Part 1/3 of a quick fic.

COLD CASE, WARM COMPANY

University AU.

Damian is conducting an undercover investigation for his brother Detective Dick Grayson due to misterious disappearances throughout Gotham University, where a common factor remains the main lead.

Can he keep his mind focus on the main goal of the investigation? Or is a desirable looking face enough to make him miss the plot?

His nostrils flared at the feeling of having her so close, yet not knowing for sure if he should do this with a girl he had just met but was able to sweep him off his feet.

“ Al'ama .” Damian groaned with frustration while tightening his grip on Raven’s leg, right before he slapped Raven’s glass out of her hand and used his free hand to pull her closer by the neck.

Their lips clashed on top of the other’s.

Day 3 7.5.25 Love Confessions DamiRaeWeek 2025

When Raven heard the newest, robin would be joining the Teen Titans, the Titans, really, she was excited.

"We all love Dick." She had said when Jamie who is dubious.

"Jason was the sweetest. And I think Stephanie understood me like nobody else.”  Raven rolls her eyes, when Garfield makes some joke, but they don't know what it it's like, and Stephanie did. Her father may have been a lowlife Thug, but she knew what it was like to be born of evil. Trigon maybe the embodiment of all evil, but that malice came from somewhere. And that somewhere that powered my father were people like Stephanie's father.

So I would happily welcome the newest Robin. That is what I thought until it turned out to be Damien Al Ghul. Who introduced himself as Damon Kane while I was working UC. 

I understood the need to conceal his identity then. But why did he do it when we met the second time with the league of shadows.

It's mostly water under the bridge after our Tea party date. 

Damian joins the Titans, and as serendipity would have it, Raven is a part of the team. [wink wink]

“Why? You’d only need look at yourself,”

“Is that it. Beauty is skin deep.”

“Are you calling me shallow?”

“I want you to want me, Raven, for me. I am more than lucky genetics, and symmetrical features.”

“No, I …” Was it? Was that really it. 

No. 

 Damon, no wait, Damian, was his face. If it hadn’t been for the slight bent of his nose, indicating it had been broken, his north Asian and Caucasian beauty would have been too painful to look at. High cheekbones, sharp chin, gorgeous brown skin and lips that were created to fulfil my every fantasy.

While to say, Damien was beautiful, would be an understatement. That is not all that he was. He may have a resting bitch face. His emotions spoke louder than his distancing attitude.

“You may not know this about yourself, Damian,” [yes, I put emphasis on his name. Did I understand the need for it, Maybe. How did I forgiven him? Not with this attitude] “but you are a kind and generous soul.”

Sparing with Raven had been a revelation. She really was so talented. 

One could practice their entire life, but without that natural talent, all the training could get you up to a certain point.

We all had in the league of shadows are preferred weapon. I may be a master with most Weapons, including guns, but Jason Todd had me beat. Whereas with a Katana, I am a fucking surgeon.

No one is as a dry as Grayson, as good as reading body language than Cass, and a better Detective than Drake.

Each of us, in the lead of shadows, at some point practice with our non-dominant hand. Sometimes it was voluntary, tying your hand behind once back. Sometimes it was involuntary having your arm fractured during a mission or depending on your master/sensei, who may in the guise of  training ‘accidentally injured your arm’, forcing you to depend on the other.

It was like swimming. Everyone had a main stroke. Raven's main stroke was magic. When the Titans join the league of shadows, Raven’s proficiency and precision was astounding. I was so impressed, and I thought I couldn't love her anymore than I already did.

I think I remember that from the moment, I laid eyes on her, I had a feeling that Raven was always going to be special to me. However, I didn't know how much till I spoke her name out loud one night.

If one is to be in the league of shadows, one can never give away any weaknesses. Practising with your non-dominant hand is a part of it. Not reacting to your given name is another. There are other aspects to it as well. Being as proficient in languages, that are not your mother tongue. The easiest way to be caught out is when you're trying to pass as an Arab, but you respond when in shock in Farsi.

Crying for my mother when in distress was trained out of me so long ago, I don't remember ever doing it. But one night I work from a nightmare and Lady Shiva, my guard, one of the only people in the league of shadows, I trusted with my sleeping form, asked me who Raven was.

And then that night, I was honest with myself and my mentor. There was no point in hiding anything. The woman was the best strategist, cunning, perceptive, and loyal.

Lady Shiva could have easily been grandfather successor to the league of shadows. And I trusted her with myself, conscious, unconscious and vulnerable. The reason that she was a worthy successor, but chose to step down in favour of me, clinched it.

