitments with Canada's provinces and territories.
A report from parliament's budget watchdog estimates this bill will increase federal spending by C$1.9bn ($1.3bn; £1bn) over the next five years.
Canadians currently pay for prescription drugs through a mix of private, public and out-of-pocket plans.
The programme will cover 100% of the cost of diabetes and contraception medication for those who do not have drug plan coverage, and out-of-pocket costs for those who do.
The federal government estimates that nine million Canadian women of reproductive age will have access to common types of contraception under the plan.
Birth-control pills and IUDs can cost between C$100 and C$300 a year.
The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada hailed the ball as a "historic achievement".
"Women across the country will be able to make choices about contraception based on what's best for their lives, not their wallets," it said.
In addition, some 3.7 million Canadians have been diagnosed with diabetes.
Diabetes drugs covered include insulin - for people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, which can cost between C$900 and C$1,700 a year - and Metformin, which helps lower blood sugar levels for people with type 2 diabetes.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the bill's passage "real progress" and urged provinces to quickly move forward with signing agreements.
The federal health minister has said he hopes that some provinces will have the plan in place by the end of this year, with all on board by next spring."

AWESOME SEX-ED
Ok it has just occurred to me that probably not everyone knows about my favorite sex-ed resource, Scarleteen! They have loads of great articles with information about sex, birth control, etc. They also have ways for you to ask questions that you want answered!
They have articles on everything from having sex as a disabled person, a fat person, and/or an intersex person to how to get FREE birth control as a minor(!!!) asexuality 101 and so much more!!
This is an awesome resource and my go-to when I want to know something about sex, I highly recommend it for anyone with questions/curiosities about sex, and while it's largely teen focused, there will be something here that's helpful for just about anyone!
When I started writing this post I was just going to include a couple articles... but I found so many I like so here are a bunch that may be helpful under the cut (Disclaimer: I have not read all of them because there are so many, nor am I in every group of people they're about, for example I'm not intersex or disabled, so I can't speak to the accuracy of all of them, but I've generally found Scarleteen to be pretty reliable.)
The articles I've included are mostly less typical stuff and things I think are super important but not talked about enough, if you're looking for more basic sex-ed just going to their website will get you started.
Tagging a couple accounts on here who do sex-ed stuff incase they want to reblog (No pressure though <3) @certifiedsexed @batmanisagatewaydrug

First Republicans came for our abortion rights, now they are coming for birth control.
There are endless reasons someone may need access to birth control, but above all: we have a RIGHT to contraception.
Digital illustration of the faces of six people who use birth control. There are various reasons including 'managing illness, bleeding on your own terms, regulating menstrual cycles and preventing pregnancy. There's big text that reads, 'we must fight to protect our right to birth control.'

Okay, here’s my master post on birth control
Opill is an otc birth control. It is progesterone only, so it is safe for people who have migraines with aura and people with a high risk of blood clots. It is not safe for people with a history of breast cancer. You can buy it in 1/3/6 month packs. It’s on Amazon but you can purchase it in stores. If you use a subscription plan for Amazon the first month is cheaper. You can get a 3 month pack for around the price of a 1 month pack if its your first subscription.
Telyrx might or might not ship to your state. They have birth control you might already use + plan b and Ella, which works if you’re at a higher weight. Standard Plan B caps out at 155 pound, Ella works up until 195 pounds. There are several day after pills on Amazon that’s around $15-$16, but I don’t know if it works at a higher weight limit.
Doubling on Plan B is not proven to work. If you do, you should still be fine, but you will have likely feel nauseous and possibly vomit, which could make it not work. You should be good if you vomited two hours or later after taking it. It shouldn’t be too severe.
Plan B can either work up to 3 days or 5 days after your birth control fails. Make sure you read up on what you buy. The ones on Amazon are all 3 day pills.
PlanCPills.org has a list of sites where you can purchase abortion pills. They’re on sale now for obvious reasons. Some are as low as $30. For abortion pill pack for that works up until 12 weeks is not that bad.
The specific website I used is medside24.com. These websites typically require a valid ID. Get one ASAP. Medside24.com had issues with their payment system when I used them today, but it worked out, so please don’t get too stressed. They also will not reship your order if your address is wrong, so make sure your address is right.
Plan B general lasts for four years, Plan C lasts two years because misoprostol lasts two years, but mifespristone lasts 5 years, bc is whatever it is on the package. Keep them away from extreme temperatures as they are very sensitive to temperature changes. Direct sunlight can also damage birth control, Plan B, and Plan C.
The copper IUD can be used with hormonal birth control. Do not use two hormonal birth control types together. There will be side effects in a similar manner to doubling up on Plan B.
You can take Plan B while on birth control but it could cause side effects.
Testosterone is not birth control. Estrogen can make a transfem sterile, but it is not birth control.
The mini pill, also known as a progesterone only pill, has to be taken at the same time each day for maximum efficiency. You have a 3 hour window to take it or else it’ll count as skipping a day and you will be unprotected if you have sex. The Opill counts as a mini pill, so please be aware of that. There is no skip week with progesterone only birth control. You can take the pills in any order, as each pill contains the same amount of medicine.
Birth control containing estrogen and progesterone has a more lenient window. You can take two in one day if you’ve missed one day, but you will be less protected than normal. If you missed two or more, take the most recent pill that you’ve missed and continue taking it as normal. You have to throw out the missed pills. You must take these pills in order because they may contain different amounts of hormones. You can skip the placebo week on estrogen birth control and move on to the next pack.
Feel free to add anything I’ve missed.

Ok sooooo if i get an IUD but someone cums in me do i need to like rinse it out still? Like where does it go?
Rinse out what? Your vagina?
You shouldn't be rinsing out your vagina even if you don't have an IUD, that's going to guarantee you an infection.
You can clean the outside, as in your vulva, but if you rinse out your vagina, you mess up your vagina's whole system, which you don't want to do.
As for where does the semen go, generally, most of the semen is going to come back out exactly the way it came in. Gravity drags it back down and out of your vagina.
The semen that doesn't come out through your vagina is going to try to fertilize any eggs you might have but IUDs essentially tell your body to attack that sperm until it dies off.
That's all. You don't really need to do anything different to get rid of it, your body, gravity and the IUD take care of most of it without any help.

Health Canada is warning the public after one lot of Seasonique birth control pills was recalled across the country due to a packaging error that left two pills missing — a defect that could increase the risk of unintended pregnancy. The health agency issued the recall on Friday, urging people not to stop taking their birth control or skip any doses if pills are missing, and to get a replacement or alternative as soon as they can. “If you cannot get to a pharmacy right away, take the next pill in the proper order as noted in the packaging until you are able to contact your pharmacist and obtain a replacement or alternative product,” Health Canada said.