When Lady Shiva said she wanted to serve, it was a choice, she made. There was no reason for her to not rule or lead. There was no one more capable than her. Including me. But I think I have seen enough of life to know that everyone has their own path. 

I chose Robin for so many years and now I was the Demon head. And after that, right this very moment, I am holding hands with Raven asking her to love me, for me.

“When they learn I’m the son of Talia, grandsons of the Deamon Head, they try to justify my past. Oh, you are also the son of Batman.. Batman, who is on the same team as Superman and wonder woman and the green Arrow.”

He looked at her, imploring her to understand. 

“I choose my own path. Different from father. Different from mother. I want my children to be born of love, not in some hyperbolic, artificial womb, hidden away from the other parent. I am not arrogant to say that I am my own person. I stand on the shoulders of my ancestors.  I feel their weight; Al Ghual, Kane, Wayne, Grandfather and the League of shadows is as much a part of me as robin is. And hough both organisations are vigilante. To a Titan,” Damian eyes bore into her, “which would be more palatable? I don’t want you to justify my heritage. I want you to know everything about me. And want me as I wholeheartedly, with the depth of my soul, want you?”

To Daman, it sounded like a question.

And it was.

As he barred his soul to Raven, even-though he knew so much about her from her file, interviews and shameless eavesdropping, Damian wanted Raven to confide him..

Never in his life, and he ever felt this kind of tenderness towards anyone.

How Raven Met the New Robin

Chapter 3 Magical Girls R 4Ever 👈

Damian looked back at Raven, a darkening fear in his eyes—not entirely sure what she was about to reveal. As uncertainty and the weight of a foregone conclusion began to clash against his better judgment, he finally understood how “What happened in Japan” spiraled out of control.

Luckily for him (or so he thought), Raven wasn’t withholding that sort of information. Not anymore.

But before we go tumbling down that rabbit hole--it’s better in doses, I promise--we should probably circle back to the night they met. Officially. 

Remember how I said Raven met the new Robin in an impromptu fashion? That no one—except maybe people who really knew Damian Wayne—could’ve predicted?

Yeah. That’s kinda important.

Day 2 6.5.25 Nanda Parbat  Enemies to Lovers Part I

Ravens musings about the league of shadows, the Relationship with the family of the immortal leader

The Titans will be joining the League of Shadows for a mission. 

“How much can we trust them?”

“Oh believe me, there is no question of trust. But we have the intel and for the sake of corporation, there is a no kill rule in effect.”

“Oh!” Kori, a warrior from the alien world of Tamarand did not share the same morals and principles as Nightwing. According to her, there was a difference between needless death and a righteous kill.

The league of shadows with their mandate to protect the Earth from the cancer that was human kind, Kori saw a worthy cause. 

Oh wow, Raven thought much later after the briefing. Reading up on the immortal Rs’s Al Ghul was like hearing about father for the first time. 

We all knew in theory that such evil was possible. You'd only need to look at colonisation, corporate greed and government corruption to know it was as prevalent as the mugger who killed. Unnecessary cruelty could be glimpsed anywhere. It was as free as kindness. But the Demon head was on a different scale.

Raven wondered about his family. Did they feel like she did? About Ra’s Al Ghul as Raven did of Trigon. 

The no kill rule was a lot more prevalent than we were led to believe. Raven studied the three story high and almost as wide screen before her. When she objectively analysed the scenes of their temporary ally’s suspected missions, for say the last 10 years, statically with each passing year, the amount of fatalities reduced. 

The last two years, the league exclusively used psychedelics to disarm. A very good way to leave no witnesses, if one is opposed to taking human life. 

Dead men tell no tails may work for the mundane. But for those who could commune with souls and literally read every object in the room, death was hardly a barrier. A fractured mind, even if only for a little while, like the Loss of a soul from the body, left an echo in its surroundings.  The echo affected the objects near it, altering it with confusion and distress.

Looking at the statistics, in bar graph form, each bar which represented fatalities, reduced significantly with every passing year. 

Raven shut the screen after closing the windows and saving her findings. She called for the shadows and in the next moment appeared on the rooftop of Titan Tower. The view was beautiful with the city behind her, the sea dominated her vision. The Horizon good very well, and in a waterfall, like many ancients had theorised. 

The edge of the world would probably look like this. 

Raven wondered if the change in tactics employed by the league of shadows were due to a change in leadership.

Who could possibly usurp an immortal?

The answer was simple, someone exceptional.
